Mrs. Elaine N. Stubbs

BRACEY, Va. -- Mrs. Elaine Newton Stubbs, 65, of 101 Brady Court, formerly of Laurinburg, N.C., died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, N.C.
Mrs. Stubbs was a retired social worker and nursing home director.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel in Laurinburg. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery in Bennettsville, S.C.
Mrs. Stubbs is survived by a son, Jesse Stubbs Jr. of Jackson Springs, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah LaFerney of St. Pauls, N.C., and Lisa Lewis of Raeford, N.C.; two sisters, Margaret Gibson of Gibson, N.C., and Irene Atkinson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and five grandchildren.
Joseph P. Morris

LAKE WACCAMAW -- Retired Army Lt. Col. Joseph Paul Morris, 68, of 2204 Canal Cove Road died Wednesday in his home.
Mr. Morris was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a regional sales manager for Brownell Electro for more than 15 years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sandhill State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Arrangements are being handled by McKenzie Mortuary.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Gladys S. Morris of Lake Waccamaw; a daughter, Marjorie J. Morris of Sanford; a son, Michael J. Morris of Miami; a stepdaughter, Robin P. Cannady of Whiteville; a sister, Helen Vazrick of Charlotte, Vt.; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the home.

Robert L. Orem Sr.

PARKTON -- Robert Lee Orem Sr., 68, of 334 Davis Bridge Road died Tuesday in his home.
Mr. Orem was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Crumpler Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Frank Garrison. Burial will be in Sandy Grove United Methodist Church cemetery.
Mr. Orem is survived by a son, Charles M. ‘‘Mike’’ Orem of Raeford; a daughter, Teresa O. Chason of Parkton; his father, Charles E. Orem of Hutchinson, Kan.; a brother, Dean Orem of Buhler, Kan.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Franklin W. Campbell

PINEHURST -- Franklin Wilber Campbell, 89, of 423 Love 15 Drive died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Mr. Campbell was an electrical engineer before retiring.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Powell Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Doris A. Campbell; a son, Bruce Campbell of Mystic, Conn.; two daughters, Heather Wheeler of Washington, D.C., and Robin Campbell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.

Mr. Connor was a retired pipe insulation installer.

Mr. Connor is survived by his wife, Martha F. Connor of the home; a son, Dwayne Connor of the home; a daughter, Connie R. Freeman of Lumberton; two brothers, Ralph Connor and Buddy Connor, both of Orrum; two sisters, Rose Williams and Bonnie Messer, both of Holden Beach; and a granddaughter.

BLADENBORO -- Ms. Beatrice Ellis, 74, of 3601 Old N.C. 41 died Monday in Bladen County Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in McKoy’s Chapel First Born Holiness Church by elder Ned Graham. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery.
Ms. Ellis is survived by a daughter, Wanda A. Miller of Baldenboro; two brothers, Calvin Ellis of Hackensack, N.J., and Clifton Ellis of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Maggie Thompson of Bladenboro and Louvenia McKeithan of Hackensack; and a granddaughter.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at F.W. Newton & Sons Mortuary in Elizabethtown.

ANGIER -- Mrs. Delia A. Stubbs-Lassiter, 72, of 103 Crepe Myrtle Court died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Dafford Memorial Chapel by the elder Thomas Washington. Burial will be in Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Stubbs-Lassiter is survived by her husband, Benjamin Lassiter of Angier.

Mrs. Goins was a member of Harrington Freewill Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Harrington Chapel Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe L. Johnson Jr. Entombment will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
