SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Lorene Wondra Welch, 78, died Thursday, Oct. 8, at Sheridan County Memorial Hospital.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Holy Name Catholic Church with burial in Sheridan Elk cemetery.

Harold Wester
GLENDIVE - Harold Wester, 91, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Zion Lutheran Church. A private family committal service will be held at a later date at Dawson County cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is in charge.

Herman Yeager
Herman Yeager, 77, left to be with his Maker on Oct. 10, 1998, at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings, Mont. Herman was born in Sidney, Mont., on Nov. 18, 1920, to Henry and Eva (Batt) Yeager. Herman lived in Sidney until he was two years old, at which time the family moved to Laurel where he resided until the time of his death.
In 1943, Herman enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Reno in the South Pacific. He survived numerous Japanese attacks, two sinking ships and was honorably discharged in 1946. Returning to Laurel, he went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad. After 43 years of railroading, he retired in 1980. He then went to work for the Mill and Italian ditches as a rider for eight years. He also worked for various farmers in Laurel. He was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Laurel and was active in the church.
Herman married Dolores Whitman in Billings on April 19, 1950. They had four children and 48 years of happiness.
Herman's greatest love was his family and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan. In 1995-1996 he was presented with the Booster of the Year award. He attended most all sporting events. Herman will be remembered for his kind heart, helping hand and his sense of humor.
Herman is survived by his wife, Dolores, and four children: Sam Yeager and wife, Marge of Casper, Wyo., Yvonne Hutzenbiler and husband, Ron of Kalispell, Mont., Jim Yeager and wife, Shelly of Columbus, Mont., Sue Knaub and husband, Jeff of Laurel, Mont.; two sisters, Mary Kramer of Billings, Mont., and Amelia Yeager of Laurel, Mont.; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church in Laurel at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Memorials may be made to: American Legion Baseball, Box 144, Laurel, MT 59044. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Alvin Olson
SCOBEY - Alvin Olson, 66, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, near his farm north of Four Buttes of hypothermia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Scobey Lutheran Church with interment in the Scobey cemetery.

Dorothy Johnson
Dorothy Johnson, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at St. John's Lutheran Nursing Home.
Services and interment will be Thursday, Oct. 15, in Denver, Colo. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of local arrangements.

John Wayne Elkin
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - John Wayne Elkin, 57, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Holy Name Catholic Church.

Alvin Bruce Garland Jr.
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Alvin Bruce Garland Jr., 26, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at his home.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Kane Funeral Home.

Eleanor Catherine Ellen Tracy Adams
HOBSON - Eleanor Catherine Ellen Tracy Adams, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Home in Lewistown.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Creel Funeral Home in Lewistown. Funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment in the Philbrook cemetery.

Jean L. Andersen
SIDNEY - Jean L. Andersen, 73, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Home Sweet Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Fulkerson Memorial Chapel with interment in the Sidney cemetery.

Janet E. Cade
Janet E. Cade, 64, of Billings, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, following a 14-month battle with brain cancer.
Born Aug. 18, 1934, in Fort Benton, she was the youngest of six children born to Bertha and Charles Elliott Sr., who homesteaded north of Fort Benton. Janet spent her early years in the Fort Benton area and married Leland P. Cade in 1953. Janet and Leland had two children, and between 1963 and 1977 they lived in Fort Benton; Madison, Wis.; Palmer, Alaska; Spokane, Wash.; and Great Falls. Janet and Leland made Billings their home in 1978.
Janet was active in the Christian churches to which she belonged, serving in various capacities from choir member to chairwoman of the board. She did volunteer work for Family Services in Billings, mending thousands of pieces of donated clothing. In addition, she and her husband spent many days working at the Montana Agricultural Center and Museum in Fort Benton, a favorite outlet for their creative energies.
Janet was a woman of many talents. As a farm girl at heart, she was comfortable around big equipment and was a whiz mechanic. After marrying, she and Leland combined their skills and built their first home. Next, Janet honed her talents in the kitchen and was perhaps best known for her homemade bread, which regularly found its way to the homes of friends. Music was near and dear to her heart, and in addition to playing the saxophone, piano, and organ, she gave piano and organ lessons. She was a devoted wife for 45 years, a mother of boundless love, and a caring friend to many. We loved her dearly and were privileged to have been loved by her.
Janet is survived by her husband, Leland; a son, Randall, and his wife, Martti, and two grandchildren, Lindsay and Elliott of The Woodlands, Texas; a daughter, Valine of Westminster, Colo.; a sister, Margaret of Redmond, Wash.; and a sister, Florence of Great Falls.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Findley; and brothers, Dean Elliott and Charles Elliott Jr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cade will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Church, Fort Benton. Following the service and interment, family and friends are invited to celebrate Janet's life at a luncheon at the Montana Agricultural Center and Museum.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at 11 a.m., at Grace United Methodist Church in Billings. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.
Memorials may be made to the Montana Agricultural Center and Museum in Fort Benton, or the charity of your choice. Smith West Chapel in Billings and Benton Funeral home in Fort Benton in charge of arrangements.

