Lonnie Harston

ROXBORO, N.C. — Lonnie Allen Harston, 49, of 24 Parkview Circle, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Survivors include his mother, Elassie W. Harston of Roxboro; six sisters, Carolyn Harston and Faye Jones, both of Danville, Deborah Fite of New Orleans, Jan Spinner of Lynchburg, Pansie Harston of Roxboro and Annet Harston of Chatham; three brothers, Herman Harston of Bland, Ervin Harston of Greensboro, N.C. and Jeffery Harston of Danville.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Person Memorial Cemetery in Roxboro with Marvin McCullough officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Roy King

RUFFIN, N.C. — Roy King, 66, of 195 Springwater Road, died on Thursday, August 23, 2001 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 26, 2001 at Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Mr. King was born in Rockingham County to the late Henry O. King and Lillie Warren King. He worked at Cone Mills and retired from American Tobacco Company after twenty years of service. Mr. King was preceded in death by a son, Roy Stephen King, brothers, Dewey, June, Curtis, Robert Lee and Carl King.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Ingram King of the residence; daughter, Robin Maness and husband, Tim of Ruffin; grandchildren, Sabrena Johnson of Statesville, Michael King of Greensboro and Samantha Nicholson and husband, Scott of Cooleemee; great grandchildren, Brenna Nicholson, Tabitha Nicholson and Scott Micholson, Jr.; brothers, Harvey King and wife, Vinnie and James King; sisters, Thelma Eaton and husband, Larry, Mary Fitch and husband, Ralph; special friends, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Dishmon; numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, August 25, 2001 from 7:00-9:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.

Florence Lea

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Florence Jeffries Lea, 70, of 772 Brown Road, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 18, 1931, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of Henderson Jeffries and Bessie Lea Jeffries.
She was married icon to Rev. Eunice Lea, who predeceased her. She was a member of Hamer Missionary Baptist Church and was employed by the Brian Center Nursing Home.
Survivors include one son, Kelvin Lea of Yanceyville; one brother, Oscar Jeffries of Reidsville and three sisters, Marie Morrow of Yonkers, N.Y., Lenna Jeffries and Frances J. Jackson, both of Yanceyville.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by one daughter, Velma Lea and one sister, Ann Robinson.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Hamer Baptist Church with the Rev. Cephus Lea officiating. Interment will follow at High Rock Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Fulton Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Fulton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Maria Shirley

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Maria Janie Gwynn Shirley, of the Brian Center Nursing Home, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at the residence.
Born Nov. 2, 1926, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of Ross Gwynn Sr. and Daisy Boswell Gwynn.
She was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church and was a retired cook.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Williamson of Reidsville; three brothers, Roy Gwynn, Ulyssess Gwynn and Ross Gwynn Jr. all of Pelham; four sisters, Mary Graves of Yanceyville, Eleanor Mitchell of Maryland, Annie G. Yancey of Pelham and Rachel Holland of Danville and one grandchild.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by one brother, Billie Gwynn and one sister, Florence Gwynn.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Blackwell Baptist Church with the Rev. Everett Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The viewing will be held 2-8 p.m. Friday at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel.
Fulton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Vinston

MILTON, N.C. — Mildred Odella Vinston, 83, of 74 Community Circle, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001.
Born March 30, 1918, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Irene Williamson.
She was married icon to Johnnie Alfred Vinston, who survives. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church and attended the public schools of Caswell County.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of the residence, include one daughter, Nellie Lea of Greensboro; two sons, Kirk Alfred Vinston of Milton and Barry Blake Vinston of Danville; one sister, Herneetta Johnson of New York; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at High Street Baptist Church in Milton with the Rev. Aruthur Crews officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Danville.
The wake will be held from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at Plenty Funeral Home Chapel in Semora.
Plenty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Williamson

PELHAM, N.C. — Jerry Walter Williamson of 128 Mount View Drive in Pelham died Wednesday morning at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Caswell County. Mr. Williamson was a retiree of Corning Glass Corporation and was a member of the Mount View Community Crime Watch. He was a faithful member of Bibleway World Wide Cathedral in Danville, where he served with the Male Chorus, The Brotherhood Auxiliary, Board of Ushers and was a transportation driver. Surviving are: a loving wife of 39 years, Mrs. Minnie Haley Williamson of the home; three sons, Wendell M. Williamson and spouse, Shirley, both of Durham, Rufus D. Williamson of Augusta, Georgia, Kent A. Williamson and spouse, Evangelist Constance Williamson, both of Henderson; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Peggy W. Lowe and spouse, James of Reidsville; three brothers, James E. Williamson, Jr. and spouse, Esther of Mauldin, South Carolina, Douglas H. Williamson and spouse, Geraldine of Fort Washington, Maryland, Christopher L. Williamson of Yanceyville; four aunts, Ms. Mary Lillie Graves of Danville, Virginia, Ms. Ola Harrelson of Ruffin, Ms. Ruby Harrelson of Pelham and Ms. Annie Mae Williamson of Reidsville; one uncle, Hensley Williamson of Reidsville; other relatives and a multitude of treasured friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday from the Bibleway World Wide Cathedral, 152 Grant Street, Danville, Virginia with Elder Phillip Campbell and Rev. Hayes Mc Connell presiding. Fannie Yarbrough

