Sylvia Elder Bohrer
Sylvia Elder Bohrer, 84, of Pfafftown and formerly of Statesville died July 7 at Vienna Village Retirement Community. She was born February 7, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Samuel Harrison Elder and Hazel Leap Elder. On October 18, 1941, she married Charles Ellsworth Bohrer of Camden, N.J. In 1958 the family relocated to Statesville, where she resided until 2000, at which time she and Charles moved to Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Wendell.
Surviving are her sister, Frances Elder Schultz; her son, Charles H. Bohrer and wife Connie; her daughter, Marilyn B. Gregory and husband Tom; and her four grandchildren, Kimberly Gregory Snow, Brian Elliot Bohrer, Thomas Warren Gregory Jr. and Jennifer Anne Bohrer.
A memorial service was held at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Statesville.

Jackie Gray Matthews
Jackie Gray Matthews, 73, of Pfafftown died July 13 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Winston-Salem on February 15, 1931, to Goldie and Lee Matthews of Winston-Salem. He was an active member of Elm Grove United Methodist Church in Pfafftown. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1986 after 35 years of devoted service. He enjoyed volunteering for SALT for the Forsyth County Courts through the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Lee Matthews.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Johnnie Petree Matthews; two daughters, Gina Byerly and husband David of Pfafftown and Tanya Hendrix and husband James of Advance; five grandchildren, Bryan Byerly and wife Artemis of Fayetteville, Megan Hendrix, Stacy Hendrix and Shelby Hendrix of Advance; a brother, Connie Matthews and wife Judy of Tobaccoville; a sister-in-law, Peggy Matthews of Pfafftown; several loving nieces and nephews; and a host of family members and friends.
A graveside service was held at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Dwight Cartner and Rev. Dick Patzfahl officiating.

Morris Grier Morrow
Morris Grier Morrow, 59, of Madison, Va. died July 2. He was employed by AirTrek, an ambulance company in Winchester, and died as a result of an aviation accident in Panama City, Panama. He was born March 26, 1945, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Carl Alexander Morrow and Sara Sloop Morrow. He was an accomplished pilot, having five type ratings including Flight Engineer and Airline Transport Pilot ratings. He had acquired more than 10,000 hours of flight time in his 36-year career. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Rhonda Kaye Morrow and Anna Davis Morrow.
Surviving are two sons, Keith Alan Morrow of Kernersville and Zachary Alexander Morrow of Lewisville; and a stepson, John Clinton Miller and wife Jackie Wendling Miller of Advance.
Funeral services were held at Triplett United Methodist Church in Mooresville.

Darryl Scott Sechler
Darryl Scott Sechler, 44, of Clemmons died July 16 at Forsyth Medical Center. His death was unexpected following a long illness. He loved music and lived life to the fullest.
Surviving are his mother, Barbara McDonough of Clemmons; a brother, Tony Sechler of Salisbury; two sisters, Sandy Scott and Shelly McDonough, both of Yadkinville; and his fiancee, April Tharington.
A memorial service was held at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Jeffrey Gwynn Myers
Jeffrey Gwynn Myers, 46, of Clemmons died October 30. He was born April 6, 1958, in Forsyth County to Herbert G. Myers Sr. and Betty McMillian Myers. He attended Harmony Grove United Methodist Church and was the owner and operator of The Speed Limit Convenience Store. He loved the great outdoors and kayaking, and was also a very talented artist.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Foster Myers; a son, Michael Jonathan Myers of Winston-Salem; both his parents; a sister, Dianne Matthews and husband Larry of East Bend; two brothers, Herb Myers Jr. and wife Donna of Lewisville and Marty Myers and wife Donna of East Bend; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Funeral services were held at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. David G. Lookadoo officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ruel Lawrence Schroer
Ruel Lawrence Schroer, 77, of Clemmons died October 29 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born December 20, 1926, to Lawrence Rodell and Ruth Hemphill Schroer in Center Point, IN. He served in the U.S. Army in 1945. On October 3, 1948, he married Delores Maxine Spangler, daughter of Walter and Dona Spangler of Poland, IN. He enjoyed woodworking, participating in craft shows, reading and spending time with his family. He retired from Tell City Chair Co. in Tell City, Ind. He was a member of Hebron United Church of Christ in Midway. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, James August and Robert Keith Schroer.
Surviving are his wife, Delores; four children, Myra Kievit, Ruella Davis and husband Ron, Jim Schroer and wife Angel, and SFC Stewart Schroer and wife Joanna; six grandchildren, Michaelene Bouterie and husband Jim, Andrew Schroer, Cory Schroer, Rani Eve Davis, Jonathan Schroer and Jessica Schroer; his sister, Jean Malone and husband Ray of Dayton, Ohio; an aunt, Mazo Rollings of Mooresville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at French Funeral Home in Brazil, IN with Rev. Adin Rodgers officiating. Burial followed at the Poland Chapel Cemetery. A memorial service was held at Hebron United Church of Christ in Midway.

