Harold R. DaMoude
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Harold R. DaMoude, 87, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Aug. 27, 2001, at United Medical Center-West.

He was born Aug. 16, 1914, to Harrison and Bertha DaMoude at Wellfleet and lived there until 1994. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a grain elevator owner and worked for Green Thumb.

Mr. DaMoude was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4343.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Mary (Chris) Hamilton and Susan DaMoude, all of Cheyenne; two sons, John DaMoude of Wallace and James (Melanie) DaMoude; two sisters, Velma Kugler of Tacoma, Wash., and Threesa Towne of Curtis; four grandchildren, Justin G. Hamilton and Lane C., Cole W. and Chase A. DaMoude, all of Cheyenne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Thelma Coffey; and a brother, Harrison DaMoude.

Inurnment of the cremains with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with the Rev. John Kilgore officiating.

Adams & Swanson Funeral Home of North Platte is in charge of local arrangements.

Mary George
COZAD - Mary George, 88, of Cozad died Aug. 28, 2001, at her home.

She was born July 29, 1913, in Omaha to Sam and Sadie Sulyman Elias. She was raised in Persia, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. She attended Duchesne College in Omaha for a year.

On June 19, 1934, she married Fred C. George at Lexington. They lived at Lexington for a brief time before moving to Cozad where they operated George's Grocery. She later served as children's librarian at the Cozad Public Library for more than 25 years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. George is survived by her husband; a daughter, Joanne Kennedy of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Fred Jr., (Nancy) and Ken (Mary), all of Kearney; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Jones; a grandson, Tim Jones; a son-in-law, Rodney Kennedy; five sisters; and a brother.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with the Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch officiating.

Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

Thomas M. Hagan
COZAD - Tom Hagan, 31, of Cozad died Aug. 29, 2001, at Cozad from injuries received in an auto-train accident.

He was born Dec. 21, 1969, at Gothenburg to Ralph and Beverly Hudson Hagan. He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1989. He worked at Joe Dye Ford and the Tomahawk Truck Stop in North Platte. He was employed at Monroe Auto Equipment Co. in Cozad for the past seven years.

On Jan. 21, 1995, he married Amber Fenstermacher at Cozad.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was on a bowling league and enjoyed being part of a pit crew for stock car racing.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nichole Hagan of Gothenburg and Kaycia Hagan of Cozad; a son, Carrick Fenstermacher of Cozad; his mother; two sisters, Charlene (Bret) Wolf of Hillsboro, Ore., and Christine (Terry) Davis of Lexington; and his father and mother-in-law, Roger and Patty Fenstermacher of Cozad.

Mr. Hagan was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with the Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch officiating.

Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

James Ivan Halstead
ARNOLD - James Ivan Halstead, 76, of Arnold died Aug., 28, 2001, at Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 4, 1925, to John I. and Anna J. Larsen Halstead at the family homestead in Logan County. He attended grade school at Pleasant Dale. His first two years of high school were spent at Platte Valley Academy in Shelton. The last two years he was a student at the Arnold High School, graduating in 1943.

He enjoyed farming and his pivots as well as cattle. He liked to play cards and marbles.

On Sept. 18, 1951, he married Evelyn Louise Millen. They had three children.

On May 16, 1981, he married Cynthia Jo Dunker.

Mr. Halstead is survived by his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Kathi of Tennessee; two sons, Allan of Kearney and Gary (Merri Jo) of Arnold; eight grandchildren, Kristi, Amanda and Kimberly Nobbman, Nathan (Stephanie) Jenkins and Meghan, Jenni, Jamie, and David Halstead; two sisters, Mae Ledbetter of Loma Linda, Calif., and Maude Witthuhn of Arnold; a brother, George (Bernice) Halstead of Arnold; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joey and John; his parents; and a brother, Louis.

Memorials are suggested to the Bergan-Mercy Medical Center Pet Therapy, the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Arnold with the Revs. Doug Smith, Victor Karg and Mike Wing officiating. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Arnold Funeral Home.

Jerry McCormick
MADRID - Jerry McCormick, 68, a lifetime resident of the Madrid community, died Aug. 27, 2001, at the Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant.

He was born Jan. 18, 1933, on his grandfather's farm north of Madrid to Ralph and Opal Cook McCormick. He grew up and attended school in Madrid, graduating in 1951.

In 1953, he joined the U.S. Army serving until 1955 with the 6th Armored Division Co. "B" 249th Engineer Battalion. He was a good athlete and played on the Army's Football and basketball teams which enabled him to see much of central Europe.

After his discharge, he attended Kearney State Teacher's College, where he met Jo Ann Gibson. They were married Jan. 17, 1959. They lived in Madrid. He was involved in construction and maintenance.

