Mable Saunders
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - Mable Heitt Saunders, 76, of 3740 Walters Mill Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 11, 1923, in Pittsylvania County, Va., she was a daughter of John H. and Sallie Logan Heitt.
She was married
to Vernam E. Saunders, who survives.
She was self-employed as a domestic. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, Saunders is survived by a son, Vernam E. Saunders Jr. of Danville; two daughters, Eyvonne S. Braken of Reidsville and Wanda "Kay" Poteat of Yanceyville; a brother, Pride Heitt of Washington, D.C., a sister; Vivian Hunt of Danville, Va.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence, 3740 Walters Mill Road.

Dorothy Mabe
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Dorothy Mae Bollin Mabe, 67, died Monday morning, October 25, 1999, at Annie Penn Hospital.
She was born in Stokes County to the late Elmer Rufus Wade Bollin and Betty Mae Taylor Bollin.
She was previously employed with Macfield and was a home health aide. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clyde Mabe in 1965.
Survivors include two daughters Jeanette Edwards of Manchester, Tenn, and Sandra Stevens and husband, Robert of Sutherlin, Va.; one adopted son Michael Heath Mabe of Texas; four grandsons, Ethan Stevens, Lathan Reed, Austin Reed, and T.J. Reed; three brothers Eugene Bowlin and wife, Ruth of Stoneville, Clifton Bowlin and wife, Doris of Greensboro, Chester Bowlin of Candor, N.C.; three sisters Macie Throckmorton of Walnut Cove, N.C., Katherine Wooley of Candor, N.C., and Sylvia Ray of Windsor, N.C.; and special friends, Carolyn and Tim Lovelace.
A funeral will be held, Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Northview Primitive Baptist Church in Danbury, N.C.
The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Philip Wyatt
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - Philip Ryan "Flip" Wyatt, 16, of 60 Little Mill Creek Drive, died Monday, October 25, 1999, on West Main Street, Danville, Va., in an automobile accident.
Born November 8,1982, in Siler City, he was the son of Terry Layne Wyatt and Denise Haley Wyatt, who both survive.
Philip Ryan "Flip" Wyatt died October 25, 1999, on West Main Street in Danville after injuries substained in an automobile accident. Philip lived his life in the Providence and Danville area where he was a junior at Bartley Yancey High School. He was an avid skate boarder and a past member of Don Donevan School of Karate. Philip was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents of the residence, survivors include one brother, Jason Daniel Wyatt of Danville; paternal grandmother and paternal step-grandfather, Shirley Holley and Richard Holley, both of Danville; maternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Haley of Danville; paternal great-grandmother, Annie Mae Brooks of Danville; and maternal great-grandmother Elsie Saunders of Danville; and girlfriend, Evelyn Graham of Danville.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Wayne Reece and the Reverend Eddie Davis officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel and at other times at the residence.
Kenneth David Hicks Sr.
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Kenneth David Hicks Sr., 52, of 2311 Foster Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 20, 1947, in Caswell County, he was the son of John Ross Hicks and Myrtle Church Hicks.
He married
Mary Linda Talbott Hicks, who survives.
He retired from long distance truck driver due to disability. He was a member of Community Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of Yanceyville, survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Hicks and Dawn Marie Hicks, both of Yanceyville; three sons, Kenneth David Hicks Jr. of Ruffin, N.C., David Lee Hicks and Jackson Ray Hicks, both of Yanceyville; two sisters, Pearl Gentry of Purley, N.C., and Muriel Talbott of Blanch, N.C.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Community Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating.

