JONATHAN DAVID BARNES WOMBLE
Jonathan David Barnes Womble, 24, of the Deep River Community died Saturday, (12-21-2013) at Central Carolina Hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, (12-24-2013) at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John McNeill presiding, with burial in the family cemetery.

Jay was born in Chatham County, August 4, 1989. He graduated from Lee County High School in 2011.

Survivors include his parents, Arnold Wayne Womble and Sylvia McDaniel Womble of the home; brother, Jacob Womble of the home; sisters, Amanda Hinson of Ft. Bragg, Gabby Womble of the home; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Dorothy Womble of Sanford; and maternal grandparents, David and Janet McDaniel of Siler City.

DORIS ELLEN WISE
Doris Ellen Wise, 73, of Liberty, died Tuesday, (12-24-2013) at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

A graveside service was held Friday, (12-27-2013) at 10 a.m. at Goldston Cemetery with Rev. David King officiating.
Mrs. Wise was born in New York City on September 10, 1940, the daughter of Howard and Wilma (Garner) Wise. She was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. Doris had been a college professor, owned and operated “Pack Rats Attic”, an antique shop, and also had been employed as a computer analyst with AT&T.

There are no immediate survivors.

GUNNELL BAIN MAPLES
Gunnell Bain Maples, 82, of Siler City, passed away Wednesday, (12-18-2013).

Funeral services were held Sunday, (12-22-2013), at 2 p.m. at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev. Charles Lindquist officiating. Burial followed at Harmony Baptist Church.

Mrs. Maples was a resident of Siler City, born in Tway, Kyto Anderson and Mae Myers Bain. She had a long career in retail, with SS Kress Department Store, Big K and Hill’s Department Stores, and she was manager of Superior Knits Fabric Store in Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Ernest Maples, a sister, Pauline Bain Philpot, brothers, Eugene, Anderson, Jr., Fred, Richard Bain, and daughters, Stephnie and Beckie Maples.

She is survived by brothers, Billy Bain and Jimmy Bain; sons, Max Maples of Siler City, Rodney Scott Maples of Rockford, TN; daughters, Debbie Guimond of Avon, CT, Shanda Hardin of Ramseur, Kimberly Harbison of Maryville, TN; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

JAMES SAMUEL FUNDERBURK
James Samuel Funderburk, 84, of Sanford, died Thursday, (12-26-2013), at Fox Hollow Assisted Living in Moore County.

The funeral was held Saturday, (12-28-2013), at 2 p.m., at Barbecue Presbyterian Church with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Mr. Funderburk was born March 22, 1929, in Pageland, SCto the late Samuel P. Funderburk and Sulee McManus Funderburk. He was preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, and his wife, Alberta Cameron Funderburk. He was a former tobacco farmer and served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Funderburk Morris of Sanford, Shelia Dianne Funderburk of Sanford; brothers, Donnie Clinton Funderburk of Sanford, Robert “Bill” Funderburk of Pinehurst, Clarence Elliott Funderburk of Southern Pines; a sister Martha Funderburk Godfrey of Hubert and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moore County Hospice, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst, NC 28374.

LUCILLE DARK JOHNSON
Lucille Dark Johnson entered her eternal heavenly home on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the age of 89. Born on February 8, 1924, she was the daughter of Walter West Dark and Mattie (Huntington) Dark. A lifelong resident of Chatham County, she was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church and worked for most of her life in retail sales and as a bookkeeper before spending several years as a caregiver. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 66 years, Samuel Oliver Johnson; brothers, Virgil Dark, Wrenn Dark and her twin brother, Bryant Dark; sisters, Mae Boling and Betty Smith; and a grandson, Jeffrey Johnson.

She is survived by one son, Edward L. Johnson and wife, Vickie of Siler City; two daughters, Linda Kay Johnson of Siler City, Carol J. Deaton and husband Don of Siler City; grandchildren, Michael Johnson and wife Carolina of Charlotte, Rynn Nicks and husband Luke of Snow Camp, Haley Cox and husband Steven of Coleridge, Jill Oates and husband Chad of Siler City, Karen Asbill and husband Darren of Erect; great-grandchildren, Jase Glenn Nicks, Lawson Gregory Cox, Nicolas Samuel Johnson, Brady Oliver Nicks, Camden Marshall Cox, Graham Michael Johnson, Emily Taylor Oates, Amber Raye Oates, Morgan Leanne Asbill, Jacob Max Asbill; sister-in-law, Polly Johnson; and devoted caregivers Wilda Talley and Linda Martindale.

The family received friends Monday, December 23, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. At other times, they will be at the home of her son, Edward Johnson, 1889 Wrenn Smith Road, Siler City.

Services were held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Brush Creek Baptist Church, 5345 Airport Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Sam Talley and Rev. Alan Stanley officiating. Burial was in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361-0338.

