LUMBER BRIDGE -- Mrs. Catherine Jacobs, 60, of 8100 Arabia Road died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Trinity House of Prayer by the Revs. Stedford Henderson and Ronald Bryant. Burial will be in Galilee Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson’s Funeral Home of Pembroke.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her husband, Lonzo Jacobs of Lumber Bridge; four sons, Lonzo Jacobs Jr., Zackerous Jacobs, Simon Jacobs and Matthew Jacobs, all of Lumber Bridge; two daughters, Cathy S. Adkins of Lumber Bridge and Nancy Hunt of Pembroke; her father, Edgar Bryant of Lumber Bridge; nine brothers, Joseph Bryant, Reed Bryant, Timmy Bryant, Jermiah Bryant, Jonathan Bryant and John Bryant, all of Lumber Bridge, and James Bryant, Paul Bryant and Steven Bryant, all of Fayetteville; two sisters, Polly A. Jones of Lumber Bridge and Diane Jacobs of Elizabethtown; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 at the church.
Miss Brenda K. Wright (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Miss Brenda Kay Wright, 47, of 438 Clarmont Ave., formerly of Clinton, N.C., died Saturday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Pauls Disciples Church of Christ in Clinton by elder E.T. Martin. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Clinton.
Miss Wright is survived by her mother, Daisy Wright of Brooklyn; her father, Otis C. Wright Sr. of Wallace, N.C.; and a brother, Otis C. Wright Jr. of Brooklyn.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home in Clinton.
Carlos E. Torres (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)
HOPE MILLS -- Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Carlos Eliezer Torres, 67, of 4377 Calhoun Drive died Tuesday in his home.
Mr. Torres was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
No services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Adcock Funeral Home of Spring Lake.
Mr. Torres is survived by five daughters, Gladys Pedrojew and Miriam T. McLamb, both of Spring Lake, Rosemery Brigman of Fayetteville, Elizabeth Shore of Vass and Patricia Torres of Erwin; four sons, Carlos E. Torres Jr. of Pompano Beach, Fla., John D. Torres of Sacramento, Calif., Oscar Torres of Tuscon, Ariz., and Phillip Torres of Fayetteville; four brothers, David Torres, Ramon Torres, Moses Torres and Daniel Torres, all of Puerto Rico; and two sisters, Trina Riviera and Antonia Riviera, both of Puerto Rico.

LAUREL HILL -- Marshall Covington, 50, of 9100 Peele’s Chapel Road died Thursday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

Roy J. Hall, 54, of Fayetteville died Tuesday in High Point.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Highland Funeral Service & Crematory by the Rev. Benny Gutierrez. Burial will be in Old Bluff Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Dixie Hall; two daughters, Judy Stamper of Salisbury and Sheila Parker of Lumberton; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Heath and Lois A. Hines, both of LaGrange, and Gail Paderick of Kinston; his mother, Edna Hall of Fayetteville; two brothers, Shelton Hall of Fayetteville and Ricky Hall of Minneapolis; a sister, Geraldine Bryant of Lexington; five grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Victoria McGrew (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)
Mrs. Victoria McGrew, 74, of 810 Executive Place, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in her home.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church by the Rev. Marcia Fuson. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGrew is survived by a daughter, Susan Davis of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Wilbert E. McGrew of Nashville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

CLINTON -- Randolph S. McDoe, 78, of 524 Byron Butler Court died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bearskin Baptist Church by the Rev. John Troy. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. McDoe is survived by his wife, Bonnie McDoe of Clinton; two daughters, Maggie Hooks of Salemburg and Patricia McDoe of Clinton; seven sons, Paul E. McDoe, Paul R. McDoe, Edward McDoe, Johnny McDoe, Ellis McDoe and Haywood McDoe, all of Clinton, and Almond McDoe of Roseboro; two brothers, Calvin McDoe of Clinton and Levander McDoe of Newburgh, N.Y.; 27 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Ruby Bordeaux Melvin, 93, of Lumberton died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Dublin First Baptist Church by the Revs. Elmer Joyner and Warren Hill. Burial will be in Tatum Cemetery in Dublin.
Mrs. Melvin is survived by a son, Judson L. Melvin of Lumberton; a half brother, Wilson Bordeaux of Dublin; three half sisters, Annie Norris of Elizabethtown and Sudie Russ and Hazel Adams, both of Dublin; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ms. Melinda Dale Vann, 34, of 1710 Frankford St., formerly of Clinton, N.C., died Sunday in Howard University Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Union Chapel AME Zion Church in Clinton by the Rev. Corenna Shaw. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Clinton.
Ms. Vann is survived by her parents, Herman and Margaret B. Vann of Washington, D.C.; and three brothers, Grady L. Vann of Washington, D.C., Donald Vann of Bowie, Md., and Bobby Vann of Landover, Md.

GARLAND -- Jeffrey Jones, 30, of 169 Cain Road died Sept. 21.

ST. PAULS -- Aubrey Lee Locklear, 62, of 106 Dowless Road died Tuesday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Nancy Locklear of St. Pauls; three daughters, Janice Hursey of Fairmont, Gloria Dowless of St. Pauls and Anita Brewer of Godwin; a son, Anthony R. Locklear of Fayetteville; four sisters, Annie L. Jones and Edna P. Lowery, both of Pembroke, Retha M. Locklear of Fayetteville and Betty Emanuel of Lumberton; four brothers, Luther Locklear of Fayetteville, Frank Locklear of Pembroke and Lacy Locklear and Zeb Locklear, both of Lumberton; and six grandchildren.

Gibson and Earl Gibson, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., and James E. Gibson of Atlanta; and nine grandchildren.

DUNN -- Jesse Thomas Noble, 74, of 443 Person St. died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Mr. Noble is survived by three nephews and a niece.

Mrs. Cook retired from Ithica Industries in Robbins.

Mrs. Cook is survived by two sons, A. Wade Collins and Billy R. Collins, both of Carthage; three sisters, Lelia Cummings, Fannie Key and Ethel Watkins, all of Carthage; two brothers, Raymond Ring and James Ring, both of Carthage; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
