RALEIGH -- Mrs. Carolyn Barrington Grubbs, 60, of Raleigh died Tuesday.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements are being handled by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.
Among Mrs. Grubbs’ survivors are her mother, Patricia P. Barrington of Fayetteville; and two brothers, Carl A. Barrington Jr. and Christopher Barrington, both of Fayetteville.
Edgar L. Strickland

LAKE WACCAMAW -- Edgar Lee Strickland, 35, of Lake Waccamaw died Monday.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in St. James Baptist Church by the Revs. Ronald Campbell and Arthur Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Worthington Funeral Home.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his mother, Juanita W. Jacobs of Lake Waccamaw; a brother, Sgt. Mason A. Newton of Fort Stewart, Ga.; a sister, Diane Stewart of Chadbourn; three half brothers, Jimmy Locklear of Lumberton, James Strickland of Baltimore and James Locklear of Fayetteville; and three half sisters, Jennifer Barton of Lumberton, Pat Morga of Fallston, Md., and Nisha Strickland of Pembroke.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the home of Juanita Jacobs, 2443 Polosin Road, Lake Waccamaw.
Waymon Gilchrist

LUMBERTON -- Waymon Gilchrist, 92, of 374 Skipper Road died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Gilchrist was a member of Floyd’s Temple No. 1.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Floyd’s Temple No. 1 by elder J.W. Brooks. Burial will be in Elizabeth Heights Cemetery.
Mr. Gilchrist is survived by his wife, Lugenia W. Gilchrist of the home; a son, Waymon Gilchrist Jr. of St. Pauls; three daughters, Lizzie Gilchrist of Miami, Lena Humphrey of Washington, D.C., and Betty G. Gilchrist of Tar Heel; four stepchildren, Glen Coleman and Jackie Coleman, both of Lumberton, and Virginia White and George Washington, both of High Point; Henry Coleman of New York; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The public will be received Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mary R. Gwynne

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Mary Lee Roper Gwynne, 85, of Lillington died Monday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
Mrs. Gwynne was an author and a playwright. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home by the Rev. William Goodnight. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Centre Presbyterian Church cemetery in Maxton.
Mrs. Gwynne is survived by a son, Matt Gwynne of Angier; a daughter, Olivia G. Fowler of Liberty, S.C.; a brother, Thomas R. Roper of Hickory; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the home of Matt Gwynne.

Ms. Helen W. Forlini

OVIEDO, Fla. -- Ms. Helen Waddell Forlini, 78, of Oviedo, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died April 5.
Ms. Forlini was a supply clerk at Fort Bragg, N.C., before retiring.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville by the Rev. Bobby Tyson. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
Ms. Forlini is survived by a daughter, Cecelia W. Switzer of Oviedo; and a sister, Ruth Blanton of Spartanburg, S.C.
The family requests that no flowers be sent.

Mr. Bryant is survived by three nieces and two nephews.

Mr. Martin was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

Ms. Lewis is survived by two sons, George T. Lewis of Elizabethtown and Lester Lewis of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Roger Lesane of Elizabethtown; three sisters, Mamie Louder, Mattie Lesane and Emma Lofton, all of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
