Arrangements will be announced by Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home.

James W. Honan (Dated Sunday, May 10, 1998)

James William Honan, 75, of 671-4 Bartons Landing Place, Fayetteville, died Thursday in his home.

A graveside service memorial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Lafayette Memorial Park by Father Thomas Gaul and the Rev. Carl King. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Mr. Honan is survived by four daughters, Lisa Honan and grandson Jordan Honan, both of the the home, Stephany Loftis of Fayetteville, Michelle Capoccia of Stedman and Saundra Dewberry of Cocoa, Fla.; two sons, James W. Honan II of Fayetteville and Robert B. Honan of Greensboro; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Geneva F. McDowell (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Geneva Freeman McDowell, 87, of 2069 School Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Swan’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Troy L. Bragg. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Mrs. McDowell is survived by a daughter, Vinetta M. McNair of Hope Mills; nine sons, James W. McDowell and Albert L. McDowell, both of Hope Mills, Willie McDowell of Fayetteville, David McDowell of Bronx, N.Y., Bobby McDowell of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Nathaniel McDowell, Daniel McDowell, Charles McDowell and Wayne McDowell, all of the home; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Annie R. Owens (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

Mrs. Annie Richardson Owens, 97, of 6204 Santa Fe Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Roseboro by the Rev. John T. Olive. Burial will be in Smith Chapel AME Zion Church cemetery in Garland.

Mrs. Owens is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the home.

Eugene ‘S.C.’ Batie (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- Eugene Richard “S.C.” Batie, 73, of 418 Ward St. died Saturday in LenCare Nursing Center in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. I.B. Horton. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Memorial Garden in Cerro Gordo. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home.

Mr. Batie is survived by a daughter, Belinda Powell of Whiteville; two sons, Charles Batie of Los Angeles and Gregory O. George of Chadbourn; his mother, Sarah M. Batie of Whiteville; and a sister, Jo Ann Batie of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The public will be received Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

David Haywood (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

FAIR BLUFF -- David Haywood, 87, of Fair Bluff died Monday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Butler Branch Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Haywood is survived by two daughters, Alberta Bullock and Mary L. Gore, both of Fair Bluff; two sons, David Haywood Jr. and Jimmy Haywood, both of Fair Bluff; and a brother, Richard Lee of Conway, S.C.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home in Whiteville.

Mrs. Gertrude C. Maness (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

WINSTON-SALEM -- Mrs. Gertrude Caddell Maness, 73, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Pinehurst, died Monday in Brian Center.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Cross Hill Cemetery in Carthage.

Mrs. Maness is survived by a daughter, Linda Bradham of Winston-Salem; two sons, Alex L. Maness Jr. of Kinston and Ron Maness of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Robert H. Page (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

MARIETTA -- Robert Howard Page, 70, of Marietta died Monday in McLeod Regional Hospital in Florence, S.C.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Page family cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cook Funeral Home of Lake View, S.C.

Mr. Page is survived by a brother, James T. Page of Rockford, Ill.; and two sisters, Cora P. Grasser of Marietta and Jewell Reid of Levettown, Pa.

Eddie L. Phillips Jr. (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Eddie Lee Phillips Jr., 32, of Kinston Street died Sunday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in Goodwin Chapel AME Church by the Rev. Shelly Libby. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his mother, Louise G. Phillips of Laurinburg; his father, Johnny L. Ingram of Laurel Hill; six sisters, Debra L. Phillips and Marlyin M. Griffin, both of Laurinburg, Betty A. Ingram, Arlene Douglas and Carol L. Ingram, all of Gibson, and Mary A. Ingram of Laurel Hill; and four brothers, Odell Phillips and Willie L. Phillips, both of Laurinburg, John W. Ingram of Gibson and David Ingram of Laurel Hill.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Jackson Funeral Home.

Henry M. Britt (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

ORRUM -- Henry Marvin Britt, 87, of Route 1 died Tuesday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory of Lumberton.

