CLINTON -- Matt Laughvon Grantham, 61, of 105 Whispering Pines Drive died Saturday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Clinton Baptist Church by the Rev. James Andrews. Burial will be in Calvary Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Grantham is survived by his wife, Sharon W. Grantham of the home; a son, Lane L. Grantham of Clinton; a daughter, LaJuan Messer of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Grover Grantham of Salemburg and Leo Grantham, of Roseboro; three sisters, Evelyn G. Jackson of Roseboro, Annie B. Naylor of Salemburg and Vernelle English of Westfield, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Junior ‘J.C.’ Hardee (dated Monday, Dec. 29, 1997)
NICHOLS, S.C. -- Junior Charles “J.C.” Hardee, 65, of Nichols, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Sunday in McLeod Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired tobacco farmer and a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Cherry Hill Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Lloyd Williamson.
Mr. Hardee is survived by his wife, Joyce H. Hardee of Nichols; a son, Jimmy C. Hardee of Thomasville, N.C.; a stepson, Mark Edwards of Laurinburg, N.C.; two daughters, Diane Creel and JoAnn McGaha, both of Trinity, N.C.; a brother, Willie Danford of Hope Mills, N.C.; a sister, Betty Vogt of Hope Mills; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris.
Mrs. Rosina Brown (dated Monday, Dec. 29, 1997)
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Mrs. Rosina Brown of Hartford, formerly of Whiteville, N.C., died Friday in Hartford.

Billy F. Britt (dated Monday, Dec. 29, 1997)
LUMBERTON -- Billy Franklin Britt of 823 Stephens Road died Sunday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Broadridge Baptist Church by the Revs. John Hamm and Doug Worley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Britt is survived by his wife, Isolene P. Britt of the home; two sons, Dannie Morris and Billie C. Britt, both of Lumberton; a brother, Grady Britt of Lumberton; four sisters, Ailene B. Parker, Louise B. Parker and Ruby B. Wilkerson, all of Orrum, and Magalene Hardin of Lumberton; and two grandsons.

LUMBERTON -- Jasper Pittman, 61, of 4784 Beulah Church Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beulah Baptist Church by the Revs. Tim Tyner and Randolph Browning. Burial will be in the Pittman family cemetery.
Mr. Pittman is survived by his wife, Shelby Pittman of the home; four sons, Tony Pittman, Dale L. Pittman, Ricky N. Pittman and Clayton C. Willoughby, all of Lumberton; a daughter, Phyllis P. Allen of Lumberton; two brothers, Matthew Pittman and Edward Pittman, both of Lumberton; five sisters, Beatrice Thomas of Stone Mountain, Ga., Jesse P. Britt and Dora Smith, both of Lumberton, Dorothy Huggins of Decatur, Ga., and Lillian Long of Wouborn, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

FREEMONT -- Mrs. Judy Clara Thornton Lee, 60, of 7006 Isaac Road, formerly of Sampson County died Saturday in her home.

Bobby R. Norris (dated Monday, Dec. 29, 1997)
CAMERON -- Bobby Ray Norris, 61, of J.R. Mackey Lane died Saturday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
He was a heavy-equipment operator for Martin Marietta Aggregates.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hillman Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Chris Wroten and Ralph Baker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, Alice F. White Norris of the home; his mother, Jesse B. Norris of Sanford; two sons, Randy R. Norris of Lillington and Jimmy R. Norris of Sanford; a brother, Harold J. Norris of Sanford; three sisters, Faye N. Strouth and Mary N. Spuryear, both of Sanford and Peggy N. Seamone of Concord; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Margaret Covington (dated Monday, Dec. 29, 1997)
ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Margaret Covington, 84, of 804 King Road died Thursday in Windsor House in Rockingham.
She was a member of Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Carver Jones. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Nelson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Covington is survived by three sisters, Blanche Harris of Asheboro, Drucilla McLean of Washington, D.C. and Lula Gaddy of Rockingham.
Mrs. Margaret Goodwin (dated Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997)
Mrs. Margaret Chauvey Goodwin, 40, of Fayetteville died Thursday.
A private service will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.
Mrs. Goodwin is survived by her husband, Frank F. Goodwin Jr. of Fayetteville; her mother, Adelaide Howard of Rochester, N.H.; a brother, D. Edward Chauvey of Rochester; and a sister, Kathi Lynch of Dover, N.H.

CANDOR -- Mrs. Juanita Epps Jordan, 66, of Bedford Church Road died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Tabernacle Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Phillips. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her husband, Reid Jordan of the home; three sons, Jeff Jordan of Candor, Mark Jordan of Seagrove and Tim Jordan of Troy; a daughter, Sandy J. Dunn of Mt. Gilead; a sister, Dorothy E. Blake of Albemarle; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McMillan is survived by a son, Pastor Clifton J. McMillan of Cleveland, Miss.; a daughter, Sandra M. Covington of Rockingham; a brother, Pride Everett of Rockingham; and five grandchildren.

ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Lessie C. Evans, 91, of 804 Long Drive died Friday in Windsor Care of Rockingham.

Mrs. Evans is survived by three daughters, Edna Stubbs of Bennettsville, S.C., Annie R. Quick of Hamlet and Christine Stewart of Brooklyn; a sister, Dorothy Dillard of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Young is survived by a daughter, Adrena J. Davis of Chadbourn; her mother, Elizabeth Davis of Evergreen; her father, James Gause of Evergreen; a sister, Martha Davis of Chadbourn; and two brothers, Joseph P. Davis Jr. and James A. Davis, both of Whiteville.
