George Lee Nesbitt III
George Lee Nesbitt III was born Nov. 23, 1956, to George Lee Nesbitt II and wife Joanna, in Traverse City, Mich. George, affectionately known by friends and family as "Gus, " spent his childhood years in Traverse City along with his brothers and sisters. At an early age, Gus accepted Jesus as his Savior and continued to express his faith throughout his life.
Gus entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 and served a term of four years. After his discharge he visited Colorado and fell in love with the natural beauty. After moving to Greeley, Colo., Gus soon met the love of his life, Ronda. Gus and Ronda were married Sept. 1, 1984. This union was blessed with three children, Brittni Rachel, Leevi Daniel and Tyler Donald.

Gus found a natural talent in sales and successfully pursued a career in the industrial field. First and foremost in Gus' life was his family. His recent career move to Billings helped Gus fulfill a dream of providing well for his family.

Brittni loved that her father was such a people person and enjoyed those in his presence. Leevi's special time with Dad was their frequent fishing trips. Tyler recalls how special Dad made every Christmas and how they would decorate him with all the bows. Gus was vibrant with life and love. His heart reached out to those in need unselfishly. He was quick with a smile and a joke. He touched the lives of all that came in contact with his being. He will be forever in our lives through his kindness and understanding.

Gus departed this life in search of peace on April 8. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Ronda; his daughter Brittni; and sons Leevi and Tyler; his father George Lee Nesbitt II and wife June of Traverse City, Mich.; his mother Joanna and husband Herbert Sharkey of St. Petersberg, Fla.; his brother and sister-in-law Tim and Laura Nesbitt and family of Traverse City, Mich.; his brother Mark Nesbitt and daughter Sara, and sister Debbie Nesbitt all of St. Petersburg; and his sister Ellen McClure and husband Jack of Hudson, Fla. He also leaves to mourn his parents-in-law, Don and Marge Murphy of Joes, Colo.; his sister-in-law Vicki Davidson and friend Tim Swiader of Littleton, Colo.; his sister-in-law Tammie Murphy and daughter Jamice of Sterling, Colo.; his sister-in-law Theresa Murphy of Limon, Colo.; his brother-in-law Steve Murphy of Kirk, Colo.; grandmother-in-law Charlotte Fast of Joes, Colo.; and a host of relatives and friends from coast to coast.

Dear Gus:

My heart is half empty (or half full), as you would say. Sleep in peace my love.

Always, Ronda

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the New Beginnings Ministry Center, 145 Alderson Ave. Memorials may be sent to a scholarship trust fund established for Gus' children, c/o Western Security Bank, 1546 Main St., Billings, MT 59105. John Brandel Madden
On April 10, 1999, John Madden lost his long battle with cancer. He died peacefully at home with his family around him.
John, the son of Charles Edward and Eva Mary Madden, was born May 18, 1919, in Royal Oak, Mich. He had five brothers and four sisters. The family later moved to Rochester, Mich., where he graduated from high school.

From 1941 to 1945 he served as a crew chief in the Eighth Army Air Corps in England. Near the end of the war he was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base outside Great Falls and it was here he fell in love with Montana.

In 1955 he moved to this "Last Best Place" where he married Peggy Marble. Three daughters Colleen, Kelly and Eileen were born from this marriage. In 1964 he married Mary Harris in Rochester, Mich., and became the proud stepfather of Dale, Dean, and Debbie. He was, for over forty years, a State Farm agent in Billings. After retirement in 1985 he and Mary spent their winters in Arizona. John became and remained to the end an avid golfer.

His parents, his sister Eva Lanktree and his brother Edward Madden, preceded John in death. He is survived by his wife Mary; his children: Colleen Madden of Carlton, Minn., Kelly King (Bruce) of Bozeman, Eileen McKechnie (Bruce) of Great Falls, Dale Harris of Missoula, Dean Harris of Billings, and Debra Harris-Smyle (Jerry) of Billings. Also surviving are his three sisters: Kathleen Emery of Lansing, Mich., Lucille Yencich of Elk Rapids, Mich., Mary Boughner of Utica, Mich.; and his remaining bothers: Tom Madden of Rochester, Mich., George Madden of Billings, Jim Madden of Lake Orion, Mich., and Paul Madden of Naples Florida. Not to be forgotten are his thirteen grandchildren and three great grand children.

John knew how to work and how to play and he approached each with a joyful lustiness.

No matter what life brought him there was never a question about his deep love for his wife and family and his loyalty to his friends including his golfing buddies.

As result, no doubt, of his Irish ancestry John had a sharp sense of humor that endeared him to all that knew him. And this charming characteristic did not fail him during his illness not even to the end.

May he rest in peace.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at Simplicity Burial and Cremation Services, 528 Lake Elmo Drive, Billings, Mont.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Big Sky Hospice, P.0. Box 35033, Billings, MT. Their sympathetic and professional care was a blessing to John and his loved ones.
