Transformation
A poem by Violet Collins
The worm lay stuporous and dormant,
Trapped in his cumbersome shell, Proud of his warmth and darkness,
Not knowing his cocoon was hell.
Then one day he saw a bit of light,
And he struggled free with a cry,
“This is I, I’m not a worm.
Behold! I can fly! I can fly!
