Mrs. Myrtle Herring Allen

March 15, 2007

Benson– Mrs. Myrtle Herring Allen, age 81, of 871 Ivey Road, died Thursday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. Rodney Brittain. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.

Mrs. Allen was born August 18, 1925 in Dillon, SC, to the late Reddin and Lula Johnson Herring. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Naion Allen; and a son, Jimmie D. Allen. Mrs. Allen was a seamstress at Block Industries and was a homemaker. She was a member of Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church and a member of Banner Post 109 American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Survivors include Daughter & Son-in-Law, Janice & Johnny Lee of Dunn; Sisters, Sara Mae Cashion of Charlotte and Libby Barfield of Dillon, SC; Grandchildren & Spouse, Angie L. & Reid Wood and Bradley Allen Lee; Great Grandchildren, Ashton Reid Wood & Anslee John Wood.

Family will receive friends at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Friday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorial may be made to Hannah’s Creek Sunday School, c/o Ronnie Johnson, 307 South Market Street, Benson, NC 27504.

Mrs. Elma Ruth Jackson Jernigan

March 15, 2007

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Elma Ruth Jackson Jernigan, age 79, died Thursday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital. Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Harnett Devotional Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Don Davis.

Mrs. Jernigan was born June 8, 1927 in Johnston County to the late Herman and Nattie Carter Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Malcom Rayvon Jernigan. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and was an interior decorator.

Surviving include Daughter & Son-in-Law, Brenda & Kent Wilburn of Coats; Son & Daughter-in-Law, Glenn & Gail Tyndall of Dunn; Sister, Clara Sills of Dunn; 6 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; and Several Nieces & Nephews.

The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats 9:30AM to 10:30AM Saturday prior to the graveside service.

Mr. William “Bill” Perry Creech

March 13, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. William “Bill” Perry Creech, age 80, of 377 Pollard Circle died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Friday at Friendship Baptist Church. Officiating will be Revs. Randy Wall, James McLean and John Creech. Burial will follow in Fellowship Community Cemetery.

Mr. Creech was born on August 8, 1926 in Duplin County to the late Joshua Eli and Gladys Guy Creech. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Oscar Creech and James Creech. Mr. Creech was a retired Greyhound bus driver and was a salesman with Bobby Murray Chevrolet and J & M Chevy. He served as President of the Local Greyhound Union, served in the U. S. Navy and was in the Normandy Invasion. Mr. Creech was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include Wife, Daisy Honeycutt Creech; Daughter, Gayle C. Helms of Benson; Step-Daughter & Husband, Stephanie and Shane Hudson of Four Oaks; Step-Son, Stephen Webb of Four Oaks; Sister, Daisy Rowland of Augusta, GA; Brothers, Robert Creech of Willow Spring, Ed Creech of Biloxi, MS, and John Creech of Smyrna, GA; Sister-in-Law, Anne R. Creech of Henderson; Grandchildren, Sydney Helms and Adam Helms; Step-Grandchildren, Michaela Hudson and Kristen Hudson; and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Home, Health & Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Thursday 7:00PM to 9:00PM.

Mrs. Martha Jeanette McLamb

March 13, 2007

Benson – Mrs. Martha Jeanette McLamb, 73, of 816 Adams Rd, died Tuesday morning at her residence. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 2 PM at Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church. Officiating will be Revs. Doug Abel and Michael Whitley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. McLamb was born July 23, 1933 in Harnett County to the late John William and Nellie McLamb McLamb. Mrs. McLamb was a homemaker and a member of Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by a Daughter, Sharon Ann McLamb.

Survivors include, Husband, William Sherrill McLamb; Daughter, Deborah McLamb Ray of Benson; Sister, Carolyn McLamb Hair of Benson; Brother, William Roy McLamb of Knightdale; Two Grandchildren and Spouses, Johnathan Neil and Christy Ray of Cleveland, Jessica Lane Ray and Chris Holder of Dunn; Seven Great-Grandchildren, Brittany Holder, Jessica Holder, Jennifer Holder, Ethan Holmes, Dylan Coats, Makayla Coats, Samantha Holder; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Family will receive friends at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Wednesday evening from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and other times at the home.

Mr. Wade Bennett Overcash

March 11, 2007

Benson – Mr. Wade B. Overcash, 85, of 5778 Elevation Road, died Sunday at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday, Mar.14, 2007, at 11 AM at Harnett Devotional Gardens with Military Honors. Rev. Mark Yates will officiate.

Mr. Overcash was born June 12, 1921 in Sampson County to the late William and Mattie Belle Blackmon Overcash. Mr. Overcash was a floor installer for R. L. Dresser Company and served our country in the US Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Doris Overcash.

Survivors include, Daughters, Sylvia O. Strickland of Benson, Jennifer Overcash of Stanfield; Four Grandchildren; Samantha O. Byrd, Bennett Lynn Byrd, Dana Byrd Foster and April Byrd Bass; Nine Great-Grandchildren, One Great-Great Grandson; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Heather Michelle Moore

March 8, 2007

Four Oaks, NC: Miss Heather Michelle Moore age 16 of Allen’s Crossroads Road died Thursday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday at Stewart’s Chapel Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Freddie Wayne Langston. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Church Cemetery, Benson.

