Benson, NC: Mrs. Addie Pearl Jernigan Royal age 86 of 2144 Allen’s Crossroads Rd. died Wednesday at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation of Johnston County. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Revs. Billy Keene and James Wooten. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Royal was born January 10, 1921 in Johnston County to the late Zero and Nancy McLamb Jernigan. She was also preceded in death by her Husband, John Coleman Royal. Mrs. Royal was a homemaker and also had retired from the Cafeteria at South Johnston High School.
Survivors, include Daughters & Sons-In-Law, Alice R. & J.W. Turnage of Four Oaks, Linda R. & Bernice Maynard of Dunn, and Ann R. & Derry Allen of Four Oaks; Son & Daughter-In-Law, J.M. & Edna Royal of Four Oaks; Foster Daughter & Son-In-Law, Betty & Joe Atkinson of Garner; Sisters, Frances J. Hall and Clyda J. Oakley both of Benson; Brother, Z.D. Jernigan of Greensboro, NC; Special Friend & Roommate at Liberty Commons, Brookie Pope; Six Grandchildren, Three Step-Grandchildren, One Foster Granddaughter, and Nine Great Grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Benson, from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Friday, and at other times at the home of Derry & Ann Allen, 1575 Elevation Rd., Four Oaks, NC 27524.
Mr. William Royster “Billy” Creech

Benson – Mr. William Royster “Billy” Creech, age 74, of 272 N. Walden Pond Road died Wednesday at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel. Rev. Ron Gurganus will officiate. Entombment with military honors will follow in Devotional Gardens, Dunn.
Mr. Creech was born September 2, 1932 in Johnston County to the late Waymon and Lois Dupree Creech. He was also preceded in death by a Sister, Rebecca Cobb, and a Brother, Donald Creech. Mr. Creech retired after 24 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer with the U. S. Navy and then served for 9 years with the Benson Police Department and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. He remained as a special deputy through 2005. Mr. Creech was a member of Elevation United Methodist Church.
Survivors include Wife of 38 years, Clara Neighbors Creech; Son & Daughter-in-Law, Eddie & Kristina Creech of Benson; Grandchildren, Taylor Creech and Ashlyn Creech; and Sisters, Clara Wood and Margaret King, both of Coats.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday.

Mr. Lacy Carlyle “Sam” Rabon, Jr.

Gainesville, FL: Mr. Lacy Carlyle “Sam” Rabon, Jr., age 64, formerly of Benson died Saturday. Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Edwards.
Mr. Rabon was born November 30, 1942 in Harnett County to Rosalie Rabon of Benson and the late Lacy Carlyle Rabon, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a son, Eric Marlboro Rabon. Mr. Rabon held a state contractor’s license in HVAC and was the Construction and Maintenance Superintendent at the University of Florida where he was employed for 45 years. He received the Bronze Star Medal for his service in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include Wife of 45 years, Jenny Rabon; Daughters & Sons-in-Law, Lynn & Dr. Douglas Patton of Spartanburg, SC and Gayle & Dr. Jason Kozinski of Gainesville, FL; Grandchildren, Ashleigh, Matthew and Tiffany Patton.

Mr. Sherwood Smith “Snoot” Tart

Benson, NC: Mr. Sherwood Smith “Snoot” Tart, age 78, of 7324 NC Hwy 50 South died Sunday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Capps. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Tart was born March 13, 1929 in Johnston County to the late Earnie Tart & Almeta Smith Tart Kinsey. He was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Tart; and brothers, Robert A. Tart and William R. Tart. Mr. Tart was a farmer and a charter member of the Meadow Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include Wife, Dorothy Blackman Tart; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Jean & Danny Stancil of Smithfield; Son & Daughter-in-Law, Ernie Wayne & Jo Ellen Tart of Dunn; Grandsons, Daniel Tart and Brantley Tart; and Sister, Lyndia Tart of Wingate, NC.

