Elmer J. Bromenshenk
Elmer J. Bromenshenk, 82, of Billings, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 10, 2000, at the Primrose Personal Care Home in Billings. He was born Feb. 27, 1918, in Billings, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Klemm) Bromenshenk.
Elmer was raised and educated in Custer, Pompeys Pillar and Billings. He graduated from Billings High School in 1936. In his teens, Elmer worked as a foreman at Midland Implement Co., a job he was very proud of. Following graduation, he worked for Midland and began farming on the Zimmerman farm.
On June 22, 1940, he married Mildred Birkholz in Billings. They operated a dairy farm south of Billings for 34 years. During these years, Elmer was an active member of Little Flower Church, where he ushered and helped out. He and Mildred retired to Billings in 1980. In 1993, Mildred preceded him in death after 53 years of marriage.
Elmer was the first resident of the Primrose Personal Care Home, where he enjoyed tending to the garden and yard. He also enjoyed woodworking. Primrose’s excellent care was a great comfort to not only Elmer, but his family as well. Elmer missed his beloved wife Mildred very much and in his last month of life said that she had visited with him every night. He and Mildred are now reunited forever. In addition to Mildred, Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Walter and LeRoy Bromenshenk, his sister Alice Harlan, and his daughter Bonnie.
Survivors include his son, Jerry (Gail) Bromenshenk of Missoula; his daughter, Susan (Jerry) Robertson; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bromenshenk; his granddaughter, Carrie (Ryan) Hopson; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Hopson, all of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 13, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, August 14, at St. Pius X Church with Rite of Committal in Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Primrose Personal Care Home, 1228 Maurine St., Billings, MT 59105 or the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Billings, 2 Poly Drive, Billings, MT 59102.

James Allen Crans
ROBERTS – James Allen Crans, 79, of Roberts, left his family Aug. 10, 2000. He was born Jan. 18, 1921, to Bert and Elinor Crans at Laurel. He loved fishing, hunting, visiting with friends, and puttering around outside.
James is survived by his son, Jim and daughter-in-law, Louise of Red Lodge; daughter, Linda, son-in-law, Roger Boyce of Greybull, Wyo.; sister, Arleen (Ken) Beven of Laurel; and best friend, Grayce Thatcher; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; brother, Albert; and parents. James was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge No. 40, Star in the West, Royal Arch Masons Carbon County Chapter No. 20, life member of the NRA, and a veteran of World War II.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug., 15, at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge. There will be a reception following services at the Dahl Chapel. Visitation, 10-3, Monday; 10-2, Tuesday. Cremation will follow with a family interment in Laurel, at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association, the Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.

Anna Dembowski
RED LODGE – Anna Dembowski, 87, formerly of Chicago, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Beartooth Long Term Care Center.
Memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in St. Agnes Catholic Church. Interment of cremated remains will be at a later date in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. Olcott Funeral Chapel is in charge.

Harold ‘Gabby’ Green
MILES CITY – Harold Gordon “Gabby” Green, 78, formerly of Ashland, died on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Private family interment will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth Ann Anderson Harringlon
BUTTE – A very classy lady who went by many names – Betty Ann, Bets, Mom, Momma, Auntie Diz, Lizzie, Grandma, Buma Liz. Elizabeth Ann Anderson Harringlon – died suddenly at St. James Hospital on Wednesday.
She was the glue that held her family together, family was her number one priority, having fun was number two. She loved life and was a firm believer in living it to the fullest. She was happiest when everyone was gathered together, she loved all the holidays and decorated her home for everyone. Christmas was the very best with her white Christmas tree decorated with 554 red balls and sprinkled with fairy dust. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day – she had a bit of green in every room.
She was very proud to be of Irish descent, especially on March 17 in Butte. She was an unofficial member of the Butte/Anaconda AOH pipe and Drum Corps. For the past 18 years, she was the “Senior Leprechaun” in charge of painting shamrocks on the corner of Broadway and Main. No matter what the occasion it was always a bit brighter when Lizzie was there.
She was an ardent sports booster, she would cheer for the Bulldogs, if they weren’t playing the Maroons. She loved Butte Central. She would proudly wear her Notre Dame shirts for every game, even if it wasn’t televised. She was a true fan when her grandkids were on the court or field. She was so proud of their accomplishments her advice to them was “Give it all you’ve got.” She could cheer louder than anyone and cry harder than most – win or lose.
She was given the gift of making everyone she met feel comfortable, she was interested in “You” whether you were a Governor or an aide at Warm Springs, where she would travel every other day for the last 17 years, to visit her sister, Lenore. She was a true and good friend to many people. She was special that way.
Elizabeth Ann Anderson was born on Dec. 14, 1921, to Samuel and Ann Anderson. She attended local schools, graduating from Butte High. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish. On Nov. 16, 1940, she married her best friend, Bernard P. Harrington. They were blessed with their “First Five” kids, JoAnn, Gary, Brian, and the twins, Bernie and Shaun. Then in 1980, after the death of her sister, Mary Doris Maloney, they were blessed with their “Second Five” kids, Kathy, Sherrie, Lori, Bill “Bubba” and Steve Maloney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ann Anderson; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Anderson and Mary Doris and “Babe” Maloney; brother, Jack Anderson; sister-in-law, Loretta Doran, and a special “cuz, ” Father Jim Burns.
She is survived by her loving family, husband Bernie; her sister, Lenore Anderson; daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and “Bud” Nobili and their kids, Michael and Rendy, parents of Nicolas and Natalie; Mark and Brock Nobili, all of Roseville, Calif.; sons and daughters-in law, Gary and Meg and their kids, T.J. and his wife Kelli, Chad and Dana; Brian and Margaret and his daughter, Heather and Dom Cote, all of Butte; Shaun Harrington, Bernie, Lynn and their kids, Jase and Kali, all of Billings; Kathy, Sherrie, [on, Bill “Bubba” and Mary Kay Thompson, Steve, Celine, and their kids, Sam and Jackson Maloney, all of Butte.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. this Friday in Holy Spirit Church. Parish vigil will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church. Entombment will be in Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Butte Central Education Fund or Ancient Order of Hibernians, PO Box 265, Butte1 MT 59702.
She was our guiding light, she taught us to love, she taught us to laugh at a good story, and to cry at the passing of the flag, she showed us how to accept with dignity life’s challenges and to keep our chins held high. Your love will burn brightly in our hearts forever. Love you so much honey. Duggan Dolan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

