Steven Raby
Steven Raby, 12, Arlington, Texas, died of leukemia, April 5, 1997, in his home. Services were held Monday at Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church, Arlington, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery at a later date.

Steven was born Sept. 21, 1984, in Gathersburg, Md., the son of Scott and LaVonne (Fisher) Raby. He was a recent sixth-grade graduate from Roquemore Elementary.

Steven will always be loved and remembered by his mother, LaVonne Fisher, Arlington; his father, Scott Raby, Baltimore, Md.; his brother, Jeremy Raby, Arlington; his puppy, Duce; his grandparents, Arnold and Regina Fisher, Flasher, and Eugene and Elaine Raby, Homosassa, Fla.; and his aunts and uncles, Jeanette and Rory Martin, Bismarck, Cynthia and Herbert Loebs, Alpena, S.D., Marvin and Toni Fisher, Jamestown, Vernon and Elizabeth Fisher, Lawton, Okla., Juanita and Kevin Ritz, Big Spring, Texas, Melissa Fisher, Mount Holly, N.J., Lisa Raby, Homosassa, Fla., and Vicky and David Kenzle, Flint, Mich. Sister Joan Brun
Services for Sister Joan Brun, 98, a founding member of the Benedictine Sisters of Annunciation Priory, Bismarck, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at Annunciation Priory Chapel.

Sister Joan died April 6, 1997, in the Garrison hospital. A wake service will begin at 5 p.m. today at the chapel, where visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today.

Sister Joan's life was centered on God. Her deep faith, generous spirit and hearty laugh characterized her 76 years as a Benedictine. She loved to pray and sing and put her whole self into everything she did.

Sister Joan served in the health care field for 50 years. She worked for 42 years at St. Alexius Medical Center as a nurse on almost every floor and in central supply. While supervisor of the maternity floor, she assisted in the delivery of over 1,000 babies. She also was a nurse at Richardton and Riverdale hospitals. Even in her retirement she had an amazing amount of energy -- relishing keeping the priory cafeteria clean and orderly.

Mary Louise was born May 28, 1898, to Elizabeth and Prudent Brun of Maple Lake, Minn. She was the second of seven children. She entered St. Benedict's Convent in 1918 and made her monastic profession on July 11, 1920.

She is survived by one sister, Helen F. Trow of San Diego, Calif., and the Benedictines of Annunciation Priory. (Boelter Funeral Home)

Annie Axt
MCCLUSKY -- Annie Mary Axt, 95, McClusky, died April 6, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McClusky Baptist Church. Burial will be in McClusky Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Annie Mary Mauch was born to Fred and Louisa Mauch, Feb. 8, 1902, at Goodrich. She attended a country school in Sperry Township in Sheridan County through the eighth grade. She met David H. Axt. They were married Oct. 14, 1924, at Goodrich. They farmed for 36 years in Mountain City Township, four miles north and one mile west of McClusky. He died Nov. 24, 1960. She farmed another 10 years with her son, Donald, before moving to McClusky in 1970. She entered Bismarck Baptist Home, Aug. 9, 1991, where she lived for 5 years.

Annie accepted Christ as her savior at age 16, and was baptized two years later. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Goodrich, and in 1979, became a member of McClusky Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd H. and Deloris, McClusky, LaVern V. and Mary, Baldwin, and Donald D. and Jo Ann, McClusky; two daughters and one son-in-law, Evangeline Hagen, Bismarck, and Lorraine V. and Wesley Kahler, Fargo; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alvina Mauch Schmidt, Bismarck Baptist Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Arnold; and one daughter, Olivia Hoffman.