Daniel James Duerre
BEACH, N.D. - Daniel James Duerre, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, in Dickinson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Beach High School Gymnasium. There will also be services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mohall with interment in McKinney cemetery near Mohall. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert M. 'Big Boy' Falls Down Jr.
LODGE GRASS - Robert McKinley Falls Down Jr., "Big Boy, " 50, of Lodge Grass, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, of injuries sustained in a pickup truck rollover south of Lodge Grass.
Ammas'aa Itchish (Well to do) was born Jan. 29, 1948, in Crow Agency, a son of Delphine Backbone and Robert Falls Down Sr. During his younger years, he was raised by his paternal grandparents, attending schools in Crow Agency. He graduated from Lodge Grass High School in 1966. While in high school, he excelled in basketball and football. He later attended Billings Business College, Long Beach Business College and Eastern Montana College. He loved working outdoors and was at one time employed for Vision Quest in Arizona and for the Crow Tribal AML Program. He was currently employed with the Indian Health Service housekeeping department.
He married Bonita Hawk and was later divorced. He married Myra Gros Ventre and was later divorced.
Robert played independent basketball for many years and was voted the MVP of an independent tournament in Nevada in 1991. He was the leader of an Indian relay team with his brothers, winning on many occasions. He participated in traditional arrow throwing events. He has been the Lodge Grass District Arrow Commissioner since 1983, with his team winning the Senior Arrow Tournament for 15 consecutive years.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, Big Lodge Clan, a Child of the Bad War Deeds Clan and an official with the Montana Officials Association.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a son, Bryan Old Bull of Lodge Grass; a daughter, Kathy (Edison) Tsosie of New Mexico; two adopted daughters, Shannon White Hawk of Crow Agency and Dalyn (Girl) Old Bull of Lodge Grass; two adopted sons, Elvis Old Bull of Lodge Grass and Tyler Left Hand of Billings; five brothers, Ronald (Georgine) Falls Down and Marvin (Gwen) Falls Down Sr. of Lodge Grass, Clayton (Rebecca) Falls Down of Billings, Gary (Kathy) Gardner of Hardin and Rudolph (Iva) Shane of Crow Agency; three sisters, Dora (Jerome) Hugs of Pryor, Ruth (Stanley) Bell Rock and Jennifer Onion of Lodge Grass; his father, Walter Onion of Lodge Grass; five aunts, Ruth Alden, Frances Bends, Phyllis Big Medicine, Ramona Real Bird and Wilma Stewart; two uncles, Tommy and Frank Backbone Sr.; five grandchildren; he was a special "Uncle" to his numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lodge Grass First Crow Indian Baptist Mission. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Elizabeth C. Ford
A private graveside service will be held on Oct. 17, 1998, for Elizabeth (Betty) Ford. Betty died at the age of 84 on Oct. 9, 1998, in Billings.
Mrs. Ford was born on July 24, 1914, in rural Jefferson County. She was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Ballard) Cloninger, the seventh of 11 children. She was a direct descendant of "Granny Yates, " a well-known pioneer in the area. Her family farmed in several locations in the Gallatin Valley.
Mrs. Ford graduated from Belgrade High School in 1931. She was united in marriage to Harold R. Ford on Feb. 21, 1934, in Bozeman. Together they raised two daughters, living in several communities in Montana. She worked for Singer Sewing Company in Billings.
After Mr. Ford retired from Northern Pacific Railroad, they moved to Biloxi, Miss. There they purchased a small business. Harold died in Biloxi in 1969. Mrs. Ford lived in Michigan, for approximately 10 years, with her daughter, Pat, and son-in-law, Tod after the death of Harold. During that time she returned to work for Singer Sewing Machine Company. Mrs. Ford then moved back "home" to Montana with her family, continuing her employment with Singer in Bozeman. She later retired from Singer and moved to Billings where she has resided for the past 13 years.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Tod Ball of Hood River, Ore.; their son, David C. Ball and her great grandchildren, Ian and Jessie Ball of Manhattan; grandson, Stephen L. Ruff of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; a sister, Jane Judd of Arkansas City, Kan.; a brother, W. F. (Bus) Cloninger of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Wayne Cloninger of Las Vegas, Nev.; and special friend, Marvin Stotz of Billings.
