Mrs. Carolyn Johnson Wheeler

August 18, 2007

Benson, NC: Mrs. Carolyn Johnson Wheeler age 64 of Benson went to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 18, 2007. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM Monday at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Mrs. Wheeler was born March 5, 1943 in Johnston County to the late Elam & Virginia Stephenson Johnson. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Alsie Wheeler, a grandson, William Derrick Perry, Brothers, Stacy L. Johnson, and Billy Dean Johnson.

Carolyn is survived by loving Daughters, Kathy Perry & Husband Randy Gay, Debbie Wheeler & Fiancé, Shane Brady, Kimberly & John Holder all of Benson; Sister, Reta & Husband Billy H. Johnson of Benson; Sisters-in-Law, Janice Johnson of Four Oaks & Jean Johnson of Newton Grove;

Grandchildren, Jonathan Perry, Randa Gay, & John Clifton Holder; Great-Grandchildren;

Hailey Gautier & Ashleigh Perry; Special Friend, Bill McLeod.

Carolyn was a member of St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, a homemaker, and a passionate floral designer. She had the love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Commons Nursing Facility & Liberty Commons Hospice for the love and care they showed Mama during her stay there.

The family will receive friends Sunday 6:00PM to 8:00PM and other times at the home of Debbie Wheeler 1497 Old Barbour Road, Benson, NC 27504.

Mr. Clyde Linwood “Tink” Barefoot

August 17, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. Clyde Linwood “Tink” Barefoot, 83, of 2230 Benson-Hardee Road died Friday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Monday at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Revs. Glenn Fell & Hollis Fedrick. Burial will follow in Hodges Chapel Church Cemetery, Benson..

Mr. Barefoot was born January 23, 1924 in Johnston County to the late Isaac Vince & Eula Sorrell Barefoot. Mr. Barefoot was a retired employee of Burlington Industries and a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church.

Surviving include Wife of 51 years, Genevieve Royal Barefoot; Sister, Lela Pearl Barefoot of Benson; Special Friend, Pete Norris and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Benson, from 7:00PM until 9:00PM

Sunday and at the home at other times.

Mr. Jackie Wayne Grimes

August 17, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. Jackie Wayne Grimes age 58 of 1130 W. Pope Street died Friday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM Sunday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Revs. Ben Grimes & Randy Beasley. Burial will follow at Devotional Gardens in Dunn, N.C.

Mr. Grimes was born April 2, 1949 in Harnett County to the late Melvin A. & Veda Tart Grimes. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Maxine Lane Grimes. Mr. Grimes was a retired Lieutenant with the Department of Corrections at Central Prison.

Surviving include Sons, Brian Watts and Jason Grimes of Benson; Kenneth Grimes Dawson of Willow Springs and Chadwick Grimes of Apex; Brothers, Ben Grimes and wife Joan of Coats; Randy Grimes and wife Tonya of Fuquay-Varina and Jerry Grimes and wife Judy of Goldsboro; one Sister, Kathy Peede and husband Mike of Coats; and three Grandchildren, Kassidy Watts, Jonathan Watts and Jake Dawson.

Family will receive friends at Rose and Graham Funeral Home on Saturday from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Mr. Walter Kenneth Allen

August 16, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. Walter Kenneth Allen age 57 of 430 Ivey Rd died Thursday at his residence. A funeral service will be at 11:00AM Saturday at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Rev. Glenn McCullen. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.

Mr. Allen was born November 3, 1949 in Johnston County to the late Perry Hurley and Evelyn Chrystelle Holmes Allen. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Perry Hurley Allen, Jr. Mr. Allen was a compound mixer for PGI and a member of the American Legion and the Relief Masonic Lodge of Benson.

Surviving include Lifelong Love, Friend & Fiancée, Jenny Evans of Benson; Sisters, Rebecca Rice and Husband, Ron of Martinsburg, Va., Faye Woodall of Raleigh, Florence Johnson and Husband, Ray of Four Oaks, Sue Jernigan & Husband, Lamar of Yorktown, Va., Barbara Keen & Husband, Harold of Four Oaks, Frances Settle of Raleigh; Sister-in-law, Janet Norris & Husband, Rickie of Four Oaks Several Nieces and Nephews.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Benson, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM Friday.

Mr. Julius “Jule” Everett Barefoot

August 10, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. Julius “Jule” Everett Barefoot age 86 of 2635 Federal Rd. died Friday at his residence. Funeral Services will be 5:00PM Saturday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will the Rev. Ron Gurganis. Entombment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Barefoot was born July 22, 1921 in Johnston County to the late Jasper V. & Susana Adams Barefoot. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Vinson Barefoot. Mr. Barefoot was a retired US Army Master Sergeant, and was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Banner Post 109 American Legion, and attended Elevation United Methodist Church. He also was a barber for over 45 years in Benson.

