Royhl Ebert
Royhl Birks Ebert, 49, Laguna Beach, Calif., formerly of Bismarck, died April 11, 1997, in Laguna Beach. Memorial services will be Nov. 29, 1997, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Louise Ebert, Scottsdale; one brother, Brock, Sioux Falls, S.D.; one sister, Heidi Dockter, Eden Prairie, Minn.; and his grandmother, Ellen Ebert, Huron, S.D.

Hulda Kosanke
Hulda Kosanke, 88, formerly of Bismarck, died April 19, 1997, in an American Falls, Idaho, nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Kermit Culver, Sam Graff and George Reese officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Hulda was born Feb. 5, 1909, in Fredonia, the daughter of Gottlieb and Theresia (Janz) Fercho. She married Albert Kosanke, Jan. 8, 1931, in Wishek. They farmed there until 1952, moving in the fall to Bismarck. He preceded her in death in 1975. Hulda moved to Idaho in 1977. She had a strong Christian faith and sang for 68 years in the church choir.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Arlys and Vernon Mayer, American Falls, Berniece ``Bee" McKinsey, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Corinne ``Cory" and George Reese, Mainevill, Ohio; two sisters, Esther Stebner, Bismarck, and Ruth Pfau, Wishek; six grandchildren, John Mayer, Melanie Sprague, Antonia Jensen, and Kirsten, Christopher and Katrina Reese; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Nicholas Mayer.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Emanuel Fercho.

Mary Muscha
HARVEY -- Mary P. Muscha, 65, Harvey, died of cancer, April 21, 1997, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Matthew, Minnetonka, Minn.; one daughter, Marlene Muscha Taylor, Lanark, Ill.; one sister, Esther Brandt, Lodi, Calif.; and one brother, Jerry Bender, Surrey. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Allan Berg
Allan A. Berg, 59, Mandan, died April 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Allan was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Minneapolis, the son of Carl and Gay (Suchy) Berg. He grew up south of Mandan and attended rural schools there. He graduated from Mandan High School in 1956. He attended Wahpeton School of Science for two years in auto body repair. He returned to Mandan and worked for Geiger Body Shop and Chase Chevrolet. He served in the North Dakota National Guard from 1960-1962. In 1961, he opened Berg's Body Shop and Radiator Repair. He started Berg's Towing in 1962 and operated a towing service for more than 35 years. In 1975, he started D.S.S.T. and Aabco Leasing and Trucking. He designed and built his own tow trucks. In the 1960s he raced stock cars in the Bismarck area and volunteered many hours for the Dacotah Speedway. He received a special service award from Dacotah Speedway in 1995. He enjoyed attending national towing conventions. He received the Technical Innovation Award.

He was a member of Mandan Eagles, American Legion, First Lutheran Church and North and South Dakota Towing Association. In 1964, he married Marlys Guenther at New Leipzig.

He is survived by his wife, Marlys; one daughter, Michelle Berg, and her fiance, Jeff Muth, Mandan; two sons, David and Daren, and his fiance, Michele Hackman, all of Mandan; one grandson, Logan Berg, Mandan; and his mother, Gay Slezak, Mandan.

Eugene Sasse
BEULAH -- Eugene R. Sasse, 79, Beulah, died March 30, 1997, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST today at Zion Lutheran church, Beulah, with the Rev. Reinhold Markwart officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Eugene was born April 27, 1917, at Zap, a son of Wilhelm and Theresa (Hinsz) Sasse. He was raised and educated near Zap. On Oct. 9, 1936, he married Emma Sailer at Zap. They farmed three miles north of Zap until May 1950, when they moved to a farm east of Beulah. In June 1975 they retired and moved to Beulah where they have since lived.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, and a previous member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap. Eugene enjoyed farming, carpentry, spending time with his family and playing cards and Aggravation.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Marlene, Beulah; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and LeRoy Goetz, Flasher; eight grandchildren, Cheryl Weidner, Steven ``Butch" Sasse, Kevin Sasse and Lori Yeager, all of Beulah, Annette Horning, Dallas, Devin Goetz, Mandan, Gina (Goetz) Padilla, Ralston, Pa., and Sheila Goetz, Bismarck; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emelia Hoffman, Great Falls, Mont.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darrel; one great-grandson, Jackson Weidner; three brothers; and three sisters. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)

