Timothy Gonzales, 49
ALLIANCE - Timothy A. Gonzales, 49, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at his home.

Tim was born Oct. 23, 1957, at Alliance, to Alex and Margaret (Marin) Gonzales.

He graduated from Alliance High School in 1976. Following his graduation, he became employed, and was currently employed, at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a carman.

He married Laurie Christensen on June 18, 2005. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Tim's prides and passions included hanging out with his grandchildren, spending time with family that deeply loved and cared about him, building and fixing things, lifting weights, and riding his Harley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 26 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. James Heithoff officiating. Wake services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at the church.

Cremation will follow the services on Monday. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and at the church prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Timothy A. Gonzales Memorial Fund at the Western Heritage Credit Union, P.O. Box 697, 103 E. 1st Street, Alliance, NE 69301.

Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Leonard Rohrbouck, 85
YUCAIPA, CAlif. - Leonard F. Rohrbouck, 85, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007.

Leonard was born Oct. 25, 1921, at Alliance to Chris and Bertha (Fredericks) Rohrbouck.

Leonard was educated in rural schools near Alliance, prior to his enlistment into the U.S. Army. While stationed in California, Leonard married Patricia Pullen in 1944, his sweetheart he had met at Bayard.

Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, the couple remained in California where Leonard worked as a diesel mechanic in the trucking industry until his retirement in the mid 1980's.

The couple adopted one son, Doug as a newborn in 1951. Leonard enjoyed fishing, hunting (he would return to Nebraska yearly to deer hunt locally), and collecting guns and rocks.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Chapel at Scottsbluff, with Fr. Gerald Harr officiating.

Interment will follow at the Bayard Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral service on Saturday morning.

JOHN SCHNEIDER

John Schneider, 92, of Cozad, passed away March 14 2010 at his home in Cozad. He was born December 17, 1917 at Lincoln, NE to Alex and Amelia (Moor) Schneider.

On November 20, 1937 he married Freida Reinhardt at Cozad. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and especially growing flowers. He farmed from 1947 until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son; a grandson; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.

Survivors include his wife, Frieda of Cozad; 3 daughters, Judy Strohmyer of Lincoln, Sandy (Terry) Fisher of Cozad and Shirley (Dale) Estergard of Callaway; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Ruth Worhle of Lexington and Ester Reinhardt of North Platte.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Pastor Jeremy Jech officiating.

Visitation for memorial book signatures will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home.

A lunch will be served at Cozad Housing following services.

IRMA J. BRAUN

Irma Jeanette Braun, age 93, of Elwood, formerly of Eustis, died March 15, 2010 at the Tri- County Hospital in Lexington.

She was born August 8, 1916 in Eustis, the daughter of John G. and Clara (Buehner) Hueftle. Irma married Carl F. Braun in 1938, the couple made their home in Eustis.

Irma retired as Guidance Counselor of Eustis Public Schools in 1986 at age 69, having provided 42 years of education. She began teaching in one-room country schools following her graduation. She later taught in Elwood and Eustis. During her career she earned degrees at the University of Nebraska Kearney; a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Remedial Reading as well as in Counseling. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling. The last year she lived at the Elwood Care Center where she was content, enjoyed her time, and remained of clear mind. Please celebrate her happy life and death without suffering.

Irma became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis following her marriage to Carl. She served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of Dorcas Circle, the Mary-Martha Circle and served on various committees.

Irma was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1977; daughter, Audrey A. Braun; sister, Viola Wolf; and a brother, Earl Hueftle.

Survivors include her son, Carl L. Braun and his wife Karol Sue of Dubuque, IA; their two children, Jaymie (Thomas) Oehler of Omaha, and Ryan Carl (Alicia) Braun of Chicago, IL; great grandsons, Michael and Nathaniel Oehler of Omaha; nephews, Russell, Dennis and Dean Wolf all of Eustis, the Schaefer’s in California, and relatives in Germany.

Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church in her memory. Condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.

Services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis with Pastor Beverly Rautenberg-Panko officiating. Burial will be in the East Cemetery at Eustis.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis.

Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CHERYL D. TICKLE

Cheryl Tickle, age 65, of Kearney, died March 18, 2010 at her home in Kearney.

She was born June 2, 1944 at Ogallala, Nebraska to Les and Wilma (Booze) Elmshauser. She attended Ogallala High School where she graduated in 1961.

On November 2, 1963, Cheryl married Melvin Tickle at Minden, Nebraska and the couple made their home in Ogallala. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Dean, Rod and Rachelle. While in Ogallala, Cheryl had held several jobs before going to work for Super 8 Hotels as a manager. She moved frequently with her job as she worked her way up through the company, eventually becoming the Director of Operations for Budget Hotel Management in 1988. In 1994, Cheryl moved to Kearney to be close to her family, she continued work with Budget Hotel Management as the Purchasing Coordinator for the business. Cheryl retired from the hotel business in June of 2009.

Cheryl was a member of the Family of Christ Lutheran Member.

Cheryl was an incredibly giving and generous person. Her family was the focal point of her life, especially her grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sandy Husmann; and nephews, Brent and Bret Husmann.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Dean (Diane) Tickle of Lexington, Rod (Catherine) Tickle of Hastings; daughter, Rachelle (Doug) Warner of Elm Creek; 3 sisters, Kay (Pal) Miller of Lincoln, Marla (Keith) Scheer of Lincoln, Tammy (Terry) Sutton of Thornton, CO; 3 brothers, Terry Elmshauser of Ogallala, Todd (Becky) Elmshauser of Ogallala, Wiley (Krystal) Elmshauser of Sidney; brother-in-law, Ernie Husmann of Lakewood, CO; 4 grandsons, Jason (Meghan) Tickle of Cozad, Joseph Tickle of Hastings, Luke Warner of Elm Creek, Reed Thiefoldt of Parlin, NJ; 4 granddaughters, Kristen Tickle of Lincoln, Megan Warner of Elm Creek, Celeste (Scott) Wulf of Hooper, Sara (Galen) Greer of Omaha; 5 great grandchildren, Drake, Rebecca, Miles, Caitlyn and Liam; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Kearney on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastors Eric Lesher and John Gosswein officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery at Ogallala, Nebraska at 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at O’Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.

RONALD “RON” ANDERSON

Ron Anderson, 65, of Loveland, CO, formerly of Cozad, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Medical Center of the Rockies Hospital in Loveland, CO after a courageous battle with cancer. His incredible strength was admired by all.

Ron was born November 22, 1944 in Salem, OR to Carl and Clarebelle Anderson. Ron served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. After serving his country, he came back to Cozad and worked at Monroe’s and New Holland in Lexington.

On August 25, 1971 he married Linda Kirk and later adopted her daughter Lindsay. They made their home in Cozad. Ron and Linda renewed their vows on November 3, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV and made their home in Loveland, CO. Ron was a devoted husband, loving father, brother and uncle.

Ron loved to fish. He cherished his time fishing in Wyoming with his friends. Those were some of his fondest memories. He enjoyed the Colorado Avalanche hockey team and shared a common bond of hockey with his daughter, Lindsay. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard. Watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers play football was a “must see”.

Ron had been employed for the past 22 years at Amerimax Fabricated Products in Loveland, CO. He was very dedicated to his job and took pride in his work. He was so looking forward to retirement at the time of his death.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and 2 sisters, Marlene and Jewell.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Anderson; daughter, Lindsay of Cheyenne, WY; sister, Delores Lindeman of Cozad; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were entrusted to Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

A graveside service with military honors were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Cozad Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad was in charge of inurnment arrangements.

LAURINE M. STRICKLAND

Laurine Strickland, age 91, of North Platte, formerly of Cozad, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Linden Court in North Platte.