Robert Reichmuth
Robert J. ``Bob" Reichmuth, 72, 1218 S. Highland Acres Road, died Aug. 9, 1996, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, with the Rev. Thomas E. Kramer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1326.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday at Boelter Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services. An evening prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert was born Aug. 6, 1924, at Graceville, Minn., the son of Albert and Edna (McNally) Reichmuth. He was raised and educated at Chokio, Minn., and graduated from high school there in 1942. Bob worked in the Bremerton, Wash. shipyards. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943, and attended University of Washington, the V12 program. For nine months of his service time, he served on a mine sweeper in the waters off Guam. He was discharged in May 1946. Bob attended University of Minnesota for one year in the business administration program. He was in the Naval Reserves from 1949-1953. Bob married Albina ``Bea" Borho, July 2, 1949, at Minneapolis. He worked for Boutell's Furniture Store in Minneapolis and St. Cloud, Minn. for three years. In 1952 he began working for MDU in Minneapolis, before being transferred to Bismarck, when the general office relocated in 1968. He retired in 1986 after 35 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, including the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and Bismarck St. Mary's Boosters. He enjoyed traveling, and was an aviation enthusiast. Bob was a member of Bismarck Elks, American Legion, and a life member of VFW. He was known affectionately to his grandchildren as the ``Jellybean Grandpa."

He is survived by his wife, Bea; two daughters and one son-in-law, Peggy and Dave Schaaf, Mandan, and Jane Reichmuth, Vail, Colo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Peggy Horn-Reichmuth, St. Louis Park, Minn.; two sisters, Donna Reichmuth, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Bette MacDonald, Edina, Minn.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jack, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Jerry and Fran, Phoenix; six grandchildren, Andy, Alison and Amy Jo Schaaf, Anna, Alyssa and Joseph Robert Reichmuth; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Mary Michaelene; and one infant brother, Donald.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. Alexius Hospice.

Anton Zander
Anton ``Tony" F. Zander, 80, 1101 Sunset Drive, Mandan, died Aug. 8, 1996 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. William Fahnlander officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Sunday. A St. Vincent Verein rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday, followed by a Moose Ritual at 7:30, and a parish vigil at 8, all at the funeral home.

Anton was born March 29, 1916, in Morton County, the son of Frank and Monica (Kautzman) Zander. He was raised and educated in Morton County. On Oct. 24, 1939, he married Beatrice Gratz at St. Vincent's Church in Crown Butte. They farmed in the Morton County area until retiring from farming. They then moved to Mandan where he was a school bus driver for the Mandan School District for 15 years. Tony also played in the ``Johnny Mosbrucker Orchestra" for a number of years.

Anton was a member of the Eagles, Moose and St. Vincent's Verein.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Sharon, and Bruce and Carla, all of Mandan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and David Geiger, Kent, Wash., and Beverly and Don Satnan, Mandan; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight brothers and five sisters-in-law, George, Emil, John and Ida, and Jack and Veronica, all of Mandan, Harry and Shirley, Fargo, Steve and Simone, and Frank, all of Yakima, Wash., and Joe and Rosalie, Arizona; and four sisters, Tillie Leingang and Betty Leingang, both of Mandan, Katie Zerr, Yakima, and Sister Demaris Zander, Lacy Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

Barbara Trolley
Barbara P. Trolley, 70, Las Vegas, formerly of Bismarck, died Aug. 6, 1996, at her daughter's home in Everett, Wash. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charles Heidt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Boelter Funeral Home, where a vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday, with the Deacon Ken Klein presiding.

Barbara was born Feb. 28, 1926, at Fallon. She was a hard-working, strong woman her entire life. Her bouts with illness were hidden from others as much as possible. She loved her bowling and earned many trophies. She owned and operated the Main Bar, along with her husband, Phillip, for many years. Barbara was a ``star" dispatcher for the local taxi company throughout the years.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Willard Danley, Seattle, Gary and Vicki Danley, Bovey, Wash., Robert and Bev Danley, Bothell, Wash., and Roger Danley, Las Vegas; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Beverly and Richard Senger, Everett, Lynn and Roger Huft, Bismarck, Judy and Bob Bickel, Great Falls, Mont., and Patricia Danley, Bismarck; her father, George Briski, Bismarck; two sisters, Kay Vanderhoff, Federal Way, Wash., and Clem Perius, Fergus Falls, Minn.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lynn Danley, in 1962; and her second husband, Phil Trolley, in 1990.

