A. Fay Harris
A. Fay Harris, 75, of Billings, passed away Thursday, June 18, 1998, at her home. The daughter of Percy and Coral Mann Arnold, she was born in Ohakune, New Zealand, Dec. 31, 1922.
On July 23, 1943, she married Larry Harris in Wellington, New Zealand. They came to the United States in 1945 and settled in Billings. For many years, Fay worked at Sears and enjoyed her volunteer work at Deaconess Hospital. She loved sewing and always enjoyed various art and craft projects. She was also an avid gardener and especially enjoyed her roses. Fay was truly devoted to her entire family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, in 1986, and two brothers.
Survivors include her four children, Lyn Tollackson and her husband, John of Vancouver, Wash., Debourah Higginbotham and her husband, Jim of Billings, Larry Harris and his wife, Sue of Funnyriver, Alaska, and Michelle Webber and her husband, Quintus of Arden Hills, Minn.; her two sisters, May Golding and Evelyn Stone and her husband, Ewan of New Zealand; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, 2812 1st Ave. N., Billings, Mont. 59101.

Effie Averett Mayes
LOVELL, Wyo. - Effie Averett Mayes, 70, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at 10 a.m. in the Lovell L.D.S. Stake Center, with interment in the Lovell cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge.

Roger Nelson
WESTBY - Funeral services for Roger Nelson will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 22. Pastor Barbara Westhoff will officiate at the service at Emmaus Lutheran Church, southwest of Westby; interment will be in the Emmaus cemetery. Roger, 76, died of natural causes at his home southwest of Westby, Friday morning June 19, 1998.
Roger was born Aug. 5, 1921, at the farm home of his parents, Sigvard and Minnie (Larsen) Nelson, southwest of Westby. He grew up on the family farm, attended the McKinley school through the eighth grade, and has lived and farmed in the Westby community all his life. He and his brother, Howard, raised Angus cattle, durum, and wheat. They collected and restored antique tractors, and Roger collected toy cars, trucks, and farm machinery. Never married , he was very close to his brother and sister and their families. He was affiliated with the Emmaus Lutheran Church.
Roger is survived by his brother, Merlyn Howard Nelson, of Westby; and by a sister, Grace Norgaard, of Plentywood; and by nephews and nieces, Carol and Roger Wetz, of Billings, and their daughter, Angela; Donna and Grady Evans, of Plentywood; Barbara and Mike Vigue of Couer d'Alene, Idaho, and their children Bretta Jo, Mike, and Cherise; Gary and Marcia Nelson, of Plentywood, and their children, Scott and Lori; Steve Nelson, of Black Eagle; and Mark and Faye Nelson of Plentywood and their children James and Teresa. He is also survived by Alan Steinberg and his family - Alan has worked for Roger and Howard for 27 years, and they have become part of the family. Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a brother, Bob, in 1970.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.

Eva K. Propp
Eva Kautz Propp died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at St. John's Retirement Home. Eva was born in Laurel on Dec. 27, 1908. Her parents were German immigrants from Russia, where Mr. Kautz was a school teacher. They finally settled in the valley on a farm near Newton. Eva grew up on this farm along with two sisters and two brothers. She attended the Gurnsey School in the valley through all but her last year, which was in Worden. On Dec. 30, 1925, Eva was united in marriage to Rudy Propp of Worden.
In 1935, the family moved to Sidney, where they farmed and enjoyed the community for nearly 30 years, after which they traveled considerably and moved to Texas for nearly 10 years to be near their sons and their families. In 1982, they moved back to Billings to enjoy a few years with relatives and friends of their generation. Rudy died in 1987 and Eva has resided in Billings ever since.
Eva had enjoyed flower gardening and volunteer work in her earlier years. More recently, she has enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends.
Eva is survived by her sons, Clarence Propp and wife, Mary of Billings, Don Propp and wife, Shirley of Azle, Texas; a sister, Freda Topel of Billings; and sister-in-law, Rose Kautz of Billings; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Propp; two brothers, Henry and Jake Kautz; and a sister, Katherine Yost.
Funeral services pending at Pilgrim Congregational Church, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Pilgrim Congregational Church. Dahl Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Anna Riemann
COLUMBUS - Anna M. Riemann, 90, of Columbus, passed away Friday, June 19, 1998, at Stillwater Community Hospital.
Anna was born Nov. 18, 1907, in Dickenson, N.D., to Joseph an Anna Zastoupil. She married Ted Riemann in Roundup in 1925. They lived in Hardin for 17 years, where they farmed until moving to Columbus in 1942.
She is survived by a son, Arden and wife, Edith; a daughter, Darlene Hand and husband, Jim; a son, Dormann and wife, Gretchen; a daughter, Donna Marsh and husband, Bud; a son, Curtis and wife, Francie; daughter-in-law, Bunny Mobley; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Froelick and Jeanette Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; son, Ted Jr.; grandson, Rodney Marsh; one sister; and ten brothers.
Anna was a devoted member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she cleaned and stoked the coal and wood stove for many years. She was the type of person who loved her children, grandchildren and friends. She was an excellent cook and loved her flowers, which the whole community enjoyed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at St. James Lutheran Church, with interment in Mountainview cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Chapel in Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or memorials of one's choice.

