Mrs. Yvonne Hammond (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Yvonne Hammond, 62, of 3269 Blue Grass Court died Thursday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Arrangements will be announced by Reeves Funeral Home.

Mrs. Belinda K. Witz (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Belinda Kay Witz, 45, of 6125 Lexington Drive died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Witz was an assistant manager at Kindercare. She was also a member of Arran Lake Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted t 3 p.m. Sunday in Arran Lakes Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff Isenhour. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Witz is survived by her husband, Jesse Witz; a daughter, Reshelle Knight of Hope Mills; a son, Jeremy Witz of Hope Mills; her stepmother, Pat Palmer of Fayetteville; four sisters, Karen Stone and Tina McLamb, both of Fayetteville, Mary R. Fisher of Pascagoula, Miss., and Cynthia Thomas of Garner; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Belinda K. Witz Memorial Fund, care of Arran Lakes Baptist Church, 1130 Bingham Drive, Fayetteville, N.C. 28304.

Willie Hayes (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

SANFORD -- Elder Willie Hayes, 87, of 1177 S. Plank Road died Wednesday in Convalescent Center of Lee County.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Carthage by elders Earl Womack and H.V. Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Elder Hayes is survived by his wife, Annie Hayes of Sanford; two daughters, Odessa Roberts of Sanford and Wilma Frye of Columbia, S.C.; a son, Billy McLean of Carthage; a sister, Isabelle Denmark of Sanford; a brother, Charlie Hayes of Sanford; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Horton Funeral Home chapel.

Emory Hammonds Jr. (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Emory “Boots” Hammonds Jr., 79, of 2318 Moores Lane died Friday in Pemberton Place Nursing Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Lisa L. Riley (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

HAVELOCK -- Mrs. Lisa Larayne Riley, 38, of Havelock, formerly of Carthage, died Tuesday in Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Summerhill Baptist Church cemetery in Carthage by the Rev. Melvin Williamson.

Mrs. Riley is survived by her husband, Lee Riley of Melbourne, Fla.; her father, David L. Getsinger of Belton, S.C; six brothers, William D. Tyner of Orlando, Fla., Donald N. Tyner and Robert C. Tyner, both of Carthage, and Cecil “Buck” Tyner, Wayne T. Tyner and Phillip M. Tyner, all of North Wilkesboro; and five sisters, Joyce T. Nelms of Havelock, Alice Coley and Deborah K. Tyner, both of Carthage, and Sherry M. Tyner and Lou A. Omatoe, both of Bakersville, Calif.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines and at other times at the home of Donald Tyner, Cornell Road in Carthage.

Nathaniel Donaldson (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

SANFORD -- Nathaniel Donaldson, 74, of 3094 Khalif Court died Wednesday in Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Watson Mortuary by the Rev. Annie Powell. Burial will be in Cameron Grove Cemetery in Broadway.

Mr. Donaldson is survived by his wife, Muzetta Donaldson of Greensboro; four sons, John Donaldson and Robert Donaldson, both of Greensboro, and George Donaldson and Henry Donaldson, both of Stamford, Conn.; a daughter, Rosetta Donaldson of Greensboro; a sister, Gladys Ray of Lillington; four brothers, Videll Donaldson and Roosevelt Donaldson, both of Broadway, John H. Donaldson of Durham and Bertis Donaldson of Raleigh; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Betty K. Godfrey (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Betty Key Godfrey, 52, of 602 Oak Leaf Road died Friday in Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Sanford Church of God by the Revs. Eugene Payne, Mack Fowler and H.L. Mickle. Burial will be in Grace Chapel cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Mrs. Godfrey is survived by her husband, Jack Godfrey; two sons, Gerald A. Godfrey and Randall D. Godfrey, both of Sanford; two daughters, Jackie G. Craig of Sanford and Sherri D. Godfrey of Olivia; two brothers, Brady Key of Asheboro and Javan Key of Sanford; three sisters, Juanita K. Hall and Barbara J. Woodley, both of Sanford, and Judy K. Kellam of Hampstead; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Sanford Church of God.

