Dorothy Burris
Mrs. Dorothy Christine White Burris, 52, of Oakboro, passed on November 21, 2000 at Stanly Memorial Hospital. A funeral service was held November 24 at Barbee's Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Garry Baker and Rev. Charles Carver officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Burris was born February 23, 1948 in Stanly County, the child of Leo Farmer White and John Houston White. She was a housekeeper at the Oakboro Baptist Home for the Aged. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Eugene Burris of the home; a daughter, Christy Burris of the home; a step-daughter, Darlene Burris of Albemarle and a brother, James White, of Albemarle.

Warren Huneycutt
Warren Dillon Huneycutt, 49, of Stanfield, passed on November 20, 2000 at NorthEast Medical Center. A graveside service was held November 22 at First Baptist Church in Locust with Rev. Kinney Wallace officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Huneycutt was born October 22, 1951 in Cabarrus County, the son of warren G. Huneycutt and Mildred Cook Huneycutt. He attended Appalachian State University in Boone, and was self-employed.
He is survived by his Father and Mother, Warren G. and Mildred C. Huneycutt.

Art Kluttz
Artie Royce Kluttz, 65, passed on at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte November 10, 2000. A funeral service was held November 12 at First Baptist Church, Locust with Rev. Kenny Wallace officiating. Burial was in Love's Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery in Stanfield.
Mr. Kluttz was born September 25, 1935 in Stanly County, the son of Artie Henry Kluttz and Johnnie Lois Barbee Kluttz. He has been the owner and operator of Locust Tire and Car Care for 38 years. He served in the United States Marines for 10 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Locust.
Survivors include his wife, Janie L. Kluttz of the home; two sons, John Chad Kluttz and Michael Royce Kluttz, both of Stanfield; a daughter, Sheila and husband Darrell Hartsell of Locust; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Megan and Madison Hartsell and Colton and Michaela Kluttz.

Ruby Burleyson
A funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Bell King Burleyson, 90, was held November 12, 2000 at Friendship United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Harrill officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Burleyson passed on at Brian Center Health and Retirement in Charlotte November 9.
She was born March 23, 1910 in Carlton, Ga. Her parents were Lucy Amanda Seymour King and William Sanford King. She was married
to the late Leroy Crowell Burleyson who died November 6, 1999. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church Special thanks to Brian Center on Reddman Road, Charlotte; Dr. Dale Owen, MD; Mrs. Frances Porterfield, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Penninger, Mrs. Mitzie Hartis, Mrs. Leeann Babinski, Mrs. Cheryl Wade, Mrs. Linda McKinnon, Mrs. Annette Williams and Hospice of Stanly County.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Cathe Burleyson of Charlotte; a brother, Robert Jackson King of Georgia; two sisters, Mozelle King Gunter of Georgia; and Frances King Porterfield of Georgia; a granddaughter, Bevekah Burleyson of Albemarle; a grandson, Trey Daugherty of Charlotte and a great-grandchild Austin Shawn Morton of Albemarle.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Bill King, Henry King, James King, Albert King, George King, Van King, Roy King and three sisters, Edna Gunter, Delfree McCannon, Laura Irene Hammonds.
Frederick Cornwright Jr.
Frederick William "Bill" Cornwright Jr., 57, of Badin, passed on November 11, 2000 at Dosher Memorial Hospital. A funeral service was held November 13 at Badin United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Bob Romanello, Rev. Kent Little and Rev. Wes Judy officiating. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle.
Mr. Cornwright was born April 18, 1943 in Baltimore Md. His parents were Ella Katherine Young Cornwright and Frederick William Cornwright Sr.
He was a retired electrical design engineer at American Circuit Breaker and served in the United States Navy.
He was a graduate of Badin High School, class of 1961, and UNC Charlotte, class of 1975 with a Bachelor Degree in electrical engineering technology. He enjoyed collecting antiques, restoring and refurbishing antique clocks and vintage radios. He served in Vietnam, E6 and EET. Internment military rites were by the Albemarle Stanly County DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Sue Flake Cornwright of the home; a son, William Brett Cornwright of Raleigh; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey Ann Cornwright Parrish and husband Timothy Mark of Charlotte; a brother-in-law, Joe M. Flake and wife Catherine of Richfield; two nieces, Lanie Flake Little and husband Kent of Albemarle and Lara McLester Rhodes of Matthews; a sister-in-law, Carol Flake of Lexington and a great nephew, Joey Little of Albemarle.

