BETH FOUSHEE NOLES
Mrs. Beth Foushee Noles, 94, of Rock Hill, SC died Saturday, (05-04-2013), at Agape Rehabilitation Center. A graveside memorial service will be held at Buffalo Cemetery on Saturday, (06-01-2013), at 3 p.m.. Mrs. Noles was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mattie Foushee. She was preceded in death by three husbands, John “Jack” Wesley Carter, Daniel Burn Shelly, Sr., Harold James Noles, brothers, James Ormand Foushee and Pressley Moore Foushee. Surviving relatives are her children, Parker W. Carter, Sr., Brenda N. Ronaldson; brothers, Frank Currie Foushee, Ralph Lee Foushee; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

CLARA MAE CHEEK HARRIS
Clara Mae Cheek Harris, 86, of Sanford, died Saturday, (05-25-2013), at her home. Funeral services were held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, (05-28-2013), at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wendell McGee and Col. Charlie Hicks officiating. Burial followed at Meroney United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Harris was born in Chatham County, August 21, 1926, to the late William Spinks Cheek and Mamie Davis Cheek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Clyde Cheek and William Cheek. She was the owner/operator of Wilrick Beauty Shop, and retired from the North Carolina Education System. Surviving relatives include her husband, L. Reid Harris of the home; sons, Lynn R. Harris of Spartanburg, SC, W. Scott Harris of Hilton Head, SC; daughter, Carolyn H. Wood of Virginia Beach, VA; brothers, Ray M. Cheek of Asheboro, Earl Cheek of Cameron; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 203 Hawkins Ave., Sanford, NC 27330 or Community Home Care and Hospice, 809 Wicker Street, Sanford, NC 27330.

LaRUTH C. WHITE
Mrs. LaRuth C. White of Siler City died Wednesday (05-22-2013) at the Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro. Funeral services were held Monday (05-27-2013) at Evans Chapel AME Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. White was a member of Evans Chapel where she served as a deaconess and usher. Surviving are her children, Vernall White, Van White, Stanley White, all of Siler City, Rodney White of Virginia; one sister, Maxie Burnette of Siler City; and several grandchildren.

CREIGHTON TUCKER NALL
Creighton Tucker Nall, infant son of Randy and Laura Nall, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Alamance Regional Hospital, Burlington. He is survived by parents, Randy S. and Laura Gaines Nall, Jr. of Siler City; maternal grandparents, Phil and Lisa Overacre Gaines, Jr. of Goldston; paternal grandfather, Randy S. Nall, Sr. of Sanford; paternal grandmother, Debra and Joseph Kernstine of Bear Creek; maternal great-grandparents, Phil and JoAnn Gaines, Sr. of Siler City; maternal great-grandmother, Martha Helton of Siler City; paternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Nall of Sanford; paternal great-grandmother, Catherine Wright of Siler City; uncles and aunts, Chad and Ann Gaines, Holly Gaines, Philip Gaines and Magon York. Graveside services were held Monday, May 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Joy Baptist Church Cemetery, 61 Bowers Store Road, Siler City with Rev. Rodney Staley officiating. Smith & Buckner Funeral Home assisted the family.

EDNA BURKE KIDD
Edna Burke Kidd, 88, of US Hwy 64 West, Siler City died Monday, May 27, 2013 at Siler City Care and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Kidd was born in Chatham County on October 15, 1924, the daughter of Addison and Maggie (Lemons) Burke. She was a member of Hickory Mountain Baptist Church and retired from Siler City Manufacturing. Edna enjoyed cooking, canning, playing Bingo and spending time with family. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Howard J. Kidd; two sons, Billy Kidd and wife Sherry, Jerry Kidd and wife Linda, all of Siler City; sister, Bronna Phillips of High Falls; one brother, William T. Burke of Asheboro; grandchildren, Rob Kidd and wife Beth, Kelly Eldridge and husband John, Heidi Faucette and husband Travis, Nicholas Kidd; step-grandchildren, Michael Boone and wife Angela, Mitchell Boone and wife Emily; and eight great-grandchildren. The family received friends Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2:30 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial followed in Hickory Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City. Memorials may be made to Hickory Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1094 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