Bertha Pearl Brosious
POWELL, Wyo. - Bertha Pearl Brosious, 96, of Powell, died at the Powell Nursing Home, Saturday, June 20.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 22 at the Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the funeral home, with interment in the Mount View cemetery in Basin.

Emil E. Doerr
LOVELL, Wyo. - Emil E. Doerr, 78, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at his home southwest of Lovell, of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, in St. John's Lutheran Church in Lovell, with interment in the Lovell cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge.

Archie L. Dressler
Archie L. Dressler, 86, of Billings, passed away Friday morning, June 19, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital. The son of Lewis and Mattie Amende Dressler, he was born in Clyde, N.D., on March 29, 1912.
On Feb. 28, 1933, he married Melba Lowery in Hardin. Archie was a rancher and a small business owner in Montana and Wyoming for many years. His true affection for his family was evident in the way he and Melba raised their two sons and three grandchildren. Archie was a great storyteller who loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and working as an outfitter and guide. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a past member of Odd Fellows Lodge 28 in Gillette, Wyo.
Archie was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leo and Roy Dressler.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Melba of Billings; his two sons, Marion Dressler of Billings and Jim Dressler and his wife, Sally of Buffalo, Wyo.; his sister, Elsie Fish of Rangley, Colo.; his seven grandchildren, Dixie Mace (Jerry), Cindy Lazz (Doug), Marty Dressler (Julie), Casey Dressler (Debbie) Ted Wall, Alyson Flatness and Raulie Dressler; and his great-grandchildren, Aaron, Rodney, Jared, Courtney, Brittney, Cassie and Sara.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Heights Chapel. Memorials may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

Jesse W. Frost
CODY, Wyo. - Jesse W. Frost, 77, died Wednesday, June 18, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 22, at the Ballard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cody, with interment in the Riverside cemetery.