Laurine was born October 13, 1918 at Cheyenne, Wyoming to Barnet and Mae (Bresnahan) Beavers. She attended high school at Englewood, Colorado where she graduated in 1936.

On July 31, 1938, she married Allen Strickland at Fort Morgan, Colorado. The couple made their home in California for 3 years before moving to Darr, NE, and then to Cozad in 1972. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Kenneth, Donald and Karen. While in Cozad, Laurine was employed at the Midget Market.

Laurine was a member of the Parkview Methodist Church in Cozad. She had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant- Colfax #6 and the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary #23 for over 50 years. She was a past member of the 12th Street Birthday Club and was a 50 plus year member of the Naomia Rebekah Lodge in Kearney. She was also an active volunteer with the Blood Mobile for many years.

Laurine was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allen in 1994; son, Kenneth; 1 infant brother, 2 brothers, Harold Beavers and Jack Beavers-Coffman; 1 half brother, James Coffman; 2 sisters, Jane Ogston, Carol Mershon; half sister, Judy Snellbacker.

Survivors include her son, Donald (Geraldine) Strickland of Albany, OR; daughter, Karen (Craig)Vogt of North Platte; half sister, Jean (Walt) Daulton of Colorado Springs, CO; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law, Dewey (June) Strickland of Yucca Valley, CA, Rex (Janice) Strickland of Cozad; 3 sisters-in-law, Barbara Coffman of Byers, CO, Lois Emens of Fowler, CA, and Alverda Anderson of Portland, OR.

Services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Pastor Jeremy Jech officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

JAROD M. MALCOM

Jarod Malcom, age 33, of Cozad, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

Jarod was born August 24, 1976 to Dwayne and Julie (McAdams) Malcom. Jarod attended Cozad High School. After his schooling, Jarod worked various jobs and at various work sights.

In his spare time, Jarod liked to garden and search for artifacts with his good friend Jason. Spending time with the mother of his child, Jacque and his son Caydon took priority.

Jarod was preceded in death by an infant son, Sam; his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.

Survivors include his son, Caydon; parents, Dwayne and Julie Malcom of Cozad; grandmother, Druzzilla Malcom of Cozad; brother, Justin Malcom of Lincoln; 2 sisters, Crystal (Charlie) Buesing and Lori Malcom all of Cozad; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Friday, April 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cozad Christian Church with Pastor Jeremy Jech officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery north of Cozad.

Visitation for memorial book signatures will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

RICHARD “DICK” MALCOM

Richard “Dick” Malcom, age 63, of Callaway, formerly of Cozad, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at his home north of Cozad.

Dick was born September 10, 1946 at Dawson County, Nebraska to Alvin and Druzzilla (Lawson) Malcom. He attended Cozad High School.

Dick was raised on the family farm north of Cozad, and at the age of 14, he would travel with his uncle Walt to help him custom harvest. In the early 1970’s, Dick entered the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam and earned 2 bronze stars. Following his discharge in January of 1975, he returned to Cozad. Dick was employed with the Cozad Street Department for 22 years; following his retirement, he moved to his childhood farm home north of Cozad.

Dick enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. He often attended auctions and garage sales to find the various pieces that he would eventually come to restore. He was generous on many levels to his family and friends alike. Dick enjoyed taking his children camping, fishing and hunting. He always enjoyed animals and spending time on the farm. His most cherished moments were spent with his children and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin; and an infant brother, Ernest.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Malcom of Callaway; children, Gabe and Lacey Malcom both of Amherst; mother, Druzzilla Malcom of Cozad; 2 brothers, Dwayne (Julie) Malcom of Cozad, Doug Malcom of Callaway; 3 sisters, Janese Gengenbach, Karen (Jim) Weinmaster and Debbie (Ted) Lindstedt all of Cozad; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Pastor Gerald Schwarz officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.

There will be no visitation.
