WATFORD CITY -- Helen Danielson, 93, Watford City, died July 11, 2000 in Watford City. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Keene First Luthearn Church, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. (Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City)

Regina Hager
Regina "Babe" Hager, 71, Bismarck, died July 12, 2000 at her home after losing her battle with cancer. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a vigil will be held at 7 p.m. tonight. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m.-noon Friday at the funeral home. Regina was born April 9, 1929 in Linton. She was the daughter of Peter S. and Elizabeth Feist. She was raised and educated in Linton. On June 1, 1948, she married Alex A. Hager. Regina is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Lyle Chellin, Minnesota, Debbie and Dennis Sailer, Bismarck, Shirley and Wendal Dawson, and Patty and Jody Dawson, all of Almont; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Rodney Hager, Bismarck, and Alex "Sandy" and Debbie Hager, Judson; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clem Feist, Wisconsin, and Wendy Feist, Nebraska; five sisters, Ann Mary Kraft, New Mexico, Carol Goetsch, Wisconsin, Mary Klein, Maggie Jahner and Marcella Keller, all of Linton. Regina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, one sister and one son-in-law. She leaves behind many special friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to the family. A special thanks to Rosemary Wangler for everything she did. (Eastgate Funeral Service)

Walter Hewson
DICKINSON -- Walter Hewson, 92, Dickinson, died July 11, 2000 in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dickinson. He is survived by one daughter, Loreta Marie Hewson, Mandan; three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Albert H. Becker
LINTON -- Albert H. Becker, 74, died July 13, 2000, while fishing with his wife and son. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, with burial in Dale Cemetery, Pollock. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; two sons, Ronald, Denver, and Steve, Storm Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Alfred, Pollock; and two sisters, Dorothy Ryckman and Marjorie Ryckman, both of Pollock. Eldon Fliginger, 83, Bismarck, died July 15, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Elizabeth Grady
DEVILS LAKE -- Elizabeth Grady, 64, Devils Lake, died July 14, 2000, in the Devils Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Leeds. Further arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

Gaylord Helmenstein
NEW SALEM -- Gaylord Helmenstein, 58, New Salem, died July 12, 2000, in his home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Monday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, New Salem, with the Rev. Loren Strum officiating. Gaylord is survived by his son, Shawn, Bismarck; his daughter, Heidi Kinn, Battle Mountain, Nev.; three grandchildren; his mother, Lydia Helmenstein, Mandan; six sisters, Lila Albert, North Richland, Wash., Fay Albers, Bismarck, Violet Kobs, Salt Lake City, Utah, Betty Perkins, Missoula, Mont., Joyce Douglas, Fallen, Nev., and Chyral Schaaf, Baldwin; and two brothers, Russel, New Salem, and Virgil, Minneapolis.

Cora Kaibel
HARVEY -- Cora Kaibel, 85, Harvey, died July 13, 2000, in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Anamoose, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by one brother, Norman Kaibel, Drake; and two sisters, Norma Erdmann, Denhoff, and Freda Kapfer, Harvey. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Leona Fischer
LINTON -- Leona Fischer, 53, Linton, died of cancer July 15, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; three sons, Thomas, John and Paul, all of Bismarck; one daughter, Kathy Schumacher, Linton; one sister, Ann Nieman, Bismarck; seven brothers, Victor Weigel, Fargo, Iggy Weigel, Dickinson, Wendy Weigel, Kintyre, Ken Weigel, Roger Weigel, Alvin Weigel and Edward Weigel, all of Bismarck; and four grandchildren. Eldon Fliginger
Eldon Fliginger, 83, Bismarck, died July 15, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Bismarck, with the Rev. Keith Odney officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Eldon was born in Garrison on May 19, 1917, the son of Noah and Hazel (Larrew) Fliginger. He was raised and attended school in Garrison. He attended North Dakota State School of Forestry in Bottineau in 1939. Following school, he began working for the Occident Grain Company in Garrison. He married Dorothy Kooper on June 4, 1941. They moved to Dunn Center, where he managed the Occident Grain Company. In 1956, they moved to Bismarck where he became division supervisor for Occident. In 1972, he was transferred to Devils Lake, where Eldon became division manager for PV Grain Company. In 1977, he was transferred back to Bismarck and remained division manager until his retirement in 1980. He was an active member of Lutheran Church of the Cross, a member of the Elks, and a 55-year member of the Masonic Order. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and the outdoors. He was past president of the Capital City Gun Club and in 1986, won the Veteran North Dakota State Trap Shooting Championship, and also won the Senior Veteran State Championship in 1987. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marjo and Jim Hewitson, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cindy Fliginger, Bismarck; four grandchildren, John and Beth Hewitson, and Ben and Blair Fliginger; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Dick Grant, Dearborn, Mich., and Lorraine and Albert Klain, Garrison; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Leslie and Harlan, both of Garrison, Ervin and Cary Lou, Bismarck, Howard and Ella, Rainsford, Mont., and Delmer and Margaret, Garrison; and two sisters-in-law, Lydia Fliginger and Lenora Fliginger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and two brothers, Lloyd Fliginger and Wayne Fliginger. The family prefers memorials to Capital City Gun Club, Youth Trap Shooting Program or Lutheran Church of the Cross.