Margaret Brandon S. Draughn
Margaret Brandon S. Draughn, 73, of Yadkinville died November 5 at her home after an extended illness. She was born August 19, 1931, in Yadkin County to the late Fred and Mae Brandon Sheek. She was retired with 30 years of service in education, having taught in North Carolina and Florida. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church and was an avid reader and bridge player.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Allen Odell Draughn of the home; two daughters, Jenny Lynn and husband Keith Schomburg of Apex and Julie Ann and husband Richard Jennings of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Meredith Schomburg, Noah Schomburg, Kayla Jennings and Katherine Jennings; and two sisters, Sue Sheek Taylor of Lewisville and Linda Sheek Harrell of Yadkinville.
Funeral services were held at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. Vann Harrell and Rev. Oliver Helsabeck officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Rev. Dr. Robert Sidney Jeffords Sr.
Rev. Dr. Robert Sidney “Bob” Jeffords Sr., 69, of Winston-Salem died November 2 at Duke Health Raleigh Hospital. He was born July 3, 1935, in Forsyth County to Boyd Lee Vaughn Jeffords Sr. and Bertha Leona Arnold Jeffords. He served in the U.S. Army and was an agent with Jeffords Insurance Agency for many years. An active member of the Rotary Club of Clemmons, he had served as executive secretary and was a Paul Harris fellow. He attended the River Oaks Community Church. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyd Lee Vaughn Jeffords Jr., Jack E. Jeffords and Charles R. Jeffords.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Spell Jeffords; two sons, Robert Sidney “Jeff” Jeffords Jr. and wife Jennifer of Charlotte and Christopher S. Jeffords and wife Stephanie of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Richard A. Jeffords and wife Anne of Lewisville and J. Cecil Jeffords and wife Peggy of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Alice J. Morton of Holland, MI, and Christine J. Conrad and husband Richard of Winston-Salem; and two grandchildren, Angela Grace Jeffords of Charlotte and Holden Michael Jeffords of Winston-Salem.
A memorial service was held at Reynolda Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Beaty officiating.

Don Ruben Pope
Don Ruben Pope, 68, of Advance died November 5 at his home. He was born August 19, 1936, in Forsyth County to Lonnie Eugene and Margaret Ebert Pope. He was in the jewelry business for 50 years and was the owner of Don’s Fine Jewelry in Clemmons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Flavia Tribolet.
Surviving are a son, Christian Pope and wife Nancy of Advance; Marea Sanos and family; two daughters, Paula O’Flaherty and husband Jeff and Donna Pope; two brothers, Richard Pope and wife Carolyn and George Pope and wife Libby; three sisters, Margie Grimsley and husband Edwin, Sylvia McClure and Joan York and husband Horace; two grandchildren, William and Mary Kay; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service was held at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Gary Blalock Jr. officiating.