Mr. McCormick is survived by his wife; four daughters, Rhonda (Tom) Perlinger of Littleton, Colo., Suzanne and Rachelle, both of Grant and Angela of Madrid; two sons, Bryan (Cherl) of Grant and Kyle (Peg) of Ogallala; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial has been established.

The body was cremated. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Madrid United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bonnie Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Madrid Cemetery.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge.

Irene Ogier
Irene Ogier, 94, of North Platte died Aug. 27, 2001, at Premier Estates.

She was born May 30, 1907, to Charles and Myrta Morgan Stennette at McCook. She was a graduate of McCook High School with the class of 1924. She worked for Elmer Kay, Clerk of the District Court for two years, leaving to work for Nebraska Department of Roads, Fred C. Smith, District Engineer, where she worked until 1937.

On April 24, 1937, she married Ramon A. Ogier. She then moved to North Platte and had lived here since. In November 1943, they adopted twins, Ray Edwin and Joanne Kay.

She was a 50 year member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Signet 55 Order of the Eastern Star, Beauceant and the Shrine Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Kay (Robert) Carpenter of Denver; two sisters, Edna Morris of Denver and Adelene Kvasnicka of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four granddaughters, Stephany Coffman and Brandy and Jennifer Carpenter, all of Denver and Danielle Sprungli of Geneva, Switzerland; a three great-grandchildren, Patrick Coffman, Olivia Irene and Sonya Jacquline Sprungli; and other relatives,.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Ray; a brother, LeVerne; and an infant sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the North Platte Cemetery with John Riter officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Mid Nebraska Community Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church in North Platte.

The casket will not be open. The register book may be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

Shirley Weber Torres
KEARNEY - Shirley Marie Torres, formerly of North Platte, died Aug. 29, 2001, at her home in Kearney. She was 49.

She was born June 25, 1952, at Arnold to Maynard H. and Eva Marie Wonch Weber. She grew up in North Platte and graduated from high school in 1970. She attended Mid-America Nazarene College at Olathe, Kan., for a year. She moved back to North Platte and worked in the Lincoln County treasurer's office.

On Dec. 12, 1992, she married Michael Ben Torres at North Platte. They moved to Kearney, where they were interim pastors for the Open Bible Church, now known as Spirit of Life Church, where she was a member.

Mrs. Torres was a department manager at the Kearney Wal-Mart at the time of her death.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Melony (Rob) Rongisch of North Platte; a stepson, Vincent Torres of Kearney; two nephews she raised, Randy (Tiffany) Yonker of North Platte and Doug Yonker of Hawaii; a sister, Patricia (Gary) Lemons of North Platte; two brothers, Gene (Vicki) Weber of North Platte and Gary (Vickie) Weber of Sutherland; her mother and stepfather, Eva and Dale Munnell of North Platte; five grandchildren, Whitney, Emily, Trey, Benjamin and Alex; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Assembly of God Church in North Platte with the Revs. David Jones and Bill Jimenez officiating. Burial will be in the Waldheim Cemetery northwest of Callaway.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte and prior to services at the church Saturday.

Daniel J. Albrecht
Daniel J. Albrecht, 56, of North Platte died Aug. 2, 2001.

He was born April 25, 1945, to Lloyd and Margaret Gillan Albrecht in McCook.

In 1967, he started his business, known as Dan Albrecht Masonry Construction. He built many commercial buildings in North Platte and the surrounding areas.

In June 1969, he married Donna Stone of North Platte. He built his lifetime home on the Buffalo Bill Cody Range next to the North Platte River.

Mr. Albrecht was a member of the Eagles Aerie 2839 and the Moose Lodge 511. His hobbies were spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed reading about Western heritage and riding his horse in the Nebraskaland Days Parade and to the local saloon to socialize.

He will be remembered as a hard working, loving father, grandfather and friend to many.

Survivors include four daughters, Rebecca Albrecht of Denver, Diana Albrecht and Marcie (Tony) Schultz, both of North Platte, and Mickie (Alan) Hartzler of Sidney; a son, James E. of Clarksville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Magen and Marcus Hartzler of Sidney, Zachary, Kaycie and Dillion Schultz and Payton Albrecht, all of North Platte, and Emily Albrecht of Clarksville; two sisters, Marieta Ann Balius of McCook and Bernice Corey of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Darlene Albrecht of North Platte; two brothers, Richard (Nancy) of North Platte and Robert of Hershey; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Franklin.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte with the Rev. Thomas Dillion as celebrant. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery in Maxwell.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today and Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