Linda Burnette
A funeral service was held October 10, 2000 for Mrs. Linda Charleen Akers Burnette, 39, of New London. The service was at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rob Roberts presiding. burial was in Norview Gardens, Inc. in Norwood. She died at her residence on October 7. Mrs. Burnette was born November 3, 1960 in Welch, West Va. Her father was the late William Ed Akers. She was a cashier at Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Survivors include her husband, David L. Burnette of the home; her mother, Shirley Ann Huston Akers Hamrick of Richfield; a son, Kelly Trump of New London; two brothers, Thomas Akers of Richfield and Aaron Akers of Mullens, West Va.; five sisters, Stephanie Blalock of Richfield, Lisa Akers of Albemarle, Peggy Fury of Gold Hill, Ethel Haley of Oakboro and Frankie Reed of New London; and one grandchild.
Jimmie Lee Huneycutt
Elder Rob Kerley and Elder Larry Austin officiated at a funeral service at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church on October 14, 2000 for Jimmie Lee Huneycutt, 58, of Oakboro. He died at his residence on October 12.
He was born in Stanly County, the son of the late Houston Huneycutt. He was a retired ingot room worker at ALCOA. He was a member of Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kay N. Huneycutt of the home; his mother, Mary Lorraine Huneycutt Tucker of Locust; two daughters, Kristie Marks of Oakboro and Jamie Huneycutt of Raleigh; a granddaughter, Alyssa Marks of Oakboro; two brothers, Clyde Huneycutt of Belmont and Richard Huneycutt of Locust; two sisters, Diana Drye of Oakboro and Peggy Beatty of Locust; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Wayne (Geneva) Beachum of Charlotte. Grace Burris
Mrs. Grace Estelle Tucker Burris, 89, died October 10, 2000 at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center. A funeral service was held October 12 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial chapel. Rev. Garry Baker presided. Burial was in Red Cross Baptist Church cemetery in Oakboro where she was a member.
She was born August 16, 1911 in Stanly County, the daughter of Myrtle Smith Tucker and Clarence Otis Tucker. Married to the late Fred Allis Burris, she was a retired homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Malcolm Tucker of Albemarle and Johnny Burris of Oakboro; a brother, Curtis Tucker of Oakboro; a sister, Cleonia Holt of Richfield; and three grandchildren.

William Austin
William Douglas Austin died at his residence in Oakboro on October 12, 2000. He was 50. A funeral service was held October 15 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Elder Ervin Hatley presided. Burial was in Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery, Oakboro.
Mr. Austin was born March 19, 1950 in Stanly County, the son of Grace Lee Little Austin and Clinton David "Pete" Austin. He was a machinist for Stanly Fxture Company.
Survivors include a sister, Wanda Nichols and two nephews, David And Clint Nichols, all of Oakboro.
Horace Barton
Funeral services for Horace Arvil Barton, 82, of 1402 Northrest Dr., Albemarle, were held August 6, 2000, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Wilson presiding.
Mr. Barton died August 3, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born January 10, 1918, son of Vic and Henry Barton. Mr. Barton was a retired district purchasing agent with Alcoa. He served in the Army during World War II and was a graduate of Iowa State. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife, LaVerne W. Barton, of the home; son, Bruce Barton of Atlanta; brother, Ray Barton of San Antonio; and grandson, Daniel Barton of Atlanta.