Coy Ray Walker
Coy Ray “Little Boy” Walker, 64, of Winston-Salem died November 6 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1940, in Forsyth County to the late Walter William Walker Sr. and Viola Warren Walker. He was a beekeeper and an avid NASCAR fan. He attended Victory Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Walker of the home; a son, Billy Walker and wife Tracie of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Pamela Walker and husband Mike of Winston-Salem and Jennifer Hauser and husband Brian of Clemmons; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Southern of Dobson, Walter William Walker Jr. and wife Barbara of Wallburg and a twin brother, Troy Walker and wife Becky of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Brenda Venable and husband Roger of Kernersville and Patricia Walker of Kernersville; and surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Daniel Hauser officiating. Burial followed at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Elaine Roseanna Hunt
Elaine Roseanna Hunt, 76, of Clemmons died November 1 at her home. She was born August 11, 1928, to Beatrice and Reinhold Mattson in West Bridgewater, MA. She was a registered nurse at Brockton Hospital for 20 years. On July 10, 1965, she married Henry Hunt. She enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles, her cats and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Henry; three children, Cliff Hunt and wife Kitty of Winston-Salem, Reinhold Hunt and wife Amy of Plano, Texas, and Polly Swope and husband Matt of Winston-Salem; a brother, Raymond Mattson and wife Mollie of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Katherine Hunt, Justice Hunt, Katelyn Swope and Taylor Swope; and many great friends.
A memorial service was held at Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel with Rev. Arnett Harris officiating.

Lara Kirsten Shannonhouse Fix
Lara Kirsten Shannonhouse Fix, 28, of East Bend died November 3. She was born October 28, 1976, in Guilford County to Harry and Pamela Deal Shannonhouse. She was a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a bachelor of science degree in biology and psychology. She also graduated from Winston-Salem State University, where she received her nursing degree. She was a registered nurse at Forsyth Medical Center.
Surviving are her husband, Brian Fix of the home; her parents of Kernersville; her sister, Erica Fox and husband Jason of Winston-Salem; her maternal grandmother, Evelyn Ingram of Durham; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Sherry Fix of East Bend; her brother-in-law, Christopher Fix of Boston, MA; and her grandfather-in-law, Thomas Fix of Lewisville.
Funeral services were held at Lewisville Baptist Church, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ethel Venora Warner
Ethel Venora Warner, 94, of Pfafftown died November 7 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Forsyth County August 9, 1910, to Sarah Masencup and Sidney Warner. She was a member of Bethania Moravian Church and was retired from Hanes Knitting Mill. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; six brothers; a nephew, Crescent Eugene; and a very special niece, Norma Leigh Shouse.
Surviving are two nieces, Jane Hill of Murrels Inlet, SC and Joan Fulk of Clemmons; and three nephews, Jack Warner of Mocksville, Rev. John Lewis Warner of Reidsville and Lewis Warner of Pfafftown.
A graveside service was held at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. John Lewis Warner and Rev. Wayne Byerly officiating.

Paul William Harrison
Paul William Harrison, 89, of Davie County died November 5 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was most recently living at South Fork Assisted Living on Jonestown Road in Winston-Salem. He was born April 30, 1915, in Surry County to Oscar Harrison and Lucinda Flinchum Harrison. He was of the Christian faith. He was employed by Hanes Corp. for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Leona Gardner Harrison; his brother and sister-in-law, Howard Harrison and Stella Hutchins; and stepbrothers Ed Wooten, J.E. Wooten, Kenneth Wooten and Elmer Wooten.
Surviving are a daughter, Paulette Caudle and husband Jay of Clemmons; sons Richard Harrison and wife Marie of Snellville, Ga., and Robert Harrison of Galax, Va.; and grandchildren Karen Asbury of Clemmons, Leslie Cook of Matthews, Cary Harrison of Sugar Hill, Ga., Lt. Col. Jeffery Harrison of Wertsbery, Germany, Julie Bryson of Dacula, Ga., Paula Harrison and April Harrison of Advance; and great-grandchildren Kyle Asbury, Allison Asbury, Cy Cook, Molly Cook, Amelia Harrison and Joseph Harrison.
Funeral services were held at Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel with Rev. Randy Hillman, Chaplain at Forsyth Medical Center, and Bob Jennings of Fries, VA officiating. Burial followed at Westlawn Gardens in Clemmons.