Miss Moore was born on September 11, 1990 to Cheryl Moore of Four Oaks, and Timothy Moore of Benson. Miss Moore was a student and member of Stewart’s Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Miss Moore was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandfather Frank Tunstall and Maternal Grandmother Barbara Gregory

In addition to her parents she is survived by Maternal Step Grandmother, Sandra Tunstall of Four Oaks, Paternal Grandparents Mack & Mable Moore of Benson. Several Uncles & Aunts, Terry & Debbie Moore of Four Oaks, Sue & Jimmy Evans of Littleton, NC, John West & Sherry Jernigan of Clayton, Helen Cooke of Four Oaks . Several Cousins, Scott Barefoot, Graci Barefoot, Valerie Turnage, Jessica Moore, Bland Turnage, and Eric & Dustin Jernigan. Many Special Friends.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Tuesday 7:00PM-9:00PM and other times at the homes of Sandra Tunstall 1409 Allen’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524 & Mack & Mable Moore 100 Helms Dogwood Road, Benson, NC 27504.

M. Shane Parrish

March 9, 2007

Dunn – Michael Shane Parrish, 35, of 1086 Tilghman Road, died Friday Night. He was a native of Harnett County, born January 28, 1972. He was a lawn maintenance worker.

Graveside funeral services will be Monday, Mar.12, 2007, at 11 AM at Coats City Cemetery. Rev. Richard McKeel will officiate.

Survivors include, Mother, Sandra Parrish Coats of Dunn, Brother& Sister-in-law, Bill & Laura Parrish of Dunn, Maternal Grandparents, Roy & Lottie Nordan of Benson and Nephews, Blake & Andrew Parrish. He was preceded in death by his Father, Billy Parrish, Paternal Grandparents, Judd & Willie Mae Parrish, Step-father, Landis R. Coats.

The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6 to 8 PM Sunday and at the home of Bill & Laura Parrish, 1120 Tilghman Road, Dunn, NC, at other times.

Mr. Garner Rose Ennis

March 6, 2007

Coats, NC: Mr. Garner Rose Ennis age 78 of 444 E. Stewart St. died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Friday at the Coats Baptist Church in Coats. Officiating will be the Rev. Jesse Mooney. Burial will follow in the Coats City Cemetery.

Mr. Ennis was horn May 10, 1928 in Johnston County to the late Calvin & Maude Rose Ennis. He was preceded in death by Sisters, Gladys Earnshaw, Pearl Stephenson, and Lucille Stephenson. He was a retired textile employee of 46 years with Erwin Mills and was a member of the Coals Baptist Church.

Surviving are Wife, Doris Faye Ennis who retired after 17 years with Belk’s in Dunn; Daughter & Son in-Law, Cavanna E. & Chuck Hamilton of Hope Mills; Sons & Daughter-In-Laws, Michael Ennis of Emerald Isle, Edwin G. & Sheila Ennis and Jayson B. & Wendy Ennis both of Dunn; Brother, Rudolph Ennis of Coats;

Ten Grandchildren and Seven Great-Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats, 7:00PM to 9:00PM Thursday evening and at other times at the home.

Flowers are welcomed however memorials may be made to the Coats Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 297 Coats, NC 27521.

Mrs. Bessie Phillips Hayes

March 4, 2007

Coats, NC: Mrs. Bessie Phillips Hayes age 65 of 908 Ebenezer Church Rd. died Sunday at her residence. Funeral Services will be 1:00PM Wednesday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats. Officiating will be the Revs. Sherrill Pope and Ron Godwin. Burial will follow in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hayes was born September 23, 1941 in Sampson County to the late Jesse Marvin and Annie Lou House Phillips. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by a Daughter, Wanda Lee, a Son, Haywood Westbrook, and a Sister, Thelma Jernigan. She was a retired textile employee and homemaker. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Community Chapel Church.

Surviving are Husband, Billy Hayes; Daughter& Son-In-Law, Elizabeth & Steve Davis of Coats; Sons & Daughters-In-Law, James & Chris Lee of Georgia, and William & Robin Hayes, Jr. of Coats; Sisters, Cora Phillips and Annie Mae Stone both of Coats; Brother, Jesse Allen Phillips of Dunn; Seven Grandchildren, Four Step-Grandchildren, One Great Grandson, and Three Step Great Grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Tuesday

Mrs. Alma B. Johnson Register

February 27, 2007

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Alma Bryant Register age 102 of 2159 Hobson Rd. died Tuesday after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Hayes. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.

Mrs. Register was born February 1, 1905 in Sampson County to the late Claude and Iva Byrd Bryant. She was a Homemaker. Mrs. Register was a member of New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for 75 years, and played the piano when able to attend, up to the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cornelius Johnson and Robert Register, a Son, Wiley C. Johnson; Sisters, Bertie Thompson, Katie Thornton, Lela Tew, Ludie Hayes, Ethel Bryant, and Mary Smith; Brothers, Milton Bryant, Marvin Bryant, Ammie Bryant, Robert Bryant, and Gethro Bryant; and a Granddaughter, Connie West.

Surviving are Daughters & Sons-In-Laws, Ethel West of Dunn, Myrtle & Richard Moore of Durham; Eloise & Charles Adams of Clayton, Barbara & Loyied Norris of Raleigh, Judy & James Haney of Dunn; a Daughter-In-Law, Mary Lou Johnson of Dunn; Sons & Daughters-In-Laws, Ira B. & Flora Johnson of Syracuse, NY, Luther D. & Mavis Johnson of Southport, FL, Louis M. & Jean Johnson of Venice, FL, and James C. Johnson of Dunn; Brother, Howard Bryant of Dunn; 26 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Great- Grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday and at the home of Judy Haney, 2159 Hobson Road, Dunn, NC 28334.
