Ms. Annie Mae Daye
BURLINGTON - Ms. Annie Mae Daye, 95, of 508 Maple Ave. died at 7:58 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at her home after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Mr. Charlie B. Daye and Mrs. Sally Haith Daye, both deceased. She was employed at the former Ward Hotel.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Louise D. Burgess of the home; four sons, Mr. Charlie William Daye of Pennsylvania, Mr. Willie 'Lil Bro' Daye of Burlington, Mr. Robert Lewis 'Butch' Daye and Mr. William 'Big Bro' Daye, both of the home; a brother, Mr. Frank 'Shine' Daye of Burlington; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Peggie Daye Booker; and two sons, Mr. Eddie 'June' Daye and Mr. Robert 'Pete' Daye.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. William J. Holt. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 5 to 6 Saturday afternoon and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Marian L. Wilson
SOUTHPORT - Mrs. Marian Lesko Wilson, 82, formerly of Burlington, died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997, at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center in Southport.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the wife of the late Mr. Reginald S. Wilson and the daughter of Mr. Stanley Lesko and Mrs. Ophelia Bezubik Lesko, both deceased. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. John Wilson of Rosamond, Calif., and Mr. Frank Wilson of La Vergne, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Pine Hill Cemetery by Dr. Charles Williams, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington one hour before the service.
Mr. D.V. Pike Jr.
SILER CITY - Mr. D.V. Pike Jr., 78, of 7788 Silk Hope-Liberty Road died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Country Forest Manor.
A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Dorothy White Pike. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a charter member of Silk Hope Ruritan Club. He attended Guilford College and was retired from Beaman Corp. in Liberty. He was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, where he was a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Phillip Michael Pike of Siler City and Mr. Donald Lee Pike of Carthage; two daughters, Ms. Phyllis P. Haga and Ms. Bonnie P. Albright, both of Siler City; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rocky River Friends Meeting by the Rev. David K. Hobson and the Rev. Gerald Pike. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Phyllis P. Haga, 7895 Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Siler City.

Mr. Lawrence Coleman
GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Lawrence Barber Coleman, 74, of 909 Ingle St. died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after three months of failing health, four weeks critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Polly Marley Coleman, who survives, and the son of Mr. George Edward 'Ed' Coleman and Mrs. Ola Barber Coleman, both deceased. He was a former employee of Cannon Mills and Baptist.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. J.R. (Jean) Majors and Miss Becky Lynn Coleman, both of Graham; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Doris Ann Huffman and Mrs. Betty Lee Everhart, both of Gibsonville; one stepson, Mr. Square Henry Speas of Gibsonville; two sisters, Mrs. Inez Smith of Burlington and Mrs. Thelma Merritt of Franklinton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. Lawrence Barber Coleman Jr. and Mr. Nathan Edward Coleman; and a brother, Mr. James Coleman Sr.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mark Gammon, pastor of East Burlington Church of God and the Rev. Harold Proffitt of White Dove. Burial will be in Gibsonville City Cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Jean Majors, 4460 N.C. 54 South, Graham.

Mr. James R. Redd
ORLANDO, Fla. - Mr. James Ralph Redd, 76, of 713 Bean Lane, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, at Florida East Hospital.
A native of Tennessee, he was the son of Mr. George Emmit Redd and Mrs. Verna Cox Redd, both deceased. He was a nurse.

