CARRINGTON -- Alfred Fruhwirth, 77, Carrington, died July 23, 2000, in the New Rockford nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, with burial in Carrington Cemetery. He is survived by three brothers, John, Lakewood, Calif., Ken, Carrington, and Bill, Larimore; and one sister, Mary Fornshell, Minot. (Evans Funeral Home, Carrington)

Doris Hayden, 73, Bismarck, died July 24, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Kirk Heupel
Kirk Heupel, 47, Bismarck, died July 23, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital after a short battle with cancer. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at United Church of Christ, Bismarck, with the Rev. Dale Carmen officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service. Kirk Douglas Heupel was born Oct. 5, 1952, at Bismarck, the son of Wilbert and Lorraine (Krein) Heupel. He was raised and educated in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge he attended Bismarck State College. He and Fammie Benz were married April 23, 1977. He was employed by OMF, DSK Enterprises, and, since 1983, at the Bismarck Post Office. Kirk liked to fish and enjoyed watching sports, especially when his children were involved. He was a member of the Elks and the Postal Union. He is survived by his wife, Fammie; two sons, Dustin and Tyler, both at home; one daughter, Krystle, at home; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bob Carlsen, Fertile, Minn.; and one niece, Tara Carlsen, and her son, Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Lorraine Heupel.

Martha Hieb
Martha Hieb, 97, Bismarck, formerly of McClusky, died July 23, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Alex Kukla
KILLDEER -- Alex Kukla, 77, formerly of Killdeer, died June 19, 2000, in Los Angeles. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. MDT Saturday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with inurnment at 3 p.m. Saturday in Korson Cemetery, Killdeer. He is survived by one son, Alex; five brothers, Emil, Oregon, Jack, Pete and Tony, all of Killdeer, and Paul, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Perkins, Dickinson, and Marie Skachenko, Killdeer.

ANAMOOSE -- William Lageson, 55, Anamoose, died of natural causes, July 24, 2000, in the Grafton hospital. Arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

PARSHALL -- Gary Lerberg, 75, Parshall, died July 24, 2000, in London, England. Arrangements are pending at Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall.

Albert Evertt Nutt
WIMBLEDON -- Albert Evertt Nutt, 80, Wimbledon, died July 23, 2000 in Jamestown. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; two daughters, Constance Hakanson, Eugene, Ore., and Janet Brilz, Arthur; one son, Darol, Rock Springs, Wyo.; four grandchildren; one brother, William, Valparaiso, Ind.; two sisters, Mildred Tischer, Wahpeton, and Vera Fletcher, Courtenay; and three grandchildren. Alma Louise Olson
ALMONT -- Alma Louise Olson was born on the family farm in northern Grant County, on Dec. 12, 1912, the eighth of nine children, to parents Ingeborg and Olaf Olson. Graduating from Almont High School in 1931 she worked for many years in the Almont Post Office and as treasurer and auditor of the City of Almont. She was very active in ministry as a member of the Almont Wesleyan Church. Alma died July 22, 2000, in a hospital in Amarillo, Texas, after a two-week illness. She had been living in Campo, Colo., with her niece's family, the Ron and Karen Groninger family. She was 87 years at her death. Survivors are her 10 nieces and six nephews; and grand-nieces and grand-nephews too numerous to list. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Campo Wesleyan Church, Campo, Colo. There will also be a memorial service at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at Almont Wesleyan Church for family and North Dakota friends. Burial will be in Almont Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to Almont Wesleyan Church.

DICKINSON -- Violet Pesheck, 74, Dickinson, died July 23, 2000, in her home. Arrangements are pending at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Marie Sherlock
CARRINGTON -- Marie Sherlock, 88, Carrington, died July 22, 2000, in the Carrington care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Kensal, with burial in Kensal Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Harry, Albuquerque, N.M., and James, Dazey; two daughters, Gertrude Nihill, Kensal, and Laura Counts, Irving, Texas; one brother, Walter Bender, St. Paul, Minn.; one sister, Emma Pilger, St. Paul; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Howard Slater
MADDOCK -- Howard Slater, 97, Maddock, died July 24, 2000, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Evangelical Free Church, Esmond. Further arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.

