Doris E. Hudson
LEXINGTON - Doris E. Hudson, 87, of Lexington died June 3, 2001, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
She was born Dec. 6, 1913, at Shelton to Edward O. and Dora A. Osborne Hilty. She spent her childhood years in the Wood River and Kearney areas before moving with her family to Lexington.
On Oct. 15, 1935, she married Jasper Hudson at Provo, Utah. Her husband worked for the railroad and they moved back to Lexington to have a home base to raise their family. The couple had made their home in the same house in Lexington for the past 60 years.
Mrs. Hudson spent most of her time raising her daughters, keeping the home and her flower garden. For a time, though, she was employed by the Westside Care Home, the Roepke Care Home and the Lexington Laundry.
She enjoyed have her family home for visits. She was a hard worker, had a hearty sense of humor that she shared with her family. She always had an extra plate at the table when people dropped in around meal time. She enjoyed her dogs, growing flowers, camping and fishing.
Surviving her is her husband; four daughters, Donna (Dwaine) Folkers of Gothenburg, Jackie (Roger) Clark of Longmont, Colo., Karen (Jim) Warta of Lexington and Marilyn (Jack) Goodnight of Roswell, N.M.; a sister-in-law, Ruby Hilty of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, two brothers and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Lexington Fire Department or towards equipment for Tri-County Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Lexington Berean Bible Church with the Revs. J.J. White and Melvin Shafer officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington, which is in charge.
Barbara Eileen Luce
LEWELLEN - Barbara Eileen Luce, 60, of Lewellen died June 3, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
She was born Aug. 11, 1940, to Cecil E. and Mamie Horner Root at Hayes Center. In 1944, she moved to North Platte and in 1957, she graduated from North Platte High School.
She married Walter Hart and they had two children, Randy and Christine.
On Nov. 17, 1972, she married Harold Lynn Luce. For several years, she was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
Mrs. Luce and her husband lived in many cities while he was in the U.S. Navy. She was treasurer of Ash Hollow Senior Citizens.
She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and her family.
Surviving her is her husband; a daughter, Christine Hart of West Lafayette, Ind.; a son, Randy Hart of Celphi, Ind.; three grandchildren, Adam and April Hill, both of Lewellen, and Jeremy Hart of West Lafayette; two sisters, Jean Brandt and Evelyn Flagle, both of North Platte; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close and special friend, Maxine Locke of Lewellen.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials made be made to an educational fund established for her grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. MDT Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Oshkosh with the Rev. Paul Maunu officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. CDT Friday in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Friends may call at the church on Friday or at the cemetery in Maxwell after 2:30 p.m. CDT.

Claude L. Milroy
Claude LaVern Milroy, 73, of North Platte died June 3, 2001, at Linden Court in North Platte.
He was born Aug. 27, 1927, to Clyde and Loyola Noel Milroy at Thedford. The family moved to North Platte in 1928, where he was raised and attended school. He graduated in 1945. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
On July 22, 1946, he married Florence Jasnoch in North Platte. He was a meat cutter from 1946 to 1950. He began working for Herb Pearson in 1950 in the propane business. In 1974, he purchased the propane business.
Mr. Milroy was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2839. He enjoyed hunting, horses and his dog. He also had a soft spot in his heart for older people and little children. He greatly enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He was a Boy Scout leader for several years and was on the board of directors for the Liquified Petroleum Gas Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Claudia (Sean) Gatlin of Louisville, Colo.; a son, Kenneth (Sandy) Milroy of North Platte; two brothers, Donald (Angie) Milroy of North Platte and Carl (Virginia) Milroy of Fontana, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Nicky and Tyler Gatlin and Trevor and Morgan Milroy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Christian Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Chapel.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Rev. Art Faesser as celebrant.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
Elsie Nelson
BROKEN BOW - Elsie Nelson, 87, of Broken Bow died June 2, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
She was born Jan. 27, 1914, near Comstock to John and Emma Person Nelson. She attended Mount Custer rural school in the Dry Valley community in Custer County. She lived with her brother, Oscar Nelson, on a farm near Westerville. After her brother's death on Oct. 4, 1979, she moved to Broken Bow. She had been a resident of Heritage Hall Nursing Home since December 1995.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 12 brothers and sisters.
A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Westerville Cemetery.

