Myrtle Irene Henke

Myrtle Irene Henke, 93, Devils Lake, ND, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Myrtle's nephews, Donald Lannoye, Glenn Lannoye, William "Bill" Lannoye, Curtis Erickstad, Byron Lannoye and Clayton Henke.

Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 1-9 p.m. and Friday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Myrtle Irene Severson was born June 8, 1910 at Garske, ND, the daughter of George and Ella (Gjerdevig) Severson. She was reared and educated at rural Garske and attended Minot High School. After high school, Myrtle worked at a hotel in Perley, MN.

She was united marriage to Alfred W. Henke on Oct. 24, 1929 in Starkweather, ND by the Rev. A. M. Buslee. They farmed for a few years at Penn, ND. In 1936 Mr. Henke then started to work for St. Anthony and the Dakota Elevator Co. and later the Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association where he bought grain for 34 years at Penn. Myrtle worked in the Kaeding Grocery Store and the Penn Post Office for many years. She also did the bookkeeping for the Penn Elevator and was the secretary for the Farmers Mutual Telephone Company at Penn for over 25 years. Mr. Henke died July 27, 1974. In 1979 Myrtle moved into Devils Lake living in apartments on 5th Ave. Lake Country Manor, and in June of 2003 moved to the Heartland Care Center.

Myrtle traveled extenseively throughout the U.S., Europe and Australia.

She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, WELCA, Elizabeth Circle, Eagles Auxiliary, Elketts, Sons of Norway and Sons of Norway Chorus and did volunteer work for the Devils Lake Senior Center.

Myrtle is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and twelve brothers and sisters.

Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, is in charge of arrangements.

Leland A. Olson

Leland A. Olson, 83, of Devils Lake, ND died early Saturday morning, Nov. 1, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Home, Devils Lake.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate, with burial in the Norway Lutheran cemetery, rural Devils Lake.

Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1-9 p.m. and Wednesday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, is in charge of arrangements.

Deanne Jean Bassingthwaite

Deanne Jean Bassingthwaite, 44, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.

A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, Fargo.

Deanne Jean Bassingthwaite was born Oct. 6, 1959, in Sioux City, Iowa, to David and Jeanne (Wall) Bassingthwaite. She was raised in Sarles, ND, and attended Border Central High School in Sarles. She attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, and graduated in 1985 with a bachelor of science in Agronomy.

On July 24, 1982, Deanne married David G. Johnson, son of Gordon and Marge Johnson, in Fargo, ND, where they made their home.

Deanne enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and reading. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a tutor, and did professional sewing out of her home.

She is survived by her husband, David, Fargo; son, Devin and a daughter Desiree, both of Fargo; her parents, David and Jeanne Bassingthwaite, Apache Junction, AZ; a brother, Scott (Penne) Bassingthwaite, Grand Forks, ND; a sister, Kathy Jo (Brian) Carlton, Stafford, VA; two nieces and ten nephews.

Elenora Erickson

Elenora Erickson, 97, of Minot, ND, formerly of Sheyenne, ND, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at Manor Care in Minot, ND.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Sheyenne.

A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, ND.

Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, is in charge of the arrangements.

Brent "Fresh" Anthony Touche

Brent "Fresh" Anthony Touche, 18, of Tokio, ND, died on Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 2003 at Plaza, ND, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

A wake will be held on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. at the Dacotah Oyate Lutheran Church, rural Tokio (One mile Southwest of Tokio on Wood Lake Road). Family, friends and relatives will speak on behalf of Brent Touche.

Family, friends and relatives may also call on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at the church with a Graveside Service at the church cemetery.

Music will be cared for by Northern Nation, Etc. with special music by Brent's sister, Shannon Robertson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jacob Redfox, Berry Demarrais, James Lenoir, Tyson Redfox, Hernando Jerome, Miles Yellowearring, Wess Birdhorse and Greg Mindt.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of Brent's closest friends and relatives, his mother, sisters and brothers, aunts, uncles, many cousins, and grandmother, Lillian Greywind, and special friends, Catherine Belgarde, Austin Smith, Kyle Redfox and all of his homeboys.

Brent Anthony Touche was born on Feb. 6, 1985 at Devils Lake, ND, the son of Brenda Touche. He grew up in the Tokio Community. He enjoyed being with friends and playing basketball and listening to music. He also enjoyed swimming, attending a few pow-wows, video games and talking on the phone. He had a passion for writing poetry. Brent loved his family and friends and loved spending time with all of them. Brent was vibrant and full of life. He was very humorous and liked to tease. He made many friends from many different places in the United States. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

Brent is survived by his mother, Brenda Touche; sisters, Jodee Touche, Shannon Robertson, Elizabeth Touche; brothers, Ryan Robertson, Thomas Robertson; and grandmother, Lillian Greywind of Fort Totten. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by Faron Littleghost; his loving grandma, Mary E. Landers; and grandmother, Rose Mary McKay.

Pamela Rose (Ross) Mazakahomni

Pamela Rose (Ross) Mazakahomni, 19, of Fort Totten, ND, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 7, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Arrangements are pending with Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.

Rev. Clifford Duane Close I

Rev. Clifford Duane Close I, 68, of Devils Lake, ND, died on Friday, March 29, 2002 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at In His Image Fellowship, Devils Lake. Rev. Paul Tucker will officiate.

Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. led by Bill and Jill Jackson and family. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Glenda Marie Young

Glenda Marie Young, 64, of Rochester, Minn., died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 in Rochester.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, in Devils Lake. Peter Halbach will officiate.

Glenda was born Aug. 15, 1937 in Devils Lake, N.D., the daughter of William and Ingeborg Overbo. She was raised on the family farm east of Webster, N.D. She graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1955 and from Northwestern Institute of Medical Technology in 1956.

On Sept. 28, 1957 she was united in marriage to Allan Young in Devils Lake. They were later divorced. She lived in Devils Lake until 1976 during which time she was involved in merchandising at Mann's Department Story. She then lived in Fargo, N.D. until 1989 and moved to Rochester in 1991, where she lived until the time of her death.

She was employed at Strongwell in Chatfield, Minn., from 1991-2001 as an Administrative Secretary and then as a Quality Assurance Assistant.

She is survived by a daughter, Carrie (David) Inwards, of Rochester; one son, Stuart (Carol) Young, of Devils Lake; two sisters, Sylvia (Lawrence) Bosch, of Cupertino, Calif. and Twila (Don Brosnik) Carlsen, of Ojai, Calif.; two brothers, Donald (Dianne) Overbo, of Palm Desert, Calif. and Gordon (Natasha) Overbo, of Bloomington, Minn.; grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Inwards, Kali, Jaden and Ethan Young and Karissa and Jessica Scott; and great-grandchildren, Jagan and Dawson Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ingeborg Overbo.

Hildegard Mildred

Hildegard Mildred (Maetzold) Mooney, 86, of Roseville, MN for 60 years and founding member of St. Christopher's Church, died peacefully at home, Sunday morning, Jan. 27, 2002.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 21, 2002 at 2 p.m. (George and Hilde's 64th Wedding Anniversary) at St. Christopher's Church, with a reception to follow.

Hilde was born at home on a farm, Feb. 1, 1915, as a late-life only daughter, to William and Mary (Bachman) Maetzold. She grew up near and in Crary, ND, and lived as an adult in the Twin Cities area.

She was a lifetime outdoorswoman with her husband, and a 37-year summer resident of Lake Saganaga, Ontario. She enjoyed hunting (moose, deer, and game birds), local politics, camping, piano, skeet shooting, fishing, skiing, sailing, gardening, and canoeing, with many friends, relatives, and neighbors.

She is Survived by children, Roberta, John, and David (Shirley); daughter-in-law, Patricia; grandchildren, William, Paul (Apolonia), Jessica (Michael), Elizabeth (Jeremy), Monica (Daniel), Geoffrey, and Claire; great grandchildren, Anthony, and Elizabeth's expected baby; niece, Lois; nephews, Kenneth, Richard, James, and Vernon; and many cherished friends, and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Meyer; brothers, Charles (Frieda), Maynard (Mabel), and Howard (Genevieve); son, George William; granddaughter, Christine; and nephews, Arthur and Glenn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Hilde's Piano Fund, St. Christopher's Church, 2300 Hamline Ave., Roseville, MN 55113.

Dorothy L. LeDuc

Dorothy L. LeDuc, age 76, resident of Brocket, ND, died Friday Dec. 20, 2002 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center in Lakota, ND.

Memorial mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church of Lakota, ND, Friday at 11 a.m.. Concelebrating the mass will be Fr. Dennis Schue and Fr. Scott Sautner.

Dorothy Letitia Miller was born September 17, 1926, at Brocket, the daughter of James C. and Mary (Klug) Miller. She was raised and graduated high school in Brocket. She then attended Minot State Teachers College. Dorothy had taught school in Bartlett, ND. She married J. Kenneth LeDuc on Feb. 11, 1947 in East Grand Forks, MN. Following their marriage, they moved to Kalispell, MT. Dorothy was the bookkeeper for the construction business and the auto dealership that they owned and operated. Dorothy retired and they eventually moved back to Brocket in 1990. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brocket and the Altar Society.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her husband Kenneth "Buck" LeDuc of Brocket; brothers, Archie (Virgie) Miller of Fergus Falls, MN, James W. (Marian) Miller of Brocket and Ralph and (Gen) Miller of Brocket; sister, Beatrice (Paul) Ducharme of Omaha, NE; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Pioneer Square in Brocket or St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Brocket.

L.J. "Joe" Bradley

L.J. "Joe" Bradley, 88, of Rock Lake, ND, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at Towner County Medical Center, Cando, ND.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Rock Lake. Rev. David Birkeland will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Rock Lake.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Helen Ellenson

Helen E. Ellenson, 81, Arthur, ND, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Helen Elida Ellenson was born May 14, 1922, at Climax, MN, the daughter of Edward and Pauline (Aasen) Ellenson. Helen grew up in the Gardner, ND, area and was a life long member of Nora Lutheran Church, rural Gardner. In 1971, Helen moved to the Arthur Good Samaritan Center, where she resided until her death.

Helen is survived by one brother, Alan (Ona) Ellenson, Gardner; two nephews, John (Pam) Ellenson, Grandin, ND, and Lee Ellenson, Fargo; two nieces, Alana (Michael) Harden, Hawley, MN, and Anita (Sean) Jalbert, Grandin. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Orris Ellenson. Blessed be her memory.
