Vickey Lynn Cooke
July 19, 1958 – October 17, 2011
Vickey Lynn Cooke, 53, of Wilson departed from this life to be with her loved ones with the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Joyner’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Nixon of Wilmington, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home of Lou Vick, 3003-B Westshire Drive, Wilson.
Vickey was loved deeply by her brothers and sisters, and all that were fortunate to have known her.
She is survived by three sisters, Lou Vick of Wilson, Patricia Bradley of Wilmington, and Gwendolyn Parks and husband, Carl, of Fayetteville; two brothers, Ray Cook of Rocky Mount, and Charles Cook and wife, Phyllis, of Macclesfield; four nieces, Pam, Donna, and Kenda all of Wilson, and Leigh Anne of Asheville; and a nephew, Travis of Asheville.
Vickey was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Delbert and Hattie Mercer Cook and a brother, Jasper Ronald Cook.
Larry Joseph Turner
December 14, 1924 – October 14, 2011
Larry Joseph Turner, of Wilson died Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. The Rev. Ricky Freeman will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway immediately following the service and other times at 4705 Tamarisk Lane.
Mr. Turner is survived by his two daughters, Debra Turner Tamberelli and husband, Wayne of Rocky Mount and Julie Turner Williams and husband, Billy of Wilson; a grandson, Will Turner Williams of Wilson, two sisters, Charlene Etheridge of Elm City and Mildred Edwards of Rocky Mount.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Grace Williamson Turner; one sister, Ruby Davis and one brother, Sidney “Bud” Turner.
He was the owner of Larry Turner Plumbing and Heating Company.

Marion “Junior” Barnes
October 9, 1947 – October 15, 2011
Marion “Junior” Barnes of Pikeville died Saturday. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pastor Danny Johnson will officiate at both services.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Barnes; two sons, David Michael Barnes and wife Michelle of Pikeville, and Robert Earl Barnes and friend, Melinda of Pikeville; a sister, Jean Tomlinson of Wilson; a brother, Johnny Barnes of Wilson; two special brothers-in-law, Wayne Gardner and Julian Langley; a special companion, Bootsie; and five grandchildren, Samantha, Justin, Brooke, Austin, and Daniel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Jones Barnes and Dorothy Pearce Barnes; a sister, Linda Faye Gardner; and a brother, Charles Ray Barnes.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Brian Center in Goldsboro and the Davita Dialysis Center in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service and at other times the family will be at the home of Mike and Michelle Barnes, 115 Joy Ave., Blueberry Hill Subdivision, Pikeville.

Mark Allan Bidwell
November 9, 1962 – October 12, 2011
Mark Allan Bidwell, 48, of Wilson died Wednesday. Private funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Pam Mitcham at a later date.
Mr. Bidwell is survived by his wife, Phyllis Stapleton Bidwell; a daughter, Gabrielle Bidwell and a step-daughter, Katharine Bailey all of the home; his parents, Lawrence “Bud” Bidwell, III and Margaret “Pat” Bidwell of Raleigh; a brother, Larry Bidwell IV of Va.; two nephews, L. Daniel Bidwell and Samuel L. Bidwell both of Va., and many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Lawrence H. Bidwell Jr. and Lucy Riegal Bidwell Kreitz and maternal grandparents, Patsy J. Macaluso and Margaret Weaver Macaluso Border, and an aunt, Saundra L. Noll.

Major Janice Holloman Bovender
October 9, 1948 – October 10, 2011
Major Janice Holloman Bovender, 63, of Wilson was promoted to glory Monday, October 10, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
She is survived by her husband, Major Jimmy Eugene Bovender; a daughter, Major Cynthia Bovender Wise of Wilson; a son, Michael K. Bovender and wife, Elizabeth K Bovender of Houston, Texas; a foster-son, Jimmy R. Martin of Parkersburg, W. Va.; her mother, Catherine Holloman; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Vandora Patterson and Teresa Parker of Wilson and Cathy Denton of Middlesex; two brothers, Linwood Holloman of Wilson and Ray Holloman of Clayton, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Holloman; a sister, Elaine Goff and a son-in-law, Major Philip A. Wise.

Sarah Rasino
October 28, 1929 – October 7, 2011
Sarah Martha DiBlasi Rasino, 81, of Wilson died Friday. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral home. The Rev. David List and Ralph Pollett will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 3 – 6 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times the family will be at 601 Brentwood Drive.
She was the former owner of MarGill’s Hair Salon for about 20 years. She was also a Redken Hair Product Educator for 14 years. Sarah also worked for Edward Fulford at Fulford’s Antiques.
She is survived by her husband Ferdinando “Fred” Rasino; three daughters, Stacy R. Blizzard and husband, Harold of New Bern, Valerie R. Durham and husband, Rudy of Wilson, and Jessica Rasino of Wilmington; a son, David Rasino of Wilson; and three grandsons, Ryan Blizzard of New Bern, Kyle Blizzard and wife, Ronda of Milton, Fla., and Nicholas Durham of New Bern.
Mrs. Rasino was preceded in death by her parents Theadore and Marie Alesia DiBlasi; and a grandson, Travis Durham.
James Edwin “Pappy” Hogan
July 16, 1939 – October 5, 2011
James Edwin “Pappy” Hogan, 72, of Kenly died Wednesday.
“Pappy” was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and rode for 60 years in the wind on Earth and now rides forever in Heaven with the Lord.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Faye Hogan; five sons, Geno Hogan of Texas, Allen Hogan of Cary, Randy Hogan of Ohio, Shon Hogan of Florida, and Donte Hogan of Ohio; two step-daughters, Debbra Faye Bentley of Florida and Andra “Tigger” Garris and husband, Marty of Wilson; two step-sons, Dean Bentley of Rutherfordton and William Bentley of Florida; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Isaiah Jayden Carbenas.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