Helen Ann Peterson
OGALLALA - Helen Ann Peterson, 78, of Ogallala died June 3, 2001, at her home.
She was born Feb. 27, 1923, at Agate, Colo., to James Arthur and Alice Mae Davis Rector. She graduated from high school in Agate.
On Feb. 14, 1943, she married Floyd Brooks. They had six children.
On June 16, 1967, she married Donald A. Peterson at Julesburg, Colo. They owned and operated the Ben Franklin Store in Ogallala until they retired in 1977. She also worked at Goodall Electric, TRW, the Ogallala Police Department and PAKS.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by four daughters, Sondra (Douglas) Sharkey, Sharyl (Dennis) Pankonin of Grant, Deborah (Lynn) McCaig of Paxton and Jan (Terry) Davis of Papillion; two sons, Brad (Sheryl) Brooks of Merrill, Iowa, and Brian Brooks and friend, Ann Brazil of Ogallala; a sister, Lela Wallace of Aurora, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Donald, her parents, a sister and six brothers.
A memorial has been established to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha for breast cancer research.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. MDT Wednesday at the Ogallala First Congregational Church with the Rev. Phil Ewert officiating.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. CDT at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
The casket will not be open. The register book can be signed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.
Lena E. Buchholz
LEXINGTON - Lena E. Buchholz, 106, of Lexington died June 4, 2001, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington, where she had been a resident the past six years.
She was born May 7, 1895, at Lexington to Henry and Kathrine Henrick Velte. When she was age 2, she moved with her family to Eustis, where she attended school.
On Feb. 26, 1919, she married Benjamin Buchholz at Lexington. The couple farmed near Lexington. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1938.
Mrs. Buchholz loved children and baby-sat for many years for the country kids, perhaps as many as 50 percent of the children who lived in the country around Lexington.
Her family was important to her and she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and growing flowers.
She was a member of the Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church since 1919. She was also a past Sunday school teacher and a past member of the Hillside Hustlers Ladies Club.
She is survived by a son, Wayne (Margie) of Lexington; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Harold and Donald; her parents; two sisters; three brothers; and a grandson.
Memorials are suggested to the family or to the donor's choice.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church near Lexington with the Rev. Steve Deines officiating.
Burial will be in the Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Robert Lee Hempel
ELWOOD - Robert Lee Hempel of Elwood died June 6, 2001, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
He was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Omaha to Barney R. and Della M. Francl Hempel. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired deputy with the U.S. Marshall Service.
Mr. Hempel is survived by his wife; a daughter, Julie Fitzekam of Mitchell; two sons, Steven R. of Omaha and Dave of Papillion; two stepchildren, Sally Parrack of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Michael Hurst of Houston; a brother, Don Hempel of Omaha; and two nieces, Missy and Ginger Hempel, both of Omaha.
Memorials may be sent to the family.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Crosby Burket Colonial Chapel in Omaha with the Rev. Michael Lincoln officiating.
The body was donated to the Creighton School of Medicine.

Donna Hill
HYANNIS - Donna Hill, 81, of Ogallala died June 3, 2001, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
She was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Hyannis to William and Leona Johnson Curtiss.
Mrs. Hill is survived by two daughters, Donna Lea Hill of Ogallala and Christine Hill of Grand Island, and two sons, Jack (Vicki) Hill of Brule and Curtiss Hill of Grand Island.
Preceding her in death was her husband Walker Hill and a son, Robert Hill.
A memorial has been established.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Hyannis with the Rev. Mary Lou Reynolds officiating.
Burial will be in the Hyannis Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.