Harley Peter Wanner
Harley Peter Wanner, 20, 201 Arbor Ave., Bismarck, died July 22, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Stephen Zastoupil officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue Wednesday one hour before the service at the church. A parish vigil will be held at 7 tonight at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Harley was born Aug. 2, 1979, at Dickinson, to Harlan Wanner and Deborah Westrum. He was raised and educated in Dickinson and graduated from Century High School in Bismarck in 1997. He has been employed at Dakota Ready Mix of Bismarck for the past four years. One can describe Harley as outgoing, finding it easy to make new friends. His love of life came through as a spectator and participant of sports. While in high school he played football, basketball, baseball and track. He took pride in the accomplishments of his friends. He found time to watch his friends at the race track and watching the Bismarck Blaze indoor football as an active and avid fan. Family was important, making time for his aunts, uncles and visiting his grandparents. His community of family and friends have these and many memories to cherish. He is survived by his father, Harlan Wanner, Mandan; his mother, Debbie Frank, Bismarck; his stepfather, Jeff Frank, Bismarck; his stepmother, Pam Wanner, Mandan; his grandmother, Gloria Wanner, Dickinson; his step-grandparents, Richard and Carolyn Bullinger, Bismarck, Ernie and Eileen Frank, Dickinson, his step-great-grandparents, Tillie Schmalz, Jenny Frenzel, both of Dickinson, George Leingang, Mandan; one brother, Joshua Wanner, Bismarck; his sisters, Heather and Hayley Wanner, Bismarck; his girlfriend, Kristi Knodel, Bismarck and expected newborn son, Harley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Alice Westrum, Peter J. Wanner and one aunt, Donna Fredrick.

Kenzie D. Wenger
UNDERWOOD -- Kenzie D. Wenger, 71, Tioga, formerly of Underwood, died July 22, 2000, in the Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Tioga, with the Rev. Chris Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Birka Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, rural Washburn. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before services. Kenzie was born Oct. 8, 1928, at Underwood, the son of James O. and Emma (Pfaffengut) Wenger. He was raised and educated in Underwood, graduating from high school in 1946. Kenzie attended North Dakota State University at Fargo, and then was associated with his father in the meat and grocery business in Underwood. On June 4, 1950, Kenzie was united in marriage to Beverly Gradin at the Birka Lutheran Church. Kenzie continued in the family business in Underwood, and later owned and operated the Underwood Super Valu. He also processed meat in Minot, Tioga, Williston and Lemmon, S.D. He later accepted a position at the Pipestone Technical College in Pipestone, Minn. as an instructor in meat processing and sausage making. In 1998, Kenzie retired and he and Beverly moved to Tioga to be closer to children and grandchildren. Kenzie was a member of First Lutheran Church, Tioga. He also was currently serving on the Tioga Senior Citizens Board. Kenzie was known for his sausage specialties and won numerous awards. He loved following his children and grandchildren's activities. In earlier years, he enjoyed being involved with his family by taking them to horse shows throughout the state of North Dakota. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Kenzie is survived by his wife, Beverly; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Dorothea, Grace City, Robert and Candice, and David and Betty, all of Tioga; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Steven Ewing, Pipestone, Minn.; two brothers, Richard, McKean, Penn., and Donald, Austin, Texas; one half-brother, James Wenger, Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Grace Carlson, Washburn; two half-sisters, Lorraine Conradi and Marguerite Frush, both of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Althea.

Joseph Lloyd Yellow Earrings
BULLHEAD, S.D. -- Joseph Lloyd Yellow Earrings, 52, Bullhead, died July 22, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bullhead Nutrition Center. Further arrangements are pending at Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.

STRASBURG -- Peter J. Zacher, 71, Strasburg, died July 23, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg. Further arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Irene H. Beeks
WASHBURN -- Irene H. Beeks, 90, Washburn, died July 17, 2000, in the Turtle Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Bradley Brauer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Irene M. Leupp was born March 19, 1910, at Stanton, to Paul and Theresa (Dobler) Leupp. She grew up and attended school at Stanton. She worked for a time at the Mercer County Auditors Office at Stanton. She married Clifford H. Beeks on Nov. 4, 1934, at Stanton. They made their home in Washburn where she worked with her husband in building and operating the family business, Central Flying Service. Cliff died on March 14, 1980. She was involved in many community activities to include Cub Scouts den mother, Washburn High School Band Mothers, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, McLean County Historical Society, Lewis and Clark Bicentennial and District 8 Republican Party. She enjoyed hobbies of reading, gardening and raising flowers. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Janet, Twin Falls, Idaho, William and Mary Ann, Washburn, Clifford and Bernita, Chillicothe, Ohio, and Don and Anita, Burkburnett, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ione Leupp, Hazen, and Alice and Jake Jantzen, Madison, Wis.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Adolph "Ike" and Mary Leupp, Stanton.

Dorothy M. Bonham
Services for Dorothy M. Bonham, 78, Jackson, Minn., formerly of Mandan, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery. She died July 16, 2000, in a St. Paul, Minn. care center. She is survived by two daughters, Janice Griffin, Jackson, and Beth Neubrech, Eden Prairie, Minn.; two sons, Kevin, Grand Forks, and Jeffrey, Phoenix; one sister, Bette Buehler, Mandan; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
