BLADENBORO -- Ms. Eva Taylor Brisson, 85, of 1347 Marsh Road died Monday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bethlehem Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Paul V. Hewitt and Dr. Mack Roberts. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
Ms. Brisson is survived by a daughter, Wanda Scott of Clayton; three sons, Chappelle Brisson, Cedric Brisson and Cornelius Brisson, all of Bladenboro; three sisters, Eloise Freeman of Lumberton, Letha Freeman of Fairmont and Ida R. Hall of Bladenboro; two brothers, Wallace Taylor and Harold Taylor, both of Bladenboro; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

Ms. Debra D. Smith (Dated Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999)
CLINTON -- Ms. Debra Lynn Davis Smith, 39, of 1376 Moseley Ave. died Monday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Ms. Smith was a member of Colonial Heights Free Will Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Colonial Heights Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Charles R. Jernigan and Dennis Sheppard. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.
Ms. Smith is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Dawn and Dana M. Smith, both of Clinton; her parents, James R. and Josephine T. Davis of Clinton; and two brothers, James R. Davis Jr. of Clinton and Thomas L. Davis of Spring Lake.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.
Robert Ridgill (Dated Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999)
LAURINBURG -- Robert Ridgill, 65, of 312 Bizzell St. died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Ridgill was a teacher at Richmond Community College, I. Ellis Johnson School and Terry Sanford High School.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Galilee United Methodist Church by the Rev. Doris Fox. Burial with military honors will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Ridgill is survived by his wife, Ethel H. Ridgill of the home; a son, Robert H. Ridgill of the home; three sisters, Mae B. Eccles of Winston-Salem, Fannie R. Johnson of Newport News, Va., and Verdia G. Tindal of Santa Clarita, Calif.; and five brothers, Oliver Ridgill of Ashbury Park, N.J., and Nelson Ridgill, Lon E. Ridgill, Thomas Ridgill Jr. and Charles E. Ridgill, all of Manning, S.C.

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Viola Williams McLean, 75, of 415 Madera Ave. died Monday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Annie R. McLaurin (Dated Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999)
MAXTON -- Ms. Annie Ruth McLaurin, 50, of 5086 N.C. 83 South died Thursday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Piney Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Fairley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Jackson Funeral Home.
Ms. McLaurin is survived by a son, John A. McLaurin of Maxton; a daughter, Tina J. McLaurin of Maxton; her mother, Lisa Patterson of Maxton; several brothers; and several sisters.

SHANNON -- Mitchell Locklear, 40, of 212 New Lane Road died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crumpler Funeral Home in Red Springs by the Rev. Montana Locklear. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery.
Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Diane Locklear of Shannon; a son, George McElwee of Shannon; two stepsons, Stanley Augustin Jr. of Fayetteville and Jason Augustin of Chapin, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Kitchens of South Congaree, S.C.; his mother, Ruthie Locklear of Pembroke; four brothers, Almond Locklear of Raeford and U.T. Locklear, Jimmy Locklear and Holise Locklear, all of Maxton; three sisters, Faye Eason of Parkton, Carolyn Cummings of Raeford and Audrey Keaffer of Maxton; and four grandchildren.

Deacon James Henry Thomas, 59, of 523 Bethune Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Cape Fear Conference Headquarters Building in Erwin by elder Abe Elliott Jr. Entombment will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Vernell Thomas of the home; five daughters, Evelyn Blue, Angela Crosby, Amy McClough, Deborah Evans and Stephanie Carter; a son, James L. Thomas; four brothers, Lorenzo Thomas, Odell Thomas, Joseph Thomas and Earl Thomas; five sisters, Margaret Campell, Betty Johnson, Karen Murrian, Hazel Burgos and Delores McLaughlin; and 13 grandchildren.

DUNN -- Mrs. Elsie Gilbert Blackmon, 62, of 611 S. Powell Ave. died Monday in her home.
Mrs. Blackmon was a member of Union Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home chapel by Dr. Earl J. Hole. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.
Mrs. Blackmon is survived by two sons, Kim J. Blackmon of Erwin and Travis Blackmon of Plain View; a daughter, Carol B. Wallace of Wade; and 12 grandchildren.

Mrs. Joan B. Baker (Dated Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999)
MAXTON -- Mrs. Joan Patricia Brooks Baker, 65, of 206 Anastasia Road died Tuesday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Mrs. Baker was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Baker’s Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Baker family cemetery.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Archie C. Baker of the home; three sons, Archie C. Baker Jr. of the home, Michael S. Baker of Greenville and James C. Baker of Hope Mills; four daughters, Terry Langley and Debra B. Beasley, both of Maxton, Joan M. Baker of Kinston and Jacquelyn B. Grizzel of Raleigh; her mother, Sally J. Brooks; two brothers, Sherman Brooks of Rowland and Anthony Brooks of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Cynthia Brooks of Pembroke; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
