CLARKSON LINDLEY HADLEY
Clarkson Lindley Hadley, 85, of 8773 Bethel South Fork Road, Snow Camp, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at South Fork Friends Church in Snow Camp, with Rev. Andrew Needham officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Hadley was a lifelong member of South Fork Friends Church and a member of William Penn Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin Hadley and Myrtis Ellen Braxton Hadley, infant son, Clarkson Lindley Hadley, Jr., brother, Herman Hadley, and sisters, Vera Lamb and Evelyn McKinney. Survivors include his wife, Callie Peace Hadley of the home; sons, William Hadley and wife Brenda of Snow Camp, Leonard Hadley of Snow Camp; daughter, Joan Hadley Helton and husband Andy of Burlington; brother, Russell Hadley and wife Peggy of Snow Camp; sister, Phyllis Wilson and husband Harry of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Charles and Andrew Hadley, Emily and Macy Helton; and special caregiver, Tina Hart. Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, at South Fork Friends Church, prior to the services. Memorials may be made to South Fork Friends Church, Bethel South Fork Road, Snow Camp. NC 27349.

VIOLA ELIZABETH JACOBS LEE
Mrs. Viola E. Lee, 94, of Moncure passed away Sunday (04-28-2013) at her home. Funeral services were held Saturday (05-04-2013) at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Moncure, with burial at Bryant Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Francine Parker of Pittsboro, Elizabeth Alston of Moncure; sons, Wallace Lee of Washington, DC, Curtis Lee of the home; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

KENNETH EDWARD BROWN
Mr. Kenneth Edward Brown 57, of Bennett, died Thursday, (05-02-2013) at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services were held Sunday, (05-05-2013) at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Poindexter officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Brown was born in Chatham County to the late Warren and Beverly Sumner Brown. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and worked in maintenance at Edwards Wood Yard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Shields. Survivors include a daughter, Kristen Morgan of Seagrove; son, Shannon Brown of Raleigh; sister, Jane Faulkner of Burlington; brothers, Ronnie Brown of Asheboro, Bill Brown of Burlington, Roger Brown of Bennett; and one granddaughter. Donations may be made to Hospice of Randolph County or Mt. Zion U.M.C. Cemetery fund. .

GLADYS CRAVEN STOUT JAMES
Gladys Craven Stout James, 93, of Siler City, died Saturday, (05-04-2013) at Pine Lake Health & Rehabilitation, Carthage. A memorial service was held Sunday, (05-05-2013) at 4 p.m., at the home of a granddaughter, Sherie Bowman. Mrs. James was born June 9, 1919 in Davidson County, the daughter of Ralph and Ida (Cole) Craven. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Kirby B. Stout, Rev. James M. James, a son, David Ray Stout; sister and brothers, Juanita, Colon and Leonard. She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte S. Jones of Siler City; sons: K. Earle Stout of Siler City, George Edward Stout of Gloucester, NC; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and six-great-great-grandchildren; and step-daughter; Eleanor Moses of Pittsboro.

LEONARD ANTHONY FISHER
Leonard Anthony Fisher, 93, of Siler City, died Friday, (05-03-2013) at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, (05-11-2013) at Siler City Presbyterian Church. Pastor Sue Flippin will officiate with a 2-Bell ceremony. Inurment will be held in the Salisbury National Cemetery with military rites at a later date. Mr. Fisher was born on June 7, 1919 in Nashua, NH, the son of George A. and Agnes (Meehan) Fisher. Leonard was a ham radio operator. He served from 1937 – 1959 in the US Navy as a Chief Quarter Master and was a life-time member of the Fleet Reserve. He was a member of Siler City Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder. Survivors include his wife of 72½ years, Helen (Richards) Fisher; sons, Richard A. Fisher of Staley, L. Timothy Fisher of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. at Siler City Presbyterian Church. The family requests memorials be made to the Siler City Presbyterian Church, 720 West Third Street, Siler City, NC 27344. Smith & Buckner Funeral Home of Siler City is assisting the Fisher Family.

