Dr. James Passick
The funeral for Dr. James A. Passick, 75, of Humboldt was held Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt.
He died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
He was born June 26, 1929, in Omaha, to James and Velasta (Jecminek) Passick. He attended school in Sioux City, Iowa, before moving to Emerson. He graduated from Emerson High School in 1947 and attended Wayne State College. Following his education, he held several different jobs, and while working in Hartington he procured his private pilot license. He entered the military service in 1952 and after basic training, he married Doris King in Niobrara. He was sent to Baltimore to train for the Counter Intelligence Corps before being sent to Korea. While in Korea, he was assigned to the photographic crew, flying reconnaissance missions surrounding territory and at little switch, where the first trading of prisoners took place during the Korean War. He received a commendation medal. After returning home to Nebraska and working as a meat cutter in the grocery business, he joined Hormel Food Corp., working as a salesman and troubleshooter. In 1963, he enrolled in Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated in 1965. He established his office in Fort Dodge where he practiced until his retirement in 2002. He married Sherry Gregerson in December 1989, and the couple made their home in Humboldt.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Jon Passick; three daughters, Gayle (Mrs. Nickolas) DiFreterici, Joni (Mrs. Barry) Vestal and Carol Vee (Mrs. Scott Baker); stepson, Doug Gregerson; and a brother, William H. (and wife, Lavilda) Passick.
The Rev. Ed Kail officiated. Burial was in Indian Mound cemetery in Humboldt.
Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Pearson
Margaret F. Pearson, 88, of Wahoo died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in Wahoo.
She was born July 21, 1916, in Wahoo to Edward and Martha (Johnson) Biggerstaff. She graduated from Wahoo High School. She married Carl H. Pearson on April 26, 1936, in Wahoo. They farmed in Saunders County until 1947 when they moved to Wahoo. She was very active in First Presbyterian Church, teaching and leading Sunday school classes and Bible studies.
Survivors include: two sons, Dick of Cedar Bluffs and Fred (and wife, Connie) of Wahoo; two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Bennie) Stuart and Mary (Mrs. Fred) Mittan, all of Wahoo; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, a sister and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo with the Rev. Don White officiating. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo with the family present from 4-6 p.m. Burial will be in Sunrise cemetery in Wahoo.
Memorials have been established to the church and Back to the Bible.

John Harms
John Peter Harms, 83, of Fremont died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, in San Diego.
He was born Nov. 2, 1920, to John Herman Harms and Della (Cox) Harms.
Survivors include: a son, Mike Harms of Fremont; two daughters, Tara (Harms) Trower of San Diego and Kathy (Harms) Darling of Shelby; and five grandchildren, Chad, Kurt, Kasey, Shylia and Darren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harrison Harms, and a sister, Nina (Harms) Jurging.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ridge cemetery in Fremont.

Delaine Kraus
Delaine F. Kraus, 71, of Omaha died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
He was born Feb. 1, 1933, in Primrose to Fred and Ella (McReady) Kraus. He attended grade school in Richland and graduated from Columbus High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers, David of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Carroll of Milwaukee.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Omaha. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will resume from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Svoboda Funeral Home South Chapel in Schuyler. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic cemetery in rural Schuyler.

Michael Lytle
Michael A. Lytle, 48, of Fremont died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1955, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Anthony and Myra Jane (Stroud) Lytle. He grew up in Twin Falls and served in the U.S. Army. He previously was a truck driver and had been a diesel mechanic foreman at Omaha Truck Center.
He married Shirley Young on Oct. 9, 1979, in Okmulgee, Okla.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Darren (and wife, Leslie) Lytle of Fremont; three daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Mike) Holck and Laura McDonald, all of Fremont, and Amber Torgerson of Tekamah; three brothers, Doug (and wife, Elaine) Wensel of Cedar City, Utah, Ron (and wife, Gidgit) Wensel of Wasilla, Alaska, and Marty (and wife, Tina) Lytle of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Linda Hammond of Hanford, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Greg Hall of First United Methodist Church in Fremont officiating. There is no visitation, however, friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20 at the funeral home following the memorial service.
A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.

