James Paschall
PELHAM, N.C. - The funeral for James Wesley Paschall, 66, 927 Newman Road, will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Cletus Grubbs. Burial will be in Pelham United Methodist Church cemetery.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following 16 months of declining health.
Born April 2, 1930, in Caswell County, he was a son of Daniel Wesley Paschall and Bessie Gauldin Paschall.
He spent his entire life in the Pelham community of Caswell County. He was employed by Dan River Mills as an overhaulder in the spinning room and maintenance department for many years. He was a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Reidsville.
Survivors include two sons, James Robert Paschall of the residence and Danny Dwain Paschall of Pelham; a sister, Hazel Paschall Chilton of Pelham; a half-sister, Louise Strohl of Richmond; two brothers, Wilson Paschall of Eden and Nathan Paschall of Pelham; three grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of a son, James Robert Paschall, 1021 Newman Road, Pelham.
Pricie Allen
EDEN, N.C. - Pricie Salmons Allen, 69, 123 Old Highway 87, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, in Morehead Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Cascade.
She was married
to Jasper Allen, who survives.
She was a member of Spray Baptist Church. For many years, she was employed by Fieldcrest Mills. She retired from Gravely Furniture.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include her mother, Mary Page Salmons of Eden; a daughter, Dot Farmer of Eden; a son, Joe Mize of Eden; a stepdaughter, Hilda Farris of Eden; two stepsons, Anthony Allen of Winston-Salem and Jerry Allen of Eden; a brother, A.W. Salmons of Danville, Va.; four sisters, Estelle Comer of Summerfield, Sallie Lillard and Betty Smith, both of Eden, and Mary Knowles of Danville; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Burial will be in Danview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Edith Clark
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Edith Apple Clark, 85, 398 Cedar Lane, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, in Moses Cone Extended Care.
She was a native of Rockingham County.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Reidsville City School System. She was also of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Survivors include six daughters, Mary E. Miller and Judy Clark Stone, both of Reidsville, Betty Bliss Smith of Memphis, Tenn., Edith Rebecca Jenkins of Summerfield, Ruby Lee Horsley and Linda Sue Stanley, both of Richmond; two sons, O.C. Clark of Hillsborough and Bill Clark of Reidsville; two sisters, Mildred Strader of Reidsville and Mamie Apple Crumpton of Kernersville; a brother, William Apple of Reidsville; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Eleanor Williamson
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Eleanor Lea Williamson, 132 N.C. Hwy. 62 South, died Saturday, Feb., 8, 1997, in her residence.
Born Oct. 23, 1908, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Tommy and Julia Hill Lea.
She was married
to Walter Williamson, who predeceased her.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pearson Chapel AME Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Emma Lois W. Monroe of Blanch; three sons, Walter Lee Williamson and Julian Williamson, both of Yanceyville, and Julius Williamson of Mebane; three sisters, Sallie McKay of Fayetteville, Nannie Belpree of Yanceyville, and Melba Bellmar of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Pearson Chapel AME Church by the Rev. Cephus Lee and the Rev. George Turner. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-7:30 tonight at Fulton Funeral Home of Yanceyville, and other times at the residence.
Arnie Pulliam
LEASBURG, N.C. - Arnie Fester Pulliam, 62, 4321 Hwy. 119 North, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in Person County Hospital, following a long term of declining health.
Born in Caswell County, he was a son of Boyd C. and Eva Tate Pulliam.
He was married
to Evelyn R. Pulliam, who survives.
He graduated from Prospect Hill High School and Alamance Community College.
He was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
He was department chairman of Wayne Community College. He was also member and past president of Leasburg Ruritan Club and was voted Ruritan of the Year in 1996.
He also served in the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Michelle P. Ginn of Goldsboro; four sisters, Verlene Carter, Judy Clayton, and Faye Baker, all of Mebane, and Roan Groom of Wilmington; a brother, Joseph D. Pulliam of Burlington; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Union United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Hooper Funeral Home of Yanceyville.
Evelyn Allen
DURHAM, N.C. - Evelyn H. Allen, 66, 1009 Plum St., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in Duke Medical Center.
Born May 20, 1930, in Danville, Va., she was a daughter of George W. and Mary Henderson Holland.
She was married
to Haywood Allen Sr., who survives.
She was employed as secretary for North Carolina Mutual Headquarters in Durham. She was also a member of White Rock Baptist Church in Durham.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two sons, Haywood Allen Jr. of Cary and Keith Allen of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Cora Allen of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Bernice Bryant of Danville and Elizabeth Trent of Rustburg, Va.; two brothers, Edward Bernard Holland of Danville and Hiram T. Holland of Amherst, Va.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday from White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayette St., Durham, by the Rev. Reginald Van Stephens.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Pookey Fisher Funeral Home, 3137 Fayette St., Durham.
Joan Smith
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Joan Elizabeth Smith, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in her residence, following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 13, 1942, in New Jersey, she was a daughter of William Elwood Freeman, who survives, and Margaret Budd Freeman.
She was married
to Daniel Peter Smith, who survives.
She was formerly employed by Internal Medicine Associates in Danville, Va. She also attended Columbia International University in preparation for the ministry in Hospital Chaplaincy.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Bible Study Class and the Women of the Church, and also ministered to the elderly. She also attended Eau Claire Presbyterian Church in West Columbia.
She volunteered with the Red Cross and the Mental Health Association.
In addition to her father of Whiting, N.J., and her husband of the residence, survivors include two sons, Jason L. Smith and Brian Z. Smith, both of the residence.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jack Heinsohn Jr. Burial will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends following the service Saturday at the church.

David Stowe
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - The funeral for David Lenear Stowe, 91, 1756 Park Springs Road, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Community Baptist Church by the Rev. R.G. Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in Stratford Health Center of Danville, Va.
Born Feb. 22, 1905, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Ullysis S. Grant Stowe and Rebecca Daniel Stowe.
He was first married
to Mable Haymore Stowe, who died in 1981. In 1983, he was married
to Elsie Walker Stowe, who survives.
He was a member of Community Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the deacon board for 50 years.
Prior to his retirement in 1970, he was employed by Dan River Mills Inc. He then worked in the funeral service for 15 years, retiring from Hooper Funeral Home in 1983.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Adele S. Warren of Yanceyville; two sons, Howard L. Stowe and Calvin O. Stowe, both of Yanceyville; four stepsons, Phileman Walker, Ronald Walker, and Kenneth Walker, all of Providence, and Clyde Walker of Milton; a brother, Irvin Stowe of Danville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter, 3928 Old Hwy. 86 North, Yanceyville.
Marley Funeral Home of Yanceyville is in charge of arrangements.
Grace Ledford
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - Grace Davis Ledford, 79, 1869 Walters Mill Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, in Duke Medical Center, following several years of declining health.
Born Feb. 20, 1917, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Azariah Davis and Lillian Guthrie Davis.
She was first married
to Clifton Harris, who predeceased her. She was later married
to Jeffrey Ledford, who is also deceased.
She spent her entire life in Caswell County and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Dan River Inc. for 30 years.
Survivors include a son, Doug Harris of Providence; a sister, Edna Carter of Providence; a brother, Cedric Davis of Providence; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her first and second husband, she was predeceased by a son, John Alvin Harris.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday from Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Clark. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home in Danville, Va., and other times at the residence of her son, 1987 Walters Mill Road.
