SHARITY (KATHYANN) FAITH ROSS

KathyAnn, passed 14 August, 2011 with her mother and sisters by her side at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. after a long battle with cancer.

KathyAnn was born 8 May, 1958 in Chatham County. She served in the United States Army for five years with an Honorable Discharge. She attended Howard University in Washington, DC. KathyAnn resided in Washington, DC for many years.

She enjoyed reading her Bible and sharing her thoughts and prayers for others on paper.

Her interest was advocating for those who didn’t have a voice. She worked as a volunteer for many civil causes.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Thomas Currie, Sr. and her brother, Paul Thomas Currie, Jr.

KathyAnn is survived by her mother, Mary Ella Alston; her daughter, Victoria Mary-Katherine Currie; her son, Hunter Petit; her sisters, Tammie Currie, LaDona Currie-Andrews; and a niece, Austin R. Andrews.

Arrangements are with Sanford Carter Funeral Home, Hinesville, GA.

OLLIE FRANCES PHILLIPS GAINES

Ollie Frances Phillips Gaines, 102, of Bear Creek died Saturday, (08-20-2011) at her home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, (08-23-2011) at 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Kirk Parrish, Rev. Darrell Garner and Rev. David Hicks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Gaines was born July 23, 1909, the daughter of William Atlas and Losie Cox Phillips. She was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker. She was the oldest member of Bear Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and sang in the choir. Ollie was preceded in death by her husband, Iley M. Gaines and two grandsons, Timmy Gaines and Bill Phillips.

She is survived by her daughter, Louise G. Gilchrist of Bear Creek; sons Ray Phillips of Bear Creek, Lester Gaines of Siler City, Ricky Gaines of Bear Creek; sister, Lottie Ellington of Snow Camp; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grand-children.

Memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 1414 E. Eleventh Street, Siler City, NC 27344.

LONZO RICHARD MARSH

Mr. Lonzo Richard Marsh, 62, of Siler City died Friday (08-12-2011) at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (08-16-2011) at Wesley Chapel F.C.C., with Rev. Barry R. Gray officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Marsh graduated from Chatham County Schools, served in the U.S. Army, worked at Carolina Poultry and Boise Cascade In Moncure.

Survivors include Sandra Mauldin; son, Wesley Marsh, both of the home; sisters, Mrs. Odessa Person, Mrs. Lyde Cheek, Mrs. Mexie Watson, all of Siler City; brothers, Mr. Ernest Marsh of Siler City and Mr. John Henry March of Pittsboro.

ARTHUR LEE FARRINGTON

Mr. Arthur Lee Farrington, 66, of Pittsboro died Thursday (08-11-2011) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (08-16-2011) at Alston Chapel U.H. Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Farrington was educated in the Alamance and Chatham County Schools. He was a member of Alston Chapel Church, St. Mark Lodge #829, Worshipful Master, Khalif Temple #144 and was past Worthy Patron of St. Thomas Order of the Eastern Star #644.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Harris Farrington of the home; sons, Frederick “Bo” of the home, Kelvin Harris; sisters, Ada Thomas of Brooklyn, NY, Erma Farrington of Pittsboro, Carolyn Farrington of Durham; and one granddaughter.

IONIE TAYLOR PUGH

Mrs. Ionie Taylor Pugh, 85, of Pittsboro died Saturday (08-13-2011) at Laurels of Chatham.

Funeral services were held Wednesday (08-17-2011) at 1 p.m. at Mitchell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Kenneth Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Pugh was a native of Chatham County and a member of Mitchell Chapel Church.

Survivors include son, Frank Taylor; daughter, Mary Thomas, both of Pittsboro; sisters, Bernice Scurlock of Pittsboro, Fay Crump of Yonkers, NY; brothers, J.D. Taylor; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

BOBBY F. DUNN
June 6, 1941 - May 31, 2013

Robbins - Mr. Bobby F. Dunn 71, of 1640 Wilson Road, Robbins passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Pine Mountain Friends Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Joey Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Dunn was a Moore County native and was owner and operator of Bobby Dunn’s Garage. He loved restoring old cars and showing them. Mr. Dunn also farmed, but one of his greatest joys in life was his family, especially the grandchildren.

Mr. Dunn is survived by wife, Lillian Johnson Dunn of the home; sons, Gregory Dunn and wife, Robin, of Robbins, Ricky Dunn and wife, Kenne, of Ramseur, Keith Dunn of Robbins; grandchildren, Dakota, Dalton, Savannah, Caleb, Zachary, Sam, Joseph, Julie, John; sisters, Linda D. Hunt and Barbara D. Lamb, both of Asheboro.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208 and other times at his home.

