Alvin Hinkel
Alvin F.J. Hinkel, 75, 6020 12th St. S.E., Bismarck, died Oct. 7, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Boelter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Wing Cemetery, with military rites by Wing-Tuttle Color Guard and Firing Squad.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home, and will continue after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alvin was born Sept. 6, 1921, at Tuttle, the son of Emil B. and Margaret (Brose) Hinkel. He served in the U.S. Air Corps from 1942-1946. He married Norma Hanson, Oct. 22, 1950, at Robinson. He was a manager in insurance sales in Bismarck.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; three sons, Jon, Mark and Matthew; two daughters, Carol and Julie; three granddaughters; three brothers, Raymond, Theodore and Nobel; and four sisters, Dorothy, Maxine, Hattie and Marvel.

Peter Toth
MOTT -- Peter Toth, 76, Mott, died Oct. 9, 1996, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Mott.

He is survived by two sisters, Linda Erdle, Washington, and Thresa Brooks, Ohio. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott)

Helen Jorgenson
LEEDS -- Helen M. Jorgenson, 69, Leeds, died Oct. 8, 1996, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Leeds Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

Doris Dietrich
MINOT -- Doris J. Dietrich, 74, Minot, died Oct. 7, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Lucier, Bismarck, and Gail LaFromboise, Mandan; three sons, Myron, Burlington, Dennis, Willmar, Minn., and Gene, Sheridan, Wyo.; one brother, Everett Cash Jr., Maryland Heights, Mo., and Ethel Barnick, Washburn. (Thomas Funeral Home, Minot)

Emma Turcotte
TRENTON -- Emma Turcotte, 86, Trenton, died Oct. 8, 1996, in the Williston nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Cindy Knoshaug
WILLISTON -- Services for Cindy Knoshaug, 35, Williston, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She died Oct. 8, 1996, in the Williston hospital of complications with multiple sclerosis.

She is survived by her parents, Merrill and Jenny Knoshaug, Williston; and two sisters, Teryl Gannaway, Buford, and Lori Knoshaug, Williston. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

WILLISTON -- Newton Wagner, 79, Williston, died Oct. 8, 1996, in his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Everson Funeral Home, Williston. Further arrangements are pending.

Lillian Evitt
WILLISTON -- Lillian Evitt, 66, Williston, died Oct. 7, 1996, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by her husband, R.D.; three sons, Russell, Ron and Randall, all of Williston, two daughters, Rebecca Vondell, Williston, and Renee Simonson, Alexander; her mother, Esther French, Laramie, Wyo.; and her six brothers, Harold, Robert, Norm, Joe, Herb and Howard. Tyler Jangula
Tyler Jangula, 17, 1701 Michigan Ave., died Oct. 9, 1996. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Marci Boehler
Marci Boehler, 18, Bismarck, died Oct. 9, 1996, of injuries sustained in a car accident in Des Moines, Iowa. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Tyler Stuart
WILLISTON -- Tyler S. Stuart, 9, Williston, died Oct. 8, 1996, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Ambrose.

He is survived by his mother, Laura Selle, Williston; his father, Shane Stuart, Aztec, N.M.; two sisters, Jessie and Nicole, both of Williston; his grandparents, Larry and Mary Selle, Ambrose, Robert and DeAnn Stuart, Aztec, and James and Vicki McDonough, Littleton, Colo.; and his great-grandparents, Helen Bramblett, Billings, Mont., and Annie Larson, Crosby. Raymond Gaugler
LEMMON, S.D. -- Raymond Gaugler, Lemmon, died June 9, 1997, in the Lemmon nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon.

Otto Haase
ELGIN -- Otto R. Haase, 82, Elgin, died June 7, 1997, in the Elgin hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday at Christus Congregational Church, New Leipzig, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Ella; one brother, John, Elgin; and four sisters, Pauline Hertz, Fargo, Hilda Tietz, New Salem, Martha Buchwitz, Sylmar, Calif., and Esther Hochhalter, New Leipzig. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral home, Elgin)

R.W. McLean
HILLSBORO -- R.W. McLean M.D., formerly of Hillsboro, died June 2, 1997, in his home at New Port Richey, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. June 20 at Hillsboro United Parish. Further arrangements are pending at Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

DICKINSON -- Anna Scheeler, 85, Dickinson, died June 5, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by six daughters, Eugenia Demaniow, Colstrip, Mont., Claudia Dowhaniuk, El Paso, Texas, Hilaria Koffler, Alameda, Calif., Claire Froehlich, Billings, Mont., Diane Scheeler Froehlich, Vancouver, Wash., and Bernice Bardwell, Arvada, Colo.; four sons, Clifford, Renton, Wash., Ervin, Dickinson, Aron, Mott, and Leon, Billings; three brothers, Frank Roshau, Linus Roshau and Joseph Roshau, all of Killdeer; and four sisters, Margaret Urbanec, Dickinson, Claire Roshau, Lincoln, Neb., Isabelle Hartman, Killdeer, and Agnes Kary, Manning. John Jaeger Sr.
DICKINSON -- John Jaeger Sr., 88, Dickinson, died June 9, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, John Jr. and Frank, both of Dickinson; and four daughters, Irene Flynn, Houston, Texas, Genie Randich, Bismarck, Linda Piel, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jackie Bosch, Dickinson. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Nancy Rensch
MAKOTI -- Nancy Jean Rensch, 49, Makoti, died June 8, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Parshall, with burial in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, rural Makoti.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; one son, Dustin, at home; one daughter, Reneta, at home; and her father, Reuben Dammel, Medina. (Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall)