CARL EVERETTE HUSSEY
Mr. Carl Everette Hussey, 97, of Seagrove, died Friday, (05-03-2013) at his home Funeral services were held Monday, (05-06-2013) at 2 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Bouldin, Rev. Gerald Hussey, and Rev. Charles Lassiter officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Hussey, son of the late William Wesley and Carrie Maness Hussey, was a Randolph County native and an Army Veteran, serving in WW II. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, a retired poultry farmer and carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Reeder Hussey of the home; daughters, Brenda H. Brady, Margie H. Wilson, both of Seagrove; sons, Paul Hussey and Rev. Gerald Hussey, both of Seagrove; sister, Stella Garner of Robbins; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

LARRY THOMAS COMER
Larry Thomas Comer, Sr, 64, of Bear Creek passed away Saturday, (05-04-2013) at his home. funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rogers Memorial Chapel by Rev. Eric Davidson. Mr. Comer was born in Logan, WV and was preceded in death by his father, Roy T. Comer and his first wife, Dianna Tackett Comer. Larry attended Mays Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Musslewhite Comer; sons, Larry T. Comer Jr., Michael S. Comer, both of Colorado Springs, CO; his mother, Merble D. Comer of Sanford; sister, Judy Garrett of Sanford; and six grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to Mays Chapel Baptist Church, 24 Rosser Rd., Bear Creek, NC 27207.

ELOISE MOSES BRIDGMAN
Eloise Moses Bridgman, 87, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 while at the home of her son, Phillip Bridgman in Potsdam, NY after a year-long battle with cancer. She and her husband, Arthur, were residents of Pittsfield, MA, from 1959 until 1985 when he retired from GE and they moved back to her original home place of Pittsboro, NC. She was born in Jonesboro, NC, January 7, 1926, the youngest child of Edwin F. Moses and Sallie Juanita (Glosson) who started life as sharecroppers in rural NC. She graduated from Goldston (NC) High School. She was a trained vocalist, having studied at Greensboro Women’s College and then later under a private voice teacher for most of the years she lived in Pittsfield, MA. She was a mezzo soprano, often singing solos or duets at Grace Church Congregational in Pittsfield, MA where she and her husband were longtime members. She later played the piano for Cedar Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member when she died. In her early 20’s, she lived and worked in Chapel Hill, and was a personal friend of Andy Griffith, who was then a student at UNC. He would often stop by to walk her to choir practice. It was in Chapel Hill that she met her husband, Arthur L. Bridgman while he was a graduate student in chemistry. They were married July 9, 1948. Eloise was also a quilter. She made numerous quilts for each of her five sons, her grandchildren, and even some of her great-grandchildren. Eloise was always characterized by deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ and a genuine concern for people. The integrity of her name was always of supremely more value than personal possessions or recognition. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1999 and by her three brothers. She is survived by one sister, Mabel Packer of Virginia Beach, VA; her five sons, Arthur L. Bridgman Jr. and wife Chin Sun of Roseboro, NC, the Rev. Thomas E. Bridgman and wife Charleen of Pittsfield, MA, Dr. Phillip M. Bridgman and wife Donna-Jean of Potsdam, NY, James M. Bridgman and wife Regina of Pittsboro, Dr. Bruce G. Bridgman and wife Jeanne Yang of Crofton, MD; 13 grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Grove Methodist Church in Pittsboro on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at the Cedar Grove cemetery.