ROY L. MARLEY, JR.
Roy Lee Marley, Jr., 70, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a native of Siler City, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Sunrise Senior Living at Siegen Lane. He received his Business Administrative degree from Duke University in 1964. While attending Duke, Roy was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He attended Duke University for four years on athletic scholarships for football and baseball. He began his career with Exxon in Raleigh, in December 1964, in the Marketing Department as a sales representative. Over the next 17 years, Roy progressed through a number of marketing assignments throughout the South, Florida and Texas. In 1981, Roy joined the Public Affairs organization in New Orleans and had various assignments before becoming the Louisiana Government Affairs Manager for Exxon in 1986. Roy continued to lobby for Exxon from 1982 to 2001 during the legislative sessions in Louisiana and several other states. He served as a committee chair and on several committees for Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association. In addition, he also served on committees for Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, Louisiana Chemical Association and the Governors Energy Task Force. He retired from Exxon in 2001 after 37 years of service. Roy was an excellent athlete and excelled in tennis and running. He played singles on a local and state level and was a member of Bocage Racquet Club. Roy enjoyed running every day. He ran in local runs and in numerous marathons. He also enjoyed SCUBA diving with his wife, family and friends. He was a former member of the City Club of Baton Rouge and the Tiger Athletic Foundation. Roy’s greatest love was his family and grandchildren. Those who knew Roy will remember him for his quick wit, sense of humor and laughter. He had a genuine love for life and cherished each moment as a gift. Roy was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Rings n’ Ivy Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee Marley, Sr. and Perry Craft Marley. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Judy Canaday Marley; his daughter, Sheri Marley Loy and her husband Stephen Loy, three grandsons, Tucker Hayes, Hayden Marley and Parker James; son, Travis Lee Marley and his wife Melanie Lowe Marley, grandchildren, Lillian Reese and Mason Lee; a brother, Danny Marley and sister-in-law Barbara Marley. He also leaves behind a special friend, his beloved feathery companion of twenty years, his parrot, Poncho. Our family is most grateful to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Sunrise Senior Living at Siegen Lane, and to the nurses at Hospice In His Care for providing him with loving care and attention. Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Friday, May 31, with a memorial service at 12. Interment of ashes will take place at the First United Methodist Church Columbarium following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Rings n’ Ivy Music Fund, 930 North Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70802; or Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area, 3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.

LILA WOMBLE BREWER
Lila Womble Brewer, age 97, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Siler City Center. Lila was born in Chatham County on September 5, 1915, the daughter of Floyd and Dillie Ward Womble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Cecil Brewer, her parents, brother, Lloyd Womble, sisters, Leisel Womble, Burdine Womble, Emma Rue Yanchurak, Mary Sue Womble, and Nancy Dunn. Survivors include her three daughters, Linda Merle Ellington (Terrill) of Siler City, Mary Jo Brewer of Winston Salem, Ann Sharpe (Robert) of Charlotte; one grandson, Matt Sharpe (Julie) of Matthews. She is also survived by a brother, Lynton Womble of Siler City; sisters, Irma Beal and Nadine Short of Siler City; and a sister-in-law, Louise Womble of Siler City; and several nieces and nephews. Lila graduated from Siler City High School in 1931. After her marriage in 1941, she devoted her life to her family and home. During the years she and Cecil provided a home for her mother-in-law, her mother, and her two sisters, Leisel and Burdine. Lila was very proud of her service in the Brush Creek Home Extension Club, serving as president for 18 years. She was also an active member of the Dig and Dream Garden Club and the United Daughters of the Confederacy as long as she was able. When her daughters were involved in scouts, Lila was a Girl Scout leader. Lila was a faithful member of Hope United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities. In recent years, she moved her membership back to her home church, Loves Creek Baptist Church. Lila was a very generous and loving sister and aunt, opening her home and heart to them, as well as to many friends. Cooking for family and friends was a great joy to Lila; she was well known for her delicious chicken pie, meat loaf, chess pie, and fudge. The family received friends, Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Loves Creek Baptist Church, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City, with Rev. Bob Boyd and Rev. Lisa Wishon officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Bonlee. Memorials may be made to Chatham County Council on Aging, 112 Village Lake Road, Siler City, NC 27344, Loves Creek Baptist Church, or to a charity of choice.