Surviving include Wife of 58 years, S. Josephine Barefoot; Nieces, Nephews & their Spouses, Keith & Margie Barefoot, Julia B. & Wayne Wall, Clyde & Gail Barefoot, Dianne B. & Charles McLamb, Sharon B. & Bill Burnette, Phil & Teresa Barefoot; and several great Nieces & Nephews.

Family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Elevation United Methodist Church, 5101 Elevation Rd., Benson, NC 27504, or Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church Building Fund, % Phyllis Barefoot, 64 Wood’s Crossroads Rd., Benson, NC 27504.

Mr. James B. Carroll

August 9, 2007

Willow Spring, NC: Mr. James B. Carroll age 78 of 25 Dupree Rd. died Thursday at his residence. A Graveside Service will be 2:00PM Sunday at Savannah Hill Church Cemetery, Dunn. Officiating will be the Rev. Adam English.

Mr. Carroll was born May 31, 1929 in Johnston County to the late Mallie and Hettie Stephenson Carroll. He was also preceded in death by a Granddaughter, Wendy Myers. Mr. Carroll was a retired Farmer and Truck Driver. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving include Wife, Jean Ogburn Carroll; Daughter & Son-In-Law, Donna C. & Donnie Myers of Willow Spring; Sons & Daughter-In-Law, Jerry Carroll, and Greg & Susan Carroll all of Willow Spring; Sisters, Mary C. Williams of Durham and Maybelle Gulley of Garner; Brother, Glenn Carroll of Willow Spring; Granddaughter, Amanda Petty and Grandson, Daniel Carroll.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Benson, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Saturday.

Mr. Judd Lee Young

August 6, 2007

Angier, NC: Mr. Judd Lee Young, age 73, of 916 Ennis Rd. died Monday at his residence. Funeral Services will be 4:00PM Thursday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. R. B. Parrish and Kemp Young. Burial will follow in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Young was born January 22, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Silas R. & Callie Benson Young. He was also preceded in death by a Son, Ronnie M. Young. Mr. Young was a carpenter in the home construction business.

Surviving include Wife, Rosa Rigsbee Young; Daughters & Son-in-Law, Marilyn & J. Rollins Stewart of Clayton, and Doris Jean Gray of Benson; Son & Daughter-in-Law, Donald Lee & Kathy Young of Benson; Sister, Linda Mae Parrish of Benson; Ten Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Benson, from 7:30PM until 9:30PM Wednesday.

Mrs. Eula Herring Barefoot Creech

August 5, 2007

Benson, NC: Mrs. Eula Herring Barefoot Creech, age 88, of 851 Tarheel Rd. died Sunday at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation of Johnston County. A Private Graveside Service for the family will be 10:00AM Wednesday at Old Beulah Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Courtney.

Mrs. Creech was born June 30, 1919 in Harnett County to the late Robert and Elizabeth Hayes Herring. Mrs. Creech was preceded in death by her husbands, Stephen Barefoot and J. Paul Creech; and brothers, James R. Herring and Carl C. Herring. She was a retired waitress and homemaker.

Surviving include Son & Daughter-In-Law, Steve & Becky Barefoot of Benson; Daughters & Son-In-Law, Elizabeth & Jim D’Ambrozio and Melba Grey Holt, both of Mt. Clemmons, MI; Brother, Sherrill Herring of Benson; Sister, Maggie Jackson of Newton Grove; Four Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, and Two Great Great Grandchildren.

Mr. John Edgar Morgan

August 5, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. John Edgar Morgan age 71 of 929 Morgan Rd. died Sunday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Revs. Billy Keene and Hubert Morgan. Burial will follow in the Morgan-Wood Family Cemetery.

Mr. Morgan was born December 22, 1935 in Johnston County to the late James Herman and Lola Lee Morgan. He was a member of Unity Advent Christian Church and served in the US Army. Mr. Morgan had retired in the Custom Cabinet and Furniture Business.

Surviving include Wife, Goldie Wood Morgan; Son, Travis John Morgan of Benson; Step-Son, Ricky Dunn of Linden; Daughter, Tammy Flemming, and husband Mickie of Garner of Garner; Brother, James Howard Morgan of Angier; Sisters, Sara Lee Morgan of Garner, Lilly Frances Marshburn of Garner, Susan Ellen Lee of Benson, and Sylvia McLamb of Dunn; Grandchildren, Hollie Barnette, Jesse Morgan, Lilly Morgan, and Mackenzie Morgan; Step-Grandchildren, Devon Dunn and Zachary Dunn.