NANCY MOSS
Mrs. Nancy Moss, age 65, of Sanford, died Thursday, (12-19-2013) at her home.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

MARGARET EMMA JAMIR
Margaret Emma Jamir, 95, of Siler City died Monday, (12-16-2013) at her residence.

She was a native of Adrian, Michigan, a retired nurse and school teacher and a member of the Baha’I faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jamir, son, Vinson Jamir and parents, Arnold and Mary Carnahan Yeutter.

Survivors include daughters, Sally Jamir (Kolins) of Pittsboro, Karla Jamir (Glist) of Alexandria, VA; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 12 p.m. Saturday, (12-21-2013) at Graham Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice or to UNICEF.

TIMOTHY CHARLES WOODELL
MonteagleTN- Timothy Charles “Tim” Woodell, 56, died Saturday, (12-07-2013) at Golden Living Center in Winchester, TN.

A native of Randolph County, he was a twenty-year veteran of the Chatham County Rescue Squad. He was a member of Monteagle Church of Christ. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorthy Woodell, his wife, Sandy Brooks Woodell; and his twin-sister, Tammy.

Surviving are brothers, Darrell Woodell of Surfside Beach, S.C, and John Woodell of Asheboro.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. Follow John on Facebook for details.

CARMEN DALE BUIE COLLINS
Carmen Dale Buie Collins, 43, of Broadway, died Thursday, (12-19-2013) at Central Carolina Hospital.

She was born in Lee County on May 18, 1970. Mrs. Collins had worked with the Lee County Sheriff’s office as a dispatcher.

She is survived by her husband Dwayne Collins of the home; her parents, Van Buie and Janice Tart Buie of Broadway; sons, Darren Collins of Sanford, Carl Collins, Colby Collins, both of the home; a sister, Kelly Buie Jones of Sanford; and one grandchild.

The funeral was held at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church, Saturday (12-21-2013) at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doug Houston presiding. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

SHANE ISLEY

Shane Isley, 35, of Liberty passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at his home.

Shane was the manager of S&H Oil Company in Siler City and was a member of the Liberty Town Council. He enjoyed the game of golf, singing with his band and serving the town and he was active with the Parks and Recreation Department coaching youth sports.

Shane was loved by the entire community and all that knew him. He was a loving and committed father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He brought joy to all those who knew him, especially his son, Maximus.

A memorial service was held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel.

Shane was preceded in death by his father, Spurgeon H. Isley, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Archie Phillips and paternal grandparents, Spurgeon, Sr. and Nina Isley.

Surviving is his wife, Treasure Long Isley; sons, Maximus and Austin; mother, Pamela Phillips Isley; sister, Jessica Brown, brother-in-law, Ian, niece, Nina; maternal grandmother, Betty Phillips and loving in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions may be made to the Maximus Golden College Fund, c/o Fidelity Bank, PO Box 278, Liberty, NC 27298.

Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty is honored to serve the Isley family.

BILLY “BILL” CURTIS WALTERS
Billy “Bill” Curtis Walters, 69, of Central Avenue, Siler City died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City.

Mr. Walters was born in Chatham County on October 27, 1944, the son of George Mabern and Sammie Lou (Fields) Walters. He was a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church and a veteran of the Army National Guard. Mr. Walters worked for Covil Insulation in Greenville, NC and retired from Siler City Siding Company, a home improvement business that he co-owned for 21 years. Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and helping people. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Keith Walters and step-daughter, Daphne Forster.

He is survived by his fiancee’, Linda Moore Forster of Siler City; one sister, Bonnie Walters Davis and husband Henry of Siler City; four brothers, Wayne Walters and wife Patricia of Bonlee, Bennie Walters and wife Trudy of Siler City, Ed Walters and wife Brenda of Bear Creek, Cecil Walters and wife Shelia of Siler City; step-daughter, Andrea Smith and husband Dean of Siler City; eight nieces, five nephews and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler city, NC.

The funeral was held Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Chance Walters and Rev. Marc Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

SANDY MOON-BLOXSOM
Sandy Moon-Bloxsom, 71, of Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Siler City died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City.

Sandywas born in Alamance County on November 22, 1942, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (McPherson) Little. She was a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church where she had served as treasurer. She worked for Levelor Company in collections and on the family farm, raising chickens and beef cows. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, going to the beach and spending time with her grandchildren. Sandy was an active supporter of The Silk Hope Ruritan Club, especially the annual Old Fashion Farmers Day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry R. Moon and her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Bob Bloxsom; two daughters, Angelia D. Moon and husband Dan Bell of Raleigh, Suzette Moon Spence and husband Todd of El Paso, TX; one sister, Linda Crawley and husband Calvin of Graham; grandchildren, Danneale Bell, Victoria Bell, Daniel Bell and Logan Spence; sisters-in-law, Sandy Parham, Myrtle Phillips, and Debbie Brown.

The family received friends Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City.

The funeral was held Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, 5016 Silk Hope-Gum Spring Road, Pittsboro with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating. Burial followed in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery, Saxapahaw.
