Roman R. Pemrick
STEELE -- Roman R. Pemrick, 66, Steele, died June 12, 2000, in his home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Dom Vetter officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Roman was born Jan. 31, 1934, at Wilmot, S.D., to Martin and Beulah (Fryer) Pemrick. He was raised and educated in Mitchell, S.D. In 1952 he married Marlys Gerlach and they had three children. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. In 1971 he married Lois Trudau. Roman worked construction and drove truck for the North Dakota Highway Department, Bismarck District from 1977 until 1995 when he retired. He is survived by his former spouses, Marlys Ann (Gerlach) Pemrick, Mitchell, and Lois E. Schockley, Steele; one daughter, Robin Pemrick, Custer, S.D.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Martin and Marilyn Pemrick, and Douglas Pemrick, all of Mitchell; three stepdaughters, Mary Jo O'Leary, Goldendale, Wash., Karen and Mike Kemnitz, Mandan, and Jan Bertsch, Denver; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Roman was preceded in death by his father, Martin.
Elaine E. Puffe
Elaine E. Puffe, 74, Mandan, died June 11, 2000, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Brad Stoltenow officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Elaine was born Feb. 26, 1926, at Fisher, Minn., the daughter of Martin and Emelia (Ross) Radi. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fisher. Elaine was united in marriage to Esthel Puffe on June 19, 1948. They lived in the Fisher-Crookston area until 1955 when they moved to Bismarck. The couple divorced in 1974. Elaine continued her schooling and graduated from Moorhead State University in 1980 with a degree in social work. She worked with the developmentally disabled in Fargo for five years. Elaine then moved to Carson where she worked for Grant County Social Services until December 1993. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Eleanor puffe, Austin, Texas, and Joel and Kathy Puffe, Bismarck; one daughter, Cheryl Hickel, Klamath Falls, Ore.; nine grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters; and nine nieces and nephews.

BEULAH -- Edwin M. Renner, 70, Beulah, died June 11, 2000, in his home after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, with burial in Beulah Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Ray, Hazen, and Dale, Devils Lake; one daughter, Murphy Grant, Oceanside, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Irene Unterseher and Irma Ellwein, both of Hazen, Evelyn Schuh, Acampo, Calif., and Ida Birney, Glendale, Calif. Walter Sauter
GOODRICH -- Walter Sauter, 85, Goodrich, died June 13, 2000 in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, with burial in Goodrich City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky. Walter Fred Sauter was born on May 7, 1915 in Goodrich to Fred and Dorothea (Rieger) Sauter. He grew up and attended rural school northeast of Goodrich. He married Irene Brakel on Oct. 4, 1937 in McClusky. They lived and farmed northeast of Goodrich. He retired in 1985. He entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in September 1996. Walter was an avid hunter and also enjoyed raising horses. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich. He also served on the Boone Township Board and Boone Township School Board in Sheridan County. Walter is survived by his wife, Irene, Goodrich; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerone, Goodrich, and Thomas and Donna, Goodrich; one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Jim Meckle, Denhoff; four grandchildren; three sisters, Emma Richardson, Jamestown, Tillie Unruh, Kissimmee, Fla., and Leona Thomas, St. Petersburg, Fla. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Fred, Paul, Ed, Otto and Alvin; and three sisters, Louisa Wiersch, Carrie Eiselen and Rose Hartman. (Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky)
