EFFIE PAULINE FARRELL
Effie Pauline Farrell, 75, of Pittsboro died Monday (10-04-2004) in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, (10-06-2004) at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ, with Rev. Kelly Shifflet and Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Chatham County, a member of Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ and retired from Chatham Mills.
Survivors include two brothers, Lewis Farrell of Pittsboro and Wade Farrell of Durham.
CHARLES W. COCKMAN
Charles Winfield Cockman, 63, of Ramseur died Saturday, (10-02-2004) at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, (10-05-2004) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Turner officiating. Burial followed at Parks Cross Roads Christian Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Chatham County and a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mearion Wiggins Cockman of the home; son, Chris Cockman of Ramseur; daughters, Leisa L. Cockman of Greensboro, Pam Ringquist of Mooresville; sister, Shirley Caviness of Ramseur; and two grandchildren.

HOWARD NEAL TESTERMAN
Howard Neal Testerman, 53, of Asheboro died Wednesday (09-29-2004) at Baptist Hospital West, Knoxville, Tenn.
Funeral services were held Sunday (10-03-2004) at 2 p.m. at Mt. View Independent Methodist Church in Asheboro with Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Testerman was a native of Grayson County, Va. He was self-employed as owner/operator of Zooland Sandblasting for 24 years and a member of Mt. View Independent Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Pierce Testerman; sons, Rodney Testerman, Jeremy N. Testerman, both of Asheboro, Timothy Chad Testerman of the home; mother, Florence Testerman of Goldston; three granddaughters; sister, Martha Testerman of Pinehurst; brothers, Dale Testerman, Sam Testerman, both of Siler City, Mike Testerman of Glendon, Charles Testerman of Carthage.

DR. CORODON S. FULLER, JR.
Dr. Corodon "Don" Fuller, Jr., 82, of Lithia Springs Road, Moravian Falls died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at his home.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Dr. N. Nelson Granade, Jr. officiating. Burial with Masonic rites by Wilkesboro Liberty Lodge #45 was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Dr. Fuller was born in Foxboro, MA, April 16, 1922, to Corodon Spaulding Fuller, Sr. and Helen Bristol Fuller. He served in the US Army during World War II. Dr. Fuller was a member of Pittsboro Methodist Church in Pittsboro.
Dr. Fuller was a graduate of Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. He was the Physician Health Director for the Chatham County Health Department. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, and North Wilkesboro with a 50-year membership. He served as president of the Pittsboro Kiwanis Club. Dr. Fuller was also a member of the North Wilkesboro Elks Club, the North Carolina Zoological Society. He served on the board of the NC Red Cross for 10 years. He was a 60-year member of Saint Alban’s Lodge in Foxboro, MA. He was also a 33-degree York Rite Mason. Dr. Fuller was a life member of the American Philatelic Society and the American and North Carolina Medical Association.
A sister, Gertrude F. Florini and two brothers, Bennet Fuller and Clarence Fuller preceded Dr. Fuller in death.
Dr. Fuller is survived by his wife, Louise Day Fuller of the home; two sons, Corodon Spaulding Fuller, III of East Northport, NY, William Thomas Fuller of Taylors, SC; three grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Lowe of Moravian Falls, Beth Waugh Fuller of Taylors, SC; step son, Clyde Miller Waugh, Jr. of Moravian Falls; six step grandchildren; one brother, John C. Fuller and wife, Janet of Norfork, MA.

LYNDA JOHNSON MOBLEY
Lynda Carol Johnson Mobley, 60, of Burlington died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at her home.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Rives Chapel Baptist Cemetery, Siler City, with Rev. Larry Soblotne officiating.
Mrs. Mobley was a native of Chatham County, attended Campbell University and Meredith College.
Survivors include father, Jesse R. Johnson and mother, Emma Fields Johnson of Siler City; sister, Joanne Fox of Siler City, brothers, J. Lynn Johnson and wife, Leigh of Greensboro, W. Ray Johnson and wife, Jenny of Siler City; nieces and nephews: Sherry and Kenny Davis, Craig and Tammy Fox, Kim and Stephen Scott, Tami and Charles Mullis, Tim Johnson; and special friends, Martha and Darrell McKinney.
JOSEPH LEE MUELLER, JR.
Joseph (Joe) Lee Mueller, Jr., 80, of Siler City died Monday, October 4, 2004 at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Siler City with Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Tyson's Creek Baptist Church in Bear Creek with military rites.
Joseph Lee Meuller, Jr. went to be with his Savior peacefully in his sleep while at Chatham Hospital Monday, October 4, 2004. He was a native of White Plains, KY but he always said his heart was in El Paso, Texas. He was retired from the United States Army where he served in Japan, Korea, Germany and the Phillipines. Joe was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star.
Joe made his home in Chatham County where he served as District Commander of the Boy Scouts of America under the Occoneechee Council. Joe was retired from Kellwood Manufacturing and Kayser Roth Corporation where he served as an Industrial Engineer. Refusing to accept retirement, Joe was the owner-operator of Mueller's Transportation, operating a cab service and then a transit for dialysis and mental health.
He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was an assistant Sunday school teacher and founder of the Men's Breakfast.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leroy C. and Jeanette O. Mercier.
A devoted husband, loving and caring father and friend to many, Joe is survived by the following: his wife, Frankie Cockman Mueller, Siler City; sons, Terry Mueller, China Grove, Jeff Mueller and Bryant Kidd, both of Siler City; daughters, Judy M. Martin of Burgaw, Becky Jordan of Siler City; grandchildren, Bryan Jordan, Jayme Jordan, Robert Dixon, Courtney Mueller, Ashli Rhiner, Cathy Smith, Melinda Rau, Joseph Mueller, Emilee Mueller; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 7 to 9 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2004 at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City. At other times, at the family home.

