SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Ruth Schweder Nelson, 94, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in Sheridan Manor.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Steager J. Perdue
MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho – Steager J. Perdue, 77, formerly of Livingston, Mont., died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Boise.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston with burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Ann Patricia Ruegamer
LIVINGSTON – Ann Patricia Ruegamer, 54, of Livingston, formerly of Billings, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, as a result of a car accident in Idaho. The daughter of Davis and Clara Parke, Ann was born in Indian-apolis, Ind., on May 13, 1946.
She was raised in Bridger and was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Parke. She graduated from high school in Bozeman and attended the University of Montana, where she met Bill Ruegamer. They were married in Bozeman on Dec. 28, 1965.
Ann made her home in Livingston with her husband but her heart was at their ranch in Big Timber. She enjoyed tennis and volunteer work at St. Vincent Hospital and the Moss Mansion. She was a member of PEO and was on the Alumni Board at the University of Montana. She always enjoyed the Grizzly football games with her husband and their friends. Her love for traveling took her to France, Germany, Italy, England and South Africa. She was truly loved as a wife and mother and her greatest joy was being a grandma.
She is survived by her husband Bill Ruegamer; her son Wade Ruegamer; her daughter Wendy R. Dewey and her husband David; her granddaughters, Kylee Ruegamer and Brittani Dewey; her sister Jo Parke; brothers, Charlie Parke, Davis Parke, and Paul Parke and his wife Holly; her brother-in-law Vince Ruegamer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was loved by everyone and will be missed.
A private funeral service for Ann’s immediate family will be held at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist with cremation to follow. A public memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church at a later date, contingent upon Bill’s recovery from his injuries and release from the hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ann’s name may be sent to the University of Montana or St. Vincent Hospital.

Judy M. Smith
Judy M. Smith, 38, of Billings, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, Billings Deaconess Hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mortimore Funeral Home in Thermopolis, Wyo., with burial in Riverside cemetery in Thermopolis.

Frances Louise Bailey Swartz
KING SALMON, Alaska – Frances Louise Bailey Swartz, age 39, passed away Sept. 16, 2000, in King Salmon.
She was born Aug. 21, 1961, in Everett, Wash., the daughter of Leonard E. and Maxine Bailey. She attended school in Montana and Minnesota and graduated from Broadview (Mont.) High School. While in Broadview, she met her future husband Randall Swartz. They were married Jan. 16, 1982.
Fran is survived by her husband Randy; daughters Myriah, Sarah and Abi. all of King Salmon; her mother Maxine Buerkle of Reed Point, Mont.; brothers Todd (Paula) Bailey and nieces Jamie, Sheila and Ashley of Broadview, Bill (Robyn) Bolles and nephew Justin and niece Kilah of Centralia, Mo., and Richard (Shannon) Buerkle of Helena; grandmother, Merle McMillen of Laurel, Mont.; sister, Sheila (Shannon) Silvus and family of New York; her mother-in-law, Delores Swartz of Broadview; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Leonard “Gene” Bailey.
Funeral services will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22. Interment will be at the Rockvale cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Broadview Community Center.

Dale J. Thorgaard
CIRCLE – Dale J. Thorgaard, age 42, of Circle, died Sept. 18, 2000 at the McCone County Health Center in Circle.
Dale was born in Wolf Point on Dec. 26, 1957, to parents Robert and Jean Thorgaard. Dale grew up in the Prairie Elk area and attended Prairie Elk grade school. He moved to Circle in 1972, attending Circle High School and graduating in 1976. He attended vo-tech school in Helena for a year and received a degree in welding.
He first worked in Glendive as a welder and married Cora M. Davis in Glendive on May 24, 1980. Dale came back to the farm and farmed with his dad in the early ’80s. They moved to Evanston, Wyo., in 1985, where he worked as a electrician. They later divorced on July 9, 1990, in Evanston. He then moved back in 1991 to help with matters concerning the farm. He worked at the McCone County Courthouse from 1992-1995 and drove school bus from 1991-1992.
He married Patricia Mury in Circle on June 19, 1993. He then went to work at the McCone County Health Center in Circle, where he was employed up until the time of his death. He was also an EMT with the Redwater Valley Ambulance Association in Circle for several years. He was a very good handy-man and gifted in helping people.
Dale is survived by his stepmother, Julie Howard of Circle; his wife, Pat Thorgaard; four daughters, Jean Marie Thorgaard of Circle, Jeri Ann, Jessica Faye and Jodi Lynn Thorgaard, all of Breaux Bridge, La.; two stepdaughters, Tammie Mart of Corvallis, Mont., and Nancy Stempel of Brockway; stepson, Mury Guldborg of Williston, N.D.; a brother, Tom of Libby; one sister, Anita McGinnis of St. John’s, Ariz., and four grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Evangelical Church of Circle with Pastor Scott Anderson officiating services. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical Church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Riverview cemetery in Circle. Memorial contributions may be made to The Redwater Valley Ambulance Association or The McCone County Health Center, both in Circle. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ida Wright
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Ida Wright, 84, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, after a long illness.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Champion Funeral Home.