Her daughter, Carol Jean Ruff, preceded her in death in 1959.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings. The family suggests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Home, 3940 Rimrock Road, Billings 59102, or to the Shriners Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 20673, Billings 59104-0673. Dahl Funeral Chapels is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Ann Giesler
BAKER - Joe Ann Giesler, 70, of Baker, passed away on Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at the Eagle Cliff Manor in Billings. She was born on Nov. 19, 1927, the daughter of Paul Kelly "Tutor" and Grace M. (Jones) Davis at Pueblo, Colo. She spent her youth in New Mexico, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming and finally relocated permanently to Montana. Joe Ann raised her family of four children in Plevna where they would spend many happy and memorable days. She moved to Baker where she continued her career as a Ward Clerk and a Certified Nurse's Aide at the Fallon Medical Complex. She was awarded many certificates for her outstanding performance and unfailing commitment in her 23 years of dedication and service. Joe Ann retired and moved to Billings in 1992, spending her time with friends in her community and family. Through her life on Earth, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, bowling, crocheting, and embroidery. Her generosity of spirit and her great love for others became her hallmark. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who have been blessed to have her in their lives. We will miss you deeply "Grandma Wart."
Survivors include: three daughters: Lou Hogue and her husband, Jim of Billings, Joy Hawkinson of Glendive and Mary Napton and her husband, Doug of Glendive; six grandchildren: Kelley (Craig) Dobbs, Jamie (Jeff) Reed, both of Seattle, Wash., Michael Hawkinson of Glendive, Paula Williams of East Grand Forks, N.D., Keri (Dennis) Hansen of Denver, Colo., and Richie Napton of Wolf Point; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rex Jones and John Giesler, and a son, Paul Kelly Jones.
A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Stevenson's Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the Baker Community Church with the Rev. Jean McCusker officiating. Burial will be held on Friday, at 2 p.m. in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Ekalaka. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of the arrangements.

Marion K. Goulet
MALTA - Marion K. Goulet, 64, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at the Phillips County Hospital of a stroke.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the church with interment in the Malta cemetery. Adams Funeral Home is in charge.

Albert Hochhalter
HARDIN - Albert Hochhalter, 77, passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, in the Sheridan, Wyo., V.A. Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was born May 16, 1921, in Leith, N.D., a son of Frederick and Amelia Link Hochhalter.
Albert moved to the Hardin area with his parents in 1937 and the family worked sugar beets and later he was employed at the Holly Sugar factory.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on April 23, 1942, and during WW2 served in the Pacific theater. He later served during the Korean Conflict. He received his medical discharge at Mare Island, Calif., on March 3, 1950. After his discharge, he worked at various occupations throughout the United States, returning to Montana, living in Great Falls, Billings and Hardin. Albert never married .
Survivors include three brothers, Henry of Hardin, Alvin of Great Falls and Edward of Olympia, Wash.; three sisters, Eva Hillius of Leith, Lydia Fried and Albina Meyer of Hardin; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Hardin, Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with funeral arrangements.

John P. Huber
TERRY - John P. Huber, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at the Prairie Community Nursing Home.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with private interment at a later date on the family ranch.
