HOWARD CALDWELL
Howard Caldwell 77, of Siler City died Saturday, (01-19-2013) at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation Center.

No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Caldwell was born April 6, 1935, the son of Lee and Susie (Sweeden) Caldwell. Howard was a native of Chatham County and had worked in the poultry industry in the sanitizing department.

He is survived by his sisters Judy Lineberry of Siler City, Ann Worley Roberts of Weaverville; brothers, Walter Francis Caldwell and Charles Caldwell, both of Siler City.

JAMES CRAWFORD, LANE, SR.
Mr. James Crawford Lane, Sr., 87, of Pittsboro, died Saturday, (01-19-2013) at his home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (01-26-2013) at Bynum United Methodist Church with Pastor Gina Barrow presiding. Military honors will be offered at the conclusion of the service.

Mr. Lanewas born in Vass, November 16, 1925, the son of Benjamin Franklin Lane and Eleecy Stutts Lane. He served our country in the US Navy during World War II, and was the owner/operator of Lane & Clegg Body Shop. A former Boy Scout leader, he was a member of the Bynum Ruritan Club, and Bynum United Methodist Church, where he had served as a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Whitaker Lane; sons, Jimmy Lane and Douglas Lane, both of Pittsboro; daughter, Susan Lane of Sanford; sisters, Johnsie Gaines of Siler City, Eloise Todd of West Virginia, and Peggy Holshauser of Gulf; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family for a reception at the Bynum Ruritan Club building following the service.

Memorials may be sent to UNC Hospice, PO Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Arrangements are under the care of Hall – Wynne funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro.

FRANKIE MAE GLOSSON
Frankie Mae Glosson, 81, died Sunday (01-18-2013).

A service of remembrance was held Friday (01-20-2013) at 2 p.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church.

Mrs. Glosson was the daughter of the late Henry and Sarah Campbell. She was also preceded in death by sisters Maude, Maxine, Peggy, and husbands, Lee Triplett and Franklin Glosson.

Her sister, Dorthy Hartley survives, as well as five children, Carol Paisley, Kenneth Triplett, Ronald Triplett, Lynn Rich, Tim Glosson; nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

ROCHELLE WILLIAMS WALKER
Rochelle Williams Walker, 88, died Friday, (01-18-2013) at Parkview Retirement Home in Sanford.

Funeral services were held Sunday, (01-20-2013), at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gilbert McDowell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Walker was born in Lee County. She retired from W. Koury Company, Carnes Corporation and Wal-Mart. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was a youth leader for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tan L. Walker; parents, Richard Wilton and Leacy Joyner Williams; brothers, Wilbur, Herbert, Barden, Joyner Williams and sisters, Annie Stone and Florene White.

Survivors include a brother, Richard M. Williams of Concord; sisters, Pauline Cox of Sanford, Frances Spivey of Sanford, Clara Dean and Eula Belle Dickens of Broadway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 5422 St. Andrews Church Rd, Sanford, NC 27332.

ANN POOLE KIRKMAN SMITH
Ann Poole Kirkman Smith, 74, of West Third Street, Siler City died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Mrs. Smith was born in Randolph County on January 25, 1938, the daughter of Ray and Inez (Cain) Poole. She was of the Baptist Faith. Ann had worked as a waitress at the Copper Penny and Brownie Lu restaurants. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Smith; one daughter, Debbie Johnson and fiance’, Rick Lehman of Newcomers Town, OH; son, Gary Kirkman and wife, Margaret of Goldston; three sisters, Jean Cheek and husband, Charles of Greensboro, Denise Watkins and husband, Gary of China Grove, Pam Kolln of Randleman; and grandsons, Justin Johnson and Paxton Kirkman.

The family received friends Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. A memorial service was held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patrick Fuller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.

MICHAEL EDWARD MOODY
Michael Edward Moody, 60, of Sanford, passed away on January 19, 2013 at his home after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mr. Moody was born December 28, 1952 in Guilford County, NC to the late Charlie and Mary Moody. He had a true, love for baseball. Michael was also a member of Cumnock Baptist Church. He was employed with JT Davenport and Sons for many years. He will be missed by his family that he loved so much.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Holt Moody; three daughters, Angie Moody Stone and husband Andy, Jennifer Moody, Jessica Moody Cox and husband Shawn, all of Sanford; one brother, Howard Moody and wife Teresa; three grandchildren, Austin Stone, Andy Stone, Jr. and Colton Cox.

A visitation was held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Rives Chapel Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1836 Doctors Drive, Sanford, NC 27330 or Cumnock Baptist Church, 477 Cumnock Road Sanford, NC 27330.

Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford handled the arrangements.

JESSIE THRIFT LINDLEY
Jessie Thrift Lindley, 84, of Goldsboro passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family received friends following the service and other times at the home of her daughter, Dawn Crumpler. Graveside services were held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.

Mrs. Lindley was born in Chatham County and retired from Belk Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Thrift; a brother, Everett Thrift; sisters, Elsie Burke, Thelma Poole and Colleen Petty.