William Hunt Atkins
William “Bill” Hunt Atkins 80, of Troy died October 30 at the Autumn Care of Biscoe Nursing Home. He was born January 29, 1924, to the late John Dillard Atkins and Ruth Hunt Atkins. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Troy and previously was a longtime member of the Parkway United Church of Christ in Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Atkins; and two sisters, Carrie Andes and Evelyn Arace.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel, also at Autumn Care of Biscoe; a son, Jim Atkins of Pfafftown; a daughter, Glenda Douglas of Clemmons; and a grandchild, Serena Reavis of Greensboro.
Funeral services were held at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Troy with Rev. Doug Martin officiating. Burial followrf in the Fairview Cemetery in Albemarle.

Ruth McElwee Corbin
Ruth McElwee Corbin, 87, of Clemmons died November 5 at Carolina Medical Center in Pineville. She was born December 8, 1916, in Detroit, MI, to Mabel Joslin and Richard McElwee. Married on February 15, 1936, she and her husband, Doyle, opened Corbin’s Photography Studio in Whitesville, WV, in 1948 and sold it in 1961. She then worked for American Enka Corp. in Enka until her retirement in 1974. She moved to Clemmons in 1987. She was a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church since 1988 and was a lifetime member of Presbyterian Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Doyle Corbin; and twin brothers Ronald and Donald Erwin.
Surviving are a son, John Corbin and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Sarah Grace, Jonston Marie and Joseph Moss Corbin; sisters Lou Fischer and husband Don of Michigan, Carol Beth Sawyer of Florida and Margorie Linebaugh and husband Bill of Michigan; and brother Richard McElwee and wife Jeanne of Michigan.
Funeral services were held at Clemmons Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Hoyle officiating. Burial followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.

Joshua Lee Cox
Joshua Lee Cox, 16 days old, was born October 20 to his parents, Candice A. Price and Nicholas Lee Cox, of Winston-Salem. He died November 5. He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandmother, Edna Hall, in 2001.
Surviving are his parents; his maternal grandparents, Angela and Ray Proctor Jr. of Lewisville; his maternal grandfather, Ricky Price of Kernersville; his paternal grandparents, Rick and Theresa Cox of Kernersville; his maternal great-grandmother, June Hunt of Winston-Salem; his aunt, Madelaye Proctor of Lewisville; his uncles, Alex Proctor and Nicholas Proctor of Lewisville and Ricky Price II, Ryan Price and Chris Cox and wife Lisa of Kernersville; his godmother, Shey Surratt of Winston-Salem; and numerous relatives.
A graveside service was held in the Hall Family Cemetery in Lansing with Pastor Joel Boyles officiating.

Barbara Allene Robinson
Barbara Allene Robinson, 66, of Clemmons died December 11 after a long battle with illness. She was the daughter of Jacob and Valaree Darby Hudson of Gaston County. She fiercely valued learning, conquering her fear of swimming and attending Salem College as an adult. She was a secretary for Allstate Insurance Co. and for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Winston-Salem. She lifted up her voice for others as a writer of inspirational and children’s stories and as a member of the Clemmons Moravian Church choir and prayer committee for as long as her health permitted.
Surviving are her husband, W. Roy Robinson Jr. of the home; her children, Tripp and Becky Robinson of Huntersville and Susan Allene Robinson of Clemmons; and her sisters, Joyce Summer of Cherryville and Marcia Massey of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Funeral services were held at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Ray Burke officiating, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Patsy Ruth Myers
Patsy Ruth Myers, 65, of Rural Hall died unexpectedly December 16 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on September 28, 1939, to the late Clarence Preston and Mary Ruth Allman Myers. She was a member of Light House Baptist Church in Rural Hall.
Surviving are a special friend, Kenneth W. Moser; a daughter, Melinda Burton of Lewisville; a son, Douglas Miles and wife Angela of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Adam Lee Locklear, Nichole Lynn Miles and Allen Preston Miles; a great-grandson, Austin Lee Locklear; four brothers, Bill Myers and wife Lib of Clemmons, Bobby Myers and wife Yvonne of Rural Hall, Kenneth Myers and wife Shirley Ann and Carl Myers and wife Sandra.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Hall Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Richard Lenderman and Rev. Randy Wall officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