The family prefers memorials to the Mental Retardation, c/o American People of Bismarck.

Lindy Feist
BOWMAN -- Lindy Feist, 68, Bowman, died Aug. 8, 1996, in his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at Bowman Lutheran church, with burial in Bowman Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; five daughters, Linda Woerth, Enumclaw, Wash., Sandra Feist and Margie Downey, both of Rapid City, Wanda Lutes, Bowman, and Donna Suchor, Gillette, Wyo.; one sister, Lorraine Erickson, Rapid City; and one brother, Lynn, Lemmon, S.D. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

C.A. Johnson
GARRISON -- C.A. ``Art" Johnson, 85, Garrison, died Aug. 8, 1996, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, with burial in Garrison Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Art was born Oct. 2, 1910, at Lawton, to John and Anna Johnson and received his education in rural schools in the Lawton area. He married Marion C. Burreson at Pekin, Dec. 28, 1938. They owned the Johnson Hardware Store in Pekin until 1964 when they moved to Garrison. He became a partner in the S&J Hardware Store until his retirement in the early 1980s. He had been a member of Garrison Investment Club and Garrison Bowling League. Marion preceded him in death on April 24, 1996.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Charlene and Hilman Ulland, Granville, Corryn and Richard Fix, Bothell, Wash., and Constance Krueger, Garrison; seven grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Christian, Lawton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother; three sisters; and one grandson.

Maxine Oster
BOWMAN -- Maxine B. Oster, 78, Bowman, died Aug. 8, 1996, in the Bowman nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT today at Bowman Lutheran Church, with burial in Memorial Cemetery, Tulsa, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, Herman; one son, Mark Whitman, Tulsa; two daughters, Joan Yager, El Paso, Texas, and Ann Binggeli, Charlottesville, Va.; and one sister, Jean Smith, Wichita, Kan. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

Margaret Paulsrud
NEW ENGLAND -- Margaret Helen Paulsrud, 79, New England, died Aug. 8, 1996, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one son, James Olson, Sheridan, Wyo.; one daughter, Renee Rettinger, New England; two sisters, Myrtle Anderson, New England, and Mildred Makelki, San Antonio, Texas; and two brothers, Henry Zahn Jr., New England, and Morris Zahn, Hettinger. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Larry Bullinger
DICKINSON -- Larry P. Bullinger, 48, Dickinson, died Aug. 9, 1996, at his home of natural causes. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, New Hradec. Further arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Leroy Ensz
Leroy Ensz, 42, Bismarck, died in Santa Monica, Calif. Further arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Tillie Hoff
Tillie Hoff, 74, 725 S. 12th St., died Aug. 9, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Phyllis Klein
ZEELAND -- Phyllis Klein, 65, Zeeland, died Aug. 10, 1996, in the Ashley hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland, with burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Zeeland.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; two sons, Darin, Wahpeton, and Kelly, Bismarck; one daughter, Tammy Schatz, Baumholder, Germany; three brothers, George Bosch, Bismarck, Tony and Ray Bosch, both of Linton; one sister, Marie Simon, Bismarck. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

George Boehler
GOLDEN VALLEY -- George Boehler, 78, Golden Valley, died Aug. 11, 1996, in his home of natural causes. Arrangements are pending at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Sarah Haugen
Sarah Ann Haugen, the 17-month-old daughter of Sharol Heinert Haugen and Mark Haugen, Bismarck, died Aug. 8, 1996, in a Rochester, Minn., hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charles Heidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight.