B. Meyer Harris
LAUREL – B. Meyer Harris, age 90, of Laurel, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Stillwater Community Hospital. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Laurel United Methodist church. Cremation has occurred with graveside committal services at the Rockvale cemetery following the memorial service.
Meyer was born in Park City March 4, 1910, the son of Bertram M. Harris and Bernice (Crismas) Harris. He graduated from Park City High School and the University of Montana at Missoula while continuing to work with his father at the Park City State Bank, beginning what was to be a 70-year career with what is now the Yellowstone Bank. Meyer was serving as chairman emeritus at the time of his death. On June 1, 1936, Meyer married the love of his life, Bessie Stewart, in Livingston.
Very active in Laurel service organizations for many years, Meyer served in many capacities including president of the Laurel Chamber of Commerce and Laurel Rotary Club.
His banking career included very active participation in the Montana and national banking scene. Among many positions he served as president of the Montana Bankers Association, organizer and long term director of Montana Independent Bankers, director of the Helena branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and president of the Independent Bankers Association of America which represented over 6, 600 banks in 40 states.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bessie; sons, Joel (Judy) Harris of Columbus and Billings and Kent (Linda) Harris of Absarokee. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Julie (Jim) Taylor and daughter, Amanda of Laurel, Jay (Lisa) Harris and sons, Stewart and Wilson of Billings, James (Kathy) Harris and children, Zachary and Elizabeth of Billings, Stephanie (Shawn) Brown and son, Bodhin of Billings, Brett (Lisa) Harris of Denver. Goodbye Dad, Granddad, Great-Granddad, we love you and we’ll miss you.

John ‘Don’ Huber
LEWISTOWN – John Donald “Don” Huber, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the Central Montana Medical Center.
Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge.

Freeda Goodman Kaufman
BOISE, Idaho – Freeda Goodman Kaufman, 85, formerly of Billings, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at a local hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Collister Community Church, 4709 W. State Street. Pastor Lynn Corbett will officiate. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, Aug. 11, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes in Meridian.

Earl Edward Menzel
GREYBULL, Wyo.. – Earl Edward Menzel of Bakersfield, Calif., died on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, while visiting his brother in Greybull.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, in the cemetery in Emblem. Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge.

Daniel Scott Philip
BIG TIMBER – Daniel Scott Philip passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at 4:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Medical Center surrounded by the people who loved him.
Dan was born to Maude Powell and Roderick Philip on Dec. 30, 1943, at Lander, Wyo.
He grew up mainly in South Dakota and served in the military from May 1964 to February 1967. He was an Indian firefighter, worked construction and spent many years tending bar in the Billings area. He moved to Big Timber in 1989 and tended bar until January 1999 when he became unable to work.
He was a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux, Eagle Butte, S.D., and a member of the American Legion Post No. 19 of Big Timber.
He is survived by two sons, Daniel Scott and James Polen; five grandchildren; one sister, Virginia S. Philip; one brother, Roderick Philip of Billings; two aunts, Mary Powell LeBeau and Jackie Philip Means of Rapid City, S.D.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; also his “special little girls, ” Samantha and Shannon Renskers.
He wanted to thank all of his friends and relatives and a “special thank you” for cousins Nancy and Steven, Judy and Jenny, Curtis and Sally for coming to see him and friends Carol and Glenn and Jan and Bob for stopping by. It meant a great deal to him that people cared.
Cremation has taken place. No services are planned per his request. Memorials may be made to Northern Rockies Cancer Center, P.O. Box 369, Billings, MT 59103 or charity of your choice.