Alice Wentz
JAMESTOWN -- Alice Wentz, 87, Jamestown, died March 31, 1997, in the Jamestown nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Streeter, with the Rev. Grant Piehl officiating. Burial will be in Streeter Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Haut Funeral Home, Gackle, where a prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Alice Rau was born Dec. 9, 1909, on the family farm southwest of Streeter, the daughter of Fred and Magdalina (Raile) Rau. She attended local rural schools where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood. She and Art Wentz were married Oct. 20, 1936, at Napoleon. They made their home 14 miles southwest of Streeter where they farmed until their retirement in 1968. They moved to Bismarck where she did house cleaning and babysitting. She entered Gackle Care Center in 1994, and Hi Acres Manor in 1996.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bismarck.

She is survived by her husband, Art; one brother, Dwight Rau, Napoleon; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Clara Weixel, Bismarck, and Verna and Adam Kirschenmann, Jamestown; two sisters-in-law, Lenora Rau, Jamestown, and Eldena Rau, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Junior Deavy
REEDER -- Junior Deavy, 68, Reeder, died March 31, 1997, in the Hettinger nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hettinger, with burial in Hettinger Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Angie; one son, John, Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters, Cindi Deavy, Dickinson, Tammy Huether, Belfield, and Gina Feist, Everett, Wash.; his mother, Ingel Deavy, Hettinger; and two sisters, Vita Kok and Isabel Howe, both of Hettinger. (Walby Chapel, Hettinger)

LaDyne Sedevie
BOWMAN -- LaDyne Kay Sedevie, 42, Fargo, formerly of Bowman, died April 1, 1997, in Bowman. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her mother, Ethel Sedevie, Bowman; two sisters, Lynda Arithson, Bowman, and Lynette Schaefer, Rhame; one brother, Loren, Rapid City, S.D. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

Rosalia Kitzmann
HAZEN -- Rosalia (Baier) Kitzmann, 93, Beulah, died March 31, 1997, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. MST Friday at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with burial in Hannover Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Minnie Schramm and Gertie Kitzmann, both of Hazen; one son, John, Athens, Greece; one brother, William Baier, Hazen; and two sisters, Lydia Karlin, Billings, Mont., and Regina Hildebrand, Hazen. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)

Gerda Nelson
GARRISON -- Gerda Nelson, 86, Garrison, died March 31, 1997, in the Garrison nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

She is survived by one son, Ronald, Fairbanks, Alaska; and one daughter, Patt Knudtson, Wadena, Minn. (Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison)

Col. Richard Rooth
Col. Richard Arlen Rooth, 67, Brunswick, Maine, formerly of Mandan, died March 31, 1997, in a Brunswick hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Brunswick.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; one son, Cmdr. Richard Rooth, Washington, D.C.; and one daughter, Barbara Black, Harker Heights, Texas. (Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick)

Harold Trimmer

Monica Brandt
DICKEY -- Monica Brandt, 17, Dickey, died March 29, 1997, in LaMoure County. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Marion School Gym, with burial in Dickey Cemetery.

She is survived by her father, Spencer; two sisters, Tricia Lebahn, Valley City, and Jessica Brandt, Dickey; one brother, Tatem, Dickey; and her grandmother, Mattie Brandt, Jamestown. (Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown)

Patricia Brandt
DICKEY -- Patricia Brandt, 40, Dickey, died March 29, 1997, in LaMoure County. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Marion School Gym, with burial in Dickey Cemetery.

