MARY NATALENE WILKERSON
RALEIGH - Mary Natalene Wilkerson, 80, of 621 Brighton Road, died Monday at Rex Hospital. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Longview Baptist Church where she was a charter member and deacon. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving are her son, Michael Wilkerson and his wife, Laura Lee of Chapel Hill; daughter-in-law, Linda Wilkerson of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kim Smith of Apex, Michael James Wilkerson of Chapel Hill; one great-grandchild, Jessica Smith of Apex.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther W. Wilkerson and a son, James W. Wilkerson.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's Street, (828-4311) from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Longview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2308 New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27604 or to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC 27605.3

ALEXANDER BOYD ANDREWS III
RALEIGH - Funeral service for Brigadier General Alexander Boyd Andrews III, 86, of 2513 Lewis Farm Road, will be at Church of the Good Shepherd at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 1999. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, a favorite family charity would be for research to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 208, Raleigh, N.C. 27605.

LOIS WINFREY CHAPPELL
NASHVILLE - Lois Winfrey Chappell, 81, died Monday, March 8, 1999. She was born January 26, 1918 in Waycross, GA. She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church.
Surviving: son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Inis Chappell of Wrightsville Beach, NC; grandson, Brian Chappell of Raleigh; granddaughter, Jessica Chappell of Nashville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Chappell, Sr., a son Ronnie Chappell and a grandson, Evan Chappell.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Coggin officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Johnson Chapel, Nashville and other times at the home, 403 Clark Circle, Nashville.

ELMER R. DOWDY
HILLSBOROUGH - Mr. Elmer R. Dowdy, 84, 108 E. Orange Street, died Wednesday, March 9, in UNC Hospitals. He was born in Harbinger, located in Currituck County, NC.
Mr. Dowdy was a teacher for 20 years in agriculture at Hillsboro High School and distributive education at Northern High School in Durham County until retirement. After retirement, he became an award winning regional manager of World Book Encyclopedia until age 80. Mr. Dowdy was a naval veteran of WWII having served in the South Pacific Theater. He was an alumni and supporter of NC State University. Mr. Dowdy was a member of the Lions Club, the American Legion and the 40 & 8.
Surviving are his wife, Jaxie Temple Dowdy; one daughter, Judy Carol Dowdy Aikin, Hillsborough; one son, Jack Daniels Dowdy, and his wife, Janet Dowdy, Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Jessica T. Dowdy, Raleigh, Brian S. Aikin, Wilmington, and Brad D. Aikin, Chesapeake, VA.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hillsborough United Methodist Church by the Rev. Herman Ward. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday in Walker's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hillsborough United Methodist Church.
Elmer R. Dowdy touched many lives in a very positive way and will always be remembered as a friend and mentor. He is dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

JENNIFER "JENNY" EASON
WAKE FOREST - Jennifer Lynn "Jenny" Eason, 17, of 1608 Cameron Drive, died Monday March 8, 1999 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, March 11, 1999 in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her parents, Brenda and L.W. "Woody" Eason; sister, Renee E. Weber of Wilmington; brother, EM1 (SW) Lelon W. Eason Jr., USN and his wife, Beverly of Youngsville; grandparents, Pauline B. Wiggins of Clinton, Myrtle Stancil Eason of Wilson; nieces, Bianca' Christian Eason, Lauren Renee Weber and Meredith Elizabeth Eason; sister-in-law, Crystal Catlett.
She walked in beauty, like the night of cloudless climbs and starry skies and all that is best of dark and bright meets in her aspect and in her eyes. But tell of the days in goodness spent now lives a mind of peace with all below a heart whose love is innocent. Jenny will fly on the wings of God forever and be in our hearts forever. From her sisters and brothers.
The family will receive friends at Bright Funeral Home from 7-8:30 Wednesday evening.

LLOYD R. FORTNEY
DURHAM - Professor Lloyd Ray Fortney, died Sunday, March 7, 1999 at Duke Hospital at the age of 62.
Born in Enid, Oklahoma, he was the son of John Franklin Fortney and Blanche Hazel Terrell Fortney. Dr. Fortney was educated at New Mexico State University, and the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he received a Ph.D in physics. At the time of his death, he was a professor of physics at Duke University where his work focused on high energy, subatomic particle physics. He was a respected teacher as well as the author of many scientific articles and an electronics textbook.
Lloyd Fortney was an avid gardener and dry fly fisherman who traveled widely pursuing these interests. He developed a web-site (https://www.phy.duke.edu/~fortney/) where he shared with the world his love for physics, gardening, fishing and family.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Taylor Fortney; daughter, Emma Fortney of Boston, MA; son and daughter-in-law, John and Stacy Fortney of Little Rock, AR; brother, Floyd Fortney of Douglas, OK; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Don Wilcox of Issaqah, WA.
A memorial service and reception will be held 4 p.m. Friday at the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (919-489-2575), 4907 Garrett Road, Durham, NC.

