Mozelle Robbins Whitman
Mozelle Robbins Whitman, 85, of Lewisville died June 22 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born August 10, 1920, in Yadkin County to Charles Royal and Hariet Howard Robbins. She was retired from P.H. Hanes Knitting Co. with 34 years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hazel Dobson of Statesville and Mattie Campbell of Lewisville; two brothers, Claude Robbins of Jonesville and Hal Robbins of Hamptonville; and her husband, William Ray Whitman.
Surviving are three daughters, Bettie Brooks and husband Rick, Ann Ridings and husband Tommy of Lewisville and Dot Collins and husband Tommy of King; two granddaughters, Debbie Solomon and Kim Ridings; two grandsons, Bobby Hayes and Eddie Hayes; great-grandson Jeffery Scott Hayes of the home; and a sister, Ruth Casstevens of Lewisville.
Funeral services were held at Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel with Pastor Floyd Taylor officiating. Burial followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.

Edith Marshall Howard
Edith Marshall Howard, 82, of Walkertown died June 21 at home. She was born on September 27, 1923, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Arch William and Lalla Teague Marshall. She was a member of Walkertown First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sue Bowden and husband Tom of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jo Peddycord and husband Dan of Lewisville; five grandchildren, Kelly Gregson and husband Shawn, Karen Baker and husband Will and Thomas Bowden IV, all of Myrtle Beach, Kristin Peddycord of Asheville and Allison Peddycord of Waynesville; great-grandchildren Owen Baker and Ashley Gregson, both of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Fannie M. Stewart of Concord; a sister-in-law, Ann W. Howard of Walkertown; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services were held at Walkertown First Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Wagoner and Rev. Jerry Benefield officiating.

Becky Vogler Nelson
Becky Vogler Nelson, 55, of Pfafftown died June 22 at her home. She was born in Forsyth County on May 28, 1951, to Coy Lee and Mary Katherine Sapp Vogler. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist.
Surviving are her children, Monty Nelson of King, Dawn Nelson of King, Lori Gibson of Tobaccoville and Staci Edwards of Pfafftown; a special son-in-law, Paul Edwards of Pfafftown; her mother, Mary Katherine Sapp Vogler of Pfafftown; a sister, Linda Vogler of Pfafftown; and 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Brooke, Kaylen, Adreanna, Sarah, Jonah, Dalton, Rebekah, Ellie, Carly and Anna.
Funeral services were held at Huff Funeral Home Chapel in East Bend with Rev. Glinard Lawson and Rev. Charles Vogler officiating.

Debra Tilley Spillman
Debra “Debbie” Tilley Spillman, 50, of Pfafftown died June 21 in Patrick County, Va. She was born on August 12, 1955, in Forsyth County to Lois J. Tilley and the late James C. Tilley. She worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. She was preceded in death by her father, James C. Tilley.
Surviving are her daughter, Leslie Spillman Gray and husband Larry of Durham; Leslie’s father, Mickey Spillman of East Bend; her mother, Lois J. Tilley of Pinnacle; four brothers, Larry Tilley of Hastings, Mich., Jerry Tilley of Pfafftown, Tim Tilley of Pilot Mountain and Michael Tilley of Pilot Mountain; two sisters, Cindy Moody of Raleigh and Renee T. Robertson of Raleigh; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Brims Grove Baptist Church with Brother Don Collins officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Kennith Daniel Cochran
Kennith Daniel Cochran, 65, of Winston-Salem died June 22 at his home. He was born in Raleigh County, W.Va., to the late Roy and Mildred Cochran. He was a retired driver from Roadway and a diesel mechanic with Pilot Freight Carriers for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 289 of Winston-Salem and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Roy Junior Cochran.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Naoma June Cochran of the home; a son, John Daniel Cochran and wife Annette of Clemmons; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Danielle Cochran, and her mother, Paula F. Cochran, of Thomasville; stepgrandchildren Adam and Kelly Hill; a special nephew, Jason Terry of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Charles Cochran of West Virginia and Dallas Cochran and wife Gloria of Virginia; two sisters, Linda Vandall and husband Eddie and Barbara Grose and husband Conley, both of West Virginia; six brothers-in-law, Lewis Lester and wife Judy of Virginia, Raymond Lester and wife Joann, Russell Lester and wife Margaret, Floyd Lester and wife Martha, John Lester Jr. and wife Patricia and Kenneth Lester and wife Joann, all of West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Ida Mae Helmandollar, and husband Marty of West Virginia; and his best friend, Dennis King of Virginia.