Mabel Stonacek
Mabel Stonacek, 92, of Clarkson died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Columbus Community Hospital.
She was born March 15, 1912, in Clarkson to Henry and Margaret "Maggie" (Rolf) Bahns. She attended Rural District 60 School in Colfax County. She married Edward J. Stonacek on Feb. 18, 1930, in Leigh. They farmed north of Clarkson from 1942-68 when their home was destroyed in a fire. They then moved to Norfolk where she worked as a water billing clerk until retiring in the late 1970s. In the mid 1960s, she received her General Education Development certificate (GED) and also graduated from Business Machine School. Her husband preceded her in death in 1986. She lived in Norfolk until 1998 when she moved back to Clarkson to live at Colonial Manor.
She was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson.
Survivors include: two sons, Richard "Dick" (and wife, Rosane) Stonacek of Berthoud, Colo., and Edward L. "Bud" (and wife, Pat) Stonacek of Clarkson; a daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Steve) Podany of Norfolk; two sisters, Irene Klimes of Davenport, Iowa, and Ella Hemmen of Raymore, Colo.; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by an infant brother, a brother and a sister.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with the Rev. Mel Wiese officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, all at the church. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Clarkson Catholic cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the church.
Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Young
The funeral for Billy J. Young, 73, of Scribner will be 2 p.m. Friday at Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner.
He died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at his home.
He was born June 18, 1931, in Littlefield, Texas, to E. F. Young and Tessie May (Williams) Young. He went to school in Spade, Texas. He spent most of his youth in Texas and Roswell, N.M. He lived in Lubbock, Texas, at the time of his first marriage to Dorothy (Scott) Young. He also lived in Amarillo, Texas. He lived in West Point from 1978-81 while he was working on a construction project at the local IBP plant. From there he moved to Charter Oak, Iowa, while working at the Denison IBP plant from 1981-82. He returned to Amarillo from 1982-87, Savannah, Mo., from 1987-92 and then to Council Bluffs, Iowa, for a short time before moving to Scribner. He owned BJY Construction and retired in 1994.
His second marriage was to Kay (Bahnsen) Mann on June 13, 1986, in Vega, Texas.
Survivors include: his wife, Kay; a son, Randy (and wife, Karla) Young of Phoenix; three daughters, Joann (Mrs. Danny) Hoggatt of Pampa, Texas, Tami Young of Katy, Texas, and Dana Hearnsberger of Durham, N.C.; a stepson, Tim Mann of Fremont; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Kaukver and Kendra Barker, both of Fremont; two brothers, Eugene and Donald; a sister, Barbara Jean Morris of Carlsbad, N.M.; eight grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner with Chaplain Joe Brown of the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice Program officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. His body will be cremated following the funeral.

Meinard A. Pieper
The funeral Mass for Meinard A. Pieper, 74, of Dodge will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean, rural Dodge.
He died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in rural Dodge to Joseph and Mary (GrosseRhode) Pieper. He attended Sacred Heart Academy in rural Dodge and attended Dodge High School. He never married . He farmed west of Dodge on the home farm all of his working life, along with being employed by D and S Tire in West Point. He made his home on the farm with his sister, Imelda Pieper. He remained living on the farm after retirement to the present time.
He was a past member of the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include: two sisters, Imelda Pieper of Dodge and Imogene (Mrs. Henry) Schlickbernd of West Point; and four brothers, Van (and wife, Florene) Pieper and Allen (and wife, Judy) Pieper, all of Des Moines, Iowa, Gene (and wife, Bernadine) Pieper of Gary, S.D., and Art (and wife, Janice) Pieper of Lafayette, Ind.
He was preceded in death by a brother and an infant brother.
The Rev. Mark McKercher will officiate Saturdays service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today and continues one hour prior to service time, all at the church. A wake service will be 7:30 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery in Olean.
Humlicek Funeral Home in Dodge is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Horejsi
The funeral for Alice Horejsi, 93, of Schuyler will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Marys Catholic Church in Schuyler.
She died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.
Alice Moeller was born Feb. 17, 1911, in the Dublin area of Colfax County. She attended Colfax County rural District 7 and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1929. She taught at District 7 until her marriage. She married Longin Horejsi on Sept. 9, 1931, at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Dublin. The couple farmed in the Dublin area before moving to Schuyler in 1972. Her spouse preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2003.
She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and St. Marys Guild.
Survivors include: a daughter, Joan (Mrs. Emil) Kasik of Lincoln; a son, Charles "Dick" (and wife, Gloria) Horejsi of Missoula, Mont.; a brother-in-law, Lambert Horejsi of Schuyler; a sister-in-law, Nettie Bahns of Modesta, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister.
The Rev. Gerald Leise will officiate Tuesdays service. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday by the Parish and Knights of Columbus at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday and 8:30-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, North Chapel. Burial will be in Schuyler cemetery.
Donations are to familys choice.
Svoboda Funeral Home in Schuyler is in charge of arrangements.

Genelle Pence
Genelle A. Pence, 63, of Schuyler died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler.