Mrs. Angela T. Bolander (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Angela Dawn Thomas Bolander, 23, of 100 Laurel Drive died Wednesday.

Mrs. Bolander was a teacher at Western Harnett Middle School.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in McLean-Bumgardner Funeral Home Twin Oaks chapel in Belmont by the Revs. Paul Rhyne and Dean Brock. Burial will be in Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.

Mrs. Bolander is survived by her husband, Scott Bolander; her parents, Luther N. and Barbara C. Thomas of Belmont; a sister, Marcie D. Thomas of Belmont; her maternal grandmother, Bobbie J. Elmore of Mount Holly; and paternal grandparents, Burgess N. and Bessie F. Thomas of Gastonia.

Everett ‘Hoss’ Scarboro (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

ABERDEEN -- Everett “Hoss” Scarboro, 46, of Aberdeen died Friday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Pines.

Mrs. Annie L. Clark (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Annie Lee Clark, 85, of 105 Highland Road died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by Buie Funeral Home.

Brooks Cates (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

BURLINGTON -- Dr. Brooks Cates of Burlington, formerly of Faison, died Thursday in Alamance Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Elon College Community Church in Elon College. Burial will be in Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Rich & Thompson Funeral Service.

Dr. Cates is survived by his wife, Nicole B. Cates of Burlington; two sons, Ronan Cates of Raleigh and Bernard Cates of Newnan, Ga.; his mother, Mrs. Addis P. Cates of Faison; two brothers, Curtiss Cates of Hope Mills and Tad Cates of Parkton; and four grandchildren.

James Cromartie (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- James Cromartie, 56, of Brooklyn, formerly of Dublin, N.C., died Thursday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Central Funeral Home.

Shady McKeithan (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

LILLINGTON -- Shady McKeithan, 73, of Lillington died Thursday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Mary H. Shells (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Mary Hazel Shells, 67, of 236 Azalea St. died Wednesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. James United Church of God by Pastor Willie M. Graham. Burial will be in Silver Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Buie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shells is survived by three aunts and an uncle.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Viola Wright (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

Mrs. Viola Wright, 67, of Route 5 Box 362-K1, Fayetteville, died Friday in her home.

Lexton O. Stewart (Dated Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998)

CLINTON -- Lexton Oneil Stewart, 60, of 1660 Odom Road died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Stewart was a member of Mount Zion Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Mount Zion Church by the Revs. Horne and Stewart. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Stewart is survived by three brothers, Charles Stewart and Michael Stewart, both of Dunn, and L.C. Stewart of Clinton; and five sisters, Marie S. Hicks of Fayetteville, Jane Skipper of Elizabethtown, Mary Byrd of Clinton, Patty Hobbs of Newton Grove and Sandy Wright of Washington.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sallie B. Denton (Dated Friday, Nov. 20, 1998)

Mrs. Sallie Bruton Denton, 88, of 3301 Kentyre Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Denton was a member of Victory United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Mack McMillan. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Denton is survived by her husband, James Denton of the home; a daughter, Anne D. Lancaster of Fayetteville; two sisters, Lillie Smith of Fayetteville and Lucy Bazzarre of Covington, Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Alice B. Gladney (Dated Friday, Nov. 20, 1998)

CHICAGO -- Mrs. Alice Barrett Gladney, 79, of Chicago, formerly of Cameron, N.C., died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Simon Funeral Home chapel in Southern Pines, N.C., by Dr. Georgia Frye. Burial will be in Taylortown Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Gladney is survived by a sister, Jewel Watkins of Taylortown, N.C.; and two brothers, Alonzo Barrett of Red Oak, Va., and John A. Barrett of Taylortown.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pate W. Daniels (Dated Friday, Nov. 20, 1998)

LAUREL HILL -- Pate Washington, Daniels, 87, of 9680 Old Wire Road died Wednesday in Edwin Morgan Center.

Mr. Daniels was a supervisor at Springs Mill before retiring. He was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Laurel Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Brian Perry. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife, Alma Daniels of the home; a stepson, Jimmy Pipkin of Laurel Hill; two brothers, H.W. “Bud” Daniels of Laurel Hill and Lindsey Daniels of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at McDougald Funeral Home.