Mrs. Mildred Winstead
NEWTON - Mrs. Mildred Stephens Winstead, 84, of Abernathy Center, 102 Leonard Ave., formerly of Elon College, died at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997, at Abernathy Center after a long illness.
A native of Semora, she was the wife of the late Mr. Thomas Wesley Winstead and the daughter of Mr. Henry Calvin Stephens and Mrs. Martha Octavia Crowder Stephens, both deceased. She was a retired nurse's aide at Alamance County Hospital for 21 years and was ward secretary. She was a member of the Friendship Club, The Wandering Twig Garden Club and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Grace Cheek Sunday School Class and active in the church circles. She attended Bethel United Church of Christ in Hickory.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Martha Carol Winstead Fonville of Hickory; two sons, Mr. Joe Rainey Winstead of Manteo and Mr. Wesley Wayne Winstead of Burlington; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Calvin Stephen 'Steve' Winstead.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Red House Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jamie Fonville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Viola Campbell
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Viola Webster Campbell, 87, of 2715 May Drive, died at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Chatham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. John Ward Campbell and the daughter of Mr. Kiah Webster and Mrs. Dora Cook Webster, both deceased. She was retired from Sellars Department Store. She was a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church in Chatham County and attended Davis Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Norma) Moore of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Hazel W. Lindley of Pittsboro; a brother, Mr. Norman Webster of Burlington; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Michael Hobbs, pastor of Davis Street United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Suzanne Cloyd Hultman, associate pastor of Davis Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Fannie Andrews
ELON COLLEGE - Mrs. Fannie Sue Stanley Andrews, 81, of 1870 Prince Edward Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of Mr. Otis Elwood Andrews, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. James D. Stanley and Mrs. Dora Stanley, both deceased. She was a retired employee of Monarch Hosiery Mill and a member of Hopedale Christian Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Charles R. (Nancy) Davis of Greensboro; five sisters, Mrs. Sarah Basham and Mrs. Bessie Mays, both of Burlington, Mrs. Virginia Gibbs and Mrs. Lula Cobb, both of Reidsville, and Mrs. Annie Andrews of Greensboro; two brothers, Mr. McBride Stanley of Reidsville and Mr. Henry Stanley of Greensboro; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bartlett Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Lester Stanley and the Rev. Doug Durham. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

GRAHAM - Mr. Walter Robert 'Dude' Rich, 67, of 1010 Mobile Park Road, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997, at The Hospice Home after eight months of failing health, three days critical.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Phillip M. Rich and Mrs. Maggie Allred Rich, both deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from textiles and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lisa Dawn Rich Green of the home; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Pat Culberson and Miss Debbie Wrenn, both of Burlington; and Mrs. Elizabeth 'Lib' Sea of Belmont; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Chester of Graham and Mrs. Helen Eli of Burlington; two brothers, the Rev. Max Rich of Burlington and Mr. Bynum Rich of Gibsonville; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. David Jackson and the Rev. Raymond Webb. Burial will be in Bellemont United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening and at other times at the home of a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Chester, 717 Sycamore Road, Graham.

Mrs. Julia W. Parker
GRAHAM - Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Ward Parker, 91, of 3140 Boywood Road, died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Alamance Health Care Center in Burlington after 12 years of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Rowan County, she was the wife of the late Mr. John Jackson Parker and the daughter of Mr. William Franklin Ward Sr. and Mrs. Nettie Ann Tucker Ward, both deceased. She was retired from Cannon Mills Inc. and a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Julia Parker Teague of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Frances King Gray of Burlington; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Ken Simpson. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Ira E. Townsend
BURLINGTON - Mr. Ira Eugene Townsend, 91, of Alamance Health Care Center in Burlington, formerly of Banner Elk, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 30, 1997.
Born Feb. 29, 1906, in Watauga County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Alice Baird Townsend and the late Mrs. Ruby Greene Townsend. He was the son of Mr. Charles Townsend and Mrs. Rosa Eggers Townsend, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and a Lutheran.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Clara Greene and Mrs. Phyllis Sandy, both of Burlington, Mrs. Dare Johnson of Graham and Mrs. Willa Mae Parker of Elon College; four sons, Mr. Charles Townsend of Newland, Mr. Byrle Townsend of Banner Elk, Mr. Landon Townsend of Spruce Pine and Mr. Richard Townsend of Siler City; three brothers, Mr. Ray Townsend of Fall Branch, Tenn., Mr. Aubyn Townsend of Connelly Springs and Mr. Grant Townsend of Banner Elk; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Myrtle Townsend, Mrs. Frost Bean and Mrs. Ruby Patton; a brother, Mr. Henry Townsend; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel in Boone by the Rev. Earl Carver Jr. Burial will be in Liberty-Matney Cemetery in Banner Elk.
