GRENORA -- Joseph Carlson, 85, Grenora, died June 16, 2001, in the Williston care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Everson Memorial Chapel, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. He is survived by his step-daughter, Ruth Celemetson, Chandler, Ariz.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Groshans, Port Richey, Fla., and Verna Wabschall, White Salmon, Wash.; and three brothers, Maynard, Williston, Edward, Houston, Texas, and Duane, Durand, Mich.

Samuel Dorr
Samuel Dorr, 82, Minneapolis, died June 14, 2001, in his home. Arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Donald Hass
Donald G. Hass, 43, Mandan, died June 15, 2001, in the Mandan nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. A parish vigil will begin at 7 tonight at the church. Donald is survived by his wife, Melissa; his daughter, Ashley, at home; his mother, Anna Mary (Berger) Hass, Mandan; his sisters, Norma Leingang, Baldwin, and Tammy, California; his brothers, Ricky, California, Roger, Fargo, Marvin, Beulah, Edward Jr., Porter, Texas, George, Monticello, Minn., David, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mike, Lincoln, Neb., and Dean, Bismarck. Laudie Jilek
BELFIELD -- Laudie Jilek, 81, Belfield, died June 16, 2001, in a Dickinson care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, rural Belfield, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Leona; two daughters, Karen Downing, Fairfield, and Sharon Reis, Dickinson; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Steve, Dickinson; and six sisters, Mary Chalupnik, Oakes, Tillie Filipi, Rose Filipi, Mildred Burian, and Mae Krpoun, all of Dickinson, and Georgianne Karsky, Aberdeen, S.D. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson)

Hertha Maas
HAZEN -- Hertha Katherine Maas, 85, Hazen, died June 16, 2001, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen. Further arrangements are pending at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Thelma Orgaard
Thelma E. Orgaard, 90, Bismarck, formerly of Center, died June 15, 2001, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bismarck Baptist Home, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue at the Baptist Home one hour before services. Thelma Berg was born Oct. 12, 1910, on her parent's homestead in Oliver County. Her parents were Anton and Ellen (Eaton) Berg. She married Edward Martin Orgaard, Oct. 9, 1930, in Mandan and they made their home on a farm southeast of Center. Her hobbies were her garden, flowers and crocheting. She was involved with the Homemakers Club, as well as 4-H, and was clerk of the local school board. After Edward's death, Thelma remained on the farm until she became a resident at the Baptist Home in August of 1990. She is survived by three sons, Howard, Glendive, Mont., Martin and Lee, both of Center, and their families; three sisters, Grace Reuther, Seattle, Muriel Holland and Verna Linn, both of Woodburn, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, who died Oct. 21, 1971; three brothers; and two sisters. Thelma's family prefers memorials to Bismarck Baptist Home.

Cora Seeley
BOWMAN -- Cora Marie Seeley, 84, Bowman, died June 15, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Assembly of God Church, Bowman, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller, S.D. She is survived by one daughter, Joann McKeown, Bowman; three sisters, Tillie Danielson, Rapid City,S.D., Inez Schulz, Webster, S.D., and Elma Peterson, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Harold Sorenson
GARRISON -- Harold Sorenson, 73, Lead, S.D., died June 17, 2001, in his home in Garrison. Arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Ann Stark
Ann Stark, 84, Bismarck, died June 16, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Verlyn Bauer
Verlyn M. Bauer, 55, Mandan, died April 8, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bismarck Funeral Home. Further arrangements are pending.

Pauline Benz
Pauline Benz, 90, Mandan, died April 7, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary and vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.

Pauline was born June 25, 1910, in Felsenburg, Russia, the daughter of Peter and Amilia (Gout) Stolz. She married Anton Gress Oct. 6, 1931, in Russia. They immigrated to the United States in 1952. Anton died six months later. Pauline worked as a cook at the Patterson Hotel for 22 years. She married George Benz in October 1962 in Bismarck. He died March 5, 1984.