DORIS MYRTLE HARDEN BEAUDRY
Doris Myrtle Harder Beaudry, age 89 died May 25, 2013 at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living in Pittsboro. She was born October 24, 1923 in Waterbury, CT. She was the daughter of Harold R. Harder and Florence Anna Walden. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Roland Beaudry, her sister Elsie Montague and her brothers, Richard and Harold Harder. She is survived by her son, Richard P. Beaudry and wife Sheila of Pittsboro; her daughter, Janet M. Beaudry of Fayetteville; one granddaughter, Shannon B. Lora and husband Brian, and two great grandsons, Patrick and Scott Lora of Raleigh. Mrs. Beaudry traveled a lot as a military wife across the US and Europe before her husband retired in Fayetteville. After his death she worked as a library assistant in Hopewell, VA and in Hillsborough. After retiring, she spent many enjoyable years living with her son’s family in the Redbud community of Chatham County before moving to Twin Rivers and more recently to Cambridge Hills Assisted Living in Pittsboro. Services will be private and burial will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tennessee with her husband. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.

MAURICE BUDDEMEIER
Maurice “Bud” Race Buddemeier, 83, of Pittsboro, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at his home. A viewing and memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 31 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 396 West Street, Pittsboro. Pastor Bob Wachs will officiate. Flowers may be sent directly to Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, and guest book may be signed there. Maurice was born April 27, 1930 in Longview, Illinois to Merle and Thelma (Race) Buddemeier. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1952. On July 5, 1953, he married Pauline Harriet Jewell. Maurice had a long career in human resources/labor relations. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for many years and lived in various locations throughout the Midwest (Illinois, Michigan, Indiana) during his tenure. He worked for American Motor Company, South Bend Lathe, and then settled into his position as Director of Human Resources at Tootsie Roll Industries in Chicago, Illinois in the mid 1970s. He retired in the late ’90s and moved from Naperville, Illinois to Pittsboro, North Carolina to enjoy his retirement years. Maurice (Bud) was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Thelma, and wife, Pauline. He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Buddemeier, and three daughters, twins, Brenda Stigall and Nina Campbell, and Dr. Kamilla Buddemeier; two grandchildren, Michael and Naomi Crump. As a classical music lover, Maurice attended many concerts. He was an avid reader and was very politically minded and cognizant of world events. He loved to dabble in the stock market and enjoyed spending time with his family and making new friends. From the family: You were the best father ever. Our gratitude is undying and unwavering. We will love you and mom eternally.

JOAN MARIE PEGRAM REECE
Joan Marie Pegram Reece, 76, of Pittsboro, passed away Monday, (05-13-2013). A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, (05-17-2013) at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Interment will be held later in Dan View Cemetery in Eden, with a private family gathering. Born April 5, 1937 in Martinsville, Va., Mrs. Reece grew up in Reidsville. A graduate of Elon College, she retired from the E.P.A. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she was a choir member and director of Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Vance Jene Reece and a brother, Ralph Pegram. Survivors include her husband of 50+ years, L. Vance Reece, Jr.; children, Martha Reece Collins, Jeffrey Martin Reece; siblings Chester Pegram, Wayne Pegram, Gail Hoecherl, Mona Brannon; and eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 1785 Mount Gilead Church Road, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312.

CAROL ANN FARRINGTON
Ms. Carol Ann Farrington, 58, of Durham died Sunday (05-12-2013) at Duke University Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, (05-17-2013) at 2 p.m. at Terrells Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Survivors include sisters, Ada Thomas of Brooklyn, NY, and Erma Farrington of Pittsboro.
