Lydia Youdan
MILES CITY - Lydia Youdan, 93, died Monday, July 12, 1999, at the TLC Personal Care Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at the First United Methodist Church with interment in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Patricia A. 'Pat' Babovich
Patricia A. "Pat" Babovich, 64, of Billings passed away peacefully at home Saturday, July 10, 1999, following a valiant and brief battle with brain cancer. She was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Wellington, Kan., to Matt and Sibyl Fletcher Dwyer. Pat married Louis Babovich Jr. in 1959. They made their borne in Los Alamos, N.M., where they raised their four children.
Pat was actively involved in her children's interests, politics, and her bridge club. Her hobbies included sewing, rock hounding, gardening, reading and traveling. Upon moving to Billings 15 years ago, Pat enjoyed pursuing her hobbies and teaching her grandchildren family values and arts and crafts. She had tremendous spirit and strength. Her devotion to her family and friends was extraordinary. Pat was a great inspiration to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Dwyer; and her son, Steven. Pat is survived by her husband, Louis; three daughters, Jennifer (Tim) Donovan, Laura (Paul) Fenter, and Rachel Eubank; five grandchildren, Courtney and Ryan Donovan, April and Amber Eubank, and Sarah Babovich; brother, Ron Dwyer and sister, Jean Means, both of Tulsa, Okla.
Memorial will be 3 p.m. Friday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8t St. W. & St. John's. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements were by the Gallery and Cremation Society of Montana.

Edward Cole Blaesius
Edward Cole Blaesius, 74, passed away Sunday, July 11, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital of pneumonia, complicated by pulmonary fibrosis. He was born March 21, 1925, to Karl and Katherine Blaesius in Billings. He married Kathleen Elings on July 26, 1952, in Conrad.
Ed graduated from Billings Senior High School in May 1943, entering the Army on Aug. 23, 1943. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe with the 30th Infantry Division. Wounded twice in action, Ed received the Purple Heart with cluster and the Bronze Star. Upon his return from Europe, he worked for Mountain Bell, retiring after 33 years in 1984. After retirement from Mountain Bell, Ed and Dick Brown began Rainbow Communications, continuing to work through 1998.
Ed served as Commander of the Purple Heart for two years, and was very active in the American Legion and VFW, also serving as a HOSTS volunteer at Broadwater School. He enjoyed meeting his friends often for coffee and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at his home west of Billings.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen; five children, Bradley Blaesius, Diana (Roger) Kern, Robert Blaesius, Marlene Blaesius, and Brenda Blaesius; five grandchildren, Ryan Kern, Lauren, Taylor and Troy Blaesius, and Sarah Blaesius; and his sister, Bonnie (Bill) Kramer.
Memorials made be made to the Disabled American Veterans - DAV Transportation Trust Fund, 1127 Alderson, Billings, MT 59102.
Funeral service is Thursday, 11 a.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Visitation begins Tuesday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m. and Wednesday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mountview cemetery.

Lydia Mae Brown
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Lydia Mae Brown, 80, died Monday, July 12, 1999, after a long illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander with interment in Mount Hope cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Ethel Ellis
Ethel Ellis, of Billings, passed away at her home July 11, 1999.
She was born Dec. 6, 1914, on the Schwend Ranch, five miles south of Bridger, a daughter of Claude and Blanche Bennett Schwend. She attended schools in Bridger.
Ethel married Ervin Ellis on Oct. 14, 1933, and they lived in Bridger two years before moving to St. Xavier in 1935. They farmed and ranched in the St. Xavier area for 43 years. In 1978, they moved to a ranch 13 miles northeast of Broadus, where they farmed and ranched with their son, Gerald. In 1992 they retired and moved to Billings, where she lived at home under the care of her husband and caregiver, Peg Falls.
She was an active member of the Upper Big Horn Home Demonstration Club for 43 years while living at St. Xavier and was a 4-H leader for many years. While living in Broadus, she participated in the Stitch and Chatter Quilt Club and the Powder River Cow Belle.
Ethel loved her garden, flowers and yard. She developed an interest and a love for ceramics which she continued even after she suffered in 1989.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Jess, Bert, Walt and Bill Schwend; two sisters, Gladys Anderson and Evelyn Lawson.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Ervin Ellis of Billings; one son, Gerald (Mary Dell) Ellis of Broadus; three daughters, Donna (Bob) Delp of Richey, JoAnn (Paul) Stenerson of Conrad and Betty (George) Eichhorn of Helena; one sister, Betty Larson of Bridger; one brother, Jack Schwend of Rosebud. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bridger cemetery in Bridger at 1:30 p.m. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Stroke Foundation.

