Wayne Pendergraft

Wayne Pendergraft, "Slope", 78, of Apex died Saturday, January 16, 2010.

He was a retired employee of the Town of Apex with 28 years of service.

Mr. Pendergraft was a charter member and deacon of Faith Baptist Church for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Stephens Pendergraft.

His is also survived by a son; Donald and wife Linda of Apex, 2 grandchildren; Melinda and Donna of Apex, 2 great grandchildren; Alex and Mariah of Apex; sisters: Doris Rich of Apex, Pat and husband Ed of Apex; brother: Tom of Apex.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah, Parents Raymond and Martha Mary, Brothers: Ernest, Milan and Billy and sister, Jane.

A funeral service was held in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 conducted by Reverend Lalon Barnes. Burial followed in Apex Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Triangle/Eastern NC Chapter Juvenile Diabetes, 7721 Six Forks Road, Suite 136 Raleigh, NC 27615 or Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, P O 223, Apex, NC 27502.

Shirley Ruth Hair

Shirley Ruth Hair, 72, passed away at Harnett Manor in Lillington, N.C. Mrs. Hair was born icon to the late Anderson and Mattie Yates in Harnett County. She is also preceded in death by her husband William Hair and her daughter Wilma Kish. She leaves behind two sons: William James Hair, Jr. and Willy Jessie Hair, as well as one sister, Emma Moore, and one brother, Lloyd Yates.

A visitation was held at Williford Funeral Home, January 1, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service was held at Williford Funeral Home Chapel, January 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. with burial following at Kennebec Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Williford Funeral Home, 919-552-2211.

Eleanor Lee Sturdivant

Eleanor Lee Sturdivant, 85, died Sunday, December 13, 2009. A native of Wake County, she was the daughter of the late Romulus Devan Sturdivant and Mavis Beasley Sturdivant. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 15 at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh. Surviving is her sister-in-law, Joyce Sturdivant of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Sturdivant and brother, R.D. “Van” Sturdivant.

William Augustus Boger, Sr.

William Augustus Boger, Sr., 71, died Thursday, January 14, 2010. A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Holland’s United Methodist Church. A native of Mecklenburg County, William was born icon January 1, 1939 to the late William Jackson and Mattie Flynn Boger. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Nancy Motsinger Boger; daughter, Karen Metler (Mike); sons, William Augustus, Jr. ( Elvira), Kevin Boger (Angie) and Christopher Boger; sister, Carolyn Brown (Frank); grandchildren, Sara, Emma, Nina, Lindsey and Hayley and several nieces and nephews. Visitation followed the Memorial Service at Holland’s UMC.

Madison Reanne Lynch

ANGIER – Madison Reanne Lynch, 8, of 40 Fairfield Ct. was called to heaven on Friday. Born March 7, 2000 in Wake County, She is the daughter of T.J. and Aimee Lynch who survive. Funeral Services will be held 6:00 PM on Monday at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church. Madison was a wonderful daughter who was an A Honor Roll student at North Harnett Primary School. She was active in the community through participation in sports and was loved by all who knew her. Madison will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents Madison is survived by, brother, Zachary Lynch and her dog Maximus of the home; grandparents, Theodore and JoAnn Lynch, Frederick and Reba Kriglein, Mikal and Jamie Stapleton, great-grandparents, Orlando and Wealthea Lynch, Ronald and Loretta Ryan, JoAnn McDonald, Edward and Linda Rice, Shirley Squires, uncles and aunts, Michael and Christy Burkhart, Kent and Erin Pack, Ryan and Patrick Stapleton, cousins, Alec and Benjamin Pack, and Mikey and Lucas Burkhart, Sadie Robosson, Johnnie Cratch, Allyssa Kesler. Madison was also very close to her great uncle John and great aunt Julie Cratch, great uncle Eddie Rice and Great Aunt Rose Hughson and Phyllis Twigg. She is also survived by numerous friends and relatives. The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 -6:00 PM at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church. Kay Dennis Whitley

WILLOW SPRING — Kay Dennis Whitley, 75, died Saturday at Rex Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A native of Harnett Co., she was the daughter of the late James and Vergie Wagstaff Dennis. She was predeceased by her husband, Elder Thomas R. Whitley, Sr. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Middle Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving: daughter, Linda Whitley Key and her husband, Raford of Willow Spring; sons, Thomas Ray Whitley, Jr. of Willow Spring and Benny Whitley and his wife, Tonya of Fuquay- Varina; sister, Bonnie Clayton of Raleigh; brother, Bobby Dennis and his wife, Alberta of Willow Spring; grandchildren, Tyson and Stefanie, Ashley, Benjamin, Hunter and Kaylee. The family will receive friends on Monday 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier and at other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake Co., 1300 St. Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC 27605.

ANGIER – Cecil Thomas Ausley, Jr., 45, died Thursday at his residence. A native of Harnett County he is the son of Cecil Thomas Ausley, Sr. and Marie B. Ausley and the late Patricia Ann Powell. Graveside Services will be held Monday at 3:00 PM at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. In addition to his parents he is survived by, daughters, Tabitha Brook Ausley of Angier; Ashley Nicole Ausley of Garner; sisters, Teresa Macon of Garner; Angela Weaver of Angier; brothers, Gerald Scott and Chris Scott both of Angier; Andy Scott of Raleigh. He was predeceased by a sister, Sherri Dykes. Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.