MILTON, N.C. — Fannie Barker Yarbrough, age 97, of 11858 Academy Street, Milton, N.C. died at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, Danville, Virginia on Thursday, August 16, 2001, where she had been a patient for the past three months.
Born February 13, 1904, in Caswell County and educated in the public schools, she was the third oldest daughter of Edward Howell Barker and Frances Fullington Barker.
At an early age, she attended Connally Methodist Church, later joining the Baptist Church and serving along with her husband, the Rev. A.F. Yarbrough, paster of Blanch Baptist Church.
A former member of the Milton Women’s Club and the Milton Homemakers’ Extension Club, she was named 1963 “Mother of the Year” by the Extension Club. When asked what her motto for life was, she said, “Life is a series of ups-and-downs, and I’ve tried to build on the ‘ups’.” I was taught self-reliance, and if things didn’t work out one hundred percent, then build on the percentage that did.”
On December 26, 1922, she married icon Algie Fleming Yarbrough. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1995, a few months prior to their seventy-third anniversary.
Survivors include three daughters, Lila Y. Powell, Blanch, NC, Aretta Y. Mason, Princeton, NC, Bradeen Y. Short, Humboldt, IA, one sister, Blanche B. Slaughter, Yanceyville, NC, four grandsons: James K. Powell, USAF Chaplain B. Clifton Short, Jr., Al D. Short, Daryl R. Short; one granddaughter, Frances P. Harper, and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2001 at Blanch Baptist Church by the Rev. George Rummey, Chaplain B.C. Short, Jr., and John Bradsher. Burial will follow in the Blanch Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Marley Funeral Home, Yanceyville, NC, and other times at the residence in Milton, NC.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Blanch Baptist Church Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund, in care of Lila Webster, 1924 Blanch Road, Blanch, NC 27212.

Justin Cunningham

MILTON, N.C. — Justin Ulysus Cunningham, 13, died Aug. 25, 2001, in Virginia Beach.
Born Jan. 23, 1988, in Caswell County, he was the son of Ulysus Butch Cunningham and Gale Noble.
He was a native of Caswell County and was in eighth grade at Dillard Junior High School. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Semora.
Survivors include his father, Ulysus Butch Cunningham; his mother, Gale Noble; stepfather, Timothy Noble; and one sister, Dametrice Diane Smith.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. P.D. Medley officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The memorial service will be held from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
The family will be at the residence, 4561 Yarborough Mill Road in Milton.

Laura McFall

DURHAM, N.C. — Mrs. Laura Anderson McFall, of Hillcrest Convalescent Center, formerly of Danville, died Mon. Aug. 27.
Mrs. McFall was a graduate of Converse College, and a former librarian at Y.E. Smith Elementary School.
She was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
Mrs. McFall was married icon to the late Frank B. McFall, Jr. She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Laura and Edwin Bloodworth, of Sparta, N.C., a son and daughter in law, Frank and Grace McFall, of Allison Park, PA., one grandson and four granddaughters. She was a blessing to all her friends and family.

Sarah Watt

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. —Sarah E. Watt, of 2711 Oregon Hill, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Brian Center in Yanceyville.
Born in Caswell County, she was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, where she served as an usher, deaconess and a member of the Missionary Circle. She was employed at Dan River Mills for 26 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Blackstock of the residence; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Annie Irving of Danville.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bluestone Baptist Church with the Rev. J.B. Doe officiating. Interment will follow at Bluestone Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 7-7:30 p.m. Friday at McLaurin Funeral Home, Reidsville.

Mabel Prowell

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Mabel Orline Jones Prowell, 64, of 418 N. Grove St., died Sept. 3, 2001, at Lincolnton Medical Hospital.
Born May 2, 1937, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Archer Jones and Iola Trammell Jones.
She was married icon to Clifton Cash Prowell, who survives. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of Lincolnton, include three sons, David M. Saad of Lockport, Ill., Mark L. Prowell and Clifton H. Prowell, both of Wake Forest; five sisters, Mealie McCormick of Altavista, Mildred Barksdale of South Boston, Maggie Adams of Halifax, Maxine Rice and Mary Griffith, both of Wake Forest; three brothers, James Jones of Petersburg, Edward Jones of Springfield, Ohio and Bobby Jones of South Boston; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by one daughter, Mabel Frances Prowell; two brothers, Hurley Jones and Flenoury Jones and one sister, Margaret Milton.
The funeral will be held 4 p.m. Thursday at Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Maggie and James Adams, 4054 L.P. Bailey Highway in Halifax.