MYRA GODFREY FRAZELLE
FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Myra Godfrey Frazelle, 79, of 335 Wagoner Drive, died on Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Mrs. Frazelle was the daughter of the late Mr. Colton Alexander Godfrey and Mrs. Laurane Joyner Godfrey of Sanford in Lee County.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charley J. Frazelle; sons, Charles W. Frazelle of Raleigh, David B. Frazelle of Fayetteville; daughter, Marsha F. Bertholf of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Sarah Gay Godfrey of Sanford; brother, William H. Godfrey of Raleigh; six grandchildren.
Mrs. Frazelle was a graduate in home economics from East Carolina Teachers College, a homemaker, and a long-time member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Wilmington, more recently, Haymount United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Haymount United Methodist Church. Rev. Carl King will conduct the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 35752, Fayetteville, NC, 28303-0752 or to the United Methodist Women c/o Haymount United Methodist Church, 1700 Ft. Bragg Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28305.

AMANDA B. HANCOCK
ROBBINS - Mrs. Amanda B. Hancock, 90, died Monday, March 8, 1999 at Alamance Medical Center in Burlington. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Glendon Christian Church conducted by Rev. Bob Yandle, Rev. T.M. Frye and Rev. Jack Phillips. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Bladen County and a retired piano teacher in the Moore County Schools. She was daughter of the late Charles A. and Amelia Elkins Baldwin and the wife of the late Rev. William Hancock.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hancock and a son the Rev. Eugene M. Hancock.
Surviving are four sons, William E. "Bill" Hancock of Wilmington, Dr. James B. "Jim" Hancock of Fayetteville, Dr. W. Frank Hancock, Jr. of Burlington, John C. Hancock of Hamlet; sisters, Delphia Bullock of Fairmont, Grace Baldwin of Clarkton; brother, Rev. Conrad Baldwin of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.
Memorials may be made to Glendon Christian Church, Glendon, NC 27251.

JEROME COLLINS HARRINGTON
RALEIGH - Jerome Collins Harrington, 68, of London England, died March 7, 1999 at his residence in Morrisville, NC. Mr. Harrington served as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his stepson Frederick Pierson and his family of Cary, NC.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.

DR. WILLIAM ANDREW KELLEY
RALEIGH - Dr. William A. Kelley, 44, of Cary, died Sunday, March 7, 1999.
Dr. Kelley was a graduate of Woodward Academy in College Park, GA, East Tennessee State University (undergraduate and graduate school) Medical College of Charleston, SC, and Clevelend Chiropractic College in Kansas City, MO. He practiced in Cary.
He is survived by his parents, Paul B. and Josephine Walker Kelley of Fayetteville; three sons, Andrew Turner Kelley and William Evan Kelley, both of Nashville, TN, and Joseph Alexander Kelley of South Haven, MS; a daughter, Georgia Brooke Kelley of South Haven, MS; a brother, Paul B. Kelley, Jr. of Wake Forest; and maternal grandmother, Stella Walker, of Chattanooga, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, in Chattanooga, TN. Burial will be in Lafayette Cemetery in Lafayetta, GA.

CATHERINE PINER PASTERCHICK
CARY - Catherine Piner Pasterchick, 82, of Cary, died Sunday, March 7, 1999 at her home. Mrs. Pasterchick is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Pasterchick, Sr.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Cary Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Pasterchick is survived by her son, Harry Pasterchick, Jr. and his wife, Joanece Pasterchick of Raleigh; beloved granddaughter, Nicole Pasterchick of Raleigh; sisters, Gladys Nicely of Staunton, VA, Loretta Perkins of Craigsville, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Dennie.

ZEB "WALLACE" PRICE
GARNER - Zeb "Wallace" Price, 73 of 103 Brims Way, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999 at Wake Medical Center. Mr. Price had retired as a bus driver with Raleigh City Coach with over 21 years of service. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 1999 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.
Surviving: wife, Lou Rhodes Soward Price; daughter, Brenda P. Currie of Cary; stepsons, Royal Soward of Garner, George Soward of Cary, Granger Soward of Carolina Beach; grandchildren, Steven Ray Currie, Stephanie Ruth Currie; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris P. Garner of Knightdale.

ELMA HARRELSON REGAN
CLARKTON - Elma Harrelson Regan 77, died Mon., March 8, 1999 at her home. Mrs. Regan was a graduate of Worth's Business College and worked as a secretary in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Alexander Regan Jr. and son, William Patrick Regan.
Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at White's Creek Baptist Church. Burial, church cemetery,
Surviving: daughter, Elaine Regan Steinbeck and husband, Steve of Cary; son, Robert Regan of Elizabethtown; sister, Fleta Harrelson of Elizabethtown; grandson, Joey Steinbeck of Cary.

HELEN J. SIMONSON
APEX - Helen J. Simonson, 84, died Monday morning, March 8th at home, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Simonson had resided in Apex for the past five years. Previously she had been a long-time resident of Yardley, PA.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 13th, at 11 a.m., in St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex. A graveside committal service will be held in the St. Ignatius Catholic Church Cemetery, in Yardley, PA, at a later date.
Mrs. Simonson was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Anthony J. Simonson.
She is survived by three daughters, Sarah Helen Seubel and husband Jeff of Ponte Vedre Beach, FL, Suzanne S. Edney and husband Edward of Apex, and Helen Jean Cheely and husband G. Ray of Raleigh; a son, Joseph Anthony Simonson, Sr. and wife Susan of S. Boston, VA, 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Local funeral arrangements are with Apex Funeral Directors, Inc., 511 W. Williams St. (Hwy. 55) in Apex.