Gladys Bliss Ginther
Gladys Bliss Ginther, 97, of Billings, died Monday, July 12, 1999, at Western Manor.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at a later date in Kansas. Affordable Alternative Cremation & Burial Services was in charge.

Paul Greninger
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Paul Greninger, 85, died Friday, July 9, 1999.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the Black Hills State cemetery, S.D. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles M. Hires
Charles Monroe Hires, 56, of Billings, died Saturday, July 10, 1999.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the Laurel Baptist Church. Affordable Alternative Cremation & Burial Services is in charge.

Anna Kyro
RED LODGE - Anna, 94, of Roberts, died Monday, July 12, 1999, in Cedar Wood Villa.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at Olcott Funeral Chapel with interment in Red Lodge cemetery.

Kevin Old Bull Little Light
PHOENIX - Kevin Old Bull Little Light, 46, of Phoenix, went home to be with the Lord on July 8, 1999.
He was born Feb. 2, 1953, in Sheridan, Wyo., a son of Sandra Little Light and Floyd Old Bull. He was raised by his grandmother, Dora Blackhawk Little Light. He grew up on the Crow reservation and attended Wyola Elementary School and later graduated from the Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota.
Kevin's trade was masonry, carpentry, construction and electronics. He worked throughout the United States and made his home in Phoenix. He was a member of the All Nations Vision Outreach in Phoenix and was active in feeding the homeless. In addition, he was a member of the Wyola Catholic Church, Big Lodge Clan and a child of the Piegan Clan.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal, and his maternal parents, Dora and George Little Light.
Survivors include a son, Elliott (Roseana) Driftwood of Hardin; his fiancÈe, Tricia Nelson; his sisters, Mary Jo Powers of Salt Lake City, Utah, Roberta Stops, Valerie Jackson and Beverly Powers of Arizona; his brothers, Lansing Crooked Arm of Dunmore, Peter Katz of New York, Roy Stops and Jimmy Powers of Billings, Jay Powers of New Jersey, Randy Powers and Anonio "Derry" Cibizi of Arizona; his father, Floyd Old Bull of Havre; his aunts, Beverly Brockman of Kalispell, Genevieve Old Bull and Serena Bishop of Lodge Grass; his uncles, Harold Stone Sr. and Keith Blackhawk of Wyola, Emmett Old Bull Sr. of Crow Agency and Tilton Old Bull Sr. of Hardin; his grandchildren, Gabriel and Carmella Driftwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Wyola Blessed Kateri-Tekakawitha Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Blackhawk Family cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

LaVada Marsh
PLENTYWOOD - A funeral Liturgy for LaVada Marsh will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Plentywood. A Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at Fulkerson Memorial Funeral Home. Father Benjamin Lobo will officiate. Cremation has taken place. LaVada, 96, died late Friday night at Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home in Plentywood.
LaVada was born on April 1, 1903, in Payne County, Okla., the daughter of William and Stella (White) Ross. In the Spring of 1905, she and her family moved to Montana in a covered wagon and they lived by the Missouri River, south of Culbertson. Later they lived in the Welliver and Antelope communities. She graduated from Plentywood High School in 1925 and married Louis Marsh on June 1 of that year. They farmed 10 miles southwest of Plentywood where they made their home. Louis died in 1987 and LaVada continued to live on the farm until 1997 when she moved to LaCasa Personal Care and then to Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home.
LaVada loved to drive in their pasture and look at the horses, cattle and wild flowers. She was still riding her horse until her late 80s. She enjoyed delving into her genealogy and kept up a large correspondence with family and friends. Because of her large family and the many hired men who worked their place, she was always cooking huge meals and taking them to the people who were working in the fields and branding cattle. She loved family picnics in the coulees. The highlights of these occasions were LaVada's pies, cookies and chocolate cake. One of her priorities for her children and grandchildren was that they had the opportunity to obtain a good education. LaVada loved all of her grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and for many years was a member of the Altar Society. She also belonged to a ladies organization, The Degree of Honor.
Survivors include four sons: Kerry and wife, Lois of Tucson, Ariz., Loyal and Margie of Portland, Ore., Lloyd and wife, Millie and Gaylen and wife, Kathie, all of Plentywood. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Curtis and wife, Mary of Waco, Texas, Raymond and wife, Louise of North Carolina and Bill and wife, Doris of Powell, Wyo., and two sisters-in-law, Ruth of Powell, and Joan of Plentywood. LaVada is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were special to her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis; one son, William and his wife, Ellen; five brothers: Jim, Leonard, Kenneth, Willard and William Dale; two sisters: Faye and Bertha; and a grandson, Tim.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge of arrangements.