Albert Helgeson
DICKINSON -- Albert N. Helgeson, 95, Dickinson, died June 7, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MDT Thursday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Lucile Berg
Lucile Berg, 83, 1906 N. Washington St., Bismarck, died June 8, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Charity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with burial at 2 p.m. Wednesday in McClusky Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Lucile was born Sept. 25, 1913, at Twin Valley, Minn., the daughter of Vernon and Jeanette Smith. She graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1931. She then received a degree in home economics from North Dakota State University, Fargo. Her first teaching job was in McClusky. She married Herbert Berg, June 7, 1936, at Twin Valley. They lived in McClusky, and she had a long career in teaching home economics and science in McClusky and Mercer. She retired from teaching in 1975. Herbert died Jan. 24, 1977. She moved to Bismarck later that year.

Lucile was an accomplished pianist and church organist. She loved to read and watch sporting events. She did handiwork, especially quilting and hardanger. She was a volunteer at the food pantry in Bismarck, Bismarck Public Library and Medcenter One. She also taught piano lessons. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star in McClusky. She was a member of Charity Lutheran Church in Bismarck, and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in McClusky.

She is survived by one son, James, Littleton, Colo.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janice Moore, Broomfield, Colo., Diane and Harold Shattuck, Portola Valley, Calif., and Jean and Bob Routon, Gurnee, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Kinsey, Windom, Vt., and Marjorie Scheppmann, Porterville, Calif.; and one brother, Dean Smith, Cuba, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers.

John Sanders
John J. Sanders, 75, 906 Couch St., died June 8, 1997, in his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, with military rites by Bismarck Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Wednesday at 9 a.m.-noon Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

John Jennings Sanders was born March 22, 1922, in Grand Forks, the son of John and Jennie (Haugen) Sanders. At the age of two he moved with his family to Ada, Minn., where he grew up and graduated from Ada High School in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served on board repair ships in the South Pacific during World War II. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to Ada to work for his father at Ada Implement Co. He later became a partner with his father and brothers. On Nov. 10, 1946, John married Mildred Aalgaard at rural Bethany Lutheran Church, Shelly, Minn. They lived in Ada until 1960, when the family moved to Bismarck. John worked for Haas International, D&E Supply and Burleigh County Housing Authority. After his retirement in 1984 he was self-employed as a house painter.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Men of Trinity, Sons of Norway and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and Connie, Fargo, and Paul, Laramie, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Rain Westgard and Crystal Sanders, both of Fargo, and Winter Sanders, Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers, Clement, Camarillo, Calif., Raymond and Dr. Lloyd, both of Ada, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Donald and Myron.

Joseph Darby
Joseph Clyde Darby, 78, Federal Way, Wash., died May 30, 1997. Joe was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Boulder, Mont., and graduated from high school in Choteau, Mont. He worked as a train dispatcher for the Great Northern, and later, Burlington Northern Railways in Great Falls, Havre, Mont. and Seattle, retiring there after 42 years of services.

An enthusiastic hobbyist, Joe's main interests included woodworking, playing the organ, reading, travel, computers, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Alice; her children and their families; his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Nadine, Bismarck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Darryl Patrick, Huntsville, Texas, and Diane Clark, Edmonds, Wash.; and his grandchildren, Wendy McCammon, Seattle, and Zack and Camille Patrick, both of Texas.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Alexander Heit
Alexander Heit, 81, 427 S. Washington St., died June 7, 1997, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. John Kuhn officiating. Graveside services will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Gilbert N. Nelson Post No. 1326.

Visitation will begin at noon today at Boelter Funeral Home, where a parish vigil will be said at 7 tonight.

Alexander was born July 24, 1915, at Mandan, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Keen) Heit. He was raised and educated in Okene, Okla., until the age of 16. He then moved to Munich, and worked on various farms in the area until enlisting in the U.S. Army in January 1942. He served his country in Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal. He was also awarded the Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal for over three years of service in Europe and Africa.

Alexander returned to the Munich area in 1945 and continued as a farm laborer, where he met Eileen Pearson. They were married Nov. 18, 1947, at Starkweather. His occupations included grain buyer and elevator construction worker. In 1965 they moved to Valley City, and in 1971, to Denver. He worked for Colorado Paper Company until his retirement in 1978. He returned to North Dakota to be near his family and resided in Bismarck until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Pat, Driscoll, Harold and Nancy, Bismarck, and Kenneth and Terry, Rochester, Ind.; two sisters, Frances Gruber, Arvada, Colo., and Rose Benson, Denver; two brothers, Joey Heit, Denver, and Eddy Gette, Arvada, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
