MARGARET O. COULTER
Margaret Otelia Beilman Coulter, 91, of 420 Pine Lake Drive, Siler City, died Monday (9-30-2002) at Sun Bridge Care Facilities.
A funeral mass was held at 12 noon on Wednesday (10-2-2002) at St. Julia Catholic Parrish with Father Michael Lorentsen officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (10-4-2002) at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
Mrs. Coulter was a native of Wilkes Barrie, PA, a member of St. Julia's Catholic Parrish and was a retired secretary with Sun Oil Company.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan C. Armstrong of Siler City; sister, Jean Slomoultz of Wilkes Barrie, PA; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
ALTON G. CAMPBELL
Alton G. Campbell, 81, of Southern Pines, died Friday (9-27-2002).
A memorial service was held on Monday (9-30-2002) at 10 a.m. at the Penick Village in Southern Pines with Rev. Mark Wethington officiating, followed by another memorial service at 4 p.m. at Pittsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Benny Melvin officiating.
A native of Wake County, Mr. Campbell is a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy serving primarily in the Pacific Theater and in China. He was principal of Bonlee Elementary, Chatham Central and Northwood and served as Secondary Supervisor until retiring in 1983. He was an organizer of the Silk Hope Ruritan Club and a member of the Ruritans Club and served as President of the Board of the Council on Aging. A member of the Pittsboro United Methodist Church, he was a Lay Leader and served as a Sunday School teacher for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hoyle Porter of Charlotte; sons, Alton G. Campbell, Jr. of Moscow, ID and Carlyle C. Campbell of Dayton, OH; daughter, Mary C. Cooper of Pittsboro; brother, Rev. Paul P. Campbell of Richmond, VA; sister, Elizabeth C. Langley of Virginia Beach, VA; and four grandchildren.

H. EDWARD JOHNSON
Henry Edward (Eddie) Johnson, 86, of 134 Stage Coach Roac, Siler City, died Monday (9-30-2002) at Care View Rest Home in Snow Camp.
A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday (10-02-2002) at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5016 Silk Hope-Gum Spring Road, Siler City, with Rev. Lamont Hemminger officiating.
A native of Chatham County, Mr. Johnson was retired from Siler City Mills, Inc.
He is survived by his sister, Estelle J. Harper of Siler City; half-brother, Floyd Teague, Jr. and half-sister, Fitima Groce, both of Pittsboro; and two grandsons.
CHARLES JOHN STINSON
Charles John Stinson, infant son of Chuck and Pamela Stinson of 444 E. Kline St., Lansford, Pennsylvania, 18232, was born on November 21, 2002 and died November 22, 2002.
Memorial services were held in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Leisha Stinson and Alaijia Stinson, maternal grandparents, Michael and Sandra Tilghman of Eustis, FL; and Skip and Susan Hanson of Wallingford, CT; paternal grandmother, Eleanor Stinson Jones of Philadelphia, PA.
ROSS ISHAM HINSHAW
Ross Isham Hinshaw, 77, of 9717 Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp, died Monday (11-25-2002) at Britthaven of Guilford, Greensboro.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday (11-29-2002) at Rocky River Friends Cemetery, Siler City, with Rev. David Hobson officiating.
A native of Alamance County, Mr. Hinshaw was a retired cabinet maker for Hinshaw Cabinet Shop. He was a member of Rocky River Friends Meeting and was a member of the Sunday School class.
He is survived by his son, Henry Lee Hinshaw of Snow Camp; and brothers, Floyd C. Hinshaw of Snow Camp, Jack Hinshaw of Mebane, and Virgil Hinshaw of Burlington.
SAMUEL ROSS VESTAL
Samuel Ross Vestal, 78, of 3687 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City, died Thursday (11-28-2002) at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday (12-1-2002) at Rocky River Friends Meeting, Siler City, with David Hobson and Hospice Chaplain Jan Clark officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Chatham County, Mr. Vestal was a World War II Air Force veteran and was a member of Staley United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise York Vestal; sons, Sammy L. Vestal and Wesley R. Vestal, both of Siler City; brothers, James Vestal and Albert Vestal, both of Siler City; sisters, Frances V. Barker and Sue V. Mendenhall, both of Siler City; and three grandchildren.

