Earl Quincy Ray, 64, of Jamaica, N.Y., formerly of Newton Grove, died Friday in Jamaica.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Church Cemetery, Dunn, by Elders Henry Gerald and Leroy Smith.
Survivors include a son, Dennis McNeill of Dunn; stepmother, Mary Ray of Dunn; four sisters, Helen Langston of Benson, Vader Stewart of Dunn, Macie Lewis of San Francisco, Calif., and Ethel Blue of Wilmington, Del.; a brother, Sandy Ray of Long Island, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
The public will be received Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn.
George E. Thomas
Died: 12-14-2001
George Ervin Thomas, 77, of 305 Phil Johnson Road, Sanford, died Friday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Mr. Thomas was a first sergeant in the Army during World War II and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was a member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Stanley McLeod Post.
A graveside service was held Sunday in Lee Memory Gardens by the Rev. Alfred Kimbel.
Survivors are his wife, Erlene J. Thomas of the home; one son, Ronald “Ron” Thomas of Sanford; four sisters, Jean McDowell of Sanford, Mary A. Howard of Olivia, and Magalene Cameron and Elsie Loenard, both of Greensboro; and one grandchild.

William M. Williford

Retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. William Martin “Bill” Williford, 72, of 2208 Wingate Road, Fayetteville, died Friday.
Mr. Williford was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church and the Retired Military Association of Fayetteville. He was in the Marines for 22 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Williford also retired from Kmart.
The funeral was held this morning Cumberland Baptist Church by Pastor Rick Anderson. Burial was in the Spring Branch Church cemetery in Dunn.
Mr. Williford is survived by his wife, Louise T. Williford of the home; one son, Edward M. Williford of Hope Mills; three daughters, Barbara J. Williford of Hope Mills and Cynthia J. Niquiporo and Deborah L. Williford both of Fayetteville; one stepdaughter, Jeannine Brewington of Godwin; three brothers, Clifford Williford of Clinton, Joseph E. Williford of Garner and James L. Williford of Dunn; five sisters, Edna W. Matthews of Autryville, Dora W. Pla of Raleigh, Ruth W. Fowler of Knightdale, Maryann W. Ritenour of Derry, Pa. and Cynthia W. “Linda” Chestnutt of Clinton; and 11 grandchildren.

Riley Sankey Evans, 73, of Clarkton, died Friday.
Mr. Evans was a retired farmer and general contractor.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Margaret Evans of the home; three daughters, Debbie Sherrill of Carolina Beach, Rosemary Miller of Leland and Florence Johnson of Willow Springs; two sons, Riley Evans Jr. of Clarkton and Robert Evans of Raleigh; four brothers, Jasper Evans of Charlotte, Johnny Evans of Durham, Alva Evans of Mount Gilead and Edger Evans of Bladenboro; four sisters, Doris Danella of Sunset Beach, Margaret Pigford of Bladenboro, Betsy Dorton of Huntersville and Nancy Watson of Cary; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