Gladys A. Robinson
Gladys A. Robinson, 81, of Billings, passed away Aug. 9, 2000, at St. John’s Lutheran Home following a long illness.
She was born April 13, 1919, in Billings, the daughter of John and Jenny (Seyamore) Pensis. She was raised in Billings and attended Broadwater Elementary, Central Junior High and graduated from Lincoln High School. She attended one year of College at Polytechnical and three years of nurses training at Deaconess Hospital.
She worked at various hospitals and clinics in this area. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Gladys was a member of Lockwood Evangelical and served as church treasurer for many years, and she was active in the church ladies organizations. She had belonged to the Women’s Club in Forsyth.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Joe Chamberlin of Sandpoint, Idaho; grandchildren, Eric and (Amanda) Goyette of Sandpoint; and a granddaughter, Wendy Goyette and her children, Jasmine, Jacob and Jonathan, all of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sister, Lucille Bittick of Billings and a brother-in-law, Roy Robinson of Billings; special friends, Joyce and Stew Deans of Billings and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S.C. Robinson in 1993; sister, Agnes; brothers, Voiles (VJ) and Ansel.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lockwood Evangelical Church. Cremation has taken place and the cremains have been placed with her husband at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family and left at the church.

Ray Webber
FRANNIE, Wyo. – Ray Webber, 88, of Frannie, died in the Powell Nursing Home on Aug. 8, 2000. He was born Nov. 17, 1911, in Macedonia, Mills Co., Iowa, the second child of Robert and Ida Webber.
In 1917, his father homesteaded on the Frannie Division of the Shoshone Project. Ray attended grade and high school at Deaver, graduating in the class of 1930. He married Selma Marie Beall on July 25, 1934.
Ray believed strongly in community service, he was often heard saying “we should always give back more to the community than we take from it.” Ray served as the local 4-H leader for several years and those in the club at that time will remember going to 4-H camp on a bed of straw in the back of his farm truck. Ray served on the Deaver-Frannie irrigation District Board and on the Deaver-Frannie School Board. In 1962, he was elected Big Horn County commissioner and served for five terms. During this time period, he also served as chairman of the States Water Quality Review Board and chairman of the Wyoming County Commisioners Association. In 1982, Ray and Marie semi-retired from farming and for five years enjoyed spending their winters at Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Ray’s wife, Marie, his parents, his sister Wilma and his brothers Cecil and Floyd, preceded him in death. His three daughters, Rita Wambeke and Valerie Hieb of Frannie, Sandra Belus of Sheridan, and son Kurt Webber of Bismarck, N.D., 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren survive him.
Visitation will be on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miratsky-Easton funeral Home in Powell. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on August 12 at the Deaver Methodist Church, Rev. Patricia Greffey officiating. Burial follows at Deaver cemetery.

Wilma Harrell Wix
BOZEMAN – Wilma Harrell Wix, 61, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at her home in Bozeman. She was born Dec. 28, 1938, in Lewistown to William and Virgine (Burnham) Harrell. She attended primary and secondary schools in Lewistown and graduated from Fergus County High School.
On March 13, 1958, in Lewistown, she married the love of her life, William Wix. The couple moved to Bozeman in 1964, and Wilma immediately began to work at Montana State College for the Department Head of Electrical Engineering. She was a member of the Gallatin Valley Christian Church.
Wilma truly valued the time she spent with her four grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending countless hours in her flower garden. She liked to get an early start with her plantings and has been caught, a time or two, dusting the snow from the flower petals. In 1990, they purchased a condo which enabled Wilma to explore the many possibilities of decorating their new home. She was always one to try something at least once, and the sponge painting technique turned out nicely.
She is survived by her husband Bill Wix; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jeannette Wix, and Joe and Bridget Wix; brother, William (Candy) Harrell; sisters, Yvonne (Dennis) Bokovoy; Wynnette (Dave) Regli; grandchildren, Ali, Brandy, Anne, and Rachel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Marie Bramham
BOZEMAN – Marie Bramham, 82, formerly of Livingston, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center
Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory in Livingston. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. Graveside committal and interment of cremated remains will follow the service.