Mrs. Louise Tart McLamb

Benson – Mrs. Louise Tart McLamb, 84, of 1478 Benson-Hardee Road died Sunday at Wake Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Wednesday at Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Revs. Condary Ellis and Curtiss Tatum will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. McLamb was born August 8, 1922 in Johnston County to the late Ira Benton and Hester Jane Tart. She was also preceded in death by Brothers, J. C. Tart, Jack Tart, and Ira Benton Tart, Jr. Mrs. McLamb was a member of Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and was a bookkeeper with J.E. McLamb & Sons.
Survivors include Husband of 65 years, J. E. McLamb; Daughter and Son-In-Law, Brenda & Roy Jones of Kinston; Sons & Daughters-in-Law, Jerry Don & Linda McLamb of Benson, J. B. & Ginny McLamb of Weatherford, TX; Sister, Marguerite T. McLamb of Benson; Brother, Roy W. Tart of Benson; 9 Grandchildren; & 11 Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruby Edna Creech

Benson, NC: Mrs. Ruby Edna Creech, age 91, of Oak Hill Living Center, formerly of Benson died Sunday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Thursday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Joseph Hester. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Creech was born May 5, 1916 in Johnston County to the late George William and Monie Godwin Weeks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Vance Creech. Mrs. Creech was a clothing inspector and a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include Son & Daughter-in-law, Donald & Renate Creech of Columbia, SC; Sister, Vera Lee Langdon of Surf City; Brothers, Bill Weeks of Fyffe, Al, and Weldon Weeks of Benson; Four Grandchildren & Spouses, Crystel Creech, Diane Creech, Yvonne C. & Scott Crosby, and Jason & Emily Creech; and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Joe C. Barbour

Mr. Jephenneh Caleb (Joe) Barbour age 80 of Benson died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Thursday at Elevation United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Ron Gurganus. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Barbour was born January 8, 1927 in Johnston County to the late Ben Harvey and Lucy Creech Barbour. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte B. Johnson and Donna Louise B. Byrnes; and brother, H. Carlton Barbour. Mr. Barbour was a partner in B. H. Barbour & Sons Housemovers, Inc., a third-generation family-owned business. Along with his brother Carlton, he helped to found the North Carolina Housemovers Association. Mr. Barbour was a life-long member of Elevation United Methodist Church. He was also a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Banner Post 109 American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Grace Adams Barbour; daughter, Jennie J. Barbour of Chapel Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Steve C. and Teresa M. Barbour and grandchildren, Elizabeth Sumter and William Miller Barbour, all of Charlotte; sisters, Elizabeth B. Barefoot of Lewisville and Lana Sue B. Desota of Dunn.

Mr. Martin L. “Junior” Marler, Jr.

Newton Grove: Mr. Martin L. “Junior” Marler, Jr., age 76, of 1717 Barefoot Road died Wednesday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Frank Sandy and Clayton Sutton. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Marler was born on May 16, 1931 to the late Martin L. Marler, Sr. and Swannie Tart Marler. He was also preceded in death by Sisters, Lena Berry and Estelle Gainey, and Brother, James Marler. Mr. Marler was a farmer and member of Hood’s Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his Wife: Genette McLamb Marler, Son & Daughter-in-law: Mark & Heather D. Marler of Newton Grove, Sisters, Ruby Marler of Newton Grove, Marvis Moore of Newton Grove, Shirley Anderson of Clifton Forge, VA, and Nellie Jackson of Clinton; and several Nieces & Nephews.

Mr. Jimmie Thomas Vaughn

Coats – Mr. Jimmie Thomas Vaughn, 73, of 344 S. Church Street died Thursday evening at Duke Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Monday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats. Revs. Jesse Mooney and Tom Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Coats City Cemetery in Coats.
Mr. Vaughn was born November 28, 1933 in Greenville County, South Carolina to the late Ihrie Raynor Vaughn Wiggins. He retired from PPG, Ditzler Division, after 30 years of service. He was a member of Coats Lions Club, Harnett County Shag Association and attended Coats Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife, Betty M. Vaughn; Daughter and Son-In-Law, Jennifer and Tim Layn of Coats; Brothers, John Wiggins and Eddie Vaughan both of Coats; Three Grandchildren, Rachel Fuhrer, David Fuhrer, and Ella Layn.
Flowers are welcome; however, memorials may be made to the Grandchildren’s Educational Fund, c/o First-Citizens Bank or the Harnett County Area Shag Association.