Margaret Willis Edwards
Margaret Willis Edwards, 74, of Winston-Salem died June 24 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 9, 1932, in Reidsville to Dewey T. and Manie Nance Willis. She was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools as a teacher at Griffith Elementary School. She was a Red Hatter and also volunteered at Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Richard Edwards.
Surviving are three daughters, Ellen Drechsler and husband Paul of Mocksville, Edith Lawson and husband Tom of Lewisville and Claudia Page of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Abe and Zach Drechsler, Andrew and Evan Lawson and Kaitlin Page; and a sister, Ruth Bennett and husband Charlie of Reidsville.
Funeral services were held at Ardmore Baptist Church with Rev. Christa Warise and Rev. Ty Talton officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Dr. Sudhir Vinayak Raikar
Dr. Sudhir Vinayak Raikar, 59, of Lewisville died June 23 at his home. He was born November 9, 1946, in Bombay, India, to Vinayak Parshuram and Ranjana Raikar. He moved to the United States in 1972. He retired from Forsyth Medical Center as an anesthesiologist in 1997.
Surviving are his wife, Neeta; a daughter, Rupa Sheth and husband Rishi of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Sachin Raikar; a grandson, Arjun Sheth; and three sisters, Vidya, Meena and Sunita.
Funeral services were held at Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel.

Helen Lincoln Brewer
Helen Lincoln Brewer, 81, of Winston-Salem died June 23 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born to the late Clyde Roy and Minnie Walker Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Al Lincoln, C.R. Lincoln Jr. and Jack Lincoln.
Surviving are two nephews, Clyde Roy Lincoln and wife Karen of Connecticut and A.J. Lincoln of Winston-Salem; and five nieces, Linda Lincoln Miller and husband Daniel of Winston-Salem, Deborah Lincoln of Currie, Jackie Cole and husband Sam of Welcome, Janet Sprinkle and husband Bryan of Statesville and Joan Stewart Lincoln of Clemmons.
A graveside service was held at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Miller Allen and Rev. David Williamson officiating.

Grace Kiger Tesh
Grace Kiger Tesh, 84, of Clemmons died August 20 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 4, 1922, in Stokes County to Fongus and Daisy Kiger. She was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and was a member of the Ladies’ Circle at Good Hope United Methodist Church. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels for more than 23 years and loved gardening and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Eugene Tesh.
Surviving are a son, Donald Tesh of Winston-Salem; a granddaughter, Angela Tesh Pridgen, and husband Dale of Midway; and two great-grandchildren, Travis Lee Pridgen and Lynda Pridgen Lawson.
A graveside service was held at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Lillian Anna Anderson
Lillian “Susie” Anna Anderson, 84, of Clemmons died August 22 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born December 16, 1921, to William and Caroline Baessler in New York City, N.Y. For the last three years, she resided at Clemmons Village I Assisted Living Facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward William Anderson.
Surviving are three children, Barbara Barker, Roy Anderson and Craig Anderson; seven grandchildren, Stacy Sink and husband Jeff, Kelly Anderson, Marie Guerin, Gail Guerin, Cindy Couch and husband Rob, Allen Guerin and wife Carrie, and Lori Crawford; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Roy King
Lawrence Roy “Shorty” King of Pfafftown died August 21.
Surviving is his wife, Hazel L. King.
A graveside service was held at Forbush Friends Church Cemetery.

Ella Bryant Dyer
Ella Bryant Dyer, 65, formerly of Clemmons died August 24 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, from complications due to COPD. She was born December 15, 1940, in Marion County, S.C., to Marion Calloway and Ida Pearl Mullins Bryant.
Surviving are a son, David Dyer Jr. and wife Cathy of Charlotte; a daughter, Cyndie Dyer and husband Duane Hayes of Cary; four grandchildren, Heath and Duncan Dyer and Simon and Andrew Hayes; a brother; and four sisters.
A graveside service was held at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Robin Dyer officiating.

Cuma Whittington McNeill
Cuma Whittington McNeill, 65, of Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Laurinburg, NC, died August 22. She was born October 3, 1940, in Lumberton. She worked for 19 years for Southern Bell and for seven years with AT&T. She was also employed by Van Ran and C-Win Communications. She retired from C-Win in March 2006. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James Monroe and Myrtis Jerome Whittington.
Surviving are her sons, Paul E. McNeill Jr. and wife Lynn of Charlotte and D. Brian McNeill and wife Cynthia of Lewisville; sister Gloria J. Whittington of Lawrenceville; brother James Monroe Whittington Jr. of Rayfield, Texas; grandchildren Paige and Emily McNeill of Charlotte and David and Kaitlin McNeill of Lewisville; five nieces; and a nephew.
A memorial service was held in the chapel of Tom M. Wages Funeral Service in Lawrenceville.