Pauline enjoyed crafts of all types and found great pleasure in giving them to the children and grandchildren she loved so dearly.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Betty Gress, Sun City, Ariz.; her daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Gerald McCloskey and Eugenia (Ida) and Ray Ressler, all of Mandan, Kathrine and Stan Brooks, Charlottesville, Va., and Helen Hittle, Billings, Mont.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Adolph; one granddaughter, Paula Serfazo; her parents; and one son-in-law, Lawrence Hittle.

Charles Burkart
Charles J. "Chuck" Burkart, 47, Mandan, died April 8, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Gary Heaton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.

Charles was born June 28, 1953, in Harvey, the son of Gust and Loretta (Schnellbach) Burkart. Raised and educated in Bismarck, he married Kelly Hanson April 20, 1976. He worked for Bulk, Inc., as a transport driver prior to becoming owner and operator of his own truck, leased to Ferrellgas of Bismarck. He operated as CNT Transport until a year and a half ago, when he became unable to continue due to ill health.

A strong believer in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constititution, Chuck enjoyed shooting and hunting, particularly when he could share those activities with his boys.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly; two sons, James, Bismarck, and Jeff, Mandan; his mother, Loretta Burkart, Bismarck; two sisters, Debbie and her husband David Bauer, Burlington, Iowa, and Joanne Sprenger and her fiance Rodney Held, Bismarck; one brother, Gust Burkart and his wife Becky, New London, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents.

Audrey Davy
NEW TOWN -- Audrey Davy, 56, New Town, died April 9, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.

Bertha Delzer
ASHLEY -- Bertha Delzer, 98, Ashley, died April 6, 2001, in an Ashley care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ashley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Venturia Baptist Cemetery, Venturia.

She is survived by one son, Allen, Aberdeen, S.D.; two daughters, Magdalena Kost, Aberdeen, S.D., and Darlene Wolf, Wishek; four stepdaughters, Edna Spiry, Fargo, Esther Schnabel and Ella Kost, both of Ashley, and Lenora Delzer, Aberdeen; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. John Flemmer
NAPOLEON -- John C. Flemmer, 93, Napoleon, died April 8, 2001, in a Napoleon care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon. Further arrangements are pending.

Doris Gerber
Doris A. Gerber, 70, Sartell, Minn., died April 7, 2001, in a Sartell care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Westwood Community Church, St. Cloud, Minn. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sartell.

She is survived by her husband, Wes; one daughter, Janice Petersen, Sugar Hill, Ga.; two sons, Steven, Sartell, Minn., and Mark, Coon Rapids, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Marilyn Collins, Edina, Minn., and Arlene Guy, Luverne, Minn. (Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud, Minn.)

Norbert Huber
ZEELAND -- Norbert B. Huber, 82, Zeeland, died April 7, 2001, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Venturia Baptist Church, Venturia. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Zeeland.

He is survived by five sisters, Ruth Foley, Medford, Ore., Esther Bauer, Bismarck, Violet Reede and Bernese Levi, both of Zeeland, and Phyllis Halbert, Santa Paula, Calif.; and two brothers, Myron Huber, Eureka, S.D., and Leo Huber, Zeeland. (Myers Fuenral Home, Linton)

Lowell Jasper
Lowell E. Jasper, 68, Robinson, died April 9, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Pius Mastel
Pius Mastel, 76, Bismarck, died April 4, 2001. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Pius was born to Christ and Mary Mastel on July 2, 1924, in Beulah. He grew up on the family farm near Hazen. Pius served as a gunner with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Clara Ziegler in 1948 at Richardton. After a brief residence in Lodi, Calif., the family returned to North Dakota and settled in Bismarck. Over the years, Pius worked as a parts clerk for Dakota Tractor Company, Scultz Machinery Company and Butler Machinery Company.

Pius loved polka music, his garden and his backyard apple orchard, which produced bumper crops of vegetables and many varieties of apples.

He is survived by his wife, Clara, Portland, Ore.; two sons, Wayne, Lincoln, and Vern and Janel Mastel, Mandan; one daughter, Bonnie and Larry Gooding, Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Nathan Koch and Mitchell and Rebecca Mastel; and two sisters, Florence Sailer and Lee Hakeen, both of Lodi, Calif.

Pius wished memorials to be sent to North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