Mrs. Iola Flowers (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Iola Flowers, 67, of 414 Lincoln St. died Saturday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Jones Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. T.R. Davis. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Flowers is survived by four sons, John Flowers Jr., Donald Flowers and Anthony Flowers, all of Laurinburg, and Michael Flowers of Southern Pines; seven daughters, Edna Lewis of Richmond, Va., Martha Johnson, Joyce Campbell, Brenda Richardson and Jackie Flowers, all of Laurinburg, Rosalyn Armstrong of Columbus, Ga., and Geraldine Armstrong of Laurel Hill; a sister, Atlene Harrington of Laurinburg; a brother, June Hoskins of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home.

Robert M. Stevenson Sr. (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Robert M. Stevenson Sr. of North Chestnut Street died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Stevenson was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Phoenix Lodge 8 and the Scottish Rite of Fayetteville. He was a retired FBI agent.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Meadowbrook Cemetery by the Rev. Samuel P. Warner. Arrangements are being handled by Biggs Funeral Home.

Mr. Stevenson is survived by his wife, Bessie S. Stevenson of the home; and two brothers, William H. Stevenson Jr. of Sumter, S.C., and John A. Stevenson of New Orleans.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the home.

Memorials may be to a favorite charity.

Melvin C. Walker (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

LINDEN -- Elder Melvin Curtis Walker, 62, of Route 2, Box 385, died Sunday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Cape Fear Conference ‘A’ Headquarters Facility in Erwin by the Rev. Troy Williams. Burial will be in St. Timothy Church cemetery in Bunnlevel. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Cora C. Walker; two daughters, Tonya Walker of the home and Teresa W. Williams of Fayetteville; four sisters, Regina Primore of Virginia Beach, Va., Lula Morton of Virginia, Portia Dillard of Bluefield, W.Va., and Sandra Signal of Florida; four brothers, William P. Walker, William M. Walker, Sherman Walker and Marvin Walker, all of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Curtis L. Blaylock (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Curtis Lee Blaylock, 59, of 768 Joefield Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

Arrangements will be announced by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.

Robert L. Houseworth (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Robert Louelle Houseworth, 80, of 6607 Cushing Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lafayette Memorial Park by Chaplain Oh.

Mr. Houseworth is survived by his wife, Theresia F. Houseworth of the home; two daughters, Evelyn Thomas of Covington, Ga., and Mona-Lisa Smith of Gresham, Ore.; two sons, Robert Houseworth Jr. of Covington and George Houseworth of Fayetteville; a half sister, Barbara Hurndon of Conyers, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Cumberland County SPCA.

Earle B. Horton (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

SANFORD -- Earle Bruce Horton of 510 Ramsuer St. died Sunday in Central Carolina Hospital.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Far Promise AME Zion Church by the Revs. Martin S. Kendrick and Reginald Swann. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Arrangements are being handled by Kendrick Funeral Home of Southern Pines.

Mr. Horton is survived by a son, Earle B. Horton Jr. of Staten Island, N.Y.; and two sisters, Ruth H. Kenrick of Southern Pines and Essie H. Whitfield of Sanford.

Jack Lovick (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Jack Lovick, 77, of 7542 Cliffbourne Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rogers & Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Ronnie Reynolds. Burial with full military honors will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lovick is survived by his wife, Betty S. Lovick of the home; two sons, David C. Thomas of Blowing Rock and Phillip W. Thomas of Fayetteville; a sister, Eunice L. Greene of Angier; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bonnie Doone Baptist Church, 5200 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville, N.C. 28303.

Mrs. Beulah L. Clifton (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)

BENSON -- Mrs. Beulah Love Clifton, 88, of 8739 N.C. 50 North died Tuesday in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

She was a homemaker and a member of Johnson Memorial Church in Angier.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Johnson Memorial Church by the Revs. Murray King and R.B. Parrish. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Clifton is survived by her husband, J.O. Clifton Sr.; two daughters, Edith C. Ogburn of Willow Spring and Kay C. Byrd of Raleigh; a son, Don Clifton of Angier; four sisters, Louise L. Clifton of Benson, Velma L. Morgan of Raleigh, Caroline L. Spence of Tampa, Fla., and Rose L. Barnes of Jonesville; two brothers, Ervin Love of Angier and Thurman Love of Butner; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.