Donald H. Baugh
HELENA – Donald H. Baugh, 71, of Helena, passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Don was born April 4, 1929, in Casper, Wyo., to Joe and Mae Baugh. At age one, the family moved to Forsyth, where he attended school, graduating from Forsyth High School in 1947. Don attended Eastern Montana College and graduated from the University of Montana at Missoula.
Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy Oct. 4, 1950. He was honorably discharged on July 26, 1954, after which he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and was honorably discharged on March 12, 1960. After his discharge Don went to work for US West, formerly Mountain Bell. He retired April 30, 1987, after working 31 years for US West.
On April 13, 1957, he married Mary E. (Mitzi) Rodocay. They have two children. He was preceded in death by his parents. Don is survived by his wife, Mitzi; his son Michael of Billings; his daughter Toni and son-in-law Brian Donahue and their two children Kellie and Tom, all of Billings; a sister and brother-in-law Jo Mae and Bill Woods and their two children of Kirkland, Wash.
Don enjoyed golfing and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He always looked forward to the annual antelope hunting trip back to the Forsyth area. He also enjoyed working with and swathing for his brother-in-law Ed Grady of Canyon Creek, Mont.
Cremation has taken place and in accordance with his wishes there will be no services. His friends and relatives are cordially invited to join the family at the Green Meadow Country Club in Helena on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. for a heartfelt gathering in Don’s honor.
In lieu of flowers, please send your memorials to St. Peter’s Cancer Center or to your favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hagler-Anderson Mortuary.

Glenn Hiner
CAMAS, Wash. – A Camas resident for the past 40 years, Glenn E. Hiner died at home Sunday, June 25, 2000. He was 73.
Mr. Hiner was born May 27, 1927, at home in Washington Township, Whitley County, Ind.
He attended college at Huntington College in Indiana and Eastern Montana College in Billings. Following his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he taught school in several rural areas of Montana including Wanso, Poplar, Flaxville and Scobey, followed by three years at Burlington school in Billings. He then moved to Camas where he taught until his retirement in 1977.
He enjoyed cooking, square-dancing, sight seeing and singing in the church choir.
His wife Mildred died in 1992. Survivors include two brothers and their wives, Marion and Vivian Hiner of Huntington, Ind., and John and Dorothy Hiner of Billings, along with nieces Carolyn Ann Worley of Kentucky, Susan Meyers of Indiana, Candace Hiner of Alaska and nephews Phillip Loe, and Steve Hiner of Indiana.
His ashes will be scattered at sea. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice or to the Metropolitan Community Church, 2400 N.E. Broadway, Portland, OR. 97232.