Lester O’Harrah
Lester O’Harrah, 76, of Lewisville died August 26. He was born in Barnesboro, Pa. He was a retired truck driver for McLean Trucking. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran; a member of Union United Methodist Church; he was a past master of West Bend Lodge No. 434 AF and AM; American Legion Post No. 0055;Winston-Salem Scottish Rite Bodies; and Loyal Order of The Moose, Lodge No. 466. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Mary Seats O’Harrah.
Surviving are a daughter, Robin O’Harrah of Winston-Salem; three sons, Jeff O’Harrah and wife Alyce of Knoxville Tenn., Eric O’Harrah of Powell, Tenn., and Tim O’Harrah of Spring Hill Fla.; two grandchildren, Sandra and Jeremy; and two great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Scotty.
Funeral services were held at Union United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mabel M. Wagner
Mabel M. Wagner, 88, of Winston-Salem died August 23. She was born June 7, 1918, in Salem. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Williams, and her brother, Raymond Myers.
Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Newsome of Clemmons and Barbara Gentry of Salter Path; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service was held at Woodland Cemetery.

Emory Garland Moore
Emory Garland Moore, 79, of Winston-Salem died August 26 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born July 30, 1927, in Forsyth County to Chaffin Clayton and Nellie Poplin Moore. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and owned and operated Moore and Sons Roofing Co.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Wanda Drach Moore of the home; seven children, Steven Moore and wife Glenda, Randall Moore and wife Robin of Winston-Salem, Paula Butner of Mocksville, Bradley Moore of Clemmons, Trish Prevette and husband Paul of Winston-Salem, Fredrick Borgmann of Philadelphia, Pa. and Richard Moore and wife Liliana of Winston-Salem; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Crestview Memorial Park with Richard Moore officiating.

Mary Louise Hayes Long
Mary Louise Hayes Long, 73, of Pfafftown died August 26 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born December 2, 1932, in Yadkin County to the late John and Freida Hayes. She retired from Sara Lee after 40 years of service with them and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Pfafftown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight and Hubert Hayes; and two sisters, Gerry Ingram and Lillian Thomas.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Joe T. Long; three daughters, Kathi Long, Tammy Jarvis and husband Todd, and Tanya Brimmer and husband John; three grandchildren, Bryant Jarvis, Jed Brimmer and Holt Brimmer; two brothers, Alton Hayes and wife Kathy, and Wayne Hayes and wife Kay; two sisters, Lois Shore and husband Coolidge, and Doris Wilmore and husband John; and many more family members and friends.
Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Carl Levern Templeton
Carl Levern Templeton, 82, of Lewisville, formerly of Winston-Salem, died August 26 at his residence. He was born November 25, 1923, in Forsyth County to John Dockery and Sallie M. Isenhour Templeton. He was retired from Salem Steel Co. and was an active member of Robinhood Road Baptist Church. He was a past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 466, and volunteered much time there while his health allowed. He served in France and Germany during World War II, in the Battery C, 871st Field Artillery Battalion of the U.S. Army’s 66th Division Black Panthers. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Ralph Templeton; two sisters, Grace Vanderwalker and Yetive Bolen; and his wife, Garnetta B. Templeton.
Surviving are a stepson, Robert R. Bolling and wife Sharon; a grandson, Robert R. Bolling Jr. and wife Janet; two great-grandchildren, Meagan and Cameron Shaw; three sisters, Dorothy Sparks, Lutell Matthews and Nancy Martin; and a brother, James Templeton.
Funeral services were held at Robinhood Road Baptist Church with Rev. John Hackworth officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Jean White Lanning
Jean White Lanning, 69, of Winston-Salem died August 24 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 8, 1937, in Forsyth County to James M. and Ruby Southern White. She was a member of Pfafftown Christian Church for over 35 years. She was a talented artist and musician for as long as she was able and always had a smile on her face and was always thinking of others.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 51 years, Harold D. Lanning of the home; two daughters, Laurie Lanning Renner of Clemmons and Mindy Lanning Mock and husband David of Lewisville; and three grandchildren, Matthew Renner, Malinda “ Nikki” Mock and Ashley Mock.
A memorial service was held at Pfafftown Christian Church, with Rev. Tom Everton officiating.

Laura Mae Pierce
Laura Mae Pierce, 71, of Clemmons died August 27.
Funeral services were held at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Eugene Wilson Sturdivant
Eugene Wilson Sturdivant, 79, of Lewisville died August 27 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born July 19, 1927, in Wilkes County to Charlie C. and Mary Jane Hager Sturdivant. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Lewisville. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Hutchens Sturdivant; two brothers, Paul and Ernest Sturdivant; and two sisters, Margie Seagraves and Irene Isaac.
Surviving are a sister, Ann S. Stewart of Winston-Salem; a brother, Howard Sturdivant and wife Nina of Winston-Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Concord United Methodist Church with Pastor Thomas Albert officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