Sarah was born March 1, 1995, in North Dakota. She enjoyed a happy and full, yet so short life, bringing a lot of joy to those she touched. She loved her afternoons at the playground and the backyard swimming pool. She brought more joy and love to our lives than we thought possible, and she will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her parents, Mark and Sharol; her grandparents, Pete and Eileen Heinert, Manning, and Ronald and Leanne Haugen, Roseglen; her great-grandparents, George and Emma Heiser, Dickinson, and Anna Haugen, Garrison; her aunts and uncles, Kevin and Laurie Heinert, Curt and Marilyn Heinert, John and Lisa Haugen, Lee and Annette Weisgarber; and seven first cousins.

She was preceded in death by three great-grandfathers; and two great-grandmothers.

Shirley Vetter
Shirley Ann Vetter, 45, 1449 Atlanta Drive, died Aug. 10, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Shirley Wentz was born Aug. 17, 1950, in the Bismarck Hospital, the daughter of Elmer and Tillie (Holzworth) Wentz. She was raised and educated in Napoleon, graduating from Napoleon High School in 1968. After her graduation she moved to Bismarck and started working for U.S. West Communications, formerly Northwestern Bell, on Sept. 9, 1968, as an operator. Shirley married Ed Vetter, Sept. 28, 1973, in Bismarck. In 1981 she joined the business office of Northwestern Bell as an order typist. She continued with that job until she was laid off in 1987. She rejoined the business in 1988 as a clerk after being gone for over a year. She held that job until the present.

She is survived by her husband, Ed; two sons, Bob and Brandon; one daughter, Beth; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Roger Becker; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kat Wentz; and her parents, Elmer and Tillie Wentz, all of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and one nephew, Brian Becker.

Storm Nies
Storm Sterling Nies, 45, Bismarck, was killed Aug. 10, 1996, in a motorcycle accident south of Mandan. Storm was born Jan. 7, 1951, in New Salem, the son of Walter and Sonia (Letzring) Nies. He was raised and educated in New Salem, graduating from New Salem High School where he lettered in all sports. He was especially known for his football-kicking ability. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1969 as a pipefitter/hull technician. In 1970 he went to Vietnam and received the Naval Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Service and was discharged in 1973. He married Barb Dawn Klinger, June 24, 1972, in Bismarck. He was a carpenter welder for the Carpenter's Union Local 1091. He went to the George Meany Institute and became the business agent for the local. More recently, he was the resident manager for the Heritage Apartments, where he always went the extra mile to console and befriend the elderly and disabled residents. He was well known for giving his all in everything he did. He touched everyone with his kindness and willingness to help and improve oneself.

He was a beloved father, husband and brother, and he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Troy Sterling and Andrea, Bismarck; his daughter, Summer Dawn, Mandan; Troy and Summer's mother, Barb Dawn Nies; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Mark and Bonnie, Beulah, Pat and Barb, Bismarck, Allan and Barbara, Fromberg, Mont., and Adam, Chandler, Ariz. He is also survived by many friends, relatives, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Graveside services with military rites by the New Salem American Legion Post No. 91 will be held at 1 p.m. CDT Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery, New Salem.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Pallbearers will be Mark Nies, Pat Nies, Allan Nies, Adam Nies, Troy Nies and Dan Klinger.

Frances Johnson
Frances M. Johnson, 93, St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Bismarck, died Aug. 12, 1996, in the nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Rose Baumgartner
Rose Baumgartner, 84, Fargo, formerly of Linton, died Aug. 9, 1996, in a Moorhead, Minn., hospital. Services were held Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, Fargo, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Rohrich, Strasburg, and Juliana Richter, Lodic, Calif. (Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo)

Richard Lennick
GLEN ULLIN -- Richard H. Lennick, 71, Glen Ullin, died Aug. 11, 1996, in Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday at First Evangelical Congregational Church, Glen Ullin, with burial in Glen Ullin Cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Pauline; his wife, Rose; Glen Ullin; two sons, John, Hebron, and Elmer, Wessington, S.D.; three brothers, Clarence, Milton and Armin; and four sisters, Margie Kroh, Ruth Newman, Esther Veitz and Ruby Funk. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron)