She is survived by her husband, Wilfred Daffron Lindley of 62 years; daughters, Pamela Bryant and husband, Nick of Kinston, Dawn Crumpler and husband, Steve of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Jason Bryant and wife, Kellan and Will Bryant, all of Kinston, Derek Crumpler of Colorado and Adam Crumpler of Goldsboro; a great-grandson, Conner Bryant of Kinston; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Pam Howard, Pearl Hinson, Shirley Cooksey, Annette Mitchell and Ernestine Hardee.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

GENEVA HUNSAKER METCALF
Mrs. Geneva Hunsaker Metcalf, 70, of Sanford died on Tuesday, (01-08-2013).

The funeral was held at 3:30 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rob Keffer officiating. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mrs. Metcalf was born on April 14, 1942, in Oceana, West Virginia to the late James and Evelyn Brown Hunsaker. She was a well-known artist in the Sanford area.

She is survived by a daughter, Sherry Metcalf House of Franklinton: a son, Ed Metcalf of Apex; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite10, Raleigh, N.C. 27615; or to Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (C.A.R.A.), P.O. Box 2642, Sanford, N.C. 27331.

BOBBY KNOX HOLT
Bobby Knox Holt of Pittsboro died Tuesday (01-08-2013) at UNC Hospital.

A celebration of life service was held Friday, (01-13-2013), at 3 p.m. at Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.

Mr. Holt was born December 19, 1941 in Durhamto James Chesley Holt and Jessie Belle Seymour Holt of Chatham County. He was a tobacco farmer in his early life, and later sold autos in several locations. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Chesley Holt, Jr., and a granddaughter, Savannah Holt.

Surviving is his wife, Donna Lutterloh Holt; a daughter, Lou Holt Byrd; a son, Van Holt; siblings, W. Seymour Holt, Marian Howard “Pete” Holt, Sylvia Butler, Hilda Gardner; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

HOWARD THOMAS “DODE” MARTIN
Howard Thomas “Dode” Martin, 81, of Goldston died Wednesday, (01-09-2013) at Siler City Center.

A graveside service was held Saturday, (01-12-2013) at 2 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Darrell Garner officiating.

Mr. Martin was born in Rockingham County on March 31, 1931, the son of Drewry and Molly (Watkins) Martin. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, and had worked in construction as a brick mason and was a farmer.

Survivors include five sisters, Louise M. Andrews, Margaret M Brown, Margie M. Kivett, all of Siler City, Betty M. Thomas of Greensboro, and Peggy M. Pickett of Kemah, TX.

ROBERT “WAYNE” REYNOLDS
Mr. Robert “Wayne” Reynolds, 52, of Carthage, passed away Tuesday, (01-08-2013) at his home.

A celebration of life was held Thursday, (01-10-2013) at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor David Reynolds officiating.

Waynewas born in Pinehurst on March 31, 1960 to Robert Stoman Reynolds and Anniebell Cook Frye. He had been employed with Ithaca Industries in Robbins and Sanford Contracting. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Stoman Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Stumpf Reynolds of Carthage; daughter, Holly R. Reynolds of Aberdeen; son, R. Chad Reynolds of PA; his mother, Anniebell Cook Frye; sisters, Lisa Volk, Robin Frye, both of Carthage; and brother, Jonathan Frye of Carthage.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.

JOSEPH P. “JOE” COLEMAN
Mr. Joseph P. “Joe” Coleman, 60, of Broadway, died Friday, (01-11-2013), at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Joe was born on May 29, 1952, in Columbus County. He was employed as a Maintenance Engineer for UNC Co-Generation Facilities. Joe also served his country in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lettie and Odell Coleman; brothers, Ross Coleman and James Coleman.

Survivors include his wife Deborah; son, Shane Coleman; one granddaughter, two step-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Mae Simmons, Shirley Long; brother, Richard Coleman, all of Whiteville;.

ELI RONALD “JOHN” LAMBERT
Mr. Eli Ronald “John” Lambert 66, of Robbins passed (01-10-2013) at his home.

Funeral services were held Monday, (01-14-2013) at 2 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Brady officiating. Burial followed at Acorn Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Lambert was a Moore County native and the son of the late Ervin and Mozelle Lambert.

Survivors include brothers, Oscar Lambert, Carvin Lambert, both of Robbins; sisters, Marilynn Jones of Pennsylvania, and Shirley Williams of Seagrove.

CLARA DELOIS ALSTON
Clara Delois Alston, 59, of Pittsboro died Tuesday, (01-08-2013) at her home.

Funeral services were held Friday (01-11-2013) at Alston Chapel United Holy Church with Elder Jerry Powell officiating.

Ms. Alston was a graduate of Northwood High School and UNC Chapel Hill. She worked for Chatham-Lee Credit for 30 years. She was a member of Alston Chapel United Holy Church where she was chairman of the board of trustees and co-chairman of the finance committee.

Survivors include her mother, Leomie Lee; son, Morrison Alston Neville, both of the home; stepchildren, Dana and Veta Neville of Hillsborough; sister, Ella Mae Allen of Pittsboro; brothers, Gene A. Alston of Pittsboro, Pearlie Alston, Jr., and Ernest L. Alston of Fayetteville.