DEVILS LAKE -- Elizabeth Grady, 64, Devils Lake, died July 14, 2000, in the Devils Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Leeds, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Grady-Martin, Reno, Nev.; two sons, Michael, Mesa, Ariz., and Steven, Bismarck; five grandchildren; two brothers, Anton Burkhardsmeier, Minnewaukan, and Richard Burkhardsmeier, Hooper, Utah; and three sisters, Mary Brager, Leeds, Vivian Jorgenson, Rapid City, S.D., and Beverly Bracken, Devils Lake. Zachary Thomas Hancock
Zachary Thomas Hancock, 16 days, the infant son of Michael and Deanne Hancock, Bismarck, died July 15, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service Chapel, with Sister Ivo Schoch and Deacon Bob Schuller officiating. Zachary was born June 30, 2000, in Bismarck, the son of Michael and Deanne Hancock. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Deanne Hancock, Bismarck; his grandparents, Thomas and Leverene Baumeister, Watauga, S.D., and Ruth Hancock, Dickinson; and his great-grandmother, Elsie Ulrich, Elgin. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leslie Hancock; and his great-grandparents, Martin and Violet Baumeister, and John Ulrich.

Marion Hanson
NEW ROCKFORD -- Marion Hanson, 92, New Rockford, died July 16, 2000, in the New Rockford nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church, New Rockford. Further arrangements are pending at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Judith Holm
Judith Stenehjem Holm died July 14, 2000, in her home in Watford City. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church, Watford City. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.- noon today at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City. Judy was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Watford City, to Dr. P.O.C. and Hannah Johnson. She was raised and attended school in Watford City and graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. She married Leland M. Stenehjem of Arnegard in 1944. She and Lee and had three children, Leland M. Stenehjem Jr., Fargo, Stephen L. Stenehjem, Watford City, and Joan M. Rustvang, Fargo. For many years, Judy assisted her father, Doc Johnson, in his medical practice. She was always actively involved in her community and state-wide projects. She was active in the Watford City Women's Club, a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, the largest volunteer women's organization in the world, for over 50 years. She served as state president in 1978-1980. One of her projects was getting 18 Canadian Snow Crab trees planted at intervals along Main Street in Watford City. In addition to her activities with the Women's Clubs, Judy was active in the First Lutheran Church, singing in the church choir for over 30 years, WELCA, Legion Auxiliary and Marathon Bridge. She taught high school home economics and English. For a number of years, she was a radio personality on a western North Dakota radio station. She was active for many years with the First International Bank and Trust of Watford City, serving on its Board of Directors from 1985-1998. She was one of the founders of Art-in-the-Park in Watford City, now called McKenzie Arts Fest. For many years she wintered in Scottsdale and Mesa, Ariz., and while there was active in Victory Lutheran Church and PEO. Her husband, Lee, passed away in 1996. On Dec. 29, 1998, she married Roger Holm of Atwater, Minn. Roger and Judy made their home in Watford City, Atwater, and in Mesa. Judy is survived by her husband, Roger; and children and grandchildren, Lee Jr. and his friend, Sue Hartmann, Fargo, Steve and his wife, Gretchen, and their children, Peter, Erik, Kira and Kristen, and Joan and her husband, Jon Rustvang, and their children, Erin, Jeffrey and Michael; her brother, Dr. Maxwell H.D. Johnson, and his wife, RuthAnn, Park Ridge, Ill.; her sister, Maxine McCloskey, Phoenix; her sisters-in-law, Vi Stenehjem, Watford City, and Molly Johnson, Seattle; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Horner Rovelstad, Grand Forks; and special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by stepsons, Tom Holm, Mesa, and his children, Kris and Erik, Mick Holm and his wife, Jeannie, and daughter, Maggie, Madison, Wis., Jack Holm and his wife, Cheryl, Waterdown, Minn.; and great-grandchild, Matthew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her parents; her brother, Dr. P.O.C. Johnson; and her brothers-in-law, Vince Stenehjem and Mac McCloskey. The family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church or McKenzie County Skating Clubs.

Mary Lou Norton
Mary Lou Norton, 78, 511 N. 13th St., died July 14, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. George's Episcopal Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Michael Horn and Kendall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home. Mary Lou was born June 25, 1922, in Cavalier, to Almon and Lubelle Wilson Norton. She moved with her family to Bismarck in 1938, where she graduated from Bismarck High School in 1940. She worked for Benson's Optical for several years, and also at the State Lab. Later, she worked as a clerk at the North Dakota State Library, where she retired. She was a charter member of the Zonta Club. She was the president of St. Anne's Guild at St. George's Episcopal Church, where she was very active. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Society for the Preservation of the Old Governor's Mansion of which she also was a charter member. Mary Lou was very close with her sister, Jean "Betty." She is survived by two sisters, Jean "Betty," Bismarck, and Juliette Scott, Medford, Ore.; one brother, John, Baker City, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Alion; and a very special friend, John Adams.