Joyce-Brady Chapel is serving the Dunn family.

George M. Brady

November 22, 1958 - June 1, 2013

Bennett - George M. Brady passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his home in Bennett. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Pine Mountain Friends Church in Bennett with Rev. Joey Greene, Rev. David Thomas, and Rev. Larry Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Moore County, Mr. Brady was the son of the late Roland W. Brady. He was predeceased by his loving brother, Jerry W. Brady.

Mr. Brady was a member of Pine Mountain Friends Church where he operated sound equipment and loved being a part of the congregation. He also loved horses, traveling, and fishing. He was a hard worker, and had determination to do any task, no matter how difficult.

Mr. Brady is survived by his mother, Myrtis Brady of Carthage; sisters, Cindy Hancock and husband, Mack, of Bear Creek, Wanda Brady of Bear Creek, and Rolanda Phillips and husband, Mike, of Carthage; brothers, Brad Brady of Bennett, and Donald Brady and wife, Cheryl of Bennett. He is also survived by 7 nieces and 3 nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 3, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham Street, Bennett, NC 27208.

Memorials may be directed to Pine Mountain Friends Church, 268 Phillips Road, Bennett, NC 27208.

Oma Lee Beal

May 22, 1926 - June 3, 2013

Oma Lee Beal passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at Genesis Care & Rehab in Siler City. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Allmon & Dr. Ronnie Chaney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Chatham County, Ms. Beal was the daughter of the late Henry Thomas Lambert and Addie Jones Lambert. She was predeceased by her husband, Tracy Beal and sisters, Mamie Phillips and Maggie Neal.

Ms. Beal was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She loved the Lord first and foremost, and loved to read the Bible. She was a retired chicken farmer, and loved gardening and growing flowers. She was known for her love of sewing.

She is survived by daughters, Linda Mangum of Asheboro, Laura Luck(Ralph Allred) of Asheboro, and Elizabeth Pilson of Bear Creek and son, Jerry Beal and wife, Joanne of Bear Creek. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and nephews Roger and Roland Phillips.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 4, 2013 from 6:00-8:00, at the Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett.

The family will be meeting at the home of Jerry Beal, 8321 NC highway 42, Bear Creek, and the home of Ralph Allred, 759 Britt Ave., Asheboro.

Virginia Cox Smith

September 11, 1928 - June 2, 2013

Mrs. Virginia Cox Smith, 84, of Bennett, N.C., died Monday, June 2, 2013 at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 4:00p.m. at Bennett Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, N.C.

A native of Caswsell County, she was born September 11, 1928. She worked many years as secretary for the Randolph County Board of Education.

Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of Bennett Baptist Church. During her life, she dedicated a great deal of time to the church, serving as organist, clerk, historian, teaching Sunday School and many other areas of the church where her talents were needed. She will be remembered also for her lifetime zeal for learning and helping others with their education.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Clyde J. Smith, Sr..

She is survived by her son, Clyde Jennings Smith, Jr. and wife Susie of Rockingham, N.C., One grandson, Clyde J. Smith, III and one granddaughter, Mary Susan Smith both of Wake Forest, N.C.. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bennett Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 91 Bennett, N.C. 27208.

Thomas Ray Nall
July 16, 1934 - June 3, 2013

Thomas Ray Nall age 78, passed away Monday June 3, 2013 at First Health Hospice & Palliative Care in Pinehurst. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Eagle Springs with Dr. Neal Jackson, and Rev. Billy Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Moore County, Mr. Nall was the son of the late John N. Nall and Louella McNeill Nall. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debra Kennedy; sisters, Betty Jean Davis and Frances Rush; brothers, Ralph, Roland, and Roger Nall.

He was a retired superintendent at Springs Mills in Biscoe. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Eagle Springs, where he had faithfully served as Deacon, Secretary and Treasurer. He was also a member of Elise Lodge #555 in Robbins. He was also a member of the Good Ol’ Boys Club in Biscoe. Mr. Nall loved to Camp and spend those special times with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Flossie Sanders Nall; daughters Dianne N. Sheffield (Kenneth) of Eagle Springs, Donna N. Moore (Todd) of Eagle Springs, Dorenda N. Kidd (Bryan) of Eagle Springs; sister, Mary N. Greene of Seagrove; brother, Richard Nall of Eagle Springs; grandchildren, Chad Williams, Brian Kennedy, Stephen Williams, Daniel Kennedy, Kyle Kidd, Garrett Kidd, and Brianna Sheffield.

The family will receive friends at the home, located at 15269 Highway 24-27 in Eagle Springs, and after the service at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Memorials may be directed to First Health Hospice & Palliative Care, 251 Campground Road, Pinehurst, NC 28370.