ANNIE JEAN WATSON PALMER
Annie Jean Watson Palmer, 71, of Pittsboro died Wednesday (09-15-2004) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday (09-19-2004) at Union Grove AME Zion Church, with Pastor Rev. Jace Cox officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of Union Grove AME Zion Church where she was a member of the Stewardess Board and Senior Choir.
Survivors include: daughters, Denise Covington, Joann Bethea; son, John West Palmer, Jr.; brother, Norman Watson of Durham: sisters, Christine Peoples, Evelyn Scurlock, Elizabeth Reaves, Mildred Brooks; Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
WILLIE PAGE MONROE
Willie Page Monroe, 61, of Pittsboro died Friday (09-17-2004).
Mr. Monroe retired from Southern States with 33 years of service.
Survivors include sons, Christopher Lynn Monroe, Sr., Willie Wayne Monroe; sisters, Mary Lee Monroe, Constance Watson; and six grandchildren.
MARGIE GRIFFIN BEAL
Mrs. Margie Griffin Beal died Saturday, (09-25-2004) at Rosehaven Personal Care Home, Grovetown, Ga.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (09-28-2004) at Meronies Methodist Church Cemetery in Bonlee.
Survivors include sons, George F. Beal, Bonlee, Clarence E. Beal, Elizabeth City; daughters, Peggy J. Owens, Taylors, S.C., Brenda A. Beal, Greensboro, Linda B. Turner, Augusta, Ga.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
CLYDE WATSON
Mr. Clyde Watson, 82, of Siler City died Sunday, (09-19-2004) at Sunbridge Nursing Facility.
Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, (09-29-2004) at Glovers Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Siler City.
No immediate survivors.
MATTIE BROOKS ELKINS TILLMAN
Mattie Brooks Elkins Tillman, 83, of Goldston died Friday (09-24-2004) at SunBridge Care Facilities in Siler City.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday (09-26-2004) at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Tillman was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker. She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and for several years was Church Clerk.
Survivors include step-son, Robert Tillman of Bear Creek; and four grandchildren.

RICHARD V. (Pete) POE
Richard V. (Pete) Poe, a 33-year resident of Portola Valley, CA, died September 18, 2004, at home from cancer after a brief hospitalization. He was 66.
Born in Siler City, North Carolina, on August 28, 1938, he nurtured a childhood desire to live in California where he visited during a cross-country trip when he was 12. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Siler City High. He received a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering in 1960 from NC State, and immediately joined the General Electric Company where he had a 33-year career, retiring in 1993. Throughout his GE career, he moved his family to several locations, arriving in California in 1965, and worked in the physics analysis of reactor cores, as well as the design, safety, licensing, program management, and marketing of equipment and services for commercial nuclear power plants with frequent travels to Japan and Europe. In 1968 he received an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University under the Honors Cooperative Program. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and a longtime member of the American Nuclear Society.
Following his retirement, his enduring passion for travel led him and his wife to all parts of the world, searching for art museums and restaurants and sharing his notes with many friends. He was an enthusiastic member of the Stanford Buck/Cardinal Club, Vintners Club of San Francisco, Humanities West, and many art museums. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and had many friends around the world.
His wife of 45 years and best friend, Carolyn B. Poe; daughter Julie Menge and son-in-law Walter Menge of Elk Grove, California; son Mitchell Poe and daughter-in-law Stephanie Poe of Bellevue, Washington; grandsons Brandon and Jonathan Menge; brother-in-law Dan C. Boger and wife Gail Z. Boger of Monterey, California, and their children Gretchen and Gregory survive him. He is a descendent of the Lucius James Brooks and Cary Chervis Poe families of Siler City.
A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held in Genoa, Italy, at Santa Chiara on the Mediterranean coast, a place he treasured and visited often. Memorials may be sent to Humanities West in San Francisco, California, www.humanitieswest.org.
ANN M. PRESNELL
Mrs. Ann Moses Presnell, 72 of Goldsboro died Monday (09-27-2004) at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, (09-29-2004) at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel in Goldsboro with Rev. David Harvin officiating. Burial will follow in Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Siler City.
Mrs. Presnell was a native of Chatham County, a school teacher and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Guy Presnell; son, G. Michael Presnell of Harrisburg; and two grandchildren.
