Mrs. Mary Campbell Bare age 81 of Crumpler, NC died Friday, February 5, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Bare was born February 8, 1928 in Trenton, NJ to the late Anthony and Catherine Bolz Fabrizio. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a son, Elwood Webb Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home.

Ted Austin Lyalls
Ted Austin Lyalls age 43, of Jefferson, NC died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in Charlotte. Mr. Lyalls was born on August 21, 1966 in Ashe County, NC to the late Roy and Doris Wallace Lyalls. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and truck driving. He was a very giving person and a friend to everyone he met. Ted always loved to tell everyone his trucking stories. He was a very proud father to his daughter Brittany. He was a loving father, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bristol Baptist Church by Rev. Shane Golds and Rev. Billy Joe Blevins. Burial will follow in the Wallace cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Lyalls is survived by: Daughter - Brittany Lyalls of West Jefferson, NC, Sister - Maude Goodman and husband Rev. Chris of Jefferson, NC, Niece - Amanda Goodman of Jefferson, NC, also surviving are several aunts uncles and cousins.

Joe Allen Turner
Mr. Joe Allen Turner, age 71of Warrensville, NC died Friday, January 29, 2010 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Turner was born July 25, 1938 in Ashe County to the late Joseph and Elzie Perkins Turner. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters: Ilene Poe and Irene Turner. Mr. Turner attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. He loved working on the farm and in the garden. He loved getting together with his family and going to church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 1, 2010 at Oak Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Tommy Dollar, Rev. Thomas Russell and Rev. George Grubb. Burial will follow in the Turner cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, January 31st. at Badger Funeral Home.

Ruby Graham Hill
Mrs. Ruby Graham Hill, age 86 of Winston Salem, NC died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson after her battle with cancer. She was born March 29, 1923 in Lansing, NC to Noah and Ola Graham. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Hill of Germanton and sisters; Ola Ann Dollar of west Jefferson and Nora Ray of Fayetteville. Mrs. Hill graduated from Lansing High School, Draughon Business College and San Fransisco State College. She spent most of her secretarial and office management career in Baltimore, MD and San Francisco, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Herb Parunak. Burial will follow in the Graham cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.
Mrs. Hill is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret Bare Ritchey
Mrs. Margaret Bare Ritchey age 70 of Lansing, NC died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Ritchey was born in Ashe County on November 1, 1939 to the late John and Sarah Jane Bare. She worked in retail sale for Dillard’s Department Store. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Rascal. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson Ben Ritchey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 1:00pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and Rev. Tim Roten. Burial will follow in the Roans Creek cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday, January 25, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home.

Mr. Darrell Elmer Blevins, age 67 of Roanoke, VA, formerly of Ashe County, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at his home. Mr. Blevins was born December 8, 1942 in Ashe County to the late Calvin “Boss” and Grace Blevins.

Zell Reed Ballou
Mrs. Zell Reed Ballou, age 76, of Kannapolis, NC died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Avante Care Center in Concord, NC. Mrs. Ballou was born October 8, 1933 in Ashe County to the late William and Virgie Carson Reed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Rhodes. Burial will follow in the McMillian Reed cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the service.

James Poole
Mr. James Franklin Poole, age 77 of Richmond, VA died Friday, January 15, 2010 at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Poole was born May 13, 1932 in Richmond, VA to the late George and Thelma Gordon Poole. Mr. Poole served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a 1953 graduate of Medical College of VA. He attended Discovery United Methodist Church and was a retired pharmacist for 50 years.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Pleasant Home Baptist Church cemetery by Rev. Billy Joe Blevins.

Roberta Stokes
Roberta Evelyn Stokes, age 72 of Lansing, North Carolina died Monday, January 11, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Stokes was born June 30, 1937 in Johnstown, PA to the late Robert and Evelyn Adams Nancollas. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Edwards and a son, Doug Edwards.

Walter Ray Neaves

Walter Ray Neaves, 76, Whitsett, North Carolina, formerly of North East, Maryland, and born in Lansing, North Carolina, died January 11, 2010, after bravely battling a long illness. Mr. Neaves retired from Chrysler Corporation, Newark, Delaware, in the fall of 1989. Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church of North East, Maryland, for many years before moving to North Carolina in 2005. Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and spoiling his two grand-children.
Mr. Neaves is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Martha “Evelyn” Watson Neaves, Whitsett, NC; two daughters, Sandra Kay Neaves, Whitsett, NC and Debra Ann Neaves Ward, North East, MD; two grand-children, Adam Tyler Ward and Courtney Nicole Ward, both of North East, MD. Mr. Neaves is also survived by one brother, James Neaves of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and one sister, Betty Halsey of Murrells Inlet, SC; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Neaves was pre-deceased by his parents, Roger and Grace Adams Neaves and a brother, Jack Neaves, all of Lansing, NC.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 15, 2010, at Badger Funeral Home, 300 North Main Street, West Jefferson, NC 28694, from 6 – 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to your local Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.

Sarah "Sally" Ashley
Mrs. Sarah Ashley, better known as Sally age 77 of Warrensville, NC died Monday, January 11, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Ashley was born November 4, 1932 in Ashe County to the late John and Lenna Pennington Burkett. She was a proud member of the First Baptist Church, where she was active in the WMU, the choir and the Grace McGrady Sunday School class. She retired after 36 years of service form United Chemi-Con. She enjoyed quilting, singing, cooking and reading. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 15, 2010 at the First Baptist Church by Rev. Ken Morris and Rev. Michael Lea. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 14th at Badger Funeral Home.
