Mrs. Myrtle Maultsby, 85, of 3721 Sandra Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Maultsby was a member of Person Street United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Wilson Strickhausen and Steve Enloe. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 3.

Mrs. Maultsby is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth ‘‘Essie’’ Jones of Fayetteville; a son, James A. Maultsby Jr. of Seattle; a sister, Reba Johnson of Fayetteville; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Ada Oxendine

ROWLAND -- Ms. Ada Oxendine, 79, of 3262 Elrod Road died Tuesday in her home.

BLADENBORO -- Mrs. Charlie Jane Wright, 88, of 468 Wright Road died Tuesday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Ms. Bella Goode, 80, of 594 Murray Hill Road died Tuesday in Pinehurst Nursing Center.

William J. Maynard

SANFORD -- William J. Maynard, 74, of Sanford died Monday in Convalescent Care of Sanford.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Spring Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bobby Tyson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home of Lillington.

Mr. Maynard is survived by his wife, Annie S. Maynard of Sanford; a brother, Ronald Maynard of New York; and a sister, Ruthie Salisbury of New York.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Spring Hill United Methodist Church, Spring Hill Church Road, Lillington, N.C. 27546.

Harry Locklear

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- Harry Locklear, 50, of 4330 Commodore Road, formerly of Pembroke, N.C., died Saturday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Mount Airy Baptist Church by the Revs. Charles W. Maynor and Larry Lowry. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Locklear & Son Funeral Home of Pembroke.

Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Deborah Locklear of the home; a son, Josh McGuire of the home; a daughter, Ashley A. Locklear of the home; his mother, Vernie L. Locklear of Pembroke; a brother, Charles L. Locklear Jr. of Parkton, N.C.; three sisters, Carolyn R. Jacobs and Eleate Dial, both of Pembroke, and Hallie W. Cummings of Kathleen; two half brothers, Luke Locklear and Alan Locklear, both of Rowland, N.C.; and three half sisters, Darlene Chavis of Shannon, N.C., Charlene Mitchell of Lake Waccamaw, N.C., and Connie Locklear of Rowland.

Oscar D. Jacobs

CLINTON -- Oscar Delton Jacobs, 79, of U.S. 421 North died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Jacobs was member of Cohaire United Methodist Church. He was a carpenter and craftsman before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Royal-Hall Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Richard Stanley Jr., Simeon Cummings and Sid Collins. Burial will be in Cohaire United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife, Earletha C. Jacobs; four daughters, Betty Hewett and Gracie Sinclair, both of Clinton, Lucille Locklear of Pembroke and Carolyn Brinkley of Roseboro; two sons, Paul Jacobs and Willard Jacobs, both of Clinton; five sisters, Callie Locklear, Carlee Jones and Phoda Godwin, all of Pembroke, and Parree Patrick of Bolton and Mary Bell of Clinton; a brother, John W. Jacobs Jr. of Pembroke; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cohaire United Methodist Church, 800 Smith St., Clinton, N.C. 28328.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Coats Church of God of Prophecy by the Rev. Frank Taylor. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mr. Staton is survived by Cathie York of the home; four sons, Danny York and Stanley York, both of the home, and Stanley Staton and Anthony Staton, both of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Latonya York of the home and Joyce Staton of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Hattie Degraffenried of Bronx, N.Y., and Betty Gilfillian of Laurinburg; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the church.

Ms. Elliott is survived by two daughters, Brenda C. Roper and Lisa A. Roper, both of Raleigh; her mother, Iva W. Stone of Coats; and a sister, Wanda S. Moody of Houston.

LUMBERTON -- Elroy ‘‘Brownie’’ Brown, 76, of 56 Patterson Road died Tuesday in his home.

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. -- James Thomas ‘‘J.T.’’ Nance, 76, of West Babylon, formerly of Chadbourn, N.C., died Monday.

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Virginia Matthews, 75, of Lillington died Monday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in Anitoch Baptist Church by the Rev. Martin Groover. Burial will be in Harnett Memorial Park.

Mrs. Matthews is survived by two sons, Don Matthews and Larry Matthews, both of Lillington; a daughter, Rita M. Byrd of Lillington; two brothers, Grady Griffin of Broadway and John R. Griffin of Sanford; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Imogen Turbeville

PROCTORVILLE -- Mrs. Imogen McCormick Turbeville, 72, of 2470 Fire Tower Road died Tuesday in Sunrise Rest Home in Elizabethtown.

Mrs. Turbeville was a member of Proctorville Baptist Church. She was homemaker.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Proctorville Cemetery by the Rev. Tim Sellers.

Mrs. Turbeville is survived by a son, Stan Turbeville of High Point.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont and after the service at the cemetery.

Mr. West was a former teacher and coach at East Bladen High School. He owned Lacy West-Thomas Insurance Agency in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elizabethtown Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bob Bergland. Burial will be in Old Trinity United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. West is survived by his wife, Jane R. West of White Lake; two daughters, Karen W. Suggs and Rhonda J. West, both of White Lake; a son, Alan T. West of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Nancy Rossiter of Chesapeake, Va., and Pat Powers of Asheboro; a brother, William R. West of Asheboro; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Bladen County Hospital Foundation.