DR. W. T. “Bill” AUMAN
Dr. W. T. “Bill” Auman, age 71, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his home. The family conducted funeral services on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery. Dr. Auman was born in Asheboro on March 21, 1942 to Howard Frank Auman, Sr. and Lucille Crisp Auman, who preceded him in death. Dr. Auman earned Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in history as well as a Master of Science in Library Science. His vast knowledge of local and state history have been published in North Carolina Historical Review, books on history, archives, and genealogy. He was the historian for the Andrew Auman Family Reunion and the author of “The Diary of Mary Elizabeth Auman” which covers some of Seagrove and Why Not history. His latest book is at the publisher’s now on North Carolina’s “Inner Civil War.” He was a lifelong historian to say the least. He was also a past member of the Randolph County Genealogist Society. He is survived by his brother, Frank Auman, Jr. and Karen Hurley of Greensboro; sister, Anne Auman Brown and husband Richard of Pittsboro; nephews and nieces, Frankie Auman and wife Lindsey, Shannon Recker and husband Frank, Summer Estes and husband Kevin, Tiffany Auman, Debbie Mullis, Billy Leviner and wife Sheila, John Leviner and wife Lisa, Andy Leviner and wife Lisa, Justin Brown and wife Teresa, and Holly Hussey and husband Johnathan; great nephews and nieces, Avery, Emily, Abigail, Levi, August, Jalen, Giovanna, Tyler and wife Amy, Jeremy, Cody, Dylan, Adam, Amber, Chasity, Chase, Jacob, Sara Kate, Addison, Chris, Trent, Curtis, Jordan, Jerrett, Ashley, and Jax. The family received friends on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. BOBBI (ROBERTA M.A.) KREMIN LONGO
December 8, 1946 ~ April 30, 2013 Bobbi Longo passed away April 30, 2013 in Pittsboro. Prior to her move to Pittsboro in 2004, she had been a longtime resident of Oswego, NY. She was the daughter of Robert L. Kremin and Claire H. Grawboski Kremin of Syracuse, NY, both of whom preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughters, Christine M. Longo of Mexico, NY, Nicole A. Longo (Patrick H. Barnes IV) of Pittsboro. Also mourning her passing is her companion Jerry Wilcox of Syracuse, NY; sisters Karin C. Welch (Joseph) of Camillus, NY, Susan K. Longo (Robert) of Warners, NY; and extended family that included nieces, nephews and cousins. Bobbi had a zest for life. She was an accomplished gardener, cook, and baker. What Bobbi will be remembered for most is her love for her children, friends, family and life itself. She lived her life abundantly and will be greatly missed by all who loved her and the people whose life she touched on a daily basis. Her daughters jokingly called her “The Pittsboro Joy Germ.” Rest in peace Mom, Mommy. Sleep with the angels, and walk with them, too. We love you always, Chrissy and Nikki.

JAMES EDWARD DANIELS
James Edward Daniels, 87, formerly of Goldston, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his home. Son of James Albert Daniels and Keron Woolard Daniels, he was born February 15, 1926 in Washington, NC. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Linda Daniels Nicholson, her husband Michael Nicholson and their three children, Jon, Malcolm, and Hannah; and son, Taumi Daniels and his wife Rene Cabral Daniels and their daughters, Arrianne, Allanna, and Amarra. James is also survived by numerous relatives including Clingman Woolard and family of Carbonton, NC, Walter Daniels and family of Victoria, TX, Louise Daniels Woolard of Washington, NC, Lillian Warren Smith and family of Havelock, NC, Inez Warren Johnson of Washington, NC, Patsy Warren Boyd and family of Washington, NC, Darlaine Warren Cieszko of Washington, NC, and Barbara Campbell Barbour and family of Poquoson, VA. At age 16, James left home to work for Davey Tree Company in Raleigh. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 at Guantanamo Naval Base, Cuba. He reenlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1947 to 1965 in a variety of roles from cook to combat infantry. He saw combat duty during the Korean War in 1950 and was awarded several awards and commendations. Later during his Army career, he served as a helicopter flight engineer from 1959 to 1965. After serving two tours in Korea, his duty stations included Tokyo, Japan, where he met Michiko Kinosita in 1947. They married in 1950 in the resort town of Atami, Japan. James and Michiko lived the military lifestyle, moving from Aberdeen, MD to Paris, France to Lawton, OK. James retired from the Army and worked as a civilian helicopter pilot and mechanic for the U.S. Army in Alamogordo, NM. In 1977, James and Michiko retired to Goldston, where they built their retirement home to raise vegetables. He became known as the “Tomato Man” to many in the area. Michiko was known for her skills as a seamstress, making numerous wedding dresses for local ladies. In August 2011, Michiko succumbed to Alzheimer’s Disease. Mr. Daniels will be cremated and services will be private.
