WILLISTON -- Francis C.A. Johnson, 91, Williston, died Sept. 22, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. He is survived by three daughters, Arlyss Moline, Williston, Marilyn Messner, Fargo, and LaVerne Ringdahl, Fargo; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

HAZEN -- Esther E. Mettler, 72, Hazen, died Sept. 23, 2000, in the Mandan care center. She is survived by two sisters, Lorentina Galster, Mandan, and Albina Grob, Kalispell, Mont. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)

Eva Margaret Schauer
JAMESTOWN -- Eva Margaret Schauer, 86, Jamestown, died Sept. 22, 2000, in Jamestown. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with burial in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. She is survived by one son, George, Bismarck; one daughter, Joan Schauer, Jamestown; and five grandchildren.

BOWMAN -- Peter Leo Schober, 100, Bowman, died Sept. 23, 2000, in the Bowman care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday at Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bowman, with burial in Bowman Cemetery. HAZELTON -- Benjamin E. Wahl, 52, Hutchinson, Kan., formerly of Hazelton, died Sept. 22, 2000, in a Wichita, Kan. hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, Kan., with burial in Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, Kan. He is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, John and Darrin, both of Hutchinson; two daughters, Leisa Wolf and Toni Cox, both of Hutchinson; his mother, Mathilda Wahl, Hazelton; three brothers, Edward, St. Cloud, Minn., Robert, Hazelton, and Dennis, Morrison, Colo.; three sisters, Margaret Grecian, Portland, Ore., pauline Worell, St. Anthony, Idaho, and Martha Wahl, Chuvack, Idaho; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Burial was in Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, S.D. He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Clorine Driver, New Town; one son, Al Nygard, Bismarck; four sisters, Susan Melnourie and Salina Howard, both of Bismarck, Joyce Standish, Mandaree, and Ethel Sanderson, New Town; and seven grandchildren. RICHARDTON -- Barbara Berger, 88, Richardton, died Oct. 30, 2000 in the Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by three children, Betty Malicki, Riverton, Wyo., Beverly Senn, Helena, Mont., and Dennis Berger, Billings, Mont.; three sisters, Agnes Kary, Laguna Hills, Calif., Rose Westmark, Bellevue, Wash., and Florence Schavell, Rochester, Wash.; one brother, Steve Kainz, Dickinson; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Eva Catherine Carlson
Eva Catherine Carlson, 86, St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Bismarck, died Oct. 29, 2000 at the home. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Eva was born Feb. 9, 1914 at Mandan, to Anton Gustav and Johanna (McMahon) Carlson. She was raised and educated in country schools at Lyons, N.D., and graduated from Mandan High School. Eva was a telephone operator most of her adult life. She worked for the telephone company in Mandan, Fort Lewis, Wash., during World War II, Minneapolis and Kansas City, Mo. She retired and moved to Bismarck in 1992. Eva enjoyed traveling and volunteered her time and talents to the St. Alexius hospital and the library in Kansas City. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Art and Shirley Carlson, Bismarck, Cindy and Kelly Nickel, Susan and Chris Kuntz, Mark and Laurie Willer, Jeff and Kathy Zachmeier, all of Mandan, Cindy and Dave Munsch, New Salem, and Mike Nickel, Bismarck. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gustav; three sisters, Mary Nickel, Lillie Graham and Johanna Zachmeier. The family prefers memorials to the Anne Carlsen Center for Children or the North Dakota Mental Health Association. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)