Anne Funk
DICKINSON -- Anne Funk, 53, Dickinson, died April 1, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 3 p.m. MST today at Evangelical Bible Church, Dickinson, with burial in Antioch Cemetery, Franklin County, Kan.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; one daughter, Angela Herod, San Diego, Calif.; one son, Curtis Funk, Olathe, Kan.; three brothers, Mike Jumper, Spencer, Mass., Eric Jumper, Granger, Ind., and Geoffrey Jumper, Southern Pines, N.C.; and one sister, Mary Ellen Jumper, Granger. Inga Rutledge
WILLISTON -- Inga Rutledge, 83, Williston, died April 2, 1997, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston. Further arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Herbert `Lefty' Herman
JAMESTOWN -- Herbert F. ``Lefty" Herman, 68, Jamestown, died April 2, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown, with the Revs. Richard Reynolds and Elmo Tahran officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Herbert was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Beulah, the son of Jacob and Marie (Hanke) Herman. He grew up and was educated in Bismarck. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1947 and served in the 11th Airborne. He was discharged at Fort Campbell, Ky., in 1950 and was recalled in 1950 to serve in the Korean War. He served in the 3rd Division until 1952. He worked for the Bismarck Fire Department until he opened Herman's Auto Clinic in Bismarck. On Feb. 9, 1962, he married Betty Haux Bennett. They moved to Jamestown in 1964 where they owned and operated the Tumble Weed Motor Hotel and later Four Winds Restaurant until 1975. During this time he was Friendship Inn Governor for North Dakota, actively involved in North Dakota Tourism and served as North Dakota Food and Lodging Association president for 1973-74. On a local level, while in Jamestown, he was involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Sertoma, Toastmasters and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. The Herman family organized stock car racing in Bismarck in 1955. Herbert was a stock car driver in Bismarck and, in later years, owned a racing car in Jamestown and raced in the tri-state area for many years. In later years, he owned and operated an auto parts business and was employed by Cen-Dak Leasing in Jamestown. At the time of his death, he owned and operated Golden Years Living Center, a basic car facility. He also drove school bus for Jamestown Public School Systems and was employed at NoDak Coaches.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Cheryl, and Jeff and Kelli, all of Bismarck, and Dwight and Holly, Jamestown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Corinne and Wallace Klostreich, Bismarck, and Karla and Robert Ibes Jr., Eldridge; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jaylene Peightal, Seattle; and one brother, Eldon, Bismarck.

Dorothy Yule
Dorothy C. Yule, 79, Littleton, Colo., died Feb. 28, 1997, at her home. Services were March 7 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Littleton. The body was cremated.

Dorothy was born in Killdeer. Her father was a farmer and her mother was an operator for the phone company. Dorothy met her husband, Willard, in 1936. They were married in 1938 and moved to Bismarck.

Dorothy was a member of Order of Eastern Star and PEO. She was involved in Order of Rainbow for Girls for many years and had served as Supreme Deputy for the state of North Dakota. Dorothy moved to Littleton in 1978.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Coffman; and one grandchild, Joshua Coffman.

The family prefers memorials to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Littleton, Colo., or the American Heart Association.

Robert Havelka
DICKINSON -- Robert Havelka, 59, Dickinson, died April 2, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, New Hradec.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; one daughter, Gail Kostelecky, Bemidji, Minn.; three sons, Glenn, Thornton, Colo., Gregg and Gary, both of Coon Rapid, Minn.; four brothers, Joe and Laudie, both of Dickinson, Otto, Owatonna, Minn., and David, Forest Lake, Minn.; and four sisters, Tillie Havelka, Dickinson, Lillian Wegh, Regent, Margaret Karsky, Clinton, Minn., and Mary Ann Fitterer, Glen Ullin. Sarah Underwood
WILLISTON -- Sarah Underwood, 73, Williston, died April 3, 1997, in the Williston hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Everson Funeral Home, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Locy, Dorothy Underwood and Dolores Underwood, all of Williston; one brother, Richard Crittenden, Prior, Okla.; and two sisters, Pat Styron, Granby, Mo., and Nell Faircloth, Wewoka, Okla.

Inga Rutledge
WILLISTON -- Inga Rutledge, 83, Williston, died April 2, 1997, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; one daughter, Ruth Treider, Williston; two sons, John, Manassas, Va., and Robert, Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Delp, Libby, Mont., and Helen Hursh, Owatonna, Minn.; and one brother, Melvin Thorness, Boise, Idaho. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Harold Trimmer
MADDOCK -- Harold K. Trimmer, 94, Maddock, died April 2, 1997, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by one son, Harold Jr., Fargo; four daughters, Elnor Haugen and Mercedes Motschenbacker, both of Maddock, Lorraine Aanderud, Fargo, and Delores Morken, Minot; and four sisters, Gladys Hall, Cincinnati, Leanor Marrs, Chicago, Doris Sausser, Indianapolis, and Dorothy Smith, Decatur, Ill.