Louise Stanfield Jones
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Louise Stanfield Jones, 75 of 1814 Fairway Dr. died Saturday, October 30, 1999 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
A native of the Williamsburg Community of Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late Elder Thomas Alvis and Florence Monsees Stanfield and she lived in Reidsville most of her life.
A graduate of Draughnn Business College in Winston-Salem. She retired as the secretary of Reidsville Middle School after 20 years of service.
She was a charter member of Woodmont United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and was a faithful member of the Wesley Sunday School class.
Louise was a member of the Flora Garden Club and a former tour guide at Chinqua-Penn Plantation.
Survivors include her husband Bernard M. Jones of the residence; one son, Jonathan A. Jones and his wife Judy S. Jones, of Hanover, Pa.; three daughters, Mary J. Apple and her husband Bill Apple, Margaret J. Apple and her husband Mike Apple, and Dena J. West and her husband Lee West, all of Reidsville; one sister, Mary Frances Williams and her husband Burnell Williams of Blairs, Va; and eight grandchildren, Mara and Lindsay Apple, Wade Apple, Mary Margaret and Laura Lee West, all of Reidsville, and Morgan, Emma, and Faith Jones of Hanover, Pa.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodmont United Methodist Church, with burial in Reidlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Woodmont United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodmont United Methodist Church, 1926 Richardson Dr., Reidsville, N. C..

Mark Giles
PINEHURST, N.C. - Mark Lynn Giles, 47, of 1445 Burning Tree Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at his residence.
He grew up in Chatham, Va., he was the son of Reginald Giles and Inez Giles, who both survive.
He was married
to Judy M. Giles, who also survive.
He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church in Chatham. Three years ago, he and his wife retied to Pinehurst where he became a member of Pinebluff Lions Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
In addition to his parents of Chatham, and wife of the residence, survivors include one brother, Michael Giles of Mechanicsville, Va.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Haywood Alcorn and the Rev. Darrell Campbell officiating.

Aldeen Royal
LEASBURG, N.C. - Aldeen Royal, 86, of 1205 Kelly Brewer Road, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at VA Hospital, Durham, N.C.
Born Nov. 23, 1912, in Caswell County, N.C., he was the son of Al Royal and Cora Royal.
He married
Beatrice Stewart Royal, who survives.
He attended the public schools of Caswell County. He served in the United States Army. Following his military time, he was a tobacco farmer in Caswell County.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include five daughters, Daisy Elmore of Blanch, Frances Royal of Yanceyville, Katie Royal and Connie Royal, both of Semora, Emma Dean Royal of the residence; two sons, David Royal of the residence and Aldean Royal of Semora; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be noon-8 p.m. Wednesday at Plenty Funeral Home Chapel.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Macedonia A.M.E. Church Semora, N.C., with the Rev. Daniel Elmore officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Octola Poteat
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Octola Poteat, 88, formerly of 1183 West Main St., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999 at Danville Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born Oct. 2, 911 in Caswell County, she was the daughter of William B. and Selena Walker Harrelson.
She was a graduate of Cobb Memorial High School, class of 930, retired secretary from Caswell County Farm Bureau and after her retirement she worked part-time at the Caswell County Department of Social Services. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and also of the Methodist Women.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda W. Hodges of Yanceyville, one son, William L. Wood of Panama City, Fla., and one step-daughter, Sandra Poteat Trainor of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Roberta H. Robertson of Reidsville and Gladys H. Rainey of Ruffin, Va.; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Prospect United Methodist Church with Interment in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 145 West Wood Drive and in the church fellowship hall following the service.

James Bolden Sr.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mr. James Wesley Bolden Sr., 69, resident of Greensboro died Tuesday morning at 1:35 a.m. in the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Bolden was born January 1, 1930, in Danville, Va., a son of John and Estelle Whitt Bolden. He had been a resident of the Jamestown area since 1966, and was owner and operator of Quality Sample Co. Inc. Mr. Bolden was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church. On September 23, 1949, he was married
to Bertra Ward who survives of the home.
Also surviving are 1 daughter; Mrs. Allen (Cynthia) Saunders of 4545 Peace Rd., Trinity and 1 son; James W. Bolden Jr. of 4907 Trailwood Dr. Greensboro; one Sister; Mrs. Tom (Ann) Norwood of Daytona Beach, Fla. And 1 brother; Clement Monroe Bolden of Miami, Fla.; four Grandchildren; Kristopher Michael and Kelly Suzanne Bolden, Elliott Ward and Christian James Saunders.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11:00a.m. from the Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, Va., by Dr. C.M. Worthy.
The family will receive friends at the Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Dr. High Point, Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