Charles A. Greene
EAST HELENA - Charles A. Greene, 78, 3735 Canyon Ferry Road, East Helena, passed away at St. Peter's Hospital early Friday morning following a stroke. He was born in Dillon on March 10, 1920, to Charles Andrew and Elizabeth (Edmisten) Green.
Charlie graduated from Beaverhead County High School in Dillon in 1938, and then attended Montana State College in Bozeman on a Union Pacific Scholarship. He had eight credits left to graduate when Uncle Sam drafted him into the U.S. Army. He served 29 months in the Medics, attached to the 8th Air Force in England during WWII, receiving an honorable discharge in August, 1945.
His first daughter, "Bunny" was 22 months old before he ever saw her. After military service, he was encouraged to finish his education by correspondence and he earned his bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry in 1946.
Charles married Louise J. Oxe in Dillon, on Dec. 20, 1941. They were one of the first married couples on campus at MSC. The family began ranching near Augusta, where they raised Anxiety, the Fourth Purebred Cattle for 10 years. They purchased their first bull from Lester Thompson in the Gallatin Valley. The family lived on the ranch until rheumatoid arthritis forced Charles to pursue other means of supporting his family.
They moved into Bozeman in 1956, where he earned his masters degree in agriculture education. He then student taught in Simms. He worked in the insurance business for a short time and then went to work for the Farmers Home Administration, becoming district supervisor of the Missoula office. He was transferred to the state office in Bozeman where the family lived for 24 years, retiring in 1985. During those years, he was the liaison between the Farmers Home Administration and the seven Indian tribes of Montana.
He loved to garden and cared for a large garden at his home in East Helena. His favorite fishing buddy was his grandson, Chad. He dearly loved his family and friends. He was a member of the East Helena United Methodist Church, Gallatin Masonic Lodge 6 AF&AM, of Bozeman, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Livingston, Algeria Shrine Temple of Helena, a past worthy Patron of the Belgrade Chapter, Order of Eastern Star as well as Watchman of Shepherds in the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Bozeman, a member of NARFE, and the DAV, and a member of the Bozeman Breakfast Optimists Club.
Charles is survived by his wife, Louise of East Helena; daughter, Sheryn Hara of Seattle; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Pat Astore of Helena; grandchildren, Chad and his wife, Sarah of Helena, Jennifer, Todd and Stephanie of Seattle. He also leaves two beautiful great-grandsons, Colter and Dylan Steward; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Cremation will follow the service, with the ashes to be interred in the Veterans cemetery in Helena at a later date. Memorials in his name may be made to the Shriners Hospital For Crippled Children, 911 West 5th Ave., Spokane, Wash., 99210-2472.

Borddie J. Green
MELVILLE - Borddie J. Green, 94, of Melville, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at the Pioneer Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Melville Lutheran Church, with interment in the Melville cemetery. Cremation or Funeral Gallery is in charge.

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Wanda C. Johnston, 86, of Sheridan, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at her home.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Ferries Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at Monument Hill cemetery in Thermopolis.

LeRoy J. Keilman
LeRoy J. Keilman, 87, of Billings, formerly of Missoula, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at his home in Billings.
A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at St. Bernard's Church. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the church, with Rite of Committal in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Missoula, 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Heights Chapel is in charge.

Edith 'Edie' Sterling
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Edith "Edie" Sterling, 80, of Sheridan, died Friday, June 19, 1998, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Memorial services will be held later this summer. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Beverely J. Hallowell
HARDIN - Beverley Joyce Hallowell, 67, of Hardin, died Friday, June 19, 1998, in Hardin.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Lynwood, Wash. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is in charge.

James Lewis Hamrick
James Lewis Hamrick, age 58, of Billings, passed away Monday, June 15, 1998, peacefully at home, of natural causes. Born Sept. 5, 1939, in Gandeeville, W.Va., he went to school in Gandeeville and Walton, W.Va., and was known by everyone as Pinky Lee.
He entered the U.S. Air Force and was discharged in 1961. He then entered the U.S. Army until 1964. After that, he trucked to Ohio, where in 1967, he began his career with Consolidated Freightways. He transferred from Ohio to Billings in 1971, and retired in 1996.
He married Sept. 30, 1974, to Linda Fitzer and from this marriage came daughter, Kristie Dawne and son, Jason Noyes.
He loved gardening, camping, and making his special wines. He was always willing to help the other person. He was a collector of everything. He loved to meet all his buddies at Tiny's Tavern over a cold Rainier.
Survivors include son, Jason of Bozeman; daughter, Kristie of Columbus; mother, Aldena Haught of Spencer, W.Va.; brothers, David of Loonyville, W.Va., Bobby of Spencer, W.Va., Bill of Loonyville, W.Va., Eddie of Bardwell, Texas, Tom of Clinton, Ohio, Tony of Gandeeville, W.Va.; sisters, Mary Rose Zenau of Palm Coast, Fla., Susie Linkinogger, Spencer, W.Va., Panchetta Scammell, of Melbourne, Fla.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Smith Downtown Chapel. All friends, come join us for a celebration of his life, after memorial services, at Tiny's Tavern. Good bye Dad, Brother, Son, and special friend, we will all miss you.

Anker H. Hanson
MALTA - Anker H. Hanson, 91, died Thursday, June 18, in Phillips County Good Samaritan Center in Malta of natural causes.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, in the Malta cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