Donald Curtis Keeler
BOZEMAN – Donald Curtis Keeler, 72, of Bozeman, formerly of Forsyth, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at the Evergreen Rehabilitation Center in Bozeman following a long battle with cancer. Don did not suffer at all. He moved to Bozeman in July so his son and family could care for him during his last days.
Don was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Criner, Okla., the son of Shelby and Nina Bearden Keeler. After receiving his education in Oklahoma, he moved to California where he began working in oil exploration. Don moved to Montana in 1951 while working with Shell Oil Co. as a seismograph driller.
Don married Violet Hendrickson in Miles City, in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged Sept. 29, 1957. Don was awarded a certificate from the First Guided Missile Group as a trained Nike specialist. He and his family lived in Circle, where he was employed by Mid-Rivers Telephone Co. for 14 years. He then moved to Forsyth in 1974 where he owned and operated a local motel with his former wife. Don loved to fish and hunt and was an excellent trap shooter. He was a handy man and an excellent carpenter refinisher.
He is survived by his mother Nina Keeler; his brothers Olen, Douglas and Kenneth Keeler, all of Blanchard, Okla.; his daughter Cheri Furukawa of Billings; his son Curtis Keeler of Bozeman; and his other daughter Tanna Pippin of Colstrip; his five grandchildren, Jeff, Jeremy, Cory, Shelby and Lindsey. His father Shelby Keeler preceded Don in death.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth. Cremation has taken place. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice or The American Cancer Society.

Joseph Lone Wolf
LAME DEER – Joseph Lone Wolf, 58, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, in Tacoma, Wash., from complications of diabetes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lame Deer with burial in the Lame Deer cemetery. Rausch Funeral Home is in charge.

Laurence Eugene ‘Murph’ Murphy
BOZEMAN – Laurence Eugene “Murph” Murphy, 70, of Bozeman, died suddenly on Sept. 18, 2000. The son of step-father, R. L. and Pauline (Cochran) Littau, he was born on July 17, 1930, in Meade, Kan.
Murph grew up in the Panhandle of Oklahoma and Texas, graduating from high school in Beaver, Okla. He moved to Las Cruces, N.M., in 1948 to drive a truck for American Linen and lived there for 20 years. During this time, he met and married Jimmie Sue Wasson and they spent 32 wonderful years together, moving to Billings in 1968 to be a route driver for Big Sky Linen, then in 1970, moved to Moscow, Idaho, to be plant manager for Total Textile. In 1979 they moved to Livingston where Murph worked for Industrial Towel as general manager until 1995. It was here, in 1990, that Jimmie Sue passed away. Murph moved to Bozeman in 1996 and has lived here since.
Murph liked guns and knives; he loved to fish, go arrowhead hunting and was an avid rock hunter.
Murph is survived by his partner, Carol Hample; his mother, Pauline Littau; daughters, Melinda Murphy and Cindy (Dave) Peters of Hemingford, Neb., Michelle (Joe) Rockafellow of Belgrade, Shirley Murphy of Olympia, Wash., and son, Larry Murphy; five grandchildren, Brian Stables, Mike Asay, Charlie Peters, Chris Harrington and Emily Rockafellow; brothers, Bob of Meade, Kan., Jim of Aurora, Colo., Don of Amarillo, Texas, and Dave of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Sue, and father, R. L. Littau.
Cremation has taken place at Dahl Crematory. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Dahl Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gallatin Valley Humane Society, 2125 N. Rouse, Bozeman, MT 59715 or Park County Humane Society, PO Box 705, Livingston, MT 59047.

Elliott D. Swanson
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Elliott D. Swanson, 61, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at the MeritCare Medical Center in Fargo, N.D.
He was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Sidney, Mont., and grew up and attended school in various towns in western North Dakota and Eastern Montana. He graduated from high school in Makota, N.D., and then attended the University of North Dakota. In 1961, he married Fredricka Steffan and they later divorced. He worked as a banker in Fairview, Absarokee and Richey, Mont. In 1976, he married Anne Mollberg in Glendive, Mont. He retired in 1989, and they moved to Detroit Lakes the same year.
Survivors include his wife, Anne; a son, Paul (Krista) Swanson of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; three daughters, Valarie (Vince) Hillman of Bozeman, Mont., Stephanie (Nick)_ Amsk of Livingston, Mont., and Lisa (Todd) Bradfield of Fairfield, Iowa; three brothers, Larry (Ann) Swanson of Beach, N.D., Bruce (Susan) Swanson of Plains, Mont., and Lee (Noreen) Swanson of Boulder, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fredricka in 1993 and his parents, Francis and Malline Rudd Swanson.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