Lyle W. Morrow
LEWISTOWN - Lyle W. Morrow, 79, formerly of Stanford, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at his home of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place. Wake services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the VFW Hall in Fort Benton. Interment of his cremated remains will be Saturday, July 17, on his old ranch. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge.

Irene A. Sillivan
Irene A. Sillivan, 95, of Billings passed away Saturday evening, July 10, 1999, at St. Vincent's Hospital.
Irene was born on May 4, 1904, in Rock Island, Ill., a daughter of Henry and Amelia Doering. She moved to Montana in 1915 and helped her brothers, Hugo and Herman Doering, on the farm 15 miles southwest of Ryegate. In 1948 she married Melvin Sillivan and together they farmed and ranched near Billings, selling milk and eggs to their neighbors on the Bench.
Survivors include three nephews, Craig Sillivan of Arizona, Warren Sillivan of Ryegate, and Wallace Sillivan of Rock Island; and a niece, Rosalie Brooks of Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Cremation has taken place and private interment services will be held. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Valentine 'Val' Amann
Valentine "Val" Amann, 67, of Billings, passed away Sunday, July 11, 1999, at his home after a long illness. He was born Aug. 20, 1931, to Christ and Rose Zent Amann in Bentley, N.D., one of nine children. He married JoAnn Oscarson on Nov. 30, 1956.
He retired after 32 years in the Ironworkers Local No. 708; he was then employed at West High five years. Val loved to fish and travel.
Val is survived by his wife, JoAnn; sons, Jerry (Deb), Robert (Michele), and Joe (Loree); daughters, Barb (Rich) Nord, and Valerie (Gary) Leapoldt; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack, John, and George; and sisters, Hilda, Leora, and Irene. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leonard and Pete.
Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th St. W. and St. John's. Vigil is 7 p.m. Tuesday and Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice or Rocky Mountain Cancer Center. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

William Fredrick Blakeslee
LIVINGSTON - William Fredrick Blakeslee, 72, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at his home after long illness.
Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at the church with cremation to follow. Private family committal of the cremated remains will be Thursday, July 15, in Calvary cemetery. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge.

Delphine 'Della' Lorenzen Osterdyk
Della Osterdyk, 65, went home to her heavenly Father Wednesday July 7, 1999 in St. Thomas, N.D., after suffering a heart attack. She was born Aug. 25, 1933 in Dayton, N.D., to Clyde and Elizabeth Lorenzen. Della married Casey Osterdyk on Dec. 23, 1957.
Della enjoyed being a wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Her life revolved around taking care of others. Della was also an avid Mustangs and Bulls fan and enjoyed tending to her flowers. She loved taking care of other children and was known as "Grandma Della" to many. She wrote wonderful poems for her church and was the church secretary for many years. She will always be loved and remembered by all.
Della was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Duane, Billy, Jerry and Steven. She is survived by her husband, Casey; sons, Kirk (Connie) Osterdyk, and Scott Osterdyk; daughters, Jane (Herman) Barta, Judy (Terry) Mattson, and JoLynn (Jim) Fellows; grandchildren, Chad Barta, Terry Jr., Matthew, and Andrew Mattson, James and Holland Fellows, and Alexandra, Alston, Aidan and Addison Osterdyk. Surviving brothers and sisters are: Don, Evangeline, Ruth, Doris, Shirley, Rose, Darlene and Mary.
Viewing will be 9-4 p.m. Monday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th St. W. and St. Johns. A funeral service of remembrance will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Alliance Church, 1835 Central, Billings and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will follow at the church. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery

LIVINGSTON - Patricia Ann (Dunagan) Uhl, 54, of Livingston, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings after a short illness.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at the Livingston Country Club. Franzen-Davis Funeral and Crematory is in charge.