WILLIAM M. ELLIS, JR.
William M. Ellis, Jr., 37, of Bynum, died Friday (11-29-2002) following a brief illness at Durham Veterans Administration Hospital.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday (12-1-2002) in the Bynum United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A native of Chatham County, Mr. Ellis was a graduate of Northwood. He served as a LCpl. In the United States Marine Corps from 1983-87. He was employed in the hotel industry and held management positions in hotels throughout the United States and the Virgin Islands, most recently with Emerald Pointe Resort and Conference Center at Lake Lanier Islands, Georgia, where he served as Director of Purchasing.
He is survived by his mother, Florence Ellis of Bynum; sisters, Pam Ellis of Pittsboro, Pat Scott of Bynum, Amy Holdford of Wendell, and Angie Ellis of Sanford; three nephews and one niece.
SHIRLEY J. BROWN
Shirley Jones Brown, 71, of 6796 Carl Brady Road, Bennett, died Thursday (11-28-2002) at the Lexington Hospital in Lexington.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday (12-1-2002) at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Chaney officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of the Fall Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, David Brown of the home; daughter, Susan Thomason of Lexington; brothers, Wendle Jones of Ramseur, Harold Jones of Siler City, and Bill Jones of Scottsboro, AL; sister, Doris Jones Gilliland of Siler City; half-brother, Wiley Jones of Siler City; and three grandchildren.
JOSE RUBEN PEREZ
Jose Ruben Perez, 76, of Pittsboro, died Monday (11-25-2002).
A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Saturday (11-30-2002) at St. Julia Catholic Church with interment following in Chatham Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Dominga S. Perez; sons, Ricardo, Luis, and Geraldo, all of Pittsboro, and Carlos Perez of Durham; daughters, Leticia Perez of Pittsboro, Gabriella Perez of Carboro, Marta Perez and Lourdes Perez, both of Mexico; brothers, Jaime and Javier Perez, and sister, Emma Perez, all of Mexico; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
ROY VANCE WICKER, JR.
Roy Vance Wicker, Jr., 66, of 366 R.C. Overman Road, Siler City, died Sunday (12-1-2002) at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (12-3-2002) at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City with burial following in Flint Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery, Siler City.
A native of Alamance County, Mr. Wicker was a retired general construction worker and a member of Flint Ridge United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lorena Eastridge Wicker of Siler City; son, Maurice A. Wicker of Siler City; brother, David Earl Wicker of Siler City; and one grandson.
MILDRED P. HERRING
Mildred Parks Herring, 76, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, died Friday (11-29-2002) at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday (12-1-2002) at the First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach with Rev. Kenneth B. Timmerman, Rev. Scarlett Tanner and Rev. Tom Brittain officiating. Burial followed at Southeastern Memorial Gardens.
A native of Gibson, Mrs. Herring was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach where she served as president of the United Methodist Women, assistant leader of the Garren-Reinhardt Circle, and former teacher of the M.D. Moore Sunday School class. She was a retired school teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Herring; son, Everette Eugene (Gene) Bryant, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, daughters, Vicki B. Burke of Jacksonville, FL, and Susan B. Hafuer of Lynchburg, VA; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, Elvin Parks of Greensboro; and sister, Margaret Rankin of Durham.

HERBERT M. STOUT
Herbert Mack Stout, 89, of 7558 Old Siler City Road, Ramseur, died Monday (12-2-2002).
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (12-5-2002) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Boyd officiating. Burial will be at Holly Spring Friends Meeting Cemetery.
A native of Randolph County, Mr. Stout was a farmer and retired from Gold Kist Hatchery. He was a member of Deep River Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Sue Gilmore of Ramseur; and sisters, Edna Craven and Virginia Overman, both of Siler City.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur.
KENNETH ARNOLD FOWLER
Kenneth Arnold Fowler, 38, of Cary, passed away with his family by his side, Sunday, November 24, 2002.
A funeral mass was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Rd., Cary. Interment followed at Raleigh Memorial Park.
Ken was born in Riner, VA and was a graduate of Auburn High School in Riner, VA. He also graduated with a business and marketing degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Ken had an entrepreneurial spirit and was involved in radio advertising, owning a limousine service, Interactive Concierge and recently Citysearch.com.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nelson Price and Ethel Bessie Mabry Fowler; Claude Willis and Ollie Mae Peak Dalton.
He is survived by his wife, Suguna Kothapalli Fowler of Cary; children, Sean Kenneth and Malli Kothapalli Fowler both of the home; parents, Arnold Nelson and Mary Frances Fowler of Riner, VA; in-laws, Dr. Rao and Lakshmi Kothapalli of Siler City; sisters, Donna Wadsworth and husband, Lin, of Tappahannock, VA; Brenda Light of Christiansburg, VA; Joyce Black and husband, Steve, of Radford, VA; Carol White and husband, Roger, of Dublin, VA; Rebecca Partin and husband, Steven, of Radford, VA; and Mary Hughes and husband, David, of Radford, VA; brother-in-law, Mark Kothapalli of Cary; sister-in-law, Radhika Kothapalli of Cary; four nephews, five nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

JEANNE G. JENKS HOLDER
Jeanne G. Jenks Holder, age 81, affectionately known as "Mama Jean," of 498 Willie Duncan Rd., Siler City, died Monday evening, November 25, 2002. Jeanne was born in Brussels, Belgium, and will be remembered fondly for her "spunk" and her wit.
A service celebrating her life and homegoing was held on Saturday, November 30 at 11 a.m. in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. O. Phillip Qualls officiating. Burial followed in the Olive Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her first husband, Mallie G. Jenks in 1989.
She is survived by her husband, Dayton Holder of the home; four daughters, Claudine Wilson of Apex, Phoebe Jenks of Pittsboro, Doris J. Bowman of Asheboro, and Jacqueline J. Bowen of Rougemont; two sons, Mallie J. Jenks of Apex, and Michael G. Jenks of Siler City; twelve grandchildren; Vickie Burns, Frankie Wilson, Tabatha Wilson, Rhonda Strother, Augustine Whitfield, John E. Whitfield, Jr., Jennifer L. Bowen, Matthew D. Bowen, Andy Jenks, William Jenks, Christina Jenks, and Michelle Nichole Jenks; and three great-grandchildren.