Michael Joseph Kollar

ANGIER – Michael Joseph Kollar, 83, of 291 Clearfield Drive, died Friday at Wake Medical Center. A native of Lackawanna, PA he was the son of the late Andrew and Helen Maslar Kollar. Mr. Kollar retired after 34 years of service with Westinghouse. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Senior Citizens groups in his church and Angier. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Fuquay- Varina. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Surviving: wife of 59 years, Angie Michalczyk Kollar, daughters, Bobbie Rouse and husband, Danny of Raleigh; Angela Rivera of Angier; son, Andy Kollar of Angier; sisters, Johanna Sokirka of Blakely, PA; Pauline Kiballa of Olyphant, PA; grandchildren, Michael Rouse, Kelby Rouse, Dianne Storm, Helen Kollar-McArthur, great-grandchildren, Daniel Raines, Andrew Rouse, Amelia Grace Storm. The family will receive friends after the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Building Fund, 1005 Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Rebecca Beasley Watson

RALEIGH- Rebecca Beasley Watson, 88, passed away Thursday at Rex Healthcare. Born in Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Elmond Beasley and Emma Deal Beasley. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at White Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Willow Spring. Surviving are her son, William “Bill” Edward Watson, Jr. and wife, Elsie of Raleigh; grandson, Eddie Watson and wife, Brenda; great-grandchildren, Timothy and Brandon Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Watson. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC 27605.

Hellene M. Wells

Hellene Wells, age 77, died peacefully Sunday, November 30, 2008 following an extended illness. She was born icon June 25, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, to the late John Emil and Annie Carlzon. She graduated from Kingston High School in 1947 and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn in 1951. On September 14, 1952 she was united in marriage to the late Herbert L. Wells. She raised her family in West Shokan, NY and moved to Raleigh in 1976. Hellene was a registered nurse in the operating room at Wake Med Raleigh. She was a charter member of the First Reformed Church of Cary. Following retirement in 1986, Hellene and Herb moved to Beverly Hills, Fl. Together they were active with the Beverly Hills Lions Club. Hellene was the first lady to join a Lions Club after many years of protest and lawsuits against discrimination in prior years. She served as President of the Beverly Hills Lions Club and was Assistant District Governor. Her work as a director on the board of the Daytona Conklin Center (an organization for the multiple handicapped blind) was exceptional. She was a passionate supporter of the Southeastern Guide Dog Center in Palmetto, Fl. In 1995 Hellene was presented with the Melvin Jones Award for Humanitarian Services by Lions Club International. While living in North Carolina she continued to serve in the Cary Lions Club until her death. Following the loss of her beloved Herb, Hellene returned to NC to be with her family whom she cherished and loved more than anything. Hellene is survived by two sons, Don and his wife Sherry, and Tom and his wife Pam; and two grandchildren, Tess and Miles. She is also survived by a brother, Robert and his wife Delores of Kingston, NY; their daughter, Susan and her husband Al Shumway: children Matthew and Morgan Ann and their son Richard and his wife Amy all of NY. She is further survived by other relatives in New York and Sweden and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church of Cary located at 555 SW Maynard Rd. Cary, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. We would like to thank Dr. Lloyd Hey and all the staff at the Hey Clinic, also the staff at Select Specialty Hospital, Horizon Palliative Care, and Blue Ridge Health and Rehabilitation for their kind and compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to the Conklin Center for the Blind at www.conklincenter.org, Southeastern Guide Dogs at www.guidedogs.org or the First Reformed Church of Cary. Annie Mae Moore Harter

GARNER- Annie Mae Moore Harter, died December 3, 2008 at The Laurels of Forest Glenn, Garner, NC. Born in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late George Herbert Moore and Cora Gragg Moore. A graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College, she taught school for 30 years in Caldwell, Anson and Scotland Counties, retiring in 1976. Mrs. Harter was a lifelong Advent Christian. She was a member of Berea Advent Christian Church, Collettsville, during her youth and in recent years, a member of Garner Advent Christian Church. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner with the Rev. Joe Pritchett officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be 3:00 PM Friday in Spring Hill Cemetery in Wagram, NC. Survivors include her daughter, Ann Moore Harter and her husband, Wayne Baldwin of Garner; grandchildren, Ronald Jacob Valentine of Wilmington, Jenna Valentine and husband, Aubrey Turner; great grandchildren, August Seth Turner and Aaron Simon Turner of Kernersville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Ritter Harter and her son, Jacob Ritter Harter, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Garner Advent Christian Church, P. O. Box 381, Garner, NC 27529.

RALEIGH – Brian Boru Britt, 78, passed away Tuesday at Rex Healthcare. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Bonnie Britt and Mary Sue Murray Britt. He served his country as a member of the United States Army. Funeral Services will be 2:30 PM Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. Surviving are daughters, Pamela Renee’ Britt of Raleigh and Briana Bragg of Apex; sister, Shirley Brown of Louisburg; grandchild, A.J. Bragg and his beloved cats, Peter, Mary, Hitler, Mussolini and Saddam The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home.
